This is by far the most awesome pub I've ever been to. Not because of the incredible food, or lovely bar staff (and lovely they really are) but my goodness — the tribute nights! 👌🏻 absolutely fantastic. Whatever the occasion — this is the place to be 🤩

Friendly staff, a lovely pub with a large beer garden, lots of nooks and crannies to dine, celebrate in, chat over a drink and just relax in. Rooms are comfortable, spacious and clean and the breakfasts are fabulous. I don’t own a dog, but I liked the extra touches to make furry friends welcome too.

Came to the Hampshire hog on Friday 29th April to see the elvis tribute with my family and my children loved it the staff were very polite and friendly definitely going to return.

The food is incredible! if you get the chance to try the Halibut, do it, just perfect! The staff are so welcoming and friendly and the rooms are so clean and comfy!

Large, comfortable room with welcome basket on top of the usual tea & coffee in the room & also fresh milk & bottled water in the fridge: excellent facilities for the price we paid. Ironing board & hairdryer also in the room. The Staff we great, especially Charlie at the bar Sunday evening & lovely gentlemen at breakfast (sorry didn't get his name) where nothing was too much trouble, when we asked for no eggs with salmon, alternative milk (almond) for porridge/coffee etc. Hubby had full English. Pleasant & informative welcome at reception too. Wish we had stayed for dinner Sunday night but had already booked elsewhere. We will definitely be back, especially as I spotted my favourite mudslide on the cocktail menu on the wall, which I hadn't noticed Sunday evening! Thank everyone.

Booked a table for 17.00 and we’re back home by 17.45! Worst roast we have ever had the misfortune to have out. Extremely disappointed since we had visited sometime ago and foolishly expected the same standard. What has happened to this pub? We arrived and were greeted by someone who looked very unhappy (no job satisfaction obviously) he didn’t proceed to show us to our table or introduce our waiter but just pointed and said “It’s table 18 by the window”…. Yeah; thanks for that! No beef on the menu so we both chose roast pork and crackling; only there was no crackling but we weren’t advised of this when we ordered and had to ask for it. However, we were compensated with an extra cold flat Yorkshire pudding. The roast itself…. The plates were stone cold, the one parsnip was raw and the one roasted carrot looked like it had the ability to bounce. The potatoes were anaemic, cold and what seemed like microwave reheated. The pork was very cold as was the gravy. The only hot, tasty veg was the cauliflower cheese presumably because it’s come straight from the microwave. At no point did anyone offer a smile or ask how our meal was. Funny really because they state on their menus that they’re passionate about food……NOT! We only ate this meal because we’d been on a very long dog walk and were extremely hungry so it “filled a hungry spot”. If we’d gone any earlier we’d have rejected the meal and left. And all for the price of £16.75 each! Safe to say we shall NOT be returning.

Stayed here last night with husband and dog. For one night only, unfortunately. Can’t fault it (well scrambled egg enough said) it was superb. Attention to detail etc couldn’t be faulted. Well done.

Went for breakfast on a Sunday morning, wasn't busy at all. Staff were unattentive, orders had things missing, and to top it all they thought it was fair to charge £2.50 for an extra sausage! When I queried it I was told they have to make a profit! There's making a profit, and there's taking the p# Total bill came to over £100, but still had to go and find someone to ask if we could pay. Won't be rushing back to this shambles any time soon.

We have just stayed in this hotel for 4 nights, it was fabulous! Stuart and his staff were great, especially Manuela, Amy, Collette and Steve! very attentive and made our stay very pleasant indeed! We booked bed, breakfast and evening meal, food was great! Lovely breakfast to set us up for the day, evening meal was fab, especially the steak! We will most certainly return! You won’t get better value anywhere!

Dried out poor food. Staff were not bothered and didn’t even apologise when we sent two meals back, we then left after waiting 20 mins with still no replacement. No acknowledgement from the staff, including the Manager. What a shame they can’t even get Customer Service right.

Stopped here for breakfast with a friend today and it was lovely. Staff were really friendly and the breakfast was lovely.

A great overnight stay. Good evening meal, great room, fantastic breakfast and very friendly staff. Easily recommended.

Didn’t stay, just had lunch. AmaZing food and service.

Absolute rip off. Ordered steak (£25) so expected a decent size and it was so small, made the plate look massive. A beefeater steak for half the price would have at least been massive and loaded with other items on the plate.
All other meals were just ok.
The child’s macaroni cheese was like a microwave meal with ketchup in! Just because it is a child’s menu doesn’t mean it can’t be a quality meal.
Even with the help-out-eat-out! Does not mean that you skimp on food and quality.
Really gone down hill.
We went for a birthday occasion which made it more disappointing.
Don’t go there! There are so many other restaurants that make eating out in this difficult time still a special experience.

Had a lovely stay and thoroughly enjoyed the breakfasts and evening meals we had. It was lovely to have little treats in the room with cider, pork scratchings & fresh apples. The service was second to none and rooms cleaned and tidied every day. The atmosphere was warm and friendly with twinkle lights and real fires. Would definitely recommend and stay there again.

All the staff were polite & helpful. Ben served us today. What a very attentive & efficient young man. It became quite busy at times but Ben remained polite & helpful.
Lovely place to enjoy a meal. Good menu with a good selection to choose from. I had the club sandwich which I would definitely have again, it was delicious. Lovely cup of tea too. Companions with me enjoyed their meals & coffee.

A lovely 3 night stay, thank you. Lovely decor and ambience for breakfast. A good choice for breakfast. Clued up staff to assist for my Coeliac daughter. Excellent cleaning of rooms with a good personal touch eg a mini fridge, fresh milk, bottled water and disposable travel cups. A nice size private car park in a quiet location. … Fully recommend!

Staff are friendly. One of the best places to go.

My son is in his first year of Uni and living away for first time. He was working here and his life was made a misery by his manager who openly told him she thought he was a joke. She has picked on him and spoke in such an awful way to him that a customer approached him to ask if he was ok. He was poorly and attended the hospital and was unable to do his shift as he had been told to rest, he called in and explained this but this proved to be the last straw for my son as he was told it was not acceptable.
I am sure this is a lovely place and others probably have a fine time working there but this has been an awful experience for my son who feels he was victimised.
If the customer who asked my son if he was ok after she heard how he was spoken to reads this then thank you very much for asking him.

We always have a nice time at the ‘Hog’. The staff are always welcoming and the food is always great.

Edit: This place is going downhill. Service is getting worse and the menu is rather bland for the prices charged. Service was good and food was really nice. Had a good meal with my girlfriend at a reasonable price. I often go to this pub/restaurant with no complaints.

A superb place to stay, with with hard working and polite Staff, from the reception to the Bar. The rooms were spacious and had all the room amenities you needed. We stayed for 4 nights and the standard didn't drop for the whole time we were there. We will defiantly be going back to stay again, and we would recommend The Hampshire Hog, to family and friends.

We drove around for ages trying to find a pub that wasn't extremely busy with a lovely garden that serves food. Too much to ask on a beautiful sunny Bank Holiday Monday. Ended up here at the Hampshire Hogg (Hoggs Lodge to the locals). Lovely location, beautiful views, nice food and reasonable prices. The four of us had a lovely peaceful afternoon here, I wish all Bank Holidays could be as enjoyable as this.

Excellent quality food and service. Dog friendly, beautiful beer garden and now the added bonus of a hotel tucked in behind the pub. Perfect for birthdays ETC. This has now become a firm favourite of ours. Will definitely be back again. Smiley happy staff who genuinely are interested in their customers and offer exceptional customer service … No wonder it was busy! However despite it being busy we found a table easily and grabbed a bite to eat. Can't fault the food … it's tasty and great size portions too.

What a lovely country pub, I’ve been here a few times now and I’ve never been disappointed. Today I was greeted by a lovely chap called Sammy, he was so friendly and helpful and made sure everything was ok, the food was lovely as always. I would recommend the Hampshire Hog to anybody.

Amazing hotel. Would give it 5 stars! Fresh coffee and a cafetiere in the rooms is an absolutely magic touch. The pub is ok. The staff are amazing — friendly and kind. The food is good but didn't blow us a away.

Lovely country pub serving great food. The accommodation, for the money, was amazing! Clean, fresh and very well equipt rooms. Price-wise this is competing against premier inns etc and it beats them hands down. In fact it wallops the 4-star hotel I am writing this review from! Highly recommended!

The food was fantastic, the service I couldn't fault, the bar staff were super friendly and helpful … the only reason I didn't give this 5 stars is because where we were sat it was very cramped, so much so the woman near us gave us 'the look' as we tried to squeeze passed, as she did with the people on the table in the corner also and one of the staff accidently knocked a fork off my friends plate without even knowing. I would go back for the atmosphere and food.

Unexpectedly nice, modern B&B just in the middle of nowhere. Great gastropub with various dishes with the twist. I really enjoyed relaxed atmosphere, friendly staff and being with the friends somewhere out. South Downs Way is just around the corner.

Went here for a birthday meal they gave us a nice table tucked away nice and cosy. There signature dish is hog, but I went for a burger which is in a nice brioche bun with gherkins we did have to pay extra for the cheese and bacon, it came with really nice skin on chips and a good portion. I would recommend having a pudding the brownie was beautiful. They have a good size car park.

Brilliant pub. Not had such friendly service in an eatery in the UK before. From booking right through to being served from the carvery, the staff were extremely friendly and helpful. Food was good too and portions were generous.

One of my locals so I'm not going to knock it. The food is good, they serve HSB and they have a nice log fire in the winter time! The staff seem pretty attentive as well!

I attend a Networking group at the Hampshire Hog. The breakfast is amazing and the staff very friendly. The food comes out hot and is very tasty. Very welcoming pub with a lovely atmosphere even at 8am in the morning.

Rang today at 1pm and was able to book a table for 1.30. The atmosphere in the pub waswgreat. Nice welcome by one of the many waitresses. The Carvery was super tasty and served by a very friendly chef who actually talked and smiled and interacted with the customers — top marks! Food was great. Beef and gammon melted in your mouth and the vegetables were delicious, we especially loved the crispy roast potatoes. Well done everyone, we had a great lunch.

Popped in for lunch wondering whether we would get a table. The waitress was most helpful and squeezed us into a brilliant tucked-away corner. The place was full and very busy, but we got excellent service and we were served in a respectable time. The food was well presented and very tasty. The chef serving the carvery (Robbie) was first class offering the magic mix of service, banter and attention to detail. The jewel in the crown amongst the Hog's Lodge's staff is their waitress Alex.

Nice old fashioned pub but not always the friendliest welcome and limited choice of ale. Was better under long past Gales ownership.

We had christmas dinner her this year, upon arrival met the events manager she was very friendly and welcoming. We were offered drinks and taken to our table. The food was of a very high standard and well presented the service was very good as well.

Travelling on our way home from a couple of cold, damp days in Amsterdam. The hot provided us with a warm welcome and hot warming food for the soul. The stag were attentive without being obtrusive and the food was superb.

This place looked inviting when I passed so decided to visit on the return journey. Inside is pretty bland and the food was uninspiring but mid priced. It was fairly empty on my visit apart from a couple of large, noisy families which, whilst not the venues fault, didn't add to the experience.

The hotel rooms themselves are very well appointed with modern decor. From the reception you can walk straight into the traditional pub which has plenty of cosy spots to sit and chat. The choices for the included breakfast are also excellent and are served in a bright, comfortable room.

We want here for a small birthday get together & could not fault them, the rooms were what we needed, they were clean & in good order. The drinks were priced the same as anywhere, they were quick to serve but not so quick to take the old glasses, however we had food from the menu & from all the dishes we had from starters to mains they were very good. I personally had a ribeye steak & this was cooked as I wanted & very well, steaks are a hard thing. Breakfast was good & made to order so fresh & hot, there was a good amount of choice. I would recommend this place without issue. Thanks for a great stay.

I cannot fault this place. 8 of us stayed a night to celebrate a Birthday and everything from check in to check out was great. Rooms were spacious, beds comfortable, pillows great. Fab selection of Gin behind the bar. Evening meal service was efficient, good choice and the steak was to die for. Breakfast selection was superb. We would be more than happy to return (if allowed — as we were rather loud) Efficient and friendly staff make all the difference — so well done all.

Location is brilliant, especially during the summer with the views. Staff are friendly and accommodating, always with a smile. Great food and a really chilled out pub.

Very lovely country pub close to Butser Hill. Stayed for a drink and was a great environment for a chat. They serve food and there is a hotel attached. Ample free parking too which is always a bonus.

Lovely venue and staff but the chicken wings were dreadful and despite complaining I wasnt offered anything which I found strange, so tough cookies if the food is rubbish I guess!

Fantastic location with lovely views across the hills. The food is always good summer or winter with good prices. The staff are always friendly and helpful. Service is always with a smile. Always a good atmosphere, never seen any trouble which would make sense for the location. Just a really nice pub to chill out at and catch up with friends.

Went here for my dad's birthday and it was very disappointing. *The burgers were below par — you get a better one at wetherspoons — not worth £14.50. * I had the Butternut Squash & Sage gnocchi — the gnocchi was a horrible texture, not shiny and light as it should be, the kale was overcooked, and there was not taste to the Butternut squash or sage. Nuts thrown in for good measure but were hard and didn't work. I asked for a refund to which there was no quibble but I didn't enjoy my meal one bit. * The cheeseboard at £7.50 was ridiculous… 5 measly biscuits and a tiny bit of cheese and grapes. Definitely not worth the £7.50 we paid. * My mum had the Sunday carvery and wasn't impressed. * Woman at the door was not welcome and almost grunted when we said we had a table booked — she should try smiling once in a while, it is the service trade after all. * Our waiter was a bit dozy and kept wandering over and peering at all of our plates to see if we had finished, he must have done this at least 3 times whilst we were still eating! Shame, nice views and beer garden but hyped up and won't eat there again.

Great stay with the kids in a joining room. One of the most relaxing stays we have had. Food was really fresh and tasty and the cask ale was in top condition. Will be back soon.

Nice rooms. Lovely comfy bed, but bathroom definitely needed a decent clean. And breakfast was a bit slow, bacon was like cardboard and lady that was serving looked very stressed. But other than that people were helpful and friendly. Only stayed one night.

Really nice carvery served by professional chefs and kitchen team. Great location, easy to get to. Went on a Sunday afternoon with no reservations and had no problem getting a table for 4.

The food wasn't the best but the pub atmosphere was outstanding. I would 100% come again for a great country pub experience. Also does Pepsi instead of coke which I prefer :)

Excellent service they coped with us all, 18 and the food was good except for the curly kale, not for carvery please note, but everything else was super and the waiter and waitress very good and smiled a lot.

Nice place. Rooms very good clean smart and have fresh milk for your morning room cuppa. Step above Travel lodge and few other places. Food good, staff very good and quiz nite on a Tuesday. All the customers seemed happy. I liked it.

The food was very yummy. The service could not be faulted as they were very accommodating. I could just about manage to squeeze in dessert. I would definitely recommend this place.

I've been a visitor the hogs lodge for many years, popping by from the moment I was old enough. Sadly my visits have declined since the place was refurbished. Whilst the renamed Hogs Head looks stunning, the impression I have is that it only really caters for diners. Every table is prepared with a knife and fork, there isn't a single place for drinkers to sit down and enjoy a pint. A really pity. Perhaps this is because I drop by in the evenings and after work. Despite that, the views from the Hogs are fantastic. For walkers, you're close to Butser Hill and QECP. I can't comment on the food as I've not eaten here, and the place looks superb, but apart for that there isn't anything for me here now as I only ever popped in for a quick pint.

Good pub but I was not happy about the fact they closed at 10pm on a Sunday unlike most other pubs. I have been coming here a week for over four years but this year 2012 it let me down. Was dissapointed so walked all the way to clanfield to have one more pint. Sodden and covered in mud I've now found the Rising Sun. New owner and he has said he's open late. So now I'm happy.

Well what can be said other than excellent on all counts! Great food, great atmosphere, rooms are superb, and you couldn't ask for a more helpful and friendly team to look after you during your stay. They all really like to add a personal touch.
