A very good time we had and the service was great.

Had an excellent Sunday afternoon with a great view and food was excellent. Definitely recommend coming here.

Such a shame, the food was awful. Really over cooked. Nice venue and great staff x.

Lovely pub to just sit and watch the amazing sunsets, lovely atmosphere and the staff are all very accommodating and friendly.

Great takeaway today under safety guidelines. Well done The Victory.

Staff don’t care, more interested in entertaining their friends, this could be such a great pub. Can’t wait for the Coast to reopen.
PS How can you over fill a pint of Guinness ffs.

We had a lovely and very clean room, staff very helpful and friendly. We will be stay there again for a night, later in the year. Lovely stay.

Ran out of a lot of food and drink, only accepted cash, toilets were really dirty, such a shame used to be lovely.

Great location, large beer garden, looks lovely from the outside.
Inside is a different story… toilets are disgusting. A real shame.

For a nice looking restaurant we was surprised to 1) have a glass presented with lipstick all around the top like it's acceptable. 2) muck up the order. 3) bring out burnt yes BURNT fish not once but bloody twice.

Hadn’t eaten in the Victory since the refurb, new menu & new chef so was excited to try it. It was amazing, one of the best burgers I’ve ever had friendly, quick service & reasonably priced! 100% will eat here again & I highly recommend it.

Had lunch today, Aberdeen burger was huge and really delicious. Good service and nice staff, shame about the rain but the food made up for that. Will come again.

Good food and service at reasonable prices. Haddock and chips hot. Wished had mushy peas though. Would visit again if in west mersea.

We came here because the fish place opposite was jam packed. We all ordered the cod & chips but we're not expecting anything amazing, but were pleasantly surprised to find that is was really good. The place itself is a reasonably nice pub with outdoor seating, although we say inside. The staff were very friendly and attentive.

Great location and spacious outside area overlooking the water. Probably a good place to take kids. Reasonable prices. However, everything is ok rather than good or excellent so don't expect an upmarket or quality experience.

Stayed one night in a newly refurbished balcony room overlooking the harbour. The room cost £120 including a ' free' breakfast. I don't think I have ever stayed in a smaller double room, to say it was cramped would be an understatement. The balcony is shared with two other rooms and has no privacy also the weather was extremely hot and there are no fans provided, when we mentioned this in the morning the staff were not in the least bit interested. Now on to our ' free breakfast '. We stayed here last year and our morning meal was of a very high standard and could not be faulted. We went to sit in the main restaurant, when as residents we were redirected into a refurbished bar, very nicely done but our food and service was not. There was fruit juice but no glasses or cutlery for a poor selection of cereal, no fruit, yoghurt, butter or side plates there were however four croissant between at least seven guests. Our cooked breakfast consisted of one of each of the following, fried egg (no choice), sausage, black pudding, bacon, toast (no butter) small portion of beans and some sloppy frozen mushrooms and half a tomato. I nearly forgot about the smallest cup of coffee I can ever remember having. The owners have spent and are spending a lot of money on the premises and would appear to be cutting costs elsewhere. I suspect that if I came in as a non resident for breakfast I would have been served something entirely different!

Nice large pub restaurant with garden area. You can dine indoors or out. Service is good, fish could be a little better.

Wonderful pub and hotel. Right on the waterfront with lovely views. Great staff, great accommodation and brilliant food. Would recommend to everyone wanting to stay on Mersea.

Had a lovely lunch here. I had a sandwich, and my friend had scampi and chips. The quantity and quality of the food was very impressive. We both thoroughly enjoyed it. With the sandwich you got crisps a d salad. Witj the scampi and chips, there was a lot of food with salad too. We sat in the garden, so you had a great view. The children's park area in the pub garden was probably the best I'd ever seen in a pub garden! We were like WOW! Shame we didn't have any little ones with us to enjoy it! Lovely pub for a lunch or just a drink in the garden.

9 of us Waited about about 1 hour 20 mins the food came up not cooked it was a roast dinner with a Yorkshire pudding The Roast potatoes was so hard you could not cut in to them The vegetables was not cooked A roast dinner always comes with Yorkshire pudding but there was none. Other dinners were not cooked and sent back in the end we got up and walked out very disappointed as it was I fathers day present never happened just point out for hours of driving from great Yarmouth Norfolk would never use again and to add to the above the fire door where I was sitting was lock I asked and told the door was broken bad fire risk as it was the only door out in that Area so you are all warned.

Waited over an hour n half for food, which at best was ok, shabby interior and exterior…, food expensive for the quality, even the cutlery looked dirty, menus on pieces of paper with only a few food options … only good thing was the park for kids… will not be returning and wouldn’t recommend to anyone.

The new park is brilliant for the kids and the location. Food is ok nothing special. I haven't tried the roast yet so might be good? Parking is bad but that's the whole beach front on busy days.

We stayed at the victory last night. It was a gift from parents to celebrate our 25th wedding anniversary room was lovely every thing you need and staff very accomaditing to supply extra milk /tbags etc on request
Balcony lovely looking over the harbour sat out until late evening. Only downside to room was it was very hot even though we had doors open until 11pm as you cant really leave large window in bathroom open as balcony had steps from carpark and worried about security. Had an evening meal and was great good size portion, hot and not along wait at all considering pub as very busy.
Disappointed with breakfast served between 9 and 11 went down at 9.30 and no fruit juice or fresh fruit other then apples, limited pastrys which were dry. Fruit juice was replemished after my husband asked in bar. Cooked breakfast well presented on plate but cold and bacon cooked to a crisp couldn't swallow it. For the rates paid I was expecting a better breakfast and after a lovely meal I had high hopes. Heard waitress telling another costumer (I think a friend) how she had had an amazing breakfast down the road with large portion really good value. Not what you want to hear really when you are chewing on leather bacon.
Overall lovely room fantastic views just needs a bit more attention on breakfast.

Wonderful outdoor play area for children, unfortunately on the day we visited the kitchen closed at 5, so we had to leave after one drink to eat somewhere else. Beautiful views.

I have eaten here twice now and the food, service has been outstanding every time. Recommend.

Food was brilliant and service quick and excellent. Views by the window are great.

Atmosphere is alright, service was slow, food took 35-40 minutes and It wasn't busy (2 other tables occupied). Food was average or a bit better than average depending on what you order. I recommend the chicken burger, 1.5" and cooked perfectly. The other meals were alright. I can't imagine the wait time on a busy day.

Lovely outlook with south facing windows that get the sun in winter. Dog friendly which was good. Food average at best and over priced. Took over an hour to bring out kids meals (very annoying with starving kids). Brought meals for a table of 6 out seperately (meaning 2 people ate way after everyone else had finished). Service terrible. Well meaning staff but disorganised and un-attentive and generally seemed about confused.

Low on seafood for a Christmas Eve though I appreciate they'd been busy. Tables sticky. Given a cup of water with no teabag in it. Till wasn't working properly and had to take my card twice. Ladies toilet had a floor covered on water in the accessible toilet. Though liked it's naming as opposed to disabled toilet. Not a too impressive visit. But they do have the monopoly there.

The victory is a great pub, and place to stay… the food is lovely, and the staff are great… its a lovely relaxed atmosphere… XXX.

Visited on a quiet midweek winter evening — and it was quiet, but not in a bad way. Friendly staff, pleasant food and great location for the West Mersea waterfront.

We were told by friends this place had just had all their rooms re done so we thought we would give it a try! Welcomed by a nice member of staff who checked us in promptly, showed us to our room and showed us the amenities. Room was lovely and warm, clean and presentable, such a fitting decor for where it is placed. We were in one of the rooms that over looks the boats with our own balcony and it was lovely to wake up to the sound of the boat poles clinging and open the door…s to pure fresh air. We went into the pub in the evening and played a couple of games of pool and had a drink, ambience was nice and all staff were approachable and friendly. We went for a chilled night away, and set ourselves up in the room nice and early with our hot chocolates and snacks that were provided — such a perfect touch! Slept like a log, the beds are comfy with lovely pillows (unlike some hotels where you might as well sleep on the floor) The bathroom is one of my favourite parts of this little gem — so modern and stylish with a fab powerful shower! We sat in the conservatory part of the pub for breakfast overlooking the boats, whilst waiting for our Full English and Eggs Royale. Breakfast arrived promptly was hot and delicious one of the best Eggs royale I’ve had! We are usually the type to go and stay in an ultra modern 5* hotel in London, but The Victory is definitely one of my ‘go to’ places to have a night away!

Apart from the great location, we had friendly service, good beer & wine, and a great Sunday roast, also a very good kids menu. I understand new owners took it on a few months ago, they seem to be doing a good job! We'll certainly be back.

Well established pub, lovely location in west mersea. Under new management but they are very welcoming. Dog friendly. Food was wholesome and good quality. They also have rooms upstairs if you want to stay over.

Coastal pub, currently undergoing an ownership change. Will be interesting to see what happens as the place is good at the moment and I only expect it to get better!

Great rooms within a friendly atmosphere. Attracts nice people and the staff were helpful and forthcoming. I felt welcome from the moment I arrived.

Beer was fine (Brewers Gold) but overpriced. £3.95 for an ale and £5.10 for a bottle of Old Mout Cider is asking a bit much. Also, beware having to pay 50p charge on card payments under £10. Otherwise, nice pub, food looked good and good beer garden overlooking the estuary.

Good place to visit with lots of outdoor seating for the better weather. Play area for the younger kids and reasonable for disabled access. One star reduced as is on the higher side of drink prices but probably no different than a lot of higher end pub prices these days. Staff always friendly and helpful. Can get busy in summer months.

Great place to eat, visited here on mother's day and food was amazing, so good we went back the week after, when busy, food takes a little while but we'll worth the wait as all freshly cooked, great atmosphere and friendly and very polite staff. Has outside eating and a fenced play area so great for eating/drinking while kids play.

Good, quality food and helpful staff. Restaurant and bar area faces the sunset in the evening. Not giving a 5 star rating as their selection of real ales is on the small side. Their food menu could also reflect more of the town's affinity with oysters.

A very pleasant country pub and restaurant serving pub grub. Good food at reasonable prices with some free parking.

Our second time here, great location overlooking the marina and very child friendly. Food was really nice and reasonable and staff were excellent with the kids. The children's playground was a bit on the tired side but that's not to say the kids didn't love running around it! All in all 5 stars, will be coming back hopefully when the weather is on our side!

Lovely atmosphere, food and staff. Accommodation could do with a tiny bit of sound proofing, but all in all a fabulous venue!

Fantastic location in mersea. Tidy bar, tasty food, comfy apartment rooms with slightly thin walls.

Good location overlooking the Blackwater Estuary, car parking, good food and beer. Large outside area if you hit a sunny day.

Great value for money for a very nice family room, with a good breakfast included. Nice location would stay again.

We spent a lovely sunny afternoon in the beer garden of The Victory last Monday. The menu is full of fresh fish and seafood and a variety of pub grub, all very good value too. Lovely staff, lovely food, lovely venue with the garden overlooking the docked boats and the Blackwater Estuary. Car parking a bonus too.

Large bar, with really nice outside seating area outside. Views overlooking the marina. Also hosts the occasional beer festival. Service good and staff are friendly.

We stayed on a Wednesday night. The staff were very helpful and seeing we had a dog we couldn't leave unattended they set us up a breakfast table in the bar area as no dogs are allowed in the restaurant quite rightly. The chef kindly prepared my wife mushrooms not cooked in butter in the morning as she is vegan which was thoughtful of him and they were kind enough to start breakfast half an hour earlier than the specified 9.0am so we could get on our way; very obliging. We had the 'dog friendly' Garden Room that is fine and nivce and peaceful and a big BIG plus for me was the fantastic drencher shower wet room however the shower drain is a bit whiffy. We missed ordering an evening meal by 8 minutes which was a shame and a trek into town for a chippy proved fruitless as they closed at 9pm so we dined on peanuts & crisps. Great coastal walk other side of the board walk; would like to return one day and If we did we'd be very happy to stay at The Victory again.
