I booked a table as it was my partners birthday. On choosing a starter I asked if it would be possible to omit the walnuts in a soufle as I have a nut allergy, Of which I made the waitress aware of. I was told that the walnuts were already combined with the soufle and not able to omit them so I chose the cauliflower and sweetcorn chowder which would be nut free. After a mouthful of the chowder I noticed that there were what looked like chopped nuts and sweet corn floating as a garnish. I asked the waitress if these were indeed nuts and after a visit to the kitchen she returned and told me that they were indeed hazelnuts. The very same nut that was in the soufle that I declined to order earlier. After another talk to the chef the waitress stated that the chef had changed the recipe without telling any waitress staff or without updating the menu. So either the waitress didn't tell the chef that I had a nut allergy or the chef took no notice and added nuts anyway. It's lucky I noticed quickly otherwise I may of eaten more and increased my chances of an allergic reaction. The waitress didn't seem to take it very seriously at all until I stressed how serious it may be. Needless to say we didn't stay for a main course and left extremely disappointed and I left rather worried that I may suffer an allergic reaction. I believe more training should be given to your staff as the next time this happens the outcome may not be as good as it was for me. Absolutely disgusted, an evening ruined and We will not return.
