Food was good. However service on a Friday evening was very slow. I had a hair in my fishcake batter which took me a while to get a waitresses attention and she just took the plate and didn't say anything. Replaced the one fishcake which had a hair and didn't even offer any kind of compensation. Poor service but is cute inside. Such a shame.

Small classic looking pub at the north of Waterloo Bridge has an out-front table/standing area perfect for a few drinks in the sun. Not eaten here myself but the food looks good when checking out other people’s orders! Bar snacks menu reads decent too! I use this pub to meet the wife or friends before heading elsewhere. The area outside is busy with cyclists, cars and buses and is good if you like people watching!

Traditional late Victorian corner pub with the benefit of a large outside seating area. Great beer served by polite happy staff. Worth a visit.

For a pub this close to the Lyceum its not at all crowded. I've been here a few times during the summer and having a large outdoor space helps. Friendly staff and a great range of draft beer and cider makes this a great spot for a couple after work.

Had a breakfast here, which was delightful! Just the right amount for a full english and all well cooked. And, at time of writing there is a great value two for 12 quid deal on. What more can you ask for!

Good to eat and drink there. Make sure you go there during happy hours fromm 3 pm to 6 pm. Atmosphere is great and you have possibility to seat outside.

Great Gluten & DAIRY free options at Great prices! Our waiter was Jose and he totally made the meal so much better! Drinks are also great w/ very reasonable prices (being from California). Everything cooked well and pacing was perfect (never felt rushed or ignored). Thank you!

A great, authentic pub! On the ground floor and in front of the door you meet beer for the end of the day. Upstairs is then the Dinning Room. Here you can sit very comfortably and dignified and enjoy typical British food! Various Pies, various Roasts on Sunday (! ) and very good fish & chips offers! The service is quiet and unexcited, so we quickly felt at home. Discover my love for Ginger Beer (alcoholic! ) here!

Nice food. Fish and chips are bit oily. Good ambience. Mortimer apple cider is a excellent choice.

Great public with great food and the only problem was it was a little bit overpriced but that was OK because it was phenomenal as well is good stuff and good food. I also suggest the big bus to or if you’re going anywhere in England as a tourist. The staff tells you Good places to eat and the live white one is very good.

Very central location. Nice for everything except for the kind of music, too noisy. That's why I only give him two stars. Good atmosphere to the public. Normal price. As in other pubs the volume of voice of the customers, who go out of work, is increasing as you see pass the pints of beer.

Delightful pub with dining room upstairs. The place was full but we didn't have to wait much to sit. The fast and courteous service updated us on the menu of the day, accompanied us in the choice of dishes and took care of the table throughout our stay.
Good service adds a good quality cuisine, exquisitely English dishes and beers for every taste.
Recommended Simo, better if prior reservation.

Me and my son popped by for some food at your restaurant the other day. We were very happy with the food as well as the service as it was remarkable. The girl who served us, I think her name was Keysi, was really nice and welcoming. She also reccommended us some more places to visit as it was our first time in London. Definetely coming back with the whole family next time!

Had a few drinks here after leaving the theatre, lively and fun pub. Locals were welcoming. Came back the morning after to try the 2 for £12 English breakfast, well worth it.

Good place to meet people from all over the world. I love the outside tables where you can watch the lively city.

A real English pub, with beer, spirits, television, people who speak very loud and joyously, servers of all origins (I explain not the Spanish accent). For the night of the new year, very nice pub for good fun.

Lovely traditional pub with bags of atmosphere. Stopped for lunch and had delicious vegetarian sausages and mash which was tasty service was great and quick and everybody was very friendly.

A cosy little pub strategically located. Pleasant staff allow you to try the real ales and if you're peckish some impressive pies. Worth a look.

Disappointing afternoon tea. Apart from sandwiches, all appears to be staright out of a packet. Real pity as lovely location.

Good chain pub. Desserts are delicious and has a really good Mac and cheese. Drinks are not that expensive and it has a happy hour. Definitely recomendable.

I was only here for 1 drink but the staff were nice and friendly & they had a decent selection of drinks. I'd go back to try the tasty looking food.

My Wife and I ate here Fri 29th for our evening Meal before going to see the Lion King at the Lyceum Theatre just a few yards up from this Fantastic Pub. The Staff Food and atmosphere are excellent extremely great value for money and very decent portion size I can personally recommend the Chicken Chorizo Pie and my Wife highly recommends the Nicholson Burger. So next time you are in the Strand you must eat here. Brilliant Pub excellent food fantastic Staff.

Nice inside and outside area watching the world and buses go by… looking along Waterloo Bridge. Pleasant on hot sunny day sat out with chairs and tables. Fullers Brewery pub with selections of their great ale.

The day was great so we had the option of sitting outside which was great. The beer was also good with reasonable prices. Your typical pub.

A nice place for an evening beer. Getting in and out can be hazardous however, as the pub is on a steep hill, with a two-way cycle lane right outside. Cyclists going up the hill do not want to stop pedalling to let you past as they lose momentum, the ones coming down the hill travel very quickly.

Typical Pub with a cozy restaurant on the upper floor. The food is delicious and served pretty quick. Would definitely go there again.

Absolutely delicious food! Came across this place by chance but very glad we did. Their Sunday roast and pies were really good, very pleasant atmosphere. Would gladly go there again.

The atmosphere would have been improved if it wasn't force upon you with piped music. The beer was well kept, but they would serve with a large head.

Standard pub fare with excellent transport links, given its proximity to Waterloo. Service was a bit slow when I visited, but no other problems. If it's quiet the railway can be heard from above.

The Wellington is well located for Waterloo Station and a good place to meet people. The atmosphere inside is warm and welcoming and seemed children friendly on our visit. The prices are reasonable for its location and being in London. The food was ok, well presented and tasted ok. They have TVs inside and showed the rugby and F1 qualifying while we were in there. The selection of drinks is average. I would go back to this pub again.

Worst service in all of Europe. My husband and I travel quite frequently, especially around Europe. This was by far the worst service we have ever encountered. Staff were very unfriendly and unaccomodating. I would never return even for a significantly reduced rate.

Great stay and comfy beds fab breakfast.

The dinner here was really tasty and the atmopsheare is familiar and warm. But the really gorgeous thing was that even if we came here late when the kitchen was about to close they have been nice with us. I ordered something but the waitress came saying that they didnt have it at the moment but I could choose everything else I wanted from the menu. I'm not sure everyone would have done that as weel. That was really appreciated by us, we'll come back for sure.

Terrible customer service and aggressive manager. I went in for drinks with a friend after work. The beer I was drinking was having the barrel changed so I opted for another one. Didn't like it so asked to wait for the original one. The manager intervened and basically said no because there was nothing wrong with the beer they served. Absolutely no problem with his decision. What I had the problem with was the aggressive tone he took with me. He ended up storming off, whilst I remained calm and composed. I complained to other members of the team. One of the team members threatened me, saying that if I had something negative to say to the manager then I'd better leave the pub. Disgusting attitudes. Don't go here.

We were hotel guests. Very nice and clean (albeit small, considering we had the "luxury double room") rooms. Room prices are a bit steep, but maybe that's standard for London. Breakfast was very tasty (Full English, vegetarian version also available), the staff was nice. You can hear the trains as they are going by, but it's not too loud and we slept very well. Unfortunately the (free) Wi-Fi did not work while we were there.

Took visiting family for a drink and to watch football last night. Pub smelled awful. My beer was flat so I returned to ask for a replacement. The manager looked at the beer told me it wasn't flat and became very confrontational and argumentative. I eventually got a replacement from bar staff, waited 5 minutes though as the staff were busy The manager was playing on his phone not doing much, he told me it was beneath him to serve me. Shocking. The staff seemed unhappy. Would not go back and would not recommend.

Terrible service from the staff in general. They couldn't manage to make at least a descent coffee in two attempts. Music was too loud during the afternoon, we couldn't hear each other. It could be such a nice pub with a bit more competent staff.

A nice hotel, good location and good PUB as well, booked it twice now.

Right on the beaten track just outside Waterloo station but a really good location for a working pub lunch — great staff.

Came here after work on a Friday night. Good atmosphere here and the service is prompt too. Like the seating arrangements and not a rowdy pub. Saw customers drinking outside as it was a nice day so that's good to see. Would come here again.

I have just returned from a overnight stay at this hotel and I have to say — WOW! The hotel is fantastic, steeped in history (which I love! ) and when I arrived approx 30 mins before official check-in, the staff were so incredibly helpful. Travelling as a single female to London and arriving at the hotel, I felt perfectly safe and the staff made me feel really welcome. The location is perfect for short stays if you want access to Southbank where there seems to be something going on ALL the time, 5 mins from Houses of Parliament and Big Ben and well. The list is pretty endless. Central too just about everything. I was in London to meet an old friend of mine and the Wellington was the perfect place for us to meet — and we had a great night there! The ambiance was perfect, music not too loud so we could actually hear our own conversation, the bar wasn't overly crowded but everyone there was in good spirits. The room itself, top floor and right opposite Waterloo train station, was clean and tidy and surprisingly QUIET! Although a little warm being the height of Summer, there was a fan in the room that did the trick nicely. I loved the decor and it was perfect for just me. I had two meals during my stay — dinner on Saturday evening and then the breakfast which was included in the room tariff. Both were equally as good, well presented, tasty and very reasonable in price. No complaints at all.

Pros: nice stone walls, traditional pub feel Cons: loud, repetitive music made talking difficult, overpriced, stuffy/toilet smell around the bar.

We were in the area and stuck for somewhere for Sunday lunch. The Wellington exceeded expectations with excellent roast lamb, crunchy roast potatoes and nicely done veg for £10. A fairly good range of ales too. As we were about to leave, the football started on the TV, and the volume went up. So you may want to plan your visit accordingly.

I'm only reviewing it as a pub, cause that's all I used. "Tavern" is just the right name for this place — very 60-70s vibe — big bar, lots of keg beer and lager. Only the Red Barrel is missing. It's fine, it's right by the Station and you get served quickly — so fine for travellers.
