Recently returned from a 3 night stay visiting my boyfriends family, the hotel is absolutely lovely with stunning views over the golf course.
Breakfast was delicious, rooms spacious and clean — I would 100% return.
The staff are lovely, it’s a family run hotel who also make you feel like family, nothing was ever too much.

Very friendly greeting on arrival at reception. Other members of staff including owner were also very friendly and helpful.
We had a very clean, large, twin room with lovely view over golf course.
And the breakfast was very tasty with good sized helpings.
I definitely recommend this hotel and if staying in Montrose again this will be my 1st choice of hotel.

Lovely hotel in our home town. Had a belated birthday lunch today, huge portions and friendly staff, will definitely be back.

Went to hartz restaurant for Valentine’s dinner good atmosphere good staff and good food only a few small niggles nothing major 1 the dip with the blaggis starter just tasted like creamy vinegar 2 no water on the tables and 3 they only have one toilet for all to use in the restaurant area I know stupid complaints but the difference between a 8/10 to a 10/10 but didn’t spoil my evening and I would go back xx.

Lovely family meal tonight, very attentive staff. Will definitely be visiting again.

My first time eating here, food was just beautiful! Portions were too big for me hence why I left half. My only criticism would be, the dance music on the radio didn’t suit the restaurant, personal choice though.
Would definitely come back though!

A really beautiful hotel in a really great area. The hotel is next to the golf courses and only 5 min from the beach. The people who work there are amazing, friendly and happy to serve. The rooms are very clean and the restaurant offers amazing breakfast and meals. I totally recommend it!

Enjoyed a lovely meal in the resteraunt. The only downside was the lack of service. Waitress could have been more attentive. Would have liked to have had a dessert but got fed up waiting. Staff only seemed to appear in dining room when bringing in meals then just disappeared!

Food was great, good price, we were there early on so it was very quiet so a little background Muzak might have been nice… We loved the food and will return.

We went to the Grey Harlings for a family meal where there were 12 of us. Its the first time I've been inside and the house is pretty stunning. There's loads of old features blended with nice decoration and ornaments, it feels really cosy. Add to that, a cool little beer garden and tables overlooking the golf courses, its a braw venue. For my meal I had fish and chips which was pretty good and a hot fudge sundae which was affy good. No complaints from the rest of the family plus the staff were helpful and friendly. Only downside was that there was quite a wait for the food but nothing ridiculous.

Spent one night at Grey Harlings with 3 friends and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. We booked two twin rooms, one was en suite, the other had a bathroom across the hall but was solely for them and they were given a key for this. The staff were very helpful and friendly. The building is quirky and interesting to look at. The food was delicious, homemade and beautifully presented. Its location is ideal for golfers wishing to play Broomfield and Royal Montrose. It overlooks the 18th green of Royal Montrose. Definitely worth a visit!

I was in for dinner on Tuesday and it was lovely, the food was fantastic, the service was polite and friendly and the building itself is simply beautiful… I would highly recommend :) x.

Only had one overnight stay to do moon night walk in Montrose but definitely recommend it!
Exceptionally clean & comfortable, all staff so polite & friendly giving a family relaxing atmosphere. Food lovely & breakfast was brilliant, relaxed & plentiful! Definitely go back!. Beautiful spot over looking over the sea & golf course. Cant find anything negative to say!

Arguably one of the finest places in Montrose for an evening meal. We spent the evening here with our family (20+ people) and the few staff of hand were exceptional — friendly, efficient, patient with our odd requests, and managed our horde well between them. Furthermore, the building itself is fabulously rustic. We conviened around the open fire after the meal and shared memories and sang songs with drinks in hand, the staff never too far to recharge our glasses. So to summarize — If you're wanting to impress, experience something different, or simply want fine cuisine — this is the place to go in Montrose.

Thoroughly enjoyable lunch at The Grey Harlings. This beautifully renovated house, overlooking the golf course and the beach, provides a beautiful setting to spend a relaxing couple of hours. They open every day from 11am and offer everything from a quick cuppie & cake or light snack to a full three course meal. Todays visit was for lunch, which we thoroughly enjoyed, my Sea Bass was cooked to perfection and the homemade raspberry & white chocolate cheesecake was divine. Th…e service was also first class, Louise was very attentive and made our first visit an absolute pleasure. We will most certainly be back, and will highly recommending Grey Harlings to friends/family. See you soon :-)

My wife and I stayed here during the MO fest and we can highly recommend this place. Everything was spot on and the staff were extremely friendly and helpful.

This place is awesome. The owners are helpful and so friendly we were like at home here. 10 out of 10 for everything and 100 out of 10 for the friendliness.

This place is fantastic. The owners Keith and Linda are great hosts and will go above and beyond to make sure things are comfortable and all in place. The guest house itself is beautiful. Inside feels homely and all the rooms are comfortable. Will be staying here again anytime I am back visiting my family.

This is an exceptional place to stay. I was here for two weeks on business and it was the best customer service I've ever had. Linda and Keith are incredible and truly understand the idea of hospitality. The rooms are clean, recently renovated, and have a beautiful setting right on the Montrose Links. Make sure you stay here if your travels bring you to Montrose!

Was not expecting much as we had booked late, what a fantastic place, we were made to feel at home, and put at ease with linda who was there at anytime to help, fantastic place and fantastic people, hope to be back soon x.
