Lovely place and friendly staff.

What a disappointment, we went for a meal tonight 6 of us, after waiting over an hour my daughters pasta was still hard, my steak was not well done still red in the middle, mother in laws chicken was not cooked properly. Never again.

The steak I ordered was inedible, I had already explained to the waitress that I had not had good experiences of ordering medium rare steak. She said she would let the cook know to make sure it would be ok. It was burnt on both sides, grizzly and over cooked. I couldn’t eat it! When going to pay the waitress said “ Well it is hard to cook steak isn’t it “ No sorry, no money taken off the price and believe you me no custom off my friends and I.!

Stayed many a time and always had a warm welcome from all. Sadly I wont be going again due to a change in circumstances but wish all the best to Bob and staff x.

I stayed here for 2 weeks whilst working locally. Although it’s a little bit old fashioned, the room was comfy, the shower was hot and the food was great. I can’t comment on the breakfast as I left far too early in the mornings to receive it.
Staff are friendly and helpful, I’d stay here again next time I’m in the area.

In short: terrible, discusting experience. Overpriced, cold, extremly poor quality "school dinner" type food, served almost 50 minutes after ordering when we were the only other customers in restaurant. Upon complaining I was violently yelled at by the owner to the point I thought he may become psyically violent. I always give any establishment more than one visit to get it right. However the problem here is the vile attitude and ethos of the owners. In Detail: The venue is a quaint English tea room setting with a miss mash of porceline and bone china tableware. I commented how nice it was and that I liked how extensive the vegeterian menu was. The Waitress who was pleasant enough took order. We were waiting over 30 minutes. My food and mother-i-laws came at the same time looking srivaled from the off and somewhat reminisant of a 1980s school dinner. My mother-in-laws ordered battered fish which was no bigger than 3 fish fingers in size, came with three small new potatoes and 2 tablespoons of mushy peas. Sister-in-laws came 5 minutes later and we were reassured my brother-in-laws was on its way. 10 minutes later this had not arrived. He walked out and brought a sandwhich from the shop. All meals were lukewarm or cold and of poor presentation and exceptionally poor quality and quantity. Uppon complaining the owner who was also chef came and ask what the problem was saying "it was cold?

Looks good in side friendly staff and the toilets are A class not sure what the bar is like as never had a pint here yet.

Very hospitable, friendly staff. The pie I ordered was cooked to absolute perfection (and trust me I'm a baker), if you have a dog they will make a lot of fuss over it :)

Very large place lovely garden area plenty of room for family's big car park at the back of the hotel you don't need to be staying there to have lunch / drinks nice friendly staff.

Lovely clean room big family room! Nothing seem to much trouble really friendly staff. Would recommend highly. Clean room's and a good breakfast.

Friendly staff, good location in the heart of Alford.

First visit a friendly place to visit. We both enjoyed our two different meals would certainly go again if in the area.

Only there briefly but loved it. Will be going back.

A beautiful and welcoming place to be. Owners are very understanding and kind. We are planning on going back to stay there this year.

Just finished Sunday lunch at The Half Moon — absolutely lovely home cooked, delicious, hot and more vegetables than you would ever expect, thoroughly recommended.

Just popped in for drinks one night. Staff were very friendly and service was quick. It was very cosy, but the furnishings could perhaps have an update. Everything else was great.

Harry said Sunday here is amazing and the staff are very friendly, and our dog Katie was allowed dinner too x.

We meet up for a drink with work mates, looks very clean, good atmosphere.

Always enjoy Half Moon very good carvery on Sunday at sensible price good accommodation but need to check prices as a bit up market. Alford a guiet town about 12 miles from coast.

I think that Sunday lunch here (we've been here several times) is a lovely, traditional Sunday lunch with a huge choice of meats and vegetables and we will certainly be back. We often pop in mid week for coffees/tea/wine! with our Irish Setter, Danny, and are made very welcome with treats for our dog and feel very comfortable. This has been our experience on every occasion on which we have visited Half Moon and would recommend this venue.

Pleasant service, but limited selection of drinks. Bar and restaurant seemed very clean and the outside areas were lovely.

Great location, did not stay but had use of the function room which was an adequate size.

Fantastic service in the restaurant from the waitress who made us feel very welcome from the start. Food was lovely and reasonably priced. The beer garden was really nice.

Great room, clean and tidy and everything you'd expect for a B&B with en suite. Spot on breakfast, I had the full English and it was really good.

Stayed for one night, and were very pleased. Staff were very friendly, the room was clean and pleasant, lovely big bathroom, and the food in the restaurant was great. We both ordered rump steak, which was lovely. Breakfast the following morning was superb.
The only downside for me was the noise from the road, as we were in a room at the front of the building. But it wasn't unbearable.
Would be happy to recommend.

Omg just got back from here paid 7.95 for what I can only describe as utter shit no choice of potatoes only roast ones which were obviously frozen ones Yorkshire puddings that were just frozen ones meat full of fat raw parsnips lumpy gravy and only given a child's plate glad left nearly all of it n walked out disgusted never again will I step foot in that so called restaurant oh n the flies on the food looked more appetising than the carvery.

Ordered sirloin steak medium rare and received a steak the consistency of leather and the thickness of a slice of roast beef. When this was sent back, another steak was provided that was pretty much the same only slightly less cooked, thick with grease and about a third fat. As there seemed little prospect of it improving so no point sending it back again, I ate what part of it I could. When we said how unhappy we were with the quality, the chef came (eventually) to speak to us bringing with her A4 pictures of steaks — seemingly to explain that steaks always have some fat on them. Ironically if the steak had been anything like the picture the chef brought out we'd have been quite happy! When we tried to explain the issues with the steak (the chef didn't ask once what we thought the problem was), she blamed the butcher who supplied the meat, our lack of knowledge about steaks in general and us for being the sort of customers who always complain. She then went and talked to her staff and returned saying she would take £10 off our £130 bill as "all she could do" as if she was somehow doing us a favour. All of the above was a great shame as the people serving the tables were great, the bar/restaurant quiet and roomy and the meal was livened up by the sudden water feature pouring through the ceiling next to our table!

I went on Friday with my extended family after a burial ceremony for my mum. When we got there the bar was almost empty and it must have been about 2pm. My son and I ordered food, gammon for him and Lincolnshire sausages for me. The food took the better part of an hour to arrive, and I made 2 enquiries regarding how long the food was taking. Finally I was told that they were having to cook some more chips! We finally received our meals, which looked very nice but after a… couple of pieces of sausage I realised that something wasn't right. The lighting was dim so it took me a while to see what it was. The sausages were raw in the middle! I took my meal back to the waitress and, having had enough at this point, said that I no longer wanted the food. The waitress took the meal away. My son's meal was OK. When I went to pay, the waitress said we have knocked the price of your meal off the bill (I may be paraphrasing a little here) to which I thought 'really' but said thank you, paid for the other meal and, after a little while we left. At no point was there an apology or any kind of regret shown by the staff. Since then I have been suffering with a bad tummy and because I have a hiatus hernia this is quite painful. It is a real shame this happened, I have been in to the Half Moon many times over the years, having grown up in Alford, and never had this kind of problem but after this experience, it is unlikely that I will be back. Sorry.

Went for a meal out. Food was over cooked and poor quality; especially considering the price. Ham was very fatty, eggs were over done and tasted low quality, pork very dry through being microwave reheated. Would not return for a meal — all of my guests were disappointed and suffered the after effects.

Location was close to skendelby hall, we were allowed into the room at 11am. Breakfast was good but a little slow. Plenty of parking.
