Lovely hotel in a beautiful setting. Rooms very spacious, clean and well maintained. Would definitely recommend and revisit when in the area.

Where do I start! This Bed and Breakfast COMPLETELY exceeded my expectations! Our room was stunning, clean and beautiful and the decor was lovely! The staff were amazing, very attentive and nothing was too much for them. The food was completely delicious — 10/10 in fact and the actual grounds / scenery around the B&B were incredible. I honestly couldn’t fault this B&B at all — I have recommended this place to every single person I know and you will certainly be seeing me again! Thank you very much Moat House!

We came for afternoon tea and got to say we were very disappointed. Glasses dirty and lipstick mark. The sandwiches not the nicest I’ve had, bland and boring, no taste at all. Small selection on cakes, scones that not the best tasting either. For £25 each we expected more, better as we’ve payed less in tea rooms, coffee shops for much better food. Think someone needs to go try some afternoon teas in other establishments and get some tips. I would recommend The Canal side in Great Haywood that is exceptional and worth the money. Really didn’t want to leave a bad review and disappointed that I’ve had to.

Absolutely beautiful hotel surrounded by stunning scenery. We celebrated our 30th wedding anniversary with friends and family and the staff were incredible. We couldn't have asked for a better day and the food was amazing.

Had a Gender reveal here today with 16 people and I cannot talk more highly of this place. The staff and how they look after you is amazing! They will do anything to help even finding us umbrellas at last minute! The restaurant staff have the most amazing customer service skills! A massive shout out to Caitlin, she is one of the nicest and most helpful staff I have ever come across. Even the attention to detail on the table set up and the cute it’s a boy plates etc at the end. If you are thinking of booking there then go for it!

The perfect wedding venue, with the most tentative staff. Right from the very start when booking with Chloe, the Moat House have been informative, flexible and accommodating. Our wedding day was seamless, and we were able to have the menu exactly how we wanted it, the venue exactly how we imagined and our dogs there as dogs of honour 😎 The grounds are beautiful, so are the ceremony rooms and bedrooms! We received so many compliments from our guests! Thank you again for being everything we hoped for, and more!

Food is really good. Service could be better. Ended up going to the bar to get drinks.

£183 for afternoon tea for 7 — we had 1 bottle of wine & 3 cokes — but they were under staffed & didn’t replenish until asked & then not much choice — very disappointed ☹️

Had a beautiful afternoon tea with the family. Staff were really nice. Replenished with more sandwiches and cakes and tea or coffee. Highly recommend it.

Wreath making class today which was great fun. Included tea/coffee and minced pie on arrival, a lovely afternoon tea included and ended with mulled wine and another minced pie. The staff were incredibly attentive and nothing was too much for them. The location itself is beautiful and would highly recommend.

Utterly shocked and disappointed with the service received at The Moat House on Saturday. Waited 30 minutes for first drinks, waited 45 minutes for the second drinks after being asked three times if we’d received them, coffee was cold and the Estrella turned out to be a lager shandy.
The staff needed somebody to take control of the situation to ensure drinks orders were fulfilled.
They also weren’t aware of table numbers and layout, and seemed to be guessing orders.
While sat at our table, we saw numerous parties moving from table to table, with no sanitisation taking place.
Maybe if you can’t keep up with the demand of orders, unable to have more than one person behind your bar and ensure the tables are sanitised you should reduce your capacity until you are able to do so.

Such a beautiful venue for a wedding, with amazing grounds for photo memories which no doubt will last a life time. Hospitality is second to none, with nothing being too much trouble and the food is first class.

An absolutely fantastic hotel and wedding venue, the food is always delicious and Emily and her team work hard to make your time as their guest special.

We had our wedding a week ago, what an amazing day. The venue is stunning, the staff where all wonderful, made me feel very special. A Queen for the day ☺️. The food is so nice that words fail me, my wedding guests cleaned their plates and full of compliments. What a team, thank you.

Me & my husband got married here on Saturday 25th May 2019 and it was honestly the best day of our lives.
Everything was perfect from start to finish, the food was fantastic & nothing was too much trouble.

The most amazing place. We had a beautiful sunny day and over night stay as attending a wedding. Grounds and hotel immaculately looked after, staff are really friendly.

We went for breakfast as non residents. There was an excellent choice of food from pastries to bacon, lovely selection of teas all served by professional and polite staff. Will definitely go back.

We attended our niece's wedding here yesterday. Stunning venue. Beautiful wedding from start to finish. The staff are all very friendly. The staff who served the meals and transformed the room for the evening were like a well oiled machine. We stopped overnight, and the room was beautiful too, with a king size bed, air conditioning, and a large bathroom. Delicious food both at the reception, and breakfast this morning. Thank you for making our Nic and Joe's wedding so amazing.

We were celebrating a wedding anniversary and booked the summer tasting menu with wine flight. We had a great evening and thought a lot of effort had gone into the preparations. The menu was interesting and the food was delicious. We enjoyed the wines that had been chosen. In between courses there was an explanation of the food and wine pairing. We were offered top ups of wine! The service was excellent. As this was a special event we booked a room. This was comfortable and clean but very dated. However the breakfast was super with a wide choice. Good service again. We plan to return for another tasting menu.

A beautifully set hotel. Own lake and a canal outside. Bedrooms just redecorate, but bathrooms a bit sad. But the whole place is just a bit of a haven. Breakfast and other meals of a good standard. Staff incredibly friendly and professional. Definitely coming back.

My wife and I are visitors from South Africa, and have been visiting the beautiful Lake District in the UK. We have been lucky enough to have stopped en route at this beautiful hotel in Acton Thrussel. We are hoteliers ourselves and can honestly say there are few hotels as special as this. The management and owners and staff can be complimented and deserve ten out of ten points. Thank you. We can highly recommend this venue which is delivers more than 4 star in every department.

We visted for a wedding. Great food. Great staff and great service. Only issue is the drinks are a tad expensive at the bar.

We attend a wedding reception and the service was first rate. Nothing appeared to be too much when requested. The room was good, the food likewise and the location and setting beautiful. I highly recommend this location, and the church, which is two minutes by foot, also for a wedding.

Beautiful setting in the county side right next to the canal. Dinning area is very nice and the foods and service was great. Would recommend.

The gardens outside near the pond are lovely. We Sat outside and had a drink which was very nice and peaceful. Inside we had a small room off the restaurant booked which was very nicely decorated. We had a three course meal which was outstanding in quality. The service was really good too, couldn't have asked for more.

Nice place in a beautiful setting. Too bad the service is made plates and cutlery from the wooden tables without tablecloths. Price a bit expensive for average quality. Otherwise nice and pleasant setting.

Huge place set at a stunning location within a small village with the canal running along one side and a pond on the other. Staff were pleasant enough and the bar is a nice place to be sitting by the log fire and relaxing. Food looked great and will come back again to give it a try for sure.

I went for a wedding on Friday and I was quite looking forward to it as I had heard how nice this place was… I was rather disappointed. The price for a drink… absolute rip off. The staff extreamly rude and grumpy, only the 1 bar man was friendly the rest were rude, did not want to help or talk when asking a question. The food very poor quality. Not enough seating for all the guests so a lot of us had to stand up. I will not be going back there in a hurry.

Wonderful hotel and restaurant. Staff are wonderful. Food is fantastic. Setting is idyllic. Great for functions, and special dinner or just a nice bar. Highly recommended.

What a place!
We booked our wedding 9 months ago and what a ride it’s been.
After a few false starts it went off without a problem, it was perfect.
We have eaten in the bar over these past months several times and each time it was beautiful food! Very generous portions and well presented. I would say that children’s plates would be a good idea, but that would be my only criticism.
The accommodation for all our rooms was amazing, very clean and tidy, the space in the suite where I got ready the morning of my wedding was beautiful and plenty of room to get 4 adult women ready with photographers and family visiting.
They say itself was beautifully managed by Nikki and the team I had nothing to worry about and everything we had discussed in the months leading up to the day was executed without issue.
The rooms were dressed to perfection by Design Elegance and their communication and professionalism was second to none.
I would recommend to anyone, whether it’s getting married, pub lunch or eating in the restaurant or even just a nights stay.
One thing we did have to feedback would be that even though the restaurant had a beautiful vegan menu and the food was gorgeous, it’s the little things such as no vegan butter that let it down but we appreciate how much you did for our vegan friends. Thank you Moat House we loved our day and wouldn’t change a thing.

Stayed here 10/02/2018 for my nieces wedding mr & mrs James Ellie & josh, it was a fantastic venue, they also had the singing silver service waiters, would recommend them to anyone, the room we had our meal in was decorated to perfection, after the meal it was transformed ready for the evening celebrations, the day was just perfect, all the staff was so helpful and friendly, we stayed over night we had a family room it was perfect. The breakfast the next morning was lovely there was plenty of choice both hot and cold. Over all I would give it a 5 star.

Only had a few drinks there but looking to eat next time. Staff were excellent and couldn't do enough. Kept the log burner going as we sat on the comfortable sofa in front of it. Lovely setting and beautiful features inside.

Popped for lunch. 3 course fixed price menu. Haddock starter, bass with curry flavours were the best dishes. Spot on service from Cloe. Highly recommended.

Absolutely stunning! The food was top class! The service, exceptional! The three-course Sunday lunch was delicious with great variation! However, be prepared to pay a little extra than the usual Sunday lunch price. You get what you pay for here, and that is class! Highly recommended! :)

Excellent visit for afternoon tea. Fabulous experience. The service and quality of food was very good. Would have liked a Darjeeling tea or similar. B'fast tea only non herbal tea. On a par with the many afternoon teas I have had at Brown's in London.

Went for a viewing for a wedding. Although the venue is beautiful, we found the format of the wedding costs to be very rigid and inflexible (lots of "that's extra"). It may suit others but for ourselves we were not so keen. Place is lovely and very picturesque and worth viewing.

A nice country restaurant, with indoor and out door seating. Has both a loung/bar and restaurant. High quality meals for decent prices. Polite staff.

Lovely setting, with helpful staff. The room are to an adequate standard and comfortable. The evening we wentnfir food the restaurant was busy and they had run out of a few items on the menu which was disappointing. Food was above average and the waiters helpful.

Me and my wife have used this beautiful place for several years now always had meals throughout the year always very good Recently we visited this year I had the turkey which was like rubber. My wife decides on braised beef. To be honest tasted like a microwave oven… not good enough. Michelin star restaurant… used to be… traceability. Of the beef they couldn't tell me if it was even English…

I've been to The Most House twice, both occasions for weddings, the first time also has a hotel guest. The setting is very pretty, food good, hotel rooms comfortable and staff very helpful. It seems to be one of the most popular locations nearby for weddings, and with good reason.

We attended a wedding (full day). The attention to detail of the tables, service and food was impeccable. All food served all day was piping hot and full of flavour. Drink prices were competitive and ranges were good. The staff were friendly and helpful, even at midnight when the reception was still going. An impressive venue.

We went for Wedding open day. With each room we saw the WOW factor was bigger! Staff are friendly, very helpful, nothing too much trouble. Plenty of parking. Bar and restaurant to use even if not staying. Stunning scenery.

We attended for a quick discussion over lunch. We sat outside. Had to go and get the menu ourselves. Our food came out promptly and hot. Good food, reasonably priced. Service could have been a little more friendly but wasn't bad. Would definitely eat there again.

Been several times since 2010 (my wedding) I also stayed last week and thoroughly enjoyed it. The food is by far the best for miles around, the service outstanding and the settings idyllic. What more could you ask for? Consistent high standards mean we keep coming back. 10/10

Excellent! The perfect venue. With help from the friendly and professional team at the hotel, I recently organised a two-day business meeting for 30+ people. The location of the hotel is fantastic as delegates travelled from the north and south of the country. Access to the M6 is minutes away, yet the immediate surroundings of the hotel are idyllic. Unlike most hotel meeting rooms, The Acton Suite was full of daylight and looked out on to the beautiful canal where the occasional barge floated by! Dinner for the group was served in the Colin Lewis Suite. The food was delicious (lots of compliments in particular about the lamb shank) and the service impeccable. Breakfast was served in an equally bright and sunny space and my room was most comfortable, clean and freshly decorated. The feedback from the delegates was entirely positive and I looked forward to planning our return visit. Highly recommended!

Attended here as a guest at a friend's wedding. Very nice place but found the bar prices to be quite expensive, whether this was because it was a hotel as opposed to a normal bar.

Disappointing. Arrived to find a wedding party of chavs in hired sports cars blocking the road and filling the carpark. Not told when booking and no apology when cancelling table.

Had the tasting menu with my wife for our anniversary, lovely as always and the staff were very friendly, especially the sommelier. However, I feel the number of staff vs tables was too low.

Amazing place, staff very friendly nothing is to much trouble, I felt very special because the service is of top quality, food is out of this world, so glad we choose the moat house.

We had a fabulous wedding here on the 27th June 2015. Overall the day ran really smoothly from start to finish. The biggest compliment I can give the team, is how discreet they were, we only noticed them on the occasions when they were checking that we were happy with how the day was progressing, and whether we required anything else, which was not too frequent to be a pain, nor too infrequent that we felt like we were not looked after. The food (both sit down meal and barbecue) was lovely, and we received compliments from a large number of the guests about the quality of the food. The team easily catered to my nut allergy, and were able to adapt the menu to all sorts of dietary requirements from vegan, to strawberry allergy! The Moat House grounds are gorgeous, and it helped that with the lovely weather we enjoyed, we were able to experience all of the them, from the lakes to the canal. The Honeymoon suite was also sumptuous, we managed to get half an hour to relax in the lounge before the evening guests arrived, just a shame we didn’t get time to try out the bath! Overall we would recommend the Moat House to anyone who is planning their big day.

Had a loverly evening running Snaptastic Photo Booth, the staff were very friendly and Ben was extremely helpful during set up. Truly recommend this venue to any Bride and Groom to celebrate their day.

Several visits requiring a Gluten Free Diet have been an enjoyable experience. I was offered gluten free bread, Yorkshire puds, stuffing and dishes were adapted to suit my diet. Puddings are always a problem but yet again I was offered an alternative. The staff are polite and friendly and are always helpful. We would recommend the Moat House for their excellent food and service. A and m clift.

Been here many times for many different occasions. It is our go to place when all the girls are in the area. Bedrooms are lovely, had the pleasure of staying with work a couple of times. Looking forward to coming back in October for my friends wedding.

Had our wedding here. Made all our arrangements with a lady who happend to be away on our big day without any warning. Was asked to be out of our suite by 10am the next morning and move to another room across the other side. No help moving bags and wedding gifts. Shocking treatment would never go back! On a plus the food was fantastic.

We held our wedding here on 18th May, 2013. The customer service that we received throughout the day was second to none. Every member of staff, whatever their role, from the General Manager through to bar and reception staff went above and beyond the call of duty to make our special day even more special. Nothing was to much trouble for them and they exemplified what "Customer experience" was all about. We would highly recommend this venue for all your special events.

My Husband held his 40th Birthday party at The Moat House. We couldn't of asked for anymore. The food was excellent, The Staff were excellent. Even the planning leading up to the event and our meetings with Gaynor were fab. We stayed in one of their suites which was immaculate and the bed was really comfy. Even breakfast the next day was superb. Not one of our guests had 1 thing to say bed about the venue. We have also attended a wedding here in November and again it was faultless. I would recommend The Moat House to anyone and look forward to our next stay.

We could not have asked for more from the staff at the Moat House, the service was great, the newly refurbished Acton Suite was fantastic and the colour scheme — — what can we say! Thank you to Gaynor for helping us with the organisation of our day and to Luke and Ben on the day, you definitely helped us stay calm (plus the odd glass of champagne) I highly recommend the Moat House for any occasion.
