Very welcoming place with good meals! Excellent breakfast and good homemade dinners (spaghetti bolognaise and chili con carne)

This is a well run pub with great accommodation, the staff are very polite and efficient. We will definitely visit again.

We stayed at this charming country inn whilst visiting the nearby Blenheim Palace. It's very close to local amenities and the palace is only a 10 minute walk away. The staff were very friendly and their service was impeccable (I can't remember their names, but the barman with the London/Essex accent was great, as was the girl with reddish-brown hair). We stayed in room 6 which was well equipped, clean and warm — all you need for staying one night. It did get a little stuffy at night, but opening the en suite window rectified this. Other reviews state that the fixtures and fittings could do with an overhaul; I can see why someone might say that, but it's far from ragged or threadbare. The food was perfectly acceptable, if a little pricey (only a couple of pounds more than I thought it was worth, mind). Imagine decent quality, hearty pub food — that is what the punchbowl serves. Breakfast left nothing to be desired, it was spot on (and included in the price of our room)! In short: the staff are fantastic, the food is good but a little expensive, the room we stayed in was pleasant and comfortable. We would stay there again.

Pluses: the server was nice as was the bartender. The Cotswold Honey Pale Ale was very palatable. Minus and it's big — the food was very poor. Possibly the worst batter I have ever tasted: damp and tasteless. OK for a drink though expensive just don't bother eating there.

This could be a fantastic place to stay with just a few little changes. The room I had was lovely and quirky but a little dated and a fresh coat of paint could make a big difference. In the bathroom which was a really good size the flooring was uneven in one place and the toilet seat didn't fit properly, again things that could be fixed very easily. There were basic things missing which I think should come as standard in a room and these include bottled water (I don't drink tea or coffee), heated towel rail in the bathroom, tissues and a holder for toothbrush etc. I only stayed one night so that was fine but for a longer stay I don't think it is ideal. The carpet in the main areas needs changing as it is old and dirty and I think the heating system could do with being looked at as it doesn't seem to be working as well as it should. Staff are lovely and really helpful but I did feel a bit sorry for them and I think the owners really need to spend some time and money on bringing what is a lovely building up to scratch. The one thing they do have right is the cooked breakfast which was very good.

This was just a single room for one night. It was basic but that was reflected in the price. I enjoyed the breakfast, especially the singing coming from kitchen!

Great service and a fantastic Sunday roast (especially the gravy) make this somewhere I would certainly visit again.

Good was good although guy behind the bar was very slow! Guessing it was his first shift.

Friendly staff, nice little pub. Very slow service… But staff are nice and apologise for delays. No veggie choice, but a veggie option, if you understand the difference. Kitchen team will be prepared to see what they can make alternatively also.

Good pud sells beer, wine and other alcoholic drinks. Food is also good, prices are good as well. Car park nearby.

My family and I had a terrible dining experience at the Punchbowl. To start, the mussels were overcooked and very dry. For main, the lamb portion was tiny, the battered fish was incredibly oily, and the mash dry and yellow, probably the bit that got overcooked at the bottom of the pan. There was a real end-of-day feeling about the quality and service. Overall, we had seven dishes between us, but only two were enjoyable. We didn't stay for dessert. Unfortunately, despite the discount that was offered, this meal seriously tainted a day of celebrations.

Just went there for a beer. This is really a B&B which has a bar attached, rather than a pub. The staff were friendly, but the bar closes at 10pm and you may wait to be served behind B&B guests arriving to check in. Menu looked good and reasonably priced, although I didn't try it.

Slowest service I've almost ever seen, food was bland and luke warm. The deep fried brie was interesting, if it only came out warmer. For a 2 course meal, total time before the second course arrived was longer than an hour.

Great local pub serving good quality food for a decent price. Parking is minimal for the actual pub but there is parking all around the local area for free. Friendly staff that look after you and are very attentive to details.
