Located in a beautiful setting with stunning views of the sweeping River Trent and countryside. Serving delicious food by friendly staff. The garden has been tastefully adjusted with individual outdoor seating areas which are sheltered and built not just with covid precautions in mind but also the great British weather!
Managed to book a table via their easy to use website. Thoroughly recommend a visit!

Food was lovely as always and staff were professional and well organised in these difficult times.

My husband and I got married here in October and had an incredible day. The food was delicious, the venue and grounds were beautiful and the DJ was brilliant especially with the children. Would highly recommend and fantastic value for money. Thank you to Karen, the wedding coordinator, for helping to make our big day so enjoyable x.

My meal of sea bass was excellent, but my partners cod in batter was overcooked and full of cooking oil.
The night was saved by the lovely company and service of Jess the barmaid.

Nige D.

Lovely hotel, great food and the manager and her team went out of the way to accommodate and make us feel welcome! Thankyou I would highly recommend.

It was my daughters 21st and plans went wrong so ended up at the Riverside for lunch.
Once the restaurant staff new it was her birthday they went above and beyond to give her a lovely time.
We were so impressed that we cancelled our night time meal venue and booked it with the Riverside, once again they didn’t disappoint, table decorated and again pulled out all the stops.
Special mention to Joe who was with us on both meals and nothing was too much trouble for him, always pleasant and smiling. Thank you
Joe and Riverside.

We got married here yesterday (4/5/19) and had the most enjoyable day! staff were excellent, from planning all the way through to the next morning! really went out of their way to make sure we had the best day. Which we did! beautiful scenery for photos, a lot of guests complimented on how nice the food was, from breakfast to buffet, and I definitely agree! couldn't recommend the riverside hotel and staff enough! thank you for such a lovely day x.

Natalie P.

Absolutely beautiful place to eat, only down side is… it was warm afew weeks back, dog owners hadn't picked up after their dogs, so the smell was vile and people were standing in the poo that hadn't been picked up, really ruined our meals on both the Saturday and the Sunday, the walk along side the river is amazing and the staff are great, we just feel like spending money on a meal that actually tastes like poo wasn't the best, felt disappointed: (

Simon D.

Nice clean restaurant seeking traditional pub food, something a little more cuisine if you want it. Nice deserts and Sunday lunches and plenty of seating, inside and out. Dog friendly lysis with water bowls often available and staff happy to help whenever they can. Wedding facilities and function room for hire.

Staff have a great attitude to customers very helpful, food sharerers are nice, though food quality overall is still poor.

If only there was a 0* When we arrived it was not overly busy no more then 10 tables.
Ordered drinks, dad had t ask for new glass as his was filthy and was given a completely different glass ti the one he had been given (poor standards should be same type of glass all the time).
I ordered diat coke and it tasted like full fat and was flat, tasted like out of a bottle. …
after waiting 10 minuets and still no food order taken, I had to ask for our order to be taken.
We went straight to mains, Mixed grill with salad and no dressing, pork belly and lasagna.
After 40 minuets of waiting for our main of that you would like to think staff would be trained to inform guests of any long waits (we certainly do that where I work) I informed who I guess was a supervisor or manager that if we don't get our food soon we will be having and just pay for drinks.
After 10 more minuet our food arrived and well where do I start.
1. Pork belly looked like it had been ran over and just looked awful.
2. Luke warm chips as if they has been sat under hot light for some time.
3. My mixed grill of that I ordered salad with NO dressing came swimming in dressing.
4. All the meat on my mixed grill just seamed to be thrown on the plate all on top of each other.
5. It all just looked sorry for itself dry and some burnt and steak looked over cooked.

The room was very nice and well laid out with comfortable beds. Also very good quality food, lovely steaks. Very polite friendly staff, served by nicole. Would stay again.

Beautiful Riverside pub/hotel. No idea about rooms just had an evening meal and a few drinks on the river bank. View and location are superb. Staff were great and working hard. Food was good and served in a timely manner, the place was very busy.

We had our wedding day 3wks ago today. Right from booking our wedding Karen couldn't have been more helpful if she tried. On the day Karen & Kat made us feel at ease, communicated with us both all day to make sure we were at the right place at the right time. They certainly took away all the stress for us both. Nothing was ever too much trouble & we got the wedding of our dreams. We would highly recommend getting married at here.
Thank you Karen, Kat and the team for everything. Tracey & Debs xxx.

Small room, but very clean, fresh decor and best of all, air conditioning! Lovely riverside location, plenty of seating outdoors, pleasant bar and restaurant area. Plenty of parking.

So we came for my mums 60th birthday Meal, you knew this we had balloons and you bought out our cake!
Yet still no acceptable apology for our awful experience
Firstly my son is dairy intolerant on asking for an allergy menu or book one couldn’t be given staff were unclear what I was on about!
Then they asked someone who looked to be dressed as a manager/ duty manager, but still nothing
She then went off came back with a menu from the chef that had the items containing d…airy crossed off I was told! This this was a very half arsed attempt given the menu I was given back still had items unmarked that contained dairy but not obviously (so I could of ordered these items in knowingly)
We then ordered crispy fish and chips
To then be told later that the batter contained milk we ordered sausage menu states mash but we opted for chips to be on the safe side (although at no point were we advised that the mash contained milk)
I explained no dairy must go near his food and no cross contamination must happen due to his allergy!
My sister tried to order a starter no stock then her main wasn’t available I appreciate this is unlucky to be the same person, then her drink of orange juice was not available.
Normally when you sit a table down and are offering table service surely you should be informed of what’s available and what’s not!
On receiving our main meals after starters which was a very long wait given it was very quiet!

My son was acting as Best Man at his friend Steve's wedding, and the reception was being held here. Had my doubts with its proximity to Burton, but these were dispelled as soon as we arrived. The venue is ideal being located on a very picturesque part of the river Trent. Absolutely beautiful views over the river from the rear, so plenty of photo opportunities. Even better when one of the guests has bought along a professional grade drone.

Recently refurnished. Nice hotel and pub and restaurant all in one. Recommend for short breaks. Ideal for walking next to River trent and plenty off country side. You can take dogs. Look at availability. I live in same street and just go for walks and pop for an pint.

Ollie T.

We had a really bad lunchtime meal here on a Sunday. The service was so slow, I had to get up out of my chair multiple times to ask different waiters to give us menus, the bill, etc. It's also quite noisy with dogs barking in the garden and babies. They had no music on for atmosphere. We also booked it as it's next to the river and thought it might be a nice view, but you can't even see it as there's a huge wall you have to walk over! I only give it 2 stars and not 1 as the food itself was not terrible. Avoid this place.

Julie R.

Although when we arrived it was difficult to initially check in due to staff going sick this didn't stop us from having a lovely stay. Staff were friendly and helpful, the beer garden along the riverbank was beautiful and our bedroom although small was exceptionally clean, modern and the shower was the best I've had yet! Accommodating for dogs is a massive plus, and even though I don't have one now I would definately come back here at a later date with my pooch.

Barbara B.

I have visited The Riverside many times and we also have our wedding booked. It's beautiful situated staff extremely friendly. Food is spot on and they have a great selection at the bar.

Davey L.

Six of us stayed here, whilst the rooms were in need of some updating they were comfortable. The lodges upstairs however were noisy as the door fronted the main rd. That said though the bar menu was priced fine and the food was outstanding, we had risotto burgers and chips and all six meals were excellent.

David B.

Staff extremely helpful, helped with luggage. Food was good, though slightly pub feel. Everyone friendly and welcoming. Room was a tad small, but clean and well equipped. Only slight negative was some fairly strong air freshener in use that aggravated my asthma a little. Hot Breakfast is cook to order, not buffet, which is excellent.

Kierah H.

When I booked the hotel I received great communication by the staff (via email) when I had enquiries and they were very fast on getting back to me with the information I needed. If there was any problems; they also informed me before the stay. Very helpful at the desk when I got there. Overall friendly staff and great price for a lovely room. Highly recommend, the bed itself was very comfy to the point we woke up late for the checkout time. Highly recommend, would stay again.

Simon L.

Very nice clean place. Good atmosphere and friendly staff. Ideal for families. Good parking and wheel chair access. Excellent food and very reasonable prices.

Paul V.

Cosy and comfortable, great service and very good price for a 2 night stay. Restaurant also very good, breakfast was excellent and both evening meals were good. Will definitely return.

Rob V.

Really nice food and nice service. Came for a Christmas dinner and everything was cooked to a high standard and looked beautiful.

Nicola B.

Had a great meal for my daughters 21st Birthday. Could not fault the food or the young lady who served us. Lovely evening. Table all ready on early arrival ready to add some balloons etc. Top night, cosy setting.

David J.

We had the wake for my mother-in-law here. The staff were very respectful and did not try to rush us. The buffet was excellent and very reasonably priced. Although the hotel is in a nice location, understandably, the occasion did not warrant us enjoying it. Highly recommend if you want a meal, small gathering or even a wedding there.

Nicola E.

I got married here at the weekend and I must say what an amazing venue I chose, Karen the wedding organiser was fantastic, I am not the best at organising anything let alone a wedding and Karen was so helpful! Id also like to thank all of the staff at The Riverside, you were all so polite and very helpful, if we needed anything you were there. A special thankyou to Simon, I think you made a great impression on my whole family, you were fantastic, very helpful and made me feel at ease as I was a nervous mess thankyou so much! I would highly recommend this hotel to anybody.

James G.

We went for Sunday roast and they were fantastic the staff are super friendly and very helpful. The foods lovely and the drink selection is great. Decor is nice after the refurb and the outdoor area is it's best feature.

Gemma L.

Not too great was staying due to work commitments. Food was lovely. The waitress was terrible. Very unhelpful didn't ask if we wanted or needed anything which resulted in me having to leave the dining area to get my own drink and desert menu. Unfortunately for us we came on an evening where a group of middle aged men where having a catch up and got extremely drunk. They were then shouting screaming and talking until 2am. One of them locked themselves out of a room so started banging on the window of one of their friends room which of course woke us up and kept us up. Unfortunately due to their ignorance and the the waitress I have scored this place low which is a shame as the rooms were ok and the food was good. But would I be coming back here? No never!

Tom K.

Great food, now accept tesco clubcard boost tokens. Staff are really friendly.

Nanna W.

The Riverside talks the talk & promises the world but doesn't deliver the service! Its a glorified pub with a lovely outlook in the middle of a housing estate with a main train line running past! & its understaffed! Rooms are small & basic & could be cleaner. If you have any issue there is always a reason why its not their fault. The food is nice but the service is dreadfully slow. There wer'nt any tables laid for us for breakfast so were waited for 10mins while they sorted them & then endured very slow & at times unwilling service! When we returned to our rooms an hour later with 10mins left to vacate them for 11o'clock departure our cards to our 3 rooms wouldn't work! & NO reception the cards weren't faulty. They had worked perfectly until 9.45a. M. They had been cancelled early! It sadens me that you isulted my inteligence with yet another excuse. The cleaning staff let us in & my daughter & son in law ended up packing their cloths away properly in the car park. & I had to return later for a medical bag & flowers which in the rush to vacate were missed. Certain members of staff seem unaware that the customer is actually funding their wages & Riverside should be very grateful for the few members of staff who really do try to give the service that they advertise! Also a certain male member of staff should stop & clean up when his dog piddles up a seat in the bar as its taken out for excersise! & yes sir you were aware! We watched you ignore it! Basically.

02-09-17. Officially the best day of our life! Me and rob got married here after almost 10 years together, the place where our story started and the place where our next chapter begins. We want to say the biggest thank you ever to all of the team, especially karen, Simon, tom and jess. The four of you ensured our day ran as perfect as it could have done, it literally was perfect. I am such an organised freak that every item was boxed and tagged and the reception was full when we dropped everything off much to Simon's delight I was nervous about handing over control of the setting up but I must admit I couldn't have done it any better myself, I was overwhelmed when we had that room reveal, best moment ever. The food was flawless, timings were perfect, staff were phenomenal in helping us feel relaxed, the bridal suite was gorgeous. Again thank you to everyone especially the previous 4 named, we can't thank you enough. X.

Great staff friendly and helpful. The Hotel location is great overlooking a river and a beer garden to enjoy warm evenings. The rooms are stylish and refurbished around a year ago. Good selection of food, and breakfast was included in the room cost.

Michael D

Called in for breakfast on Saturday morning. Natalie made us very welcome, despite being very busy she was perfectly pleasant and accommodating. So good in fact that we stopped by again on Sunday morning to find Natalie working on reception, between taking breakfast orders and covering the bar! If ever anyone deserved an award for outstanding service/management/customer care… it is Natalie! Thank you very much.

Paul R.

Lovely river setting! Large outside garden! Nice clean comfy rooms! Good food and good selection at the bar! Very friendly and helpful staff!

Richard H.

This is owned by green King and green kings HQ is around the corner, this is also my local! But I'm sorry to say it's no knight in shining armour more the stable hand. I have stopped eating here and for some time now as I find myself just sending it back, late, cold or just poor, the bar staff are always away from the bar just not good. This pub/ Hotel should have every thing going for it its big on the side of a river with a large garden it should be buzzing and I want it like that, come on green King get a private pub designer in (who you haven't used before) and set the place on fire. I would suggest the very dull MDs of green King visit some of the independents around here they are fantastic and that's where I go, yes I drive past a pub I could walk too. That should say it all. (Note; the staff are very nice and help full just shackled by a dead and none inthusiastic pub chain)

Charlotte C.

Great hotel, well decorated and the staff are friendly. Good selection of food and drinks. The rooms are a decent size with modern bathrooms. The only downside is there doesn't seem to be much soundproofing to the hotel corridors so other guests moving around outside the room can be loud. Overall though a great hotel, I would definitely stay again. The conference facilities were also brilliant.

John D.

Great hotel, good food, sits beside the river and very relaxing.

Robert P.

Very friendly and helpful staff, great location, lovely grounds, good food till late. Booked an extra nights stay with no issues! Can't beat the personal touch of the manager who had great local knowledge, and couldn't have help more! Will go back again next year for bloodstock.

Stayed in superior room for two nights £150. Was advertised as hotel looked nice on pics but very disappointing. Dirty walls, bathroom smelled of sewage and mold. Spiders everywhere and when removed more would show. Needs updating. Way over priced for a pub B&B! Food was good and not badly priced. Staff friendly. But wouldn't go back.

I had the great pleasure of photographing Liam and Jess at the Riverside Hotel in June 2013. As a wedding venue the Riverside has a number of things going for it. It has a very beautiful riverside setting. The hotel is on a bend in the river and there are good views over fields and greenery. The trees and the bridge make it an attractive place to take photographs. However, on closer inspection it could all do with a bit of love and attention. The bridge is overgrown with nettles and the small pagoda leans awkwardly to one side. It just needs a bit of time spent keeping it in trim. I was lucky enough to be able to stay over at the hotel rather than driving back to the south coast at silly o'clock. The rooms are functional at best I would say. The bathrooms are very cramped. I did not see the bridal suite (if there is one) but I would hope it is rather more luxurious than the room I stayed in. A particularly annoying problem is the sound of the pipes every time someone turns on a tap. It's ridiculously loud! The windows are meshed off to stop multitudes of flying insects getting in and consequently the room is really hot. What with the taps turning on and off, it was difficult to get a good night's sleep. The food was a mixed bag. I initially ordered a chicken dish but had to return it as the chicken had clearly been heated up in the microwave and was tough as old boots. However, I was recommended to try the fajitas and they were absolutely lovely.

Nadeem A.

Where do I start well for £70 a night including Breakfast I expected a bit more. But below is my experience: 1 — At night the room gets way too hot and this is without the heating on 2 — The shower is running from a Combi Tap, not a pressure shower. So water just trickles at best. To get a bit more pressure you have to take the shower off the hook, sit down in the bath and even then it improves ever so slightly. If you apply water to one area of your body the other is cold 3 — Its a converted pub, so smells of Alcohol everywhere 4 — My room seemed to be supplying water to all rooms below. Evey time somebody turned their Cold water tap on, the pipes would make a loud gushing noise in my room (Room 15 BTW). When they turn the Hot water on, the noise would be less. Not great when your trying to sleep and noise continues till 1-2am. Combat this noise with the heat and insects (please read below) not great 5 — The mother of all Spiders was crawling up the wall in my room. It was so big that the mouth of a pint glass tumbler was too small to contain it. In the end had to squeeze the bad boy and chuck him out 6 — Windows are old style wooden frames. On the inside, there is a another frame with wire netting. You have to open this first and then open the window. I could see why it was there. If the window is open all sorts of flying insects gather on the inside but the netting prevent them from coming in. When I went to chuck the spider out, I opened the netted window.

Tim R.

We had 2 rooms for 2 nights, and for the price we expected far better. The bathrooms are very cramped, and the small opener in the window meant the room was far too hot at night. Breakfast was nice, but the dinner service was very slow — it took well over an hour from point of order to receive our mains, and the restaurant wasn't busy at all.
