Just spent an over night stay with friends at this wee gem. What a fantastic place to stay! Check in was easy, with a lovely greeting and homely atmosphere. Our rooms were a pleasant surprise, spacious clean and homely with all the mod cons, tea & coffee pods, toiletries and a fantastic view. The menu for dinner was also superb and complimented by the friendly helpful staff. Comfy beds (a rare thing these days) aided a restful sleep enabling us to enjoy a fantastic breakfast cooked fresh by a passionate chef who came to our table to check everything was ok WOW. Love love loved this little place and we will most definitely be back. 🥰

Service was far better today than the last time we where here. My husband's dinner came out with no roast potatoes we never said anything but Sean seen this and got him some. The bar man was an absolute gentleman think his name was Sean aswell. These too men definitely know how to look after their customers. Would definitely be back after today's service I hope they are working for many more years here. I hope Richard gets to read this review.

Beautiful food and very friendly atmosphere.

Just had a birthday party and the food, service and rooms were fantastic. Every course was delicious and the staff were so fantastic throughout the whole night. The dining room was decorated beautifully for us and we were able to host our own disco! I would recommend this to anyone thinking of an event.

We went for the festive afternoon tea 04.12.21. The atmosphere, service & food was five star. A table beside the open fire 🔥 was a bonus. We would definitely book it again & highly recommend. Hope you plan to have another. Thank you for a fabulous day. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

A better vegetarian and vegan menu. If I want pizza I'll go to an Italian restaurant. My daughter sat with a plate of chips which thankfully you did make in vegetable oil. As she pretty much lives on pizza at home she didn't want it while out for dinner which to be honest was the same for me and my mum. My son would eat pizza every night of the week if he could so he was happy enough but the rest of us felt you could have done better.

I ate at the pub in the Cuan as part of a Game of Thrones tour, and I was so thankful to see vegan options on the menu. My shepherdless pie was perfect for the chilly weather, and the chef even came around to greet us all individually. I was very impressed.

What a wonderful place! From the warm and friendly greeting to the fun and friendly banter and the superb selection of beautiful meals everything was perfect! A huge thankyou to Peter, Caroline and family for an all to brief but amazing stay.

Took the family here twice over the past week. The food was spectacular, the staff were super friendly and the general atmosphere was fantastic. For those interested in GoT and the dark forest trees they also have one of the doors that were allegedly made from the trees that had fallen. The detailing on the door is fantastic. Whilst not able to sample the food from the attached take-away I would naturally assume it is just as nice as the restaurant. The only minor issue would be that the gents could do with a bit of modernising. This establishment is also dog friendly, provided everyone in the room consents, the staff ask everyone in the room, very friendly and welcoming. Would definitely return. Folk were asking the staff where the Michelin star was on display, the food was that good.

The Cuan is my favourite place to stay in Northern Ireland. It is comfortable, clean, and the staff are second to none. The food is excellent and the costs are value for money.

Loved this place! Peter the owner showed us all of the cool GOT artifacts he has collected. Super nice guy and they have great food. This is the location of the first GOT door. Super intricate and beautiful!

10/10 would recommend. The staff was the friendliest I've ever seen. The owner and the family came and talked to us and ensured we had a wonderful time. Food was amazing and the rooms were even better.

Nice place, as for the food, was lovely but not much on the big plate they serve it on and the price of it was over the top, £13.45 for basic roast beef dinner, I wouldn't have minded really but the portions on the plate didn't match the price, I left the place feeling still hungry. The portion of beef was fine but with no more than about a tablespoon full of potato and very little vegetable it was very disappointing, and futher more not one member of the staff serving the food came to ask was everything ok with our meal, not even after we finished eating the dinner did anyone ask would we like a dessert, after sitting for a while I just went to the bar and paid the bill, needless to say I won't be back anytime soon if at all.

Great food. Great service even when they're busy. Games of Thrones door looks great, and the Hodoor Beer is tasty. Great pints in general.

Their traditional fish and chips tasted freshly caught and all of it was crispy. Even their dipping sauces were delicious.

Was there today nice place food very good sea food chowder bowl was very small for price over all good food but not cheap at all.

This is a very very friendly, and professionally run place to visit. Especially if you are hungry. They have a well groomed staff, who look after each, and every customers needs accordingly. If it's somewhere to stay the night, they can also accommodate that as well. Very homely.

Hodoor beer was so good! As game of thrones fans it was awesome to see some of the costumes and try the drinks. A great stop if you are going to Castle Ward and Winterfell castle! Food was delicious and very filling! Service was lovely.

We just went in for a coffee, and were treated extremely well. If your ever in Strangford it's worth a visit.

Really nice place. Had seafood chowder to start followed by breadcrumb cod and chips. Both dishes were excellent and were served with mussy peas. I would recommend the gin and tonic. Comes with the local gin Jawbox with honeycomb served in it. Liver and beacon dish also available upon request.

Ideal to stay during the Game of Thrones route. This small small family is run by a very good and exemplary service. The GOT theme dinner is taken care of in detail, we had a great! The normal menu is also exquisite, and the rooms are spacious, comfortable and very clean. You can't ask for more!

We had a lovely 2 night stay here. Breakfast was great and set you up for the day. Very friendly, and Col, well he is is such a great character with stories, jokes and the all important craic. Hope to stay here again.

Went to the Cuan as part of a GoT tour, I was not disappointed, the food was amazing (seafood chowder) it had an ornate door made from trees featured in the series and dummies dressed as Ned and Caitlin. The staff were very friendly and provided great service.

Amazing service! The game of thrones experience is so worth it! It's a small, simple and cozy hotel with great staff and fair price. I would recommend it to anyone that is looking for a few days away from the city or a big fan of game of thrones. Loved each moment.

We went here for a coffee a few months ago and it didn't disappoint. We have had meals here before and they are always terrific. Close to the loch and easy access to the ferry across to Portaferry. Staff are always very helpful and attentive.

The Can, in my opinion, is the only place I will stay when visiting Downpatrick. The staff are extremely friendly and accommodating and the owner, Peter, is an absolute gentleman. The food is amazing and it is all wrapped together neatly in a very affordable price range. Well worth a visit.

Another fabulous lunch at The Cuan. Beautiful food, so filling that I asked to take the leftovers, and Dale was so accommodating, wrapping it all up for me. Also able to bribg the dog in, water anf food provided for her too! Peter and Caroline have established a wonderful place, and all who work there are so friendly and welcoming.

A good hotel and restaurant, not far from Castle Ward, the scene of Winterfell.

Situated in Strangford close to the ferry. Great for a meal or just a cup of coffee. Staff very welcoming and service good.

Great service and very cool location. Food was delicious and they had a good selection of drinks. They have 1 of 10 of the wooden Game of Thrones Westeros map doors as well!

Had lots meals here at different time of the day. Every meal has been excellent, staff very helpful and friendly. Recommend the lamb or the chowder.

Great food, service from Josh was absolutely top notch, he couldn't have been more helpful or friendly.

Service was non-existant. Had to go get my own drinks from the bar and find the waiter to pay the bill 20 mins after it was left on the table. One dish was massively overcooked, one had a hair in it and the meal of one starter, one main course each took 2.5 hours before it was over. Avoid here!

The seafood chowder was the best I have had. My partners roast beef was also excellent. The lemon cake was awesome. Very friendly staff. Relaxed atmosphere, great place.

Lovely place for food. Food was all awesome but the staff were impeccable. Coming out to ensure we were OK, asking us if we had enough food and the chef also came out and introduced himself. Would definitely recommend!

A hearty lunch and marvel at the Game of Thrones inspired door, depicting scenes from the sixth season of the series. These intricate masterpieces are dotted across Northern Ireland, and were carved from the wood of the 200 year old beech trees at the Dark Hedges.

I did not sleep here but I enjoyed their fantastic seafood chowder. Much better than other places I have stopped! My whole party greatly enjoyed their food, you will not be disappointed :) They also have Game of Thrones stuff worth looking at, since the filming of several scenes happened nearby and a number of the actors enjoyed staying at the Inn here.

Excellent meal. Really friendly staff who went out of their way for us as we had a hungry child and they brought out bread to keep him going until his meal arrived and then gave him a football at the end of it. Food was lovely, the rare steak and the pear brule were the highlights.

Stopped in for a quick bite and to see the 1st door in the Game Of Thrones door adventure, Ned and Catherine Starks costumes and of course the Ice sword. Food was great and the wait staff was very friendly. Even stopped to talk about the show. Strangford is also the cutest little town. Worth a stop if you're checking out castle Ward and it's only an 8 minute drive out.

Lovely eatery and a lovely drive to get there. Parking is limited but we still managed as it's always flowing. It's part of the games of thrones tour pitstop and has some props from the set as well as one of the doors carved out from the trees from the dark hedges. This is part of of a series of doors to commemorate season 6 of the show. Food wise it's top quality and the staff are all very friendly. Good range of foods, but only the one I option for vegetarians unless you have fish then there is more than enough. The scampi and chips is amazing. Been there twice now and love it.

I wasn't overly impressed with the food. But the game of thrones door was very good.

Food wasn't too special, my chicken was supposed to be severed with bbq sauce but was served with a weird tomato sauce that wasn't very nice.

Very Northern Irish feel. Loved reading national geographic from 2004 that was in the bookshelf outside my room. Food was good pub food.

Always my aunts favorite when we come to visit! Great personal service from the owners who are always glad to see us again. There was even a greeting to us written on the sidewalk chalk board for us to see when we left this time. Nice touch!
