Thank you to Liz and everyone at 281 for delivering a delicious, seated, afternoon tea for us after my mum’s funeral on August 4th. The food was excellent and your staff were discreet and we were all safe from COVID-19 :)

Food was pre — ordered and to be honest think the beef must have been cooked upon ordering weeks ago… dry as old sticks!

Had a lovely night with my wife, very friendly atmosphere.

This is my favourite secret place.

Today we had our fathers wake at this lovely hotel. The room at the rear was set out beautifully and the food and service excellent.
We would definitely recommend this to anyone.

We attended a friend's wedding reception here. The food and service was brilliant, the staff were friendly and helpful. My partner, Byron and myself want to give a special mention to Karen, a manager at the hotel who gave us a lift back to our hotel. We were struggling to get a taxi and Karen came to our rescue. Many thanks again, we really appreciated your kind gesture.

We love this little hotel, fantastic welcome, great service, comfortable rooms, amazing food. Really close to Mansfield without being in the centre. Highly recommended.

Great breakfast and warm welcome. Don't take the wife but great for a boys golfing tour to Sherwood Forest and Hollinwell.

Food was simply amazing, best I've had in a long while. The rooms are nice though the double bed was a little small. Very friendly and helpful staff also.

We hired 281 rooms for our wedding reception. I cannot recommend highly enough. Staff are fabulous, food incredible, all together we had the most perfect day. Thank you to everyone involved. Love from Kirsty and Trev.

Not stayed, but I do go to the pub quiz and book club once a month. The food is great, the drinks area reasonably priced and both events are great fun.

Once again little imagination & no food suitable for Gluten Free sufferer. Sadly despite request for a salad (prepared to pay) unwilling to accommodate.

A little tired in parts but friendly… Well cooked food from a fairly narrow and traditional British selection. Rooms well sized. Very comfy bed. Continental and cooked breakfast menu. Large car park.

Absolutly Fantastic, we all went here for my father's wake, they had a brilliant spread, I dropped off some photo's so the staff could place them around the room before the guests arrived, the receptionist was a great help and it was a pleasure talking to her. Anyone thinking about hiring a function room out from 281 I'd highly recommend you do so as my experience was a very excellent one.

Great food, with great service in a nice atmosphere, loved the arbroath smokies, could eat them all day. Great stuff.

A Boutique small friendly hotel and bar with a very pleasant function room. I meet with friends there once a month and we always have a splendid evening.

Rooms are comfortable, heating needed to be kept on considering the weather conditions. Dinner menu needs looking at.

Terrible. Booked birthday meal. Restaurant closed due to staff shortages. Given awful table in bar area. Expensive and unhappy evening on a special occasion. Not impressed at all.

Easy to get to and plenty of parking. I go to the book club and the quiz, which are both once a month and both are great social events. The food is great as well, eaten both pub snack food and had nicer meals, both of which we're very tasty and good value.

Went to a wedding it was really good. Excellent buffet much better than your usual experience the yorkshire puds with lamb and mint were gorgeous. Ice cream van sweets cart, stuff for the kids on the disco. Staff were accommodating (you know what kids can be like after sugar). I'd highly recommend it great evening.

You will get a lovely welcome at 281. Good food and drink, and a nice relaxed atmosphere.

Just had wedding party here and we were more than happy with the result, definitely worth the money, the food was fantastic would definitely recommend this place.

We attended a wedding here sand it was a lovely affair. It's definitely a small venue but it was dressed well and the food and entertainment were spot on.

I booked for the Father's Day breakfast and we really enjoyed it. The food was lovely and the service was great! I would recommend the breakfast.

Had our wedding reception here and the staff were wonderful and supportive, even going out their way to right napkins in the right shade of teal, it's the little touches that make it stand out. The room was set up exactly how I had pictured it and the food was amazing! Our family still comment on how good it was. We have been back for mother day lunch which was also amazing food!

Brilliant venue, amazing staff and lovely food all made my Dad's surprise 70th birthday meal a great night. The ease of booking and their prompt replies to my emails makes it easy for me to recommend. Thank you all.

Stayed at 281 for two nights. The first night we had a room with a constant loud whirring noise that kept me up most of the night. After a fairly sleepless night, at about 7 in the morning we got moved to a new room and enjoyed about an hour of sleep before some loud banging started at 8. Breakfast was good, but after that the water was shut off. The second night there was an incredibly loud party downstairs that kept us up until about 2 in the morning.
The staff and reception are very nice and friendly, and the breakfast was good, but despite that this is the worst hotel I think I've ever stayed in. If you're looking for a good night's sleep, this is not the place for you.

Really lovely hotel and holds very special memories for me. My partner proposed to me on our 2nd anniversary in the beautiful bedroom overlooking the front. We also had our Christmas Day lunch there and it was outstanding. The food was delicious, the service was superb and the surroundings were gorgeous. From the moment we walked in we were handed a glass of bubbly and we were treated like VIP's from beginning to end. Sadly when we tried to book the following year they were already fully booked but I am not surprised because of how brilliant it was! They go all out to make you feel comfortable and I genuinely believe this is the best hotel in the area.

This is now "281 Restaurant & Room" with a refurbished restaurant and bar. Absolutely worth visiting the restaurant, one of the best in Mansfield.

Excellent service, would recommend this lovely place to anyone. The hotel and room are lovely and clean. The meals are out of this world, They have got some top rated chiefs here. The new owners have got great plans for the modernisation of the hotel. Well done.
