Review of Brackenborough Hotel 3*

Second time here, trying to make it my last. Place has so much going for it, once you get past the "pretty" decor. You find the flaws. My God is there flaws. Put us above the room where a wedding was happening. Even though I said specifically we were there on business. Breakfast second morning the eggs and black pudding were undercooked and the sausage had a visit to the crematorium before visiting my plate. One thin triangle of butter for 4 bits of toast. Fruit juices were warm. Not in the slightest bit chilled. Cured meats green. Just not good. At all. Evening meal was better but restaurant was dead on the day we were there and as much as the guy behind the bar (who both times by the way is fantastic and certainly deserves more credit than the rest of the place) was busy setting up for this wedding. The girls attitude. Jesus. Try and look like you care. Reception on check out was pathetic I'm not even getting into it. Had to do the bill 3 times didn't ask if everything was OK like she was used to problems. Complaint via email went unanswered. Just ridiculous. It could be so much better than what it is. Oh the room. Much smaller than last time although from what I gather I got the most expensive room the last time but the same problems arose. The decor is damaged in the room. The wardrobe is barely standing up and covers the only power point for anyone sleeping on the left hand side of the bed. Shower head needs replaced. Water from the shower is supposed to go down not out to the sides and into my eyes. Just so disappointing when it's clear it could be better. From what others were saying it's a function hotel only. Which would explain a few things. Hopefully it improves in the future. Has the potential to be fantastic.
