Walking by, noticed a Starbucks board outside so we popped in to the bar for a latte and a pint. Friendly, helpful staff, lovely, clean comfortable surroundings and much more relaxing that visiting a coffee shop on the main Street. A great find on a busy day.

Great place. Great staff. Very clean and comfortable. Great restaurant. Nice and quiet.

Very good. But some staff had a problem understand Scottish people.

Actually, the hotel could easily earn 5 stars. It's an alt-venerable beautiful house that's super central but still quiet. Our room was spacious and for such an old house neat in shot. Unfortunately, there is no minibar. The windows are still from the founding periods and therefore neither sound — nor temperature-insulated. The biggest deduction, however, is because of the cleanliness in the room. If the lamps, which were clean at first glance, were turned out a little, a thick layer of dust came out.

Very cold room. Good sign of Wi-Fi. Close to places of interest. Small and old beds. Recommended if you only go to sleep a couple of nights.

Sloping floors to the extent of stuff rolling off the table. Breakfast was all right.

All staff were extremely friendly. I opted for a single room as I was only staying overnight. This room was small as expected but the shower was almost too small for me to fit in! Did enjoy my time there and was perfect for catching the early train the morning after!

Working offshore and regularly travelling through Aberdeen this is definitely my favourite hotel. Unlike the other concrete and glass places to stay in the city, this is an old fashioned, proper hotel with a wooden furniture, tiled entrance area and friendly staff. The size of the rooms vary greatly but the quality doesn't, much better than the plastic fittings of the newer versions. The downside of such an old building is the creaky floorboards and noisy plumbing and its location only makes it prone to the sounds of early morning deliveries.

Good value for money but hate having to pay for the car park. A bit of money grabbing I think.

Lovely hotel in city centre you can get deals just a min walk to pubs and clubs.

Staff very good, room clean, location very good, food also good all in excellent.

Great central location in Aberdeen. Close to theatre, shops and restaurants. Some of the staff require training and the place could do with a bit of a freshen up but overall good value.

No question if Aberdeen would like to stay here again!

Very poor Christmas lunch for a staff party. Food was cooked uniformly badly. Everything seemed to have been prepared several hours before then reheated to the point where meat was desert dry and vegetables were paste. Vegetarian options weren't reheated at all… Perhaps in different (i. E. Non Christmas) circumstances the quality is higher, but it reflects badly on a business that accepts standards this low at any time.

Attended the Christmas ‘Glitter Ball’ with work colleagues on Friday night and it’s the worst bring a party to a party I have ever been to. False advertising would be an understatement. The whole night felt cheap and nasty, the service was poor, the food was not much better and the quality and selection of drinks we were served was appalling and insulting. Not to mention the playlist that more often cleared than filled the dance floor… did the DJ that was advertised call in sick? Luckily good company from colleagues saved the night and we weren’t tied into staying too long. We soon found somewhere better to escape to but I do feel we were robbed of our ‘party’ never mind ‘glitter ball’! I guess that explains why only 2 companies booked and there were empty tables…. I think it would have been less damaging to the hotel to cancel the night and give us our money back so we could spend it elsewhere on something more worth the money.

A bit dated, but comfortable, well priced and good service.

Room was clean and tidy. Only stopped over for the night but suited our purpose very well. My only issue was the room was extremely hot upon arrival and since we were a late check in it was almost unbearable. Staff were good.

We have stayed in the hotel before in a standard room which was fine. When we returned this time we booked a deluxe room, we were disappointed to find it was almost identical to the standard room also it didn't look if it had a proper clean in a while. When we checked out this morning it wasn’t a pleasant experience It's a shame because it's a lovely hotel which has let it's standards drop.

Room only stay. Room was nice all basics you would expect, bed was comfortable and the shower was worthy of a five stars on its own. Colleagues who stayed there as well agreed.

Went to a murder mystery party for my friends hen night, the staff were attentive, the food was great and the evening was loads of fun.

Had afternoon tea. Atmosphere was very quiet and the table was too small for all the stuff. Would. Have liked a variety of sandwiches and less cakes. Service was good.

Good Accor Plat treatment, central location, lovely views over sunken garden. Decent bar food. Room a bit warm, although I suppose no need for AC most of the year!

Small room, but well laid out. Probably the best shower I've used in a hotel. Comfortable bed, and clean room. Would definitely stay again.

I enjoyed my stay here. Nice spacious room. Central location with easy access to high street. Welcoming and friendly staff. Very limited parking though, had to park along the street in front of the hotel on own cost.

Goods with 4 person there by the end of April 2016. Rooms are clean and as good as new. Through the window, it draws however as "Pike soup" so that our (we had a double u 2 EZ) bathroom was cold; the heater has failed. They didn't have free parking despite prior booking. We had the expensive parking of nearby (approx. 6, — € for 2 hours) u use a parking lot later further away, which was also not cheap. Breakfast for extra. 10, — — GPF (12, €50) wrong price performance; We had to beg for butter (for 4 pers, there were 2 small pieces) and coffee was taken given up the jug back u. Not the point! Centrally located/but not cheap/only in case of emergency again. Our bed was there u break almost in Inverness this cheaper and with a rich breakfast.

Lovely room, with fantastic view over the gardens. Staff were so helpful and friendly, room service was prompt a d the food of a high quality and good value for money. Central location makes it easy to walk anywhere in town and quick to get a taxi.

I came here for my Christmas meal with my work and the whole thing was just an overpriced flop. Absolutely awful. To start, the menu was restricted to the point where there was absolutely no choice in what you were having (which for £40 you would at least hope you'd get two or three options per course, considering more reasonable priced restaurants offer this). For starter I was given a very shallow bowl of extremely average carrot and coriander soup. For main — the choice of gnocchi for vegetarians and turkey for everyone else — I had turkey, and it was extremely tasteless and dry, I had to ask for more gravy as the sliver that had been put on my plate was no where near enough, the amount of vegetables that accompanied it, were very limited and few. Then to finish it off was a sickeningly rich chocolate mousse dessert. Other disappointing reasons as to why I'm giving such a low review was at the time of booking we were told we would review a drink on arrival (which after booking mysteriously vanished and was swept under the rug), the price of drinks (£8.70 for a glass of large wine is ridiculous, by any standards, it was very mediocre and I did not purchase a second glass), the maintenance of the bathrooms was also very poor — went in to discover there was no toilet paper in more than one stall! For the premier price I was expecting a lot more.

The hotel is very well located. The problem is the soundproofing, seagulls are heard even with earplugs in your ears. Another issue is the light, there are no blinds so that early! The hotel also asked where go command to Old Aberdeen (almost 1 hour walk), having all the center of the city on the side. The next time I do not moves.
As counterpart is Pedro, a quaint uncle of Cantabria which prepared us a terrific coffee.

Keep off the grass, and wisely stay away from Thistles. I spent a week at a single room in this hotel because the one I usually frequent had been fully booked, and I both rue and lament it. What's wrong with the Thistle, in order of appearance: — room was tiny. Admittedly, large enough for one, but still substandard. Also, it had a draft — hot water pressure in the shower was feeble — complimentary shortbreads, tea and coffee were so well concealed, I only found them on my second evening of stay. — Wi-Fi charged at £6 per one and a half hour. Admittedly, you could economize on a longer lasting package, but still that's a quid every quarter! — if you expect your hotel to exhibit environmental care, you'll be disappointed — green message is almost invisible — mold developing on the shower screen door! — Plus to top it all off: I'm well convinced the cleaner nicked my coat hanger from the room! This might be fairly decent accomodation, but not for the rate they charge or for the way it is advertised. I can't honestly recommend it to anyone, unless there's no vacancy elsewhere in the city centre. I certainly am not returning, as I had stayed at much nicer hotels for that price in Aberdeen. On a plus, they've got a friendly service, but don't many other hotels just as well? I'd give it a two star, but I'm rather giving it one to balance out the fact they style themselves four-star.
