Lovely meal, worth a go.

Restaurant staff recommend dishes that are incomplete, only 2 out of 5 components present. Rude response when queried. Ignored when raised issue. Very poor.

Amazing food, staff really friendly, knowledgeable and helpful. Highly recommended.

First meal here tonight and definitely not our last. Amazing food and great service. Cannot wait to come back and try more of the delicious menu.

Amazing place to stay and eat.

Having been recommended Llys Meddyg by friends and family, we decided to stay for a night and we were not disappointed.
The hotel is stunning and so is the decor.
We found the owners and staff to be friendly and welcoming.
Breakfast was delicious with their very own home smoked salmon.
Perfect place for exploring this beautiful area.

Just had an absolutely beautiful Christmas meal here. We were a table of 19 and everything was perfect. Thank you so much to all the team. Thoroughly recommend for a special meal.

Thought it important to post this. A review not of the rooms but of the restaurant which we visited in August. We had called ahead to check that the restaurant offered vegan options, but there were none on the menu. Our guest was advised to order cauliflower (hold the cheese) or put together her own dinner from sides. The waiter was very brusque and he couldn't hide his displeasure with our group (which included two vegans) We asked if the chef could suggest a vegan meal (the restaurant was mostly empty at 6;15 so we didn't feel it was too much of an imposition) … the answer was. Order sides … the sides were fairly uninspiring (potatoes, carrots, plain greens) so our vegan guests left. We ordered sea bass and one order of pork. The waiter got the order wrong and brought multiple orders of pork. So one of our guests ate alone, while the others waited for their food The waiter did not apologize and he continued to ignore us for most of the evening. There were three servers working that evening and I need to point out that the two other waitresses were very solicitous and extremely accommodating. I got the impression they had been hired to compensate for the waiter's gruff ineptitude.
The sea bass and pork were both delicious. Perfectly cooked. The sides were very good. Would certainly recommend the food, and the setting — — but the whole experience was marred by one very rude waiter.

A great place to stay in Newport with a lovely atmosphere and fantastic food.

The food is of the highest quality and the accommodation is grand. You will not be disappointed.

Great produce — some of it from their extensive kitchen garden — beautifully prepared in a beautifully restored house with great service — this is what it’s all about! YUM! Thanks Ed, Louise and team!

Probably the best three course meal we’ve ever had. Fabulous! Dog friendly bar & rooms with friendly helpful staff. Highly recommend.

WOW 5 star service — I came home on my birthday to find Ed Lou and team in my house cooking up a delicious dinner for my surprise birthday party guests. Their professionalism is first class and they helped make my birthday extra special plus giving Anthony major brownie points for organising it! Thank you so much Xx.

Great venue. I was shooting a wedding here yesterday and I am still impressed of how well organized was everything and how helpful and amazing staff was. They also helped us with directions to local beach which is gorgeous location for wedding photos to be taken.

We loved the meat platter with home made dips. Delicious. Main courses were fabulous too. My burger not over done but cooked to perfection. The lady who served food was very kind and friendly. We would definitely come back there again!

Absolutely love this place we come every year! We were first customers of the season on Wednesday and it again didn’t disappoint.

Booked for an evening meal well in advance. Turned up the day before and thought "better check that reservation". Staff said they had "No record" but could still fit us in. Turned up on the night and were escorted to the "dungeon" and shown a table for two that was so small there was no room to move anything about. Menu was scant and expensive with about 4 mains, two of which were fish. We left and ate in a local pub which was cheaper with more atmosphere and good quality food!

We performed for Helen and Lisa’s wedding reception here just a couple of weeks ago and can’t thank the lovely staff enough for being so friendly and amazing, from feeding us some delicious grub to thanking us at the end of the night, it was a pleasure to perform at Llys Meddyg and we hope to return soon! This is essentially a restaurant with accommodation rather than a hotel with restaurant. Nevertheless, the accommodation is excellent, spacious and comfortable. The staff, including the owners, were extremely welcoming and helpful and, the most important thing for us, they are dog-friendly. We could even have our dog with us at breakfast time by setting up a table for us in the comfortable cellar bar. Can't comment on the quality of evening meals as we're visiting other towns each evening and ate out. We really enjoyed our time at the Llys Meddyg and will go again.

Lovely hotel with a great restaurant and a rustic feel. Staff were really nice and room was decorated to a good standard. Only negative was the bath plug didn't work and the water wouldn't heat up to enjoy a great soak. Highly recommended for the great staff, beautiful rustic feel, great food and large selection of homemade products.

Great place. Really nice decor and attention to details. Nice log fires, friendly staff, delicious food, great location. Lots of love has gone into this place and it shows. By the way — we have our key still! Will send in post tomorrow. Cheers Madoc.

Spent a lovely few days at Llys Meddyg for our Minimoon, we have been to Newport numerous times but usually stay in a cottage, as this was a quick visit we decided to stay here and we did not regret it! Lovely accommodation, the food in the evening was amazing and enjoyed by all (including Leo our dog who was also very well accommodated for). Will definitely visit again! Thank you x.

Delightful place to stay. Rooms fitted out in a tasteful modern style. Very quiet at night. Both breakfast and dinner were of a high standard. All of the staff are exceptionally friendly. Perfectly situated for exploring Pembrokeshire.

A magical place where you feel welcomed the moment you step in. We've had exquisite dining experiences here and can't wait to be back :). Strolling through the back gardens, can't shake the feeling there's some fairy dust making wonder throughout. We are truly grateful to have visited.

Llys Meddyg is a completely exceptional 'restaurant with rooms'. There is a relaxed and welcoming atmosphere so the visitor is immediately at home. The food is seasonal, imaginative, fresh and delicious. The rooms are individual, beautifully furnished and resourced; the original paintings and prints add a further dimension. Excellent staff are another feature of this lovely, highly recommended place — not forgetting the beautiful and interesting location.

We've just moved into Newport & are so lucky to have this wonderful venue on our doorstep. Wonderful meals in the Cellar Bar / Restaurant & Easter in the Kitchen Garden… Met friendly staff who prepare pre meal cocktails & great service… Love it! Maybe put some table & chairs outside & make the Cellar Bar Entrance more noticeable, as some people just walk past/ peep in at the Reception & don't realise what their missing!
We visit most Weekends…

The meal we had was incredible and the wine was superb. The wait staff was very courteous and polite. We will definitely come again. Thank you.

Stayed with the wife and absolutely loved it. Located in a stunning part of Wales we enjoyed our luxurious cosy room, the great food, fabulous walks and especially the company of the owners Edward, Louise & Cecilia. Don't miss the cellar bar! We will definitely be back again.

Got Married here 2 years ago. I can't put into words how wonderful this place is. The food is top notch and soooo tasty. The staff are fantastic and normal not stuck up; as for the owners well words fail me as they are genuinely lovely people. Our wedding was made all the more special because of them especially Cecilia. The accommodation is clean and comfortably stylish without being pretentious as for the yurt with wood fired hot tub, pure heaven.

On arrival we were met by a most charming man, Victor, who made us instantly feel at home. Throughout the evening he worked very hard, discreetly, doing various duties to ensure all the guests had everything they needed without having to wait too long. He even produced a pair of reading glasses for me to read the menu as I had left mine behind. The food was the second good thing about this place. We think the chef is well on his way to a Michelin star, if he has not got one already. We liked the fish and vegetarian meals so much that we ordered it again just to slowly taste it a little longer. The bath tub was big enough for two and deep like a pond. The bed was comfortable enough. The house is rustic with some creaky floorboards. However overall we would definitely come back just to see Victor again and eat the same food.

We arrived at our due time at 8pm on Saturday 8th May — no-one on reception to meet or greet us. My wife had to go and locate the waiter after waiting several minutes at reception. We were eventually shown to a table in a good location of the restaurant, however we appeared to be abandoned and waited a further 20 minutes for someone to provide us with a menu or the offer of drinks. When we were eventually offered the menu we were informed that two of the options were no longer available which then reduced the options on offer. My wife and friend ordered the crab brulee which was lovely and the Ox cheek (mains) with red cabbage was equally delicious. We also ordered the duck leg with rhubarb starter, which I was informed was very good. Overall the food was good however the service was much to be desired and a reason for the delay in service would of been appreciated.

Absolutely wonderful place/spot/atmosphere/service/rooms/value/people. The food was sublime — original, creative, beautifully crafted, delightful, delicious — as well as seasonal and local. We'll be back, to paraphrase Arnold Schwarzenegger. Thank you Family Sykes.
