Nice staff, lovely old building with plenty of parking.
Downsides… Rooms very much in need of renovation, all areas need a good clean and spruce up and food was OK but very expensive for what you get.

Lovely Sunday lunch. A real treat. Friendly staff. Lovely traditional hotel. We will return.

It was the Groupon deal £19.99 per couple for Sunday lunch. The staff we're very helpful, also the food was Delicious. We will certainly be returning.

Stayed here 1st n 2nd Sept. Hotel was lovely had a lovely room, fab location. Food was really nice and very friendly staff.

Had a lovely night here as we attended a murder mystery night and that was a great night. Hotel was clean and the food was lovely. It does need a bit of maintenance but it has character.

Sunday Lunch very nice, well worth a visit.

We had a lovely afternoon. From the moment we arrived we were greeted with a smile and made to feel welcome. The food was excellent. After our. Meal we enjoyed drinks in the bar. Lovely grounds and wheelchair accessible.

Based on the room we had it was like a box room designed for a dwarf the bath was tiny I'm 6ft 2 trying to have a relaxing bath was comical just to walk round the room you had to shimmy the cleanliness of the bathroom was poor aswell the room could have done with better facilities like a fan rather then a heater that just blows like a little draft and glad it's not winter the window was bowed with it been wood and looked like the glass was going to burst out but apart from that the staff were spot on and for events it's nice with decent garden.

Unfortunately I can only give 3 stars as the evening meal and faulty shower let down this magnificent hotel. The staff were wonderful and dealt professionally with my complaints about the food and shower. I'd recommend avoiding fish and chips and checking your shower works correctly when checking in. There is also no air conditioning in the hotel even though Google appears to think it does and the sash windows only open approximately 4 inches. I still don't understand why hotels insist on doing this.

We went for a big family party and the hotel is a lovely old building with a nice garden. The service from the staff from check in to check out was excellent. We had a large family room which was nice and clean, but it was looking a little tired as was other rooms. But is an old hotel I suppose and it does have character. The bar ran out of ingredients for popular cocktails very early but the food was great. We had breakfast in the morning which was a buffet style and probably the best I have had. The only real big problem with our stay (which we accept was a one off but it still happened) was they were unlucky enough to have a broken waste water pipe outside. This meant most of the downstairs of the hotel had an awful smell. It would not put us off coming back but it wasn't the nicest aroma to be at a party.

Good Room service coupled with comfort and hospitality and also spacious. Beautiful garden with beautiful surroundings. Will recommend to anyone.

The property is amazingly beautiful, rooms would do with a bit of refurbishing, specially toilets. There was some problems with the restaurant service that might have been because of new staff or something going on in the kitchen, but nothing was offered to make up for the very long wait we had to have our food — which I must say was very good. One of the best steak pies I've had.

Had Sunday lunch here. Elegant surroundings and a pleasant experience. 4-5 choices for each course, and what we chose was tasty and came in large portions. Good value with Groupon.

Lovely hotel in a beautiful location. The staff are friendly in an unforced way. We are made to feel at home. I would recommend this hotel to someone who isn't even planning on coming to the area. Five stupendously huge stars of epic proportions.

Very average. Old building which is quite noisy throughout the night. Seemed to be exceptionally noisy outside my room from about 5:30 am (possibly a broom or similar cupboard just outside). No hot water for a shower in the morning which I did report at checkout and apparently not the first so probably a maintenance issue… No discount offered tho. All in all for a four star, pretty dissatisfied.

Beautiful historical building on the exterior and grounds. The interior's dim lights seemed to strategically hide poor maintenance. Photos of rooms a bit deceiving. Bathroom smelled like stale cigarette smoke. Showers accompanied by a wall mounted electric water heater that seem to be on a timer for 5 minutes; after your alotted time you are met with freezing water, even if you restart the unit. Bathtub water temps were fine. Test the breakfast a day before you prepay. Will try other options in the future.

Classic country house hotel in fairly small but attractive grounds. Good selection of 50 bedrooms at reasonable prices. Pleasant bar area. Polite and accommodating staff. Well maintained meeting/function rooms.

Beautiful building, traditional and attentive service. Attended event with c 120 people, catering was great in terms of food quality, service and setup wasn't so well planned out. Creating queues. But otherwise lovely venue.

Very comfortable stay. Lovely clean room. Quiet. Biggest and most comfortable bed I've ever slept in. Great breakfast Friendly staff.

Very nice building, only had a quick drink but the staff were very friendly and gave my 5 year old son a guided tour of the hotel while we were in a meeting.

My wife and I had our wedding at Newton park hotel. The staff were fantastic and accommodating. Would definitely recommend them to anyone!

We had our wedding here at the weekend and Sophie and team were excellent and couldn't do enough for us. Couldn't recommend this place enough, the building is gorgeous, the food is fab and the staff are fantastic. Thank you for making our day amazing xx.

Very nice hotel locates in a place pizza delivery takes almost 3 hours to be delivered. However if you can afford the food it would be very worth eating!

Rooms were clean and tidy but need updating. Breakfast excellent, staff exceptional especially at the reception. Would definately stay there again.

A very nice quaint hotel. Be aware the hotel is like a rabbit warren with many split floors. Quite squeaky floorboards but you can expect this with an old building like this one.

Great food, great service.

We stayed at the hotel last night with my husband and daughter. As soon as you see the hotel you get very impressed with the outside of the building and when you go in it's even better. Absolutely loved it. Fantastic ambience. Our room was nice and clean and also had breakfast, sat at a table facing the gardens. Was beautiful and breakfast was really nice too. Would definitely recommend it.

I stayed two days for my friends wedding the wedding venue was excellent size for the number of guests. The room was beautifully decorated and gave a real sense of romance, the hotel is impressive but is starting to look tired and worn in areas. There is a good feeling about the place and keeping the wooden panel and the stain glass widow make a statement a house like this needs. Bar area Is nice relaxing but seating is not as comfortable as it could additional back cushions would be handy. I found my room really comfortable and bathroom facilities were all I needed. However the road side appeal is not being made the most off, some richly planted flower beds would make the place more charming. I did not like the jumbrellers as they were not matching perhaps it would look better with quality ones hanging of the stand. The lamps looked cheap too on the steps. I took a walk round the garden and was disappointed in the planting off the flower beds. Being it's a wedding venue it needed rose arches some kind of attraction for posing photos other then the fire excape. The staff are one of its best assets really lovely people approachable and willing to go that little extra. The food was excellent but the breakfast was not replenished quick enough and some of our party did not get a full cooked breakfast. Bar drinks are expensive and tea and coffee £3 plus is to high, lower the price of tea and coffee might encourage people to gather more in the bar area.

I am very unhappy with this! The pictures online are deceiving. The hotel needs an update straight away! Only good thing about this hotel is the polite staff!. I spent £120 for a red letter day to treat 3 of my family members… I was expected seating at a table and a propped lay out instead I fount myself on purple seats which once I checked online turns out to be the bar side. I have never felt more uncomfortable in my life! The sandwiches were dry I explained I'm the phone that I wanted tuna cheese cucumber no mayo and no butter on the cheese ones. The sandwiches arrived with no butter on at all the cheese clumped together and the other sandwiches were served with cucumber and alot of cheese spread it was disgusting! The coffee was too thick the scones were solid and the typical scones you buy from a supermarket. Very cheap and nasty! The cakes were placed one 1 table my partner had to make another table to put the sandwiches on and also half the cakes as my mother had to reach over! Then for 2 pints of Pepsi cost me around £7.50 rip off! … I am very annoyed that I have paid this much money for a horrible experiance and I feel embarrassed that I brought my family members to this hotel which left me appologiseing for a dull… horrible food and coffee also to not be seated at a table and just stuck in the bar area! Very unhappy! Would not recommend … better places for afternoon tea just a shame I spent that much money at this s***hole!

I have just returned from 2 nights here. The staff are amazing so accomadating especially the reception staff. The room was good although lacking in some areas for the amount payed I would expect more ie shower gel soap etc I had to ask for these. The dinner we ate was fair but not great as its so expensive and the price of the drinks is disgusting 7.50 for a glass of wine. The biggest disappointment was the cooked breakfast. Cold and undercooked. As I said the staff saved the day. It would have been nice to have a book in the room with hotel details.

Nice venue, great for a wedding however the price of drinks is extortionate. £5 a pint etc.

Rooms, service, stag and location were all excellent.

I've been to many functions here over the years & they never disappoint, I went along to a wedding here last Saturday & they catered for the whole day. Fantastic food & barbecue in the day very child friendly the kids played football all day in the substantial grounds, great service & very friendly helpful staff. I'd not hesitate for a second to book this venue or recommend it to someone looking to do so. Only downside no Carling on draught at the tine only Becks & Stella & a personal favourite Guinness.

Good but not great, room was a little bit dirty and complimentary services lacked choice. The staff were great but the room wasn't the best. There was a nice view of the garden though.

Lovely staff and grounds and in a lovely location. Shame the rooms are tired with 1960's bathrooms.

Tired decor, no aircon and mysteriosly missing shower. Not great.

1970's decor in the rooms. No aircon. Needs a bit of love really.
