Stayed overnight before a birthday party. Large spacious bedroom and wonderful food. The staff were young but very attentive and friendly and we were looked after well. The only down side was the lack of hot water for my morning shower. Beautiful hotel with stunning surroundings. Would definitely return if in the area again. Thank you!

Had a great weekend here, lovely rooms and setting. Very peaceful and a great night sleep (so quiet). Food was delicious and staff were so friendly. Will definitely be back. 5 ⭐️

Went for champagne breakfast, setting was really lovely, table looked nice, we wasn't offered our second glass of procecco, or tea & coffee, felt a little left, no check back for any of the courses which I was waiting for with my main, I don't believe it was worth what we paid, however my mother in law enjoyed it, it was for her birthday so overall a good visit.

From driving up to Dovecliff it is an amazing experience. The food taste absolutely amazing. Staff are so friendly and helpful nothing is to much trouble. Also beautiful views. Felt welcome from the moment we walked in to the moment we left. If you can stay here, do not think twice! Book it because you will not regret it 😊

Lovely night last night at the French food & wine evening, delicious food & wine, excellent service from the team at Dovecliff. Stayed the night in one of the very comfortable downstairs rooms with views of the river. Looking forward to our next visit and highly recommend.

My Daughter and Daughter in law had their wedding with you on 20th January and honestly can not praise you guys enough. We were lucky enough to have the hotel for a couple of days. The hotel was stunning, food and rooms were amazing and every need was catered for. The whole wedding was special and beautiful. The staff deserve a special mention as they worked tirelessly to make sure nothing was too much trouble. Honestly from the bottom of my heart, Thank you for making My daughter and daughter in laws wedding just out of this world and everything they dreamt it would be X.

Been tonight for a works Christmas Party. Beautiful Xmas trees and decorations, beautiful table and delicious food, great disco, good service only down side was the drinks were extremely overpriced. Apart from that had a nice night.

We’ve just had the most amazing afternoon tea here at Dovecliff Hall.
The food was amazing. Jordan looked after us so well, making sure my lovely mum was comfy enough and thoughtfully got her a cushion for her back. Nothing was too much trouble. It was so lovely we didn’t want the afternoon to end.
We will definitely be back and so recommend here to anyone else who wants a real treat. You will certainly be treated very well.

French Gourmet Evening.
Excellent French cuisine, 5 different wines not forgetting the accordionist.

Excellent meal at the Dovecliff hall on Friday night, delicious food. Looked after very well by Luke & the team. Connor our waiter gave exceptional service, even topping up our glasses throughout the night. We then had lunch on Saturday and Radu was very attentive, and gave excellent service. Looking forward to our next visit.

Had a lovely Champagne Breakfast this morning at Dovecliff. Anton and Son were both lovely and very attentive. Breakfast itself was fantastic, and lovely and hot. Surroundings beautiful. Would definitely recommend. Great staff. Had such a wonderful time.

We went for Afternoon tea today. The food was very mediocre, no menus or even tea menus. Sweet and savory together… wasn't very afternoon tea like. Service was also a bit poor.

Love stopping there … staff are lovely and can’t do enough for you. The food is fantastic. Rooms are nice and big … only thing is could be cleaned better. But a lovely hotel and always happy to stop there.

Rotary meal (15/12:19) food good, service slow to the point of guests having to leave early. Only two on the bar with over 60-70 guests. Two hours so far and still no dessert. Given the price this is very poor.

A beautiful Hotel set in well maintained grounds with first class food and accommodation run by friendly and professional staff. Highly recommended for weddings private functions. Regular Italian and french nights.

Got married here in August 2018, beautiful place, lovely staff, lovely food, the rooms are all amazing especially the honeymoon suite and we were treated like royalty all day.

Everything about this hotel was first-class. The staff made our special occasion so memorable. Food and service were superb and bed blissful.

Absolutely stunning place, oozing character beautiful gardens too, canapés to die for. Staff were delightful.

Liked the style and size of hotel, felt small enough to be comfy but big enough bot to be cramped. Food was great, drink selection good for a relatively small place. Rooms big, bathroom was dared but had all needed. Outside good. Seems to lock down at midnight and have to leave let's when going out which I found a bit odd "fire regularions" no fridge in room but free water. Staff friendly and lovely grounds.

High ceilings. Wooden staircase. Wooden archway as you walk in. Older worlde atmosphere. You feel like a princess as you walk in. Cosy atmosphere. Great gardens with a giant tree at the back. Orchard complete with apple trees (yes you can pick and eat them) … atmosphere one of luxury. Staff friendly. We did meet out own princess. We went for a wedding. Gary and hazel. Xx.

Had a lovely day and evening, celebrating the marriage of friends. Food was great and bar wasn't badly priced for a hotel bar.

Enjoyed a 3 course lunch as part of a large group. The food was excellent, the service very good and nothing was too much trouble for the staff.

Celebrated my sisters wedding here and it was really good. Staff were lovely and very friendly.

Recently stayed at the Dovecliff Hall to celebrate my husbands 60th birthday and it was perfect. Could not fault anything, room was perfect, food was perfect and the gardens were stunning. My Husband and myself had the pleasure of staying at the Dovecliffe August 2016 and in August 2017 for a few days, we stayed B/B our room was lovely the breakfast was great the location couldnt have been better Had the pleasure of meeting the new owner I cant wait to return and see the improvements he has made and maybe stay a little while longer…

I got married here on 3rd of March 2018 and it was the most perfect day! I had a little bit of a speedbump with a supplier on the day but Ian was absolutely fantastic! I could not thank him and his team more than enough for making our day so wonderful! Even with my fussy wine requests and our unauthorised (unknown) confetti mess, he met every single standard and went above and beyond to make our day exactly as we’d planned! Beautiful venue, Incredible Staff & Management, The Grounds are delightful and the food was delicious! All our guests were so pleased and the rooms are so warming, and quite possibly the most comfortable bed I have ever slept in. Thank you, I’ll always remember the perfect day and all those at dovecliff did for us!

Absolutely lovely place. Went there for a meal to celebrate my parents 50th wedding anniversary. The staff were helpful, friendly & perfect, but the best bit was the food. Cooked brilliantly, tasted fantastic and all to a high standard, but with a good portion size. The cheeseboard was the best my father and I have ever had eating out, the chutney on it must be tried. I highly recommend this establishment.

We have had a superb Christmas Eve Dinner. The food was excellent and the service impeccable in a private room for our party. We will definitely be going again.

Got married on the 24th November 2017, I had the most amazing day and it was all down to Ian and Marie they both went out there way to make sure everything went to plan how it should do, which is more than I expect them to, from menu tasting to making sure I had tissues in the day I couldn’t of wanted more, the grounds where amazing and the rooms where fantastic thank you so so much for making my dreams come true.

Very nice hotel in the English countryside. Extremely friendly staff that goes above and beyond. Rooms show their age, but are well maintained and very quiet. Restaurant serves excellent breakfast made to order (I believe it is included, not 100% sure since my company booked my stay) and unique dinner meals with a good wine selection. Would definitely stay again.

Nice from front. Room we had was downstairs with opening doors to garden. Door did not close unless locked. Not sealed right had loads of lady bugs and other creepiest coming in. Bed was solid was like sleeping on a slab. The doors opened and was a little grass and bushes with sound of a river or waterfall streaming from somewhere. The breakfast was included thankfully but we're little to be happy with. Had 2 types of egg as 1st had slime from not been cooked long enough and the scrambled eggs were runny. It was a very small amount. Now for the price of the place you expect nice and fancy that does not mean that we do not eat a lot and want flowers and leaves on our plate and beans served in a side jam dish. We hoped for a nice big breakfast. That we did not get.

I had great expectations for this hotel with my partner after a poor experience in a previous hotel that week in Reading. The setting is lovely but not so far as to be spectacular, our bedroom had the patio doors with seating outside however, this proved drafty, noisy and allowed bugs to enter the room several times, the door did not latch shut and had to be locked for it to stay closed. The bed was a fantastic size but very firm! not the comfort I was expecting, the rooms are in need of an update but that being said they are a good size. The breakfast left a lot to be desired! we had the full cooked breakfast and both times the fried egg came out burnt, the black pudding looked awful, the scrambled egg was way over buttered (mushy, gooey) and the beans were anything but a nice. the nicest part was the toast and jam provided. the cereal bowls were too small to hold the contents of the box and left me feeling puzzled in case I had used a saucer instead. on a plus note, the staff were friendly, the hotel was clean and the setting was relaxing. I have stayed in a lot of hotels and returned to many but, this will not be one of them.

We had a lovely family lunch last weekend: the food was marvellous and the surroundings were stunning — plenty of room for the smaller children to run round.

I only stayed one night. The hotel is set in a lovely location and grounds. The hotel may be a bit in need of modernising but the rooms and ceilings are spectacular. Both dinner and breakfast were home cooked and delicious, all very reasonably prices. All the staff are incredibly friendly and so accommodating. They made me feel really welcome and nothing was too much trouble. 5 stars because I will definitely be recommending this hotel to friends and colleagues.

The hotel and grounds are lovely. The room I stayed in was perhaps a bit dated and could maybe have done with a lick of paint and a new carpet thought. Breakfast was delicious and all seemed very fresh and the staff were very friendly and helpful.

Had a meal here on the 13th which was my birthday, food very poor veg was border on raw, pork was way over cooked and hard. I had the soup to start which was so hot it must have been cooked with a flame thrower could not eat it and what tiny bit I did have was tasteless waiter was told but said nothing except the words "your welcome " as I dont think he understood anything … I think you need a new chef in there as my birthday meal was terrible.

A beautiful period house in a lovely setting, let down ever so slightly by the details. The rooms were spacious and clean. I found it to very hot, even with the large windows wide open. Unfortunately the drone of road noise from the A38 is noticeable, so be aware if you are sensitive to things like that. Bathroom was fitted with a rain-style power shower, unfortunately this is unmovable so you're stuck with water from above. Quite a few of the staff were foreign. While not a problem, their English language was often quite difficult, and they were clearly not very experienced in the hotel trade. They were however all polite and friendly and everyone must start somewhere. Some service training would certainly not go a miss though. Dinner at the hotel was good, but expect to pay for the convenience. The most basic 2 course meals are £18, anything fancier goes up quickly. Little details seemed to be missed, such as the cutlery is very tatty. Breakfast was alright, it only starts at 7 which is a bit late really if you are staying at the hotel on business and need to get on with the morning. Breakfast staff were laid back in speed (I'm sure a holiday breakfast in the sun on the terrace would be delightful, but it seemed most of the gusts midweek had places to go). Coffee really was nothing to write home about, French press so expect plenty of grainy texture at the bottom of your cup. The gardens are beautiful and the woodland stroll really is a nice getaway.
