Really well situated for the Salford and Exchange Quays if, like me, you have business in that area and can be easily accessed via the Piccadilly-Eccles Metrolink. Has a very warm welcome from the staff member behind the desk on arrival and, as there was only 1 other guest checking in at that time, I didn't have too long to wait. The room was clean and decorated to a decent standard. There were tea and coffee making facilities and I know a colleague was pleased about the Douw Egberts coffee on offer. Whilst the bed was comfortable, the insulation between rooms wasn't great and I could hear another guest's snoring at certain points in the night. The room came equipped with an iron but this was of dubious quality with it being impossible to tell the temperature it was set to by looking at the dial. Bathroom facilities were OK: shower over bath set up, soap and gel provided, hot water dispensed at what seemed like boiling point and sink taps the wrong way round (cold tap dispensed hot). On the first night of our stay we ate in the hotel restaurant and the service was as slow as I've now come to expect with the Copthorne. I don't know whether they're understaffed there but it wasn't busy at all and there was still significant waits to have someone take our order, bring food over and we ended up leaving without receiving the bill as nobody came over to us after we'd finished to either offer us the bill or any desserts etc. Probably wouldn't be my first choice if in the area again.
