Very nice hotel and spot on for terminal access, lovely rooms.

Been here before and experience this time just as amazing. Upgraded to VIP with great freebies. Had a lovely meal at La Terraise with a cpl of glasses of fabulous malbecs. Stan’s service and friendliness was ab amazing, what a lovely, lovely man. Rooms is very nice indeed, safe provided, free mini bar, fruit, breakfast and drinks in VIP lounge. Unbelievable quality for a very fair price.

Always use the Sofitel, great rooms and you get a great night’s sleep beds so comfy.

We staying here before flying for our honeymoon! I cannot recommend it enough. The place is immaculately clean, wonderful friendly staff and can't forget to mention Emi who was on reception. She was fantastic and so welcoming. The beds are incredible! Will definitely stay here again if we fly from the North terminal again. Thank you for a perfect start to our honeymoon!

I'm not sure if its where I'm from but did I have to bite my tongue. Bad attitude 10/10 poor service 10/10 customer focus 0/10 feeling like I'm an inconvenience 10/10 pretty much felt like well apart from s$ nothing, not like I just paid to stay. absolutely shocking customer service I nearly checked straight back out. rooms not really cheap but shows why they have to use booking discounts websites. Clearly the higher up think its through lack of demand they are not booking up not the clear standards set from top to bottom in this establishment. More people use or avoid an establishment from word of mouth not the Internet and most bad experiences dont even review. most may be here tired, hungry passing to there next destination dont make the mistake that bad service won't make others avoid this place.

The food at the Urban café was exquisite. Fantastic way to start our holiday.

Awful service, no helpful staff and discussing and really cheap food, not mentioning that the lunch is always vegan or vegetarian without an option for the meet lovers like myself. Also, everyday we have to eat food with Indian spices and touches even without ask for it, I can eat it, which is okay, but not my cup of tea for everyday lunch, and there is no other options for lunch, so I’m obligated to eat spice and meet less lunch.
Walking time is very difficult to get as the security always says that they are busy, once we get downstairs, we can stay out for about 10min tops once a day. Really didn’t know that I was a convicted prisoner to be treated like this. I’m here for only 3 full days and since I arrived nothing has gone right. Let’s start to describe my nightmare staying at £1750 costs. (I know, sounds like a big joke) Day 1 — I arrived at 8pm and there was no dinner available even though I had my booking within 4 days in advanced.
I asked some water at around 9pm and went had to go to sleep at 2am without received the water that came only on the day after 10:30am. Day 2 — First call to reception to ask some water and breakfast at 8am. Few more calls at 8:30, 9:00, 9:30 and 10:00am. Breakfast and water arrived at 10:40am including a apple, a little carton juice and a small bag of cornflakes, hot food missing.

Appalling quarantine experience. Food is both awful and not enough to feed an adult, nutritionally inadequate. Security company are rude and near impossible to get hold of for exercise and have only allowed me 15 minutes, this includes 5 minutes for them to find their way out of the hotel. Nothing to eat their awful food with, no knife, no fork, only two teaspoons in the room despite many requests, including today three hours ago. Requested more tea and sugar for the room… nothing. Room hadn't been cleaned before my arrival, shavings in basin, dust everywhere, cable ties and wire clippings on the floor. No natural ventilation anywhere in the hotel. Piles of rubbish left outside in hallways all day long, mostly left over food in paper bags. No answer today from security to request exercise period, phone rang for over three and a half minutes, cut off once mid-way. Day two COVID test supposed to be outside my door by 9am today… nothing yet at 09.30.

It’s not the lie that bothers me, it’s the insult to my intelligence that I find offensive — this hotel quarantine needs to end on the phone to a security guard called ANDY is nothing but a liar who advised me at 4pm that somebody will be coming round to collect me and my son to go for a 15 minute walk so I waited patiently I ring back at 6pm and was told again that someone will be up shortly to collect us call back at 7.30pm and was told that walking time had finished at 7pm🤯 so shortly after I looked out the window and seen a family off 5 having a walk outside at 8.10pm so I picked up the phone and asked the same security what time it was he answered and I then said why is their a family of 5 outside for a walk he baffled and said oh it’s because they have children, oh so don’t I have a child? I then also said what about the people who suffer with depression? Call ended — absolutely disgusting behaviour!

Mostly good things to say but be careful if you book a room with lounge included. They are refurbishing at the moment and we weren't advised of this until we arrived. We were charged the normal price and weren't offered an alternative room. There was also no mini bar in the room. After I complained they removed the additional charge for breakfast but still feel like we got less than we paid for.

The Front Desk Staff were very Professional and created a great experience during check in. The room was very nice and clean. The staff answered all our questions. Job well done.

Stayed her with my husband for 1 night prior to our holiday. StFf very friendly and helpful — would definitely recommend here.

When paying more money you expect better rooms. Basic room Tv did not work properly nor did the remote.
Shower was awful low pressure.

Great hotel, stayed here lots of times, sadly the urban restaurant wasn’t up to scratch tonight. Service was slow, constantly had to chase to take orders then food took ages to arrive. Even had the excuse the toffee apple desert was cooking fresh yet it arrived stone cold. Not impressed tonight.

Fantastic room overlooking the run way, so a bonus to be watching the planes take off. Just had a wonderful meal and a couple of drinks, the service was excellent.

I made a error on my booking but Sofitel soon helped resolve the issues. We stayed here for the night 10/06/19. We were lucky to get a runway view. Great staff and great hotel. If I fly from Gatwick again I’ll be using this hotel. Just walk through the connecting tunnel to the airport, ideal if you have children and don’t fancy transfers. Would certainly recommend.

We stayed in a feature room on the 8th floor and had access to the executive lounge. Fantastic view and great food. Staff excellent the whole stay was most enjoyable.

Location is perfect pre or post flight. Accessible and comfortable.

It was in a great location if you are doing anything around Gatwick, but if you are staying here and don’t like sleeping on a marshmallow and having the softest marshmallows as pillows then book somewhere else. The pillows were that soft I dreamt I was eating a giant marshmallow and woke up with a pillow in my mouth. Lol.

Good quality room, very clean, good bathroom. Good value (Inc parking). Can't believe the short walk internally across a bridge straight into check-in in the airport, all airports/hotels should be this good.

Woke up at 3 o’clock in the morning because the aircon unit had a mind of its own and would switch itself on and off constantly, despite having switched it off before going to bed. The furniture was somewhat dated and the bathroom was small. And I am talking about a “Superior Queen Room with runway view”. The only good thing about the experience was looking out the window with said runway view. At £200/night, needless to say, I felt ripped off and that the price tag was just a premium for the view. I was so excited about my arrival but was bitterly disappointed.

Either staying overnight or if you just fancy just a different evening out, you will find awesome attentive staff. (especially the Concierge Boys). Lovely posh hotel feel with good food and coffee. Choice of daytime and night time eateries and bars. Evenings sitting in the upstairs Le Ciel bar once the daily "lighting ritual" is complete is a must especially in winter time. La Terrasse has a classy feel day or night. Just sit and watch the world go by before your flight… Rooms are super clean and comfortable. Can't recommend highly enough.

Perfect location to airport. Lovey big atrium lobby on which the restaurants back on to. Main restaurant service I found was slow and staff lacking understanding of what is vegan although they were very friendly. Rooms well maintained and modern. easy airport access, car park onsite for which costs.

Clean, reasonably appointed rooms conveniently located close to the Thames Rail line, and inside Terminal 2 at Gatwick. The room ammenities were dated and a little worn, acceptable for a budget hotel but not for a Sofitel which generally presents itself as a 5 star hotel. Staff were efficient, but just helpful enough to meet your basic requirements (no one is going out of their way to help anyone). I suspect that they recognize that they will only see you once, and put in just enough effort to get you through the turnstile. It colours the brand, seems a little shortsighted, and a wasted opportunity to promote longer stays at other locations?

Great location. It is probably the best place to stay at the Gatwick airport. Staff are very nice and welcoming. Good facilities — spacious room, comfy beds and big windows, air conditioners. We (family of four) had dinner at hotel restaurant Brasserie — recommended — tasty food, good vine and professional staff. However, weekend that we stayed in was very busy so we faced lines to reception desk and someone wiped out our hotel cards early in the morning, tried to open room…

Didn’t think it was worth the money, first time staying there always book the premier inn, a third of the price, and I saw no bonus in the expense, but there was no complaints.

This really is a tranquil place to stay and relax prior to your holiday. We were met at the hotel entrance by the valet service and our car was taken for safe parking for the duration of our holiday. Reception staff were polite and helpful and we were offered assistance taking our cases to the room. Our room was clean, bright and had a fantastic view over the airport terminal and runway (at extra cost). The room was still perfectly quiet with no noise from adjacent rooms or the neighbouring aircraft. We only had a light snack in one of the restaurants which wasn't cheap but was good, there were other restaurants to try but as we were only there for one night we didn't bother exploring them. The great advantage with this hotel is that it is joined directly to the airport terminal via an internal walkway. After a great night's sleep we were met by a hotel Porter at a prearranged time who assisted us and our cases straight through check out and then onto the terminal. I would definitely recommend this hotel, it's absolutely worthy of its 5 star rating. Many thanks for a brilliant start to our holiday.

This is a lovely hotel, with large, open and airy rooms. As you come in through the main doors, and up the escalators, at first, your breath is taken away by the sheer magnificence of the hotel lobby. Most of the rooms have a direct view straight onto the runway. Furthermore, the sky bridge, with a direct link to LGW departures is quick and easy. The reason why this loses a star is purely because of the price of the rooms, food and drinks.

This hotel is dated and starting to fray around the edges. Don't have any rooms that look out over the Premier inn because all you can hear all day and night is the shuttle train. Here and there duck tape covers the torn hallway carpets. Kettle and tea / coffee provided but no UHT or fresh milk. Staff were nice and friendly with good food. Sadly poor value for your money.

We've stayed here several times now and love its location, rooms and helpful staff. Got a good deal on parking with room, and booked a second room for my brother and partner. My only issue is how expensive drinks and food are! 1 Guinness, 1 beer, 1 whiskey and lemonade, 1 glass of wine £35! But other than that, a great way to start our holiday.

We booked for 1 night before flying back to Vancouver after our Mediterranean cruise. We got so lucky or surprised when we were informed that we were chosen as “guest of the day”! We got to enjoy all the luxury of upgraded guest for free! — on top of that, the services was excellent! We enjoyed our 870 room, runway view, foods & of course location. Thank you Sofitel!

Very nice clean and lovely staff. Restaurant and bar and so near to terminal we can walk it in five.

The room was with lounge access. Decent view towards the terminal. Room was modern, fresh, and spacious. Large window for the view, little noise from outside. Climate controlled and black out curtains. Bed was soft and warm. Lounge has a spectacular view of the airport. The coffee is good and most food as well. However, the breakfast offering is a bit light, Continental at best. The staff was welcoming and more than happy to help.

Lovely room with a very comfortable bed. I was lucky enough to be upgraded to a Superior Room, which I was very happy with. Bathroom was spotless and we were provided with robes and slippers. Check in was quick and easy.

Location was great, since it is attached to the northern terminal. Once you walk into the tunnel, you are welcomed by a fragrant aroma. The check in service was a breeze. There are 3 separate restaurants serving different menus, so you'll find something to eat. Overall, I had a great experience.

Wow lovely room, friendly efficient service with comfortable lounge area to unwind and have a drink/food, the perfect start to our holiday. We booked an over night stay with 8days parking for just a fraction more than we have previously paid just for park and ride. Will definitely be doing this again.

The customer service here is wonderful. After months of traveling, and a rough day with Norwegian Airlines customer service, the staff here made my husband's birthday in the airport feel special. I really can't thank them enough for being so responsive and accommodating. The room was lovely and great food as well! Highly recommend.

Very good hotel, just in front of the airport. Comfortable room, great experience in the lobby. However, the elevators and the breakfast waiting line were painfully slow.

High end hotel off the North terminal of London Gatwick airport. Excellent breakfast with both cold and hot foods. The breakfast is not complimentary. There are several restaurants here. It is also equipped with a fitness centre which you can use 24 hours a day. The rooms are spacious and cosy. Very good pillows. The service is quite good.

After our flight we decided to stay one night at this establishment. Surprising for its modernity, cleanliness and dealing with the client. The beds are comfortable and the staff are very friendly. Thank you.

Reception and portering staff all approachable and helpful, in that great open atrium space that is the core of the hotel structure. Room was fine, bed very comfy. Nice meal in the Brasserie. Drinks are dear though, and the loss of the downstairs bar a miss. Climbing up an oddly lit staircase to a very crowded bar wasn't the answer. Express check out appreciated as was the bill put through the door during the night. Thank you.

The room was comfortable. The porter was very helpful, showing us where everything in the room was and how to operate TV and A/C. All staff very polite and efficient in the Urban Cafe but too few for such a busy restaurant. Our waiter did his best but. He was excellent but we waited a long time to be seated despite tables being available and waited almost half an hour after being seated before our order was taken. The restaurant definitely needs more staff as this lets the hotel down.

Excellent customer service from arrival at the door by the concierge who were superb. Checking slightly informal and abrupt shame as the arrival and first impressions fabulous. The male receptionist who checked me in was training a female colleague which does not bode well for her. No eye contact from male receptionist curt and officious. Room absolutely great loved the large window and could watch planes take off. Ate in the Thai restaurant on site which was excellent, good customer service despite being incredibly busy, due to the busy restaurant noise levels not great and acoustics of the room did not help. Breakfast fabulous. Excellent access to the departure terminal overall a great start to holiday.

From the moment we walked in service was excellent. There had been a glitch when we booked as the system did not take payment. So I had to make a second booking. I was concerned that we may have had duplicated bookings. There was an initial difficulty find the booking but with the reference it was soon found. This only took a few minutes. But the big thing was that they quickly sorted out the booking and everything was fine. Excellent room, clean with superb facilities and good service. Easy check out everything we could want. This is our second stop there in about 5 years but will use them again when we fly from Gatwick.

Staff were all lovely. Rooms were very basic. We had the junior suite for £270pn which you would think would be lovely, but really it was just adjoining rooms with one bathroom. The decor was nothing special, the minibar was empty and there weren't even any robes. We ate in the hotel bar/restaurant and my meal was forgotten so my family had finished by the time I ate. My friend had the pizza which looked like the worst pizza I had ever seen, it was clearly a frozen one, nothing fresh about it at all.

My stay was acceptable. I arrived late at night and could not locate where the hotel was located, as I arrived in the wrong terminal. I was assured there would be adequate signs. Unfortunately, I did not realize I needed to change terminals and walked a long way before I found an employee to assist me with answers. Once the airport employee told me where to go to change terminals, I was almost there. After arriving at the correct terminal in pouring rain, with some searching I found the entrance to the hotel.

From the greeting at reception to departure, the whole experience was great. Staff were friendly, yet professional, the room was a good size, clean and comfortable. Great view over the runway through big picture window. Great place to overnight before flying off. Short walk across covered bridge to terminal.

The Sofitel hotel is very easy to find. The reception was clean, well presented and inviting, with an inside out feel to the main reception area, a bit like a covered court yard, with a fountain in the centre. I was attending a conference, so I was spent in the basement conference suit, this was clean, unfussy. I don't think the hotel is a cheap affair, but again you get what you pay! My negative was unsurprisingly in the car park for the hotels there it was extremely expensive, so beware there, but on the whole my experience was good and uncomplicated, which is what is needed when you are travelling, in which in its self is stressful. Good experience.

The Sofitel is very conveniently placed at the airport. If you arrive by train and then use the short shuttle between terminals the hotel entrance is still under cover at the North Terminal and not very far to carry suitcases etc. After an overnight stay just amble out of the hotel and the bag drop and check in positions are literally a few yards away, or hop back on to the shuttle to the South Terminal. Check in at the hotel was swift, the staff are very helpful. The room was clean, tidy and decorated well. What more do you need for a one night stay. The only downside is the cost of the room in proportion to the time spent there if you, like me arrive in the evening and have an approximate flight departure of say 05.30 hours.

We arrived at 9pm and parking and checking in were fine. The room was spacious and well appointed if a bit tired looking. We didn't want much to eat and wanted to go to the Terrace Bar but this was being renovated — the urban cafe had no tables and a waiting time but hey ho we were tired and just went to the bar for a drink and some crisps/nuts. The prices definitely reflected the premium location and the fact that there wasn't any choice but we had a good experience and it was great to get up (at 5am) and be able to do quick check out and walk out via the direct link to the airport.

First impression is a very clean clutter free and welcoming, staff very efficient and courteous and well presented. The facilities are more than adequate considering most people would only be staying for one night. A variety of places to eat/drink but to be honest we had room service and that was very good indeed. 8th floor room has fantastic views over the runway. Only gripe about the room was it's getting tired, most noticeable and glaring was the table in the room had been poorly and quickly repaired using, of all things, some screws that you fix a number plate to your car with, that's not a great repair at all, come on, how much is a table in the grand scheme of things? In the morning a very good early continental breakfast is served before 6 which is very good indeed, in my eyes you don't need a heavy breakfast before flying so this was excellent. And then a two minute walk along the connecting walkway and your there, simplicity in its self.

From the moment we stepped in to the hotel we knew we had made the right choice in staying here. The reception area is lovely and check in was very quick and easy. When we checked in, we were told that our room had been upgraded because it was the first night of our honeymoon and when we entered the room, it was beautiful, huge and with a view overlooking the runway. There was even a letter and a plate of chocolates left in the room for us. This was totally unexpected but a really lovely touch and it really added something special to our stay, so thank you so much. As for the night, we chose to eat in the Vanda restaurant and the food was incredible! In the room, the bed was incredibly comfortable and even though we overlooked the runway, we didn't hear the planes at all. We will definitely stay at this hotel again and can not recommend it highly enough!

Pleasantly surprised by the buffet at the La Brasserie and extra duvet was already put in our room. The hotel made a lovely congratulation out of a small dessert. We were let down a bit as the superior room seemed like a regular room, and we had upgraded for our after wedding travels. Hotel was very clean, view of the airport was beautiful, and you can't get any closer to the terminal. Would stay here again.

Good check in and helpful staff. Disappointed that the restaurants were undergoing a refurbishment. Temporary carvery was in a function room on a lower floor that lacked atmosphere and was expensive for a two course salad and carvery! Rooms seem ready for a refurbishment too. However, very comfy bed & pillows, well located power points, sound proofed, good black out curtains, pleasant complimentary toiletries, easy check out and great location. Therefore overall satisfied!

Great location compared to Gatwick airport — very friendly, professional and kind staff — nice interior design — I was not very happy with the Vanda restaurant.

This is my fave airport hotel, great location, excellent breakfast and only a short walk through the tunnel to the airport. Book the family room and you actually get two clean large adjoining rooms. You know your on the way to your holiday when you walk up the tunnel.

I would like to congratulate the staff on duty on the 18th Sept around 8pm for the help they gave myself and partner collecting a car after a flight from Sicily with Easy-jet. My partner received an injury at the airport in Sicily and was offered no help from Easy-jet, so thanks again Sofitel we have stayed before and will stay again.

Location is right next to the north terminal so ideal for early flights. The hotel has all you need, comfortable and quiet rooms and three restaurants.

I have stayed at the Sofitel several times before early morning flights and am always very glad that I did. The hotel is connected to the North terminal via a short walkway making it very easy to reach at any time. It has a beautiful central atrium with several restaurants, including an excellent Asian restaurant that is quite a treat for an airport hotel. The rooms face onto the atrium and are very comfortable. The British Airways arrivals lounge is on lower ground floor.

Can't fault it after many stays.

I really like the beds, these are like clouds. I use this hotel few times in year and I've never been disappointed — good choise of meals and very good breakfasts. And I like the very comfortable way how to get to city centry by Gatwik Express fast-train as I don't have to wander outside of Gatwick terminals or use buses.
