As a guy who really eats a lot of burgers, this pub has probably the best burger I've ever eaten. Set in a really picturesque village, this is well worth a visit.

Very enjoyable meal and good ambience. So popular that parking a bit tight,!

Smaller than anticipated and would have enjoyed better menu on fathers day very pre occupied with regulars.

Lovely pub right in the heart of the Test Valley. We popped in for lunch on a Friday and were greeted with a warm welcome and delicious food. Two courses each and we were back on the road again in under an hour. Quick and attentive service without feeling rushed. If we're in the area again we'd definitely head back to this place.

Stopped here on the off-chance for lunch and was pleasantly surprised. Staff friendly, food tasty (service was a little slow due to a wedding party being in) but aside from that, we very much enjoyed our visit. Dog-friendly and very clean loos to boot.

Such a great place for lunch or dinner. Every time we go there is a lovely menu. Highly recommended.

Nice enough food but the staff could up their game. Having seen the negative reviews decided to take a punt but wished we hadn’t. Grudging service left us feeling disappointed and unwelcome.

We only had a drink here but it was very cosy with friendly staff and a quick service. Only a small number of tables.

Fantastic place to stay. Really comfortable rooms and food was great. The staff were really helpful despite being rushed off their feet with Mother's Day. We will go back.

Lovely little pub and B&B. Nice rooms although very warm and were not cleaned every day. Food is good but a little expensive.

Stylish pub with a sophisticated menu, Cuban cigars sold behind the bar, a fishing theme if that's what takes your fancy and gentlemen… a spectacular mural for your delectation in the WC.

Nice pub located within walking distance to the test. Very good food and drink selection. Lovely location. Take a stroll down to the river or visit longstock park nursery up the road after lunch.

Stayed over night. An old fashioned country pub type hotel wirh limited accommodation. My room was great. Individual and comfortable. A good night's sleep and a great breakfast. Great service would recommend.

One of the best meals I've had! My friend had hake and chips. Lovely batter and super thick chips, very lightly salted. Very good service.

Visited for dinner as a table of 6 at very short notice, food was outstanding. Flavours and presentation far exceeded my expectations, from a very subtle and understated restaurant tucked away in a rural part of the Hampshire countryside. Front of house staff were also of a good standard. Would definitely visit again.

Dropped by during a cycle ride — really friendly bar staff and enjoyed a most refreshing beer. Interesting complex of buildings and a garden. All very neat and tidy.

Location and interior is great. Plenty of staff to help, the food is very well presented, but is not amazing. Just very good pub food.

We live locally and often drive past and thought we'd give it a go. Not disappointed! Lovely setting, amazing food and friendly staff. We will definitely be back and would recommend it to anyone.

Set in a quaint village, with ample parking to the rear, this pub turned out to be a great spot for a Sunday lunch. Service was good, if a little distracted, and the pork, lamb, and beef roasts were all delicious. Only quibble with my dish was I could have done with a little more beef.

The staff were amazing and when we asked if we could check in earlier they accommodated for us even though they didn't need to. The bedrooms were lovely. It was a perfect representation of a lovely country hotel.

Disappointing. The main course was nice, but after 40 minutes of being ignored, we left without dessert. The young waiting staff were seemingly too busy chasing the bigger tips on offer from larger parties to bother with a table for two.

I was one of the kps, however the place looks lovely and the food is amazing.

Last night I ate at the Peat Spade for my birthday. The food made with such care! Everyone ordered something different from one another and everyone said it was incredible! And it truly was! The wine was absolutely delicious too! But the thing that was most impressive of all was the service! I was treated like an absolute princess! Thank you so much to Nikki and the team for the possibly the best meal of my life! I had the most perfect night! Thank you!

Terrific meal all around. Restaurant has great character and is located in a lovely setting.

Lovely outdoor area in a nice location.

Atmosphere was great and there is tons of opportunity to create an awesome experience. However, the inexperienced or untrained evening staff keeps this establishment from being top of the line. Hopefully ownership will seize the potential here. (morning server on both Sept 11 and 12. Was outstanding)

Had lunch at the Peat Spade today, it's not cheap but the beef and lamb was very tender and delicious as were the vegetables but we were not overly keen on the Yorkshire pudding. The beer was good but we couldn't manage a dessert.

Just had lunch at the Peat Spade, The food was fine and obviously prepaired with a good degree of care and made with quality of ingredients. Not cheap. But I didn't have to pay the bill! Staff very attentive and surroundings pleasant. Will visit again.

Excellent menu, fresh tasty food with great service from the knowledgeable and friendly staff. We stayed in one of the rooms which was cosy, immaculately clean, comfortable and tastefully decorated. Looking forward to going back.

We choose the Peat Spade to celebrate our silver wedding anniversary with a dinner with a group of friends at the beginning of June. We booked the private dining room on the first floor and used the terrace for a champagne reception and the service was first class. There was something to suit all tastes from the choice of food and wine. The whole event was a complete success and everyone was highly complementary of the atmosphere and the quality of the food. It was just what we wanted.

Excellent food — a great place to celebrate a birthday.

A birthday is supposed to be a treat, especially when family travels to celebrate it with you. Unfortunately we chose to celebrate at the Peat Spade Inn. One of our party does not eat fish or meat. The only item on the entree menu not to contain either was a mushroom risotto, and he hates mushrooms. For the first time at any restaurant we have visited, the kitchen essentially refused a request to put together a plate of vegetables and potatoes from those shown on the menu. He ended up with a mixed salad. Worse was to come for the rest of us. Two of us ordered the crayfish, which were mushy and overcooked inside and laden with eggs that tasted bitter and scattered themselves all over the rest of the meal. Not that this was worth eating, since the potatoes tasted like the old Cadburys Smash instant stuff and the vegetable was huge stalks of raw rough rocket. The chicken ordered by one of the party was still raw inside, causing her to rush to the toilet and vomit. Finally, one of our party had ordered the fish and chips. She gave up a third of the way into the fish, which was watery and overcooked, having eaten three of the chips, which she said tasted like flour and sat like a lead weight in her stomach. One of our party went to talk to the chef, who was completely unmoved and more interested in moving his car. We ended up returning our food and leaving — something I have never done before, but the food was inedible.
