Hi me my son stayed here very friendly helpful lovely breakfast recommend yes.

My wife and love the Athol so much, this current stay must be about our 20th. The position is perfect. Turn right for central pier and Tower, left for south pier and pleasure beach. Straight across the road and you will be in the sea. Remember that it is a family owned and run hotel, and that family are thoroughly lovely and decent. Food is always amazing. Any problems, just tell them. Be back next month. Unfortunately this hotel has now changed hands so please disregard my review.

Gave us a room on the spot as hotel cornhill let us down! Great costumer service very friendly would recommend to anyone wanting a close to the beach hotel.

We had a two night stay over the bank holiday and found the athol need to be updated but it was very clean and the staff are super helpfull so I would stay again. There is a young man from canada I think that was always there asking if we were ok or if we needed anything so a Big thankyou to him. I give a 4str as it is dated but to us this hotel is what blackpool is all about.

Does not even deserve 1 star. The hotel absolutely stunk, everything was dirty including the forks in the dining room. I stayed for 2 nights and nobody came in for room service, the desks were dirty. The breakfast tasted bad and the beans tasted old. One of the workers came down in the morning drinking a bottle of wine and helping himself into the kitchen where our breakfast was being cooked while he was DRUNK. Terrible service and would not recommend or go again.

Walked in on spec and received a warm welcome. Room clean and adequate for our needs. We didn't have the breakfast but it smelled great. Would definitely stay again.

We only stayed here 1 night, very tired interior and public access in need of repairing. I went over on my ankle due to very uneven flooring on the upstairs landing. The proprietor argued with me as we were not given an access code for the main door and had to use the bell. Our room was the valhalla aptly named, broken boarded window very grubby nets and curtains mould and loose paper huge crack in the wall that sadly let in cold air, my autistic son was not impressed. Bunks were made with non matching sheets and pillowcases, double bedlinen looked grubby, so we slept on top of the bed. There was mouldy chips under the bed and really bad dust on the carpet under the bunks, there were papers of booking information left in the room from a previous family. Breakfast consisted of 1 sausage one bit of bacon, spoonful of beans and an egg, one glass of juice toast, tea or coffee all of which was ordered the evening before. Breakfast staff were warm and friendly. Sadly I would not really recommend staying here.

Couple of things that could be easily sorted. All in all its a good place, nice staff, food was OK. TV too small and bed not the comfiest but was good in the end.

They only clean the bits you can see, duvets all stained underneath those covers, behind the drawers dont look like theyve ever seen a hoover as for breakfast well the tea and juice were nice.

Fantastic hotel, we have stayed twice now. Staff great, food great and best night sleep. We will be back to stay again.

We're just back from a 2 nite stay Great staff very welcomed, breakfasts wasn't the greatest and beds were so uncomfortable our room could do with upgrade in the rooms as a bit outdated great seaview couldn't fault that nor the staff.

\Just spent the weekend at this hotel. Our room was clean and tidy. It was on the ground floor as requested but the view was into a rear yard. However that should not deter because it was very quiet. The bed was very comfortable and there was ample tea/coffee making facilities. The bathroom was adequate but because I am slightly disabled I found the shower awkward because of a step up into it and obviously a step down when leaving it. Also the hotel restaurant was down some stairs and for me that caused a minor though not insurmountable problem. Breakfasts were very good, the food excellant. Entertainment was very good. Overall I would certainly recommend this hotel.

Unfortunately not a good experience due to many reasons. The worst was finding a sewing needle in the duvet whilst my husband was asleep. I reported this to the owners which the lady owner seemed to think it was a launderette that had made the error. The man thought it was not possible as they would charge extra which I have to agree. So I would like to know where it came from because no offense but if that had of stabbed us we would gave had to have had tests. Problem was left with owners taking my name and offering to sort a discount off our next booking. The rooms were filthy I have taken pictures of proof. Under no circumstances would I return even of they offered me a free weekend. One thing the breakfast was nice after a cold shower no hot water sunday morning.

Love this place we come here every yr and the owners are so welcoming its great that the beach is just across the rd from the hotel and and everything is within walking distance, there prices are amazing, great value for money, I would recommend hotel Athol, me and my 3 kid's love coming here, and look forward to being here again August 2016 :)

Because they was very nice and it was clean and the breakfast was very good. Just nice people and I will be going there again.

Floors annoyingly creaky, but pleasant rooms and friendly, welcoming staff.

Just had 3 nights in this hotel with my son. Girl at reception called Becky. Was so helpful and very pleasant. And very helpful with lots of information and knowledge of what to do and how to get discounts on visits to attractions. Food was lovely. Drinks were cheap and the rooms were well stocked, tea, coffee shampoo soap and towels changed every day. Met the boss and he was very nice too, bar staff at night made my son feel at ease. Good all round family hotel. Value for money.
