Awful place. The website photos looked amazing when booking. It's a typical side street hotel. You have to pay £20 to park outside where it says private parking. Big con. I will admit I've never seen a quirky place like it. But the reception was not warning or friendly. Breakfast was awful. They dumped a tray outside your for with a waffle and juice. That's not a continental breakfast. I would say this is more like a hostel. No shower. No iron. No carpet. So the floor is really slippy. We travelled 3 hours for this.

This place was amazing! Chosen by my partner as part of a surprise birthday weekend and it did not fail! The place has such wonderful charm, decor and quirkiness. If your expecting a chain style hotel then dont book here, you've got to be a certain type of person to find this place amazing. The bed was really comfy, the room was ample sized, warm and inviting was also clean. Stone's throw from Paddington Station which is handy. The communal areas were delightful and had such different characteristics to each part. Considering we were one of the rooms at the front and had the window open all night as we were hot we had a peaceful night sleep, obviously there was noise but it is London after all. The staff were polite and inviting.
There are a few things that perhaps could be changed… The room was well loved, some was how it should be such as the reclaimed sink and headboard, things like the broken Chandler and Threadbare rug but it kind of adds to the charm of it. There wasnt any milk to be able to make a cuppa, but we didnt ask for any from the reception so could have just be a genuine error of a busy person. The bathroom had a shower over the bath but nothing to attach it to so was an interesting shower but again we enjoyed the charm of it. The breakfast was certainly interesting but not bad just different — Sweet waffle, Nutrigrain bar, Orange juice carton and Flavoured milk carton. Not quite Continental but enough to keep us going till late morning.

The decor is amazing, the rooms are fantastic, very easy to get to Paddington stations. There are some great restaurants nearby like Oliver's steakhouse … Do not go if you like travel lodge or premier inn. It's not that sort of place … we will be back soon.

Marmite — love it or hate it We 100% love this hotel! Your expectations are set before arriving at the hotel with pictures of the rooms etc, what you see is what you get. We stayed in the “Flower Power” room and it was perfect for us, the receptionist picked the room for us on arrival and he did amazing, he explained where we needed to go to get to the room and after 5mins in the room called to check we was happy with his recommendation! Yes yes yes! It was the room we actually wanted On arrival we was also asked if we could like a free continental breakfast, which was in front of our door for when we woke in the morning, the receptionist explained it would be basic and that it was but it gave us the sugar fix we needed. Only negatives would be that the road in front of the hotel is rather loud and the windows are old so can keep you awake if a light sleeper.
And the second negative would be that the shower is hand held so would need a quick strip wash if on the go or take a bath and relax. On a positive we never heard another guest in the hotel. Love love love this hotel and will be back to try another room Bargain price, close the tube & local shops.

Tiny, hot, crammed rooms. No A/C. No water pressure. Forced to open windows to get any air in room on hot summer days, but this let fumes in from busy street right outside, where smoke-belching buses went by every 10 minutes. Horrible tiny breakfast consisting of a cold roll and tiny coffee. Uncomfortable beds. No elevator, so you have to pull your heavy suitcase up 4-5 flights of narrow stairs. Indifferent staff.

Horrible mattress, the worst I've had in a hotel. Room was crammed with furniture, wasn't possible to move without having to move a chair or a table or something else. It's cheap for London and looking pretty, but I've had hostel rooms giving me more comfort.

Great rooms that start conversations, helpful staff and reasonable rates for the location; what’s not to like.

A hotel with an original concept and rather well located. It offers the necessary comfort and it is nice to stay there.

Love it or hate it. I loved it! Very quirky I stayed in the Flower Power room and it was a like stepping back into the 70's. Perfect location, very central lots of good restaurants and bars nearby. Very comfortable bed, fantastic customer service, Wi-Fi was fab not like some of these leading branded hotels. Will definitely stay again and would recommend it if you want a trip back in time and want something different.

Stayed there for five nights and it was a fantastic choice! I had the Harlequin room and loved the fact that despite being very small it was cozy and comfortable. The staff was always very kind and helpful as well. The Wi-Fi was perfect and the hotel is fantastically located regarding public transportation. Maybe the only detail was the shower, its pressure was not the best, but besides that it was all great. If ever going back to London (which I hope won't take me long! ) I'll be definitely staying here again. Thanks :)

Terrible is an understatement. No customer service, terrible rooms, mattress should have been replaced a long time ago, bathroom like a cross channel ferry ensuite and breakfast is thoughtless and poor. Stay away, this place should close and stop taking people's hard earned money.

I love this place. So quirky. Stayed in 3 rooms and love the highland fling room the best so far. Cheap for its location and worth more. Breakfast could do with a little sorting. But its a small niggle. X.
