The carvery is lovely and all the staff are brilliant and very helpful especially Coral who always makes sure we have everything we need.

Amazing food with a lovely waitress called Cameron who was brilliant to my family and had a constant smile on her face. She also recommended a great meal for my nan who is very picky. Can’t wait to come back!

Just home from a 2 day break away, and would like to thank you so much for making it a lovely experience. All of the staff were friendly, the room was clean and the view was outstanding! oh and the food, so good! we will definitely be back in the summer!

Had a lovely Sunday carvery. All staff were friendly and efficient. All items at the carvery were hot, there was a great selection and it was constantly topped up/tidied. The menu has a huge selection — something for everyone. I'll definitely pop back for another visit.

Came here for a festive lunch with a group of friends from the Gorleston Furry friends walking group, pre ordered what we wanted. Staff were very polite, plenty of meat good choice of veg, big portions of desserts which was very nice. Would recommend.

Sadly even with the 50% off atm carvery food is not hot, myself and partner had carvery mine was gluten free and not very warm, other half had normal carvery and that wasn't very warm either, when telling the waitress about it she said "oh so sorry I will tell the kitchen but we haven't had any other feedback of food being warm" as leaving another family were complaining food wasn't even warm. Use to be a lovely carvery.

They may day thry have covid mrasures in place buy the place was rammed and not many respecting social distancing. Hour wait for mediocre food at expensive prices. Staff over whelmed and rude. Not family friendly.

Went here for a Carvery and I can easily say it was the best Carvery I’ve ever had. Spot on!
Clean, friendly, adhered to all Covid regs, was really impressed. Will eat in there next time we come to Lowestoft xx.

Stayed overnight. First room was quite small, not the deluxe we thought we'd booked, but we were moved to a much larger lovely room with views. Staff friendly, polite and helpful. Food good at dinner off main menu, not carvery and breakfast excellent.

Had our Christmas dinner there today. Everything was perfect, the food and the service could not be faulted.
It's a pity some people overfill there plates and then cannot eat it all, such a waste. I guess they have the attitude of "I paid for it anyway" but it's still a waste. Will book again for next year.

Such polite and friendly staff, nothing too much trouble, wonderful Carvery generous portions of meat and huge selection of vegetables that were all piping hot home made Yorkshire’s, can confidently recommend you will not be disappointed.

Had the sirloin with side iorder of onion rings. Beautifully cooked — medium to well — and hot!

Had our wedding here Saturday and it was amazing everyone made our day special and run so smoothly all the staff are so lovely and friendly. Especially our wedding coordinator Lindsey she is amazing, sad we wont be having our meetings anymore. Thankyou so much for making our day perfect.

Went for lunch and had the carvery it was delicious, plenty of choice and very friendly staff, will be going back Sunday with the family. Children’s menu was excellent as well with a good choice of food and drinks.

We came here for my mums birthday, the food was lovely, an amazing place. BUT my daughter has a bad allergy to dairy, there was only one dish she could have and no desserts on the menu. The waitress was lovely and made her a fruit salad. We were told by our waitress, that they used to do dairy free ice cream but had stopped. Also, when ordering the food they said that the chicken nuggets used to be dairy free but have now changed. It would be nice to have a little bit of choice for people with allergies.

This is our second visit we had a few problems but they have now been resolved. The staff here are so pleasant and efficient can't praise them enough.
Food is great plenty of choice and the carvery is first class.

Stayed overnight in a room over looking the broads, we chose a carvery for a change, and it was fantastic, lovely well cooked meats and veg, all in all an enjoyable stay.

Have eaten the Wherry carvery meal on five occasions so far. Good selection of meats, although the beef is tasty it is always cooked more than I usually like. Vegetables are good and plentiful. The staff are friendly and helpful.

Room was disappointing. Described as deluxe but was just a small standard room with a balcony. Super view of Oulton Broad though. Food, especially Carvery, was excellent. Staff very efficient and friendly. There is no lounge as such, just a very large rather noisy restaurant popular with casual boaters and visitors. Overall a good experience though.

Pleasant restaurant and bar with hotel accommodation upstairs. Traditional feel. Separate dining room with carvery and deserts. Large open bar area and conservatory that is good for social drinks and people watching. Friendly and professional staff. Parking for customers.

The food was so delicious. Tender moist meat, roast potatoes that were crispy on the outside and fluffy inside. The vegetables were just right. The gravy was really meaty and there were free mini sausages (some places charge extra). The chef is very generous with the meat and friendly, he took 5 minutes to chat and exchange some humour and had us all laughing. The bar staff were all polite and friendly and were quick to call more staff if customers started waiting. The drinks were very well priced and the restaurant was very clean, light and airy. Definitely recommended for a carvery with friends or a perfect place for a family meal.

Stayed in the Wherry hotel arrived very early but Sue on reception arranged for our room to be cleaned as a priority so very short wait which was really appreciated we are vegan and the chef on the carvary went out of his way to explain every thing than was suitable and made us our own gravy, all staff very friendly room spotlessly clean with fantastic view.

We stopped of for a bite to eat whilst on a hike. The staff were lovely and polite and helpful. The food was was at best basic but I wasn't expecting the Ritz and it was adequate for our needs. Service was quick.
Clean facilities too.

The carvery as usual was first class. A good choice of meat and vegetables at a reasonable price in a pleasant location.

Amazing setting next to Broads, especially if you get to see sunset. Carvery and dessert tasted delicious. Main hot and nice hot plates. Only small thing to mention was some of the veg looked a bit on the dry side. Probably due to not being too busy so not rotated quickly. Tasted fine though with the fabulous thick gravy. £12.95 for 2 courses which is great value IMO.

Best carvery for miles. Lovely views of Oulton Broad. Watch the sun go down on the broads while eating your meal, lovely!

Staff friendly and helpful bed comfortable room a bit small bathroom very small as bath is a puddle, sink to big for bathroom kept trapping my hand. Shower fantastic. Good food reasonable prices.

Food was OK, coffee had lack of options (sizes), waiting staff seemed more interested in chatting to each other than doing thier job and then it took 3 of them to clean 1 table while we were trying to attract their attention. Not overly impressed.

I came for dinner yesterday with my family, which included my 1 year old who has pretty severe allergies.
The staff were so helpful and accommodating to ensure he could eat a safe meal.
I was massively impressed with the steps they took and we really appreciate the effort they put in!

Went with some friends for a roast. You have to order the vegetarian mains in advance so they can preprepare them, comes with a veggie gravy. I found the gravy to be very thin and they don't give you very much. Other than that, the food is fine & staff are helpful.

Great food, the carvery is the best, meat is always excellent with a great variety of vegetables… the roast potatoes & parsnips are always superb. Had a family meal there on Sunday (28/1/18) … Excellent & great staff to.

Hotel set in a nice location near the river on one side, and a busy main road on the other side. Check-in was easy and hassle free. The room was clean and reasonably modern, but as it is an old building, the floorboards are very squeaky! The staff are friendly and helpful. Evening meal was poor, I had fish and chips which arrived quickly, maybe too quickly as the fish was very undercooked. After my meal, some other diners asked me about the fish, as they said there's was 'horrible', so it wasn't just my meal that was undercooked. Breakfast was very nice, a full English buffet style service with fruit cocktail, croissants and yoghurt for those who prefer a healthier start to the day. I would have given 4 stars, as generally a very nice hotel, but the evening meal let this down.

Reasonable service, well stocked bar, coffee not for my taste. Some ok rooms but several small rooms. Good location by Oulton Broad. Some rooms with great views. Good carvery but not much crackling and meat is a little lightly cooked for my taste. Very hard working, polite staff, nothing too much trouble.

Booked here last minute as needed to stay overnight. Upon arrival, reception had all my details already to hand and prepped (booked online within the hour). You’d be surprised how long this takes other hotels to have your details ready. Reception explained all I needed to know, recommended nice places to eat that evening, decided to stay in and walk to the on site restaurant. Overall, great stay and will probably come back to the area and hotel for a visit.

A nice, albeit old fashioned in design, restaurant and hotel. Personally have not experienced the hotel stay experience, only the restaurant. This was typical of a carvery — prices and food of normal competative price. No issues but nothing spectacular. Enough parking spaces, reservations are available and the staff wear a smile along with their neat uniforms.

Had a post Christmas carvery with family and it was lovely. Food as great and being a carvery was able to load up my plate and as a great price. Desert and drinks were also fantastic.

Nice to be upgraded to a room with a view over Oulton Broad. Clean warm room with a shower that was plenty hot enough at all times. Wall TV in the room made my neck ache as was placed too high for a small single. Tea and coffee making facilities in room, never enough products I have learnt to take extra with me, saves the hassle of going to get more. Help your self breakfast included in price of room. All the staff were pleasant and helpful. I have stayed in the past and would definitely stay there again. Good parking front and rear of the building. They advertise a service for weddings and have a large function room on the side of the main building.

Great carvery, tasty meats, lovely parsnips. Yorkshire's were a bit crispy but we're replenished just as we went to sit down. They had run out of Pepsi so Pepsi Max was the only option but didn't detract from a very good meal.

Fish pie was a nice, vegetables were pretty standard/bland. Other people had a lot of choice with their carvery it seemed and were happy. It was busy so service was a little slow but it is Xmas time. The doors out to the broads are out of use for some reason and there aren't any ashtrays at the front of the building.

Beautiful place and beautiful surroundings but carvery isn't up to much. I have been here many times before and always had the carvery but I don't think I'll bother next time. I'm a vegetarian so they do offer you a veggie tart or nut roast which veggie gravy which is good but the vegetables and the couliflower cheese and the Yorkshire puddings are always dried out hard and crunchy from being under the lights for so long. Myself and my family came in for about four o clock the same as many other families with young children and we're all greeted by this dried out food. There is no excuse for this at the busiest time. The vegetables should be filled with new ones. Definitely not worth the prices we paid! My advice is if your going there for something to eat choose a menu option never never choose a carvery!.

Pro's: Friendly staff, room was of a good size, clean, quiet. Beautiful, scenic views in the restaurant overlooking the water. Cons: Restaurant can get very busy on weekends, (*especially Sunday)

It's a local hotel to our holiday cottage that we enjoy visiting for pre dinner drinks or light lunch. Pleasing Art Deco decor and we like to appreciate that in their lounge; or sit in the conservatory and enjoy the views over Oulton Broad. They do offer a Carvery each day Sunday though is a couple of pounds more, but still very affordable. Usual salads, ribs, jacket potatoes and good sandwiches or baguettes on the menu. Lovely friendly staff, make visiting a pleasure.

Great location at the entrance to Oulton Broad. Staff helpful and friendly. The carvery in the evening is excellent value for money. Breakfast caters for pretty much everyone. Rooms clean and tidy; those with a view over the broad are even better.

Absolutely loved our weekend away at the Wherry Hotel. We booked the junior suite and it was ideal, nice big room with a sofa and balcony, modern decor and phenomenal view over the broad. The staff were friendly and welcoming and the carvery and breakfast were great. Would highly recommend the Wherry fir a short break.

Family friendly and good food — carvery style! Beautiful views over the Broads and even offers rooms for that all important break. Function rooms for hire including the Wedding package. All this and only a short trip to the beautiful sands of the Lowestoft beach. PERFECT, even for a drink from their bar while sitting outside by the water, cannot ask for more!

The surroundings and staff were lovely and the meal was ok. I think the carvery looked really good but we ordered from the menu. The choice was good but there seemed to be quite a bit of frozen food brought out. I thought it would be more made and prepared on site. I'd go again, as the setting was lovely too.

Stayed for one night and this is the first hotel that I can say "I really want to stay there again". Such lovely staff who make you feel welcome immediately, big thank you to Sue on reception, she was so bright and cheerful it made my day. Yummy carvery, comfortable beds and a gorgeous view. Great location when the sun is out and the river has speedboat racing on. The place was very busy but we found a table easily and service was refreshingly quick and polite. The place was clearly we'll run and tidy. Food was good value drinks normal. Well worth a stop.

Really good quality carvery some chefs more generous than others with the meat. But always lots of choice and fresh. Bar can be slow, but really friendly staff.

The Wherry has been modernised and turned into a large eating establishment, the Carvery is very popular and Sunday's are the busiest (expect a wait) saying that the food is good, well cooked & tasty. Good value food under £30 for 2 meals and a drink each. Good time to visit is around 3-5pm quiet and relaxed.

The bar tennder conrad was very cheeky custmer servive very poor I wont visited again as he short changed me very pòor standards to a recomended hotel.

A lovely big old hotel in a great location. Rooms are nicely refurbished and the one we stayed in (a Junior Suite) was quite big — we needed one with two beds for an additional child. My only complaint about some of the rooms is they looked out onto the road which can be a little noisy (though not as bad I was expecting) and obviously less appealing than looking out onto Oulton Broad. Ours looked out onto a busy roundabout which wasn't ideal and there was a problem with the plumbing that meant the water took ages to get warm. Because the hotel is quite sprawling it's easy to get lost, especially as the hotel also doubles as a popular pub/carvery downstairs. It was also very difficult to get served in the bar on a night time — especially with a wedding going on. Food on an evening was pretty good (I can see why the carvery is popular) but breakfast was a little disappointing for the money with limited choice while we were there (they were waiting for a fruit delivery! ). For the money (we paid £120 a night including breakfast) I would say the hotel is a little on the pricey side, but it's in a very good location and we generally enjoyed our stay there.

The hotel was very nice, good location, room was nice. Just one gripe which tarnished the stay. I went into the hotel through the wrong entrance for the reception. I was struggling with a few bags and saw a girl at the bar who saw me then she blanked me and walked around to the other side of the bar. Strange I thought, but I continued to the other side of the bar and asked for directions with no problems. When I went down to the bar later in the day, there was nobody manning the bar, I stood there for a while and staff would see me go behind the bar but disappear again before they served me. By this time a queue had formed behind me. This situation was repeated the next night, at first I thought the staff must have had a problem with me but sitting next to the bar and talking to colleagues it was just a general lack of training/ customer care. If you are reading this bar manager the service is poor, there were a lot of staff on but not that many customers, so there were no excuses. You need to train your young staff properly and ensure that people are not stood waiting at the bar forever to order food/drinks. (finishing on a good note, later on in the first evening one of the young staff was on the ball) Its a shame because this is a nice hotel, and I would have given it 4stars.

Stayed one night in blustery November. Lovely situation, right on the Broad and by a bridge and marina. Fairly handy also for small local shopping parade and station. It's like a big pub/carvery restaurant with rooms upstairs. We had lovely room overlooking the water. Perfectly good room for a night with all facilities you would expect. Did not eat here in evening, but breakfast was good with a big, self service buffet. The Wherry is very good value for money in my view, and its situation puts it above most other similar hotels in the area.

Stayed her for 1 night with the family lovely room very clean, carvery was very nice good selection of vegetables and sauces, meal food was okay but I feel bigger portions was needed for the price we paid for the food. Nice location and great seating outside the hotel where you can enjoy a drink with a view.

Great little beer festival not to be missed.

Manager rude. We booked a table a week before and was on his sheet but not reserved and table gone when we arrived. We booked this table because we had someone in a wheel chair. Shocking attitude when he discovered his error and just shoved us in a corner. We will NEVER come back. I suggest others don't go in the first place.
