Lovely food, and the bathrooms in the hotel were amazing.

Stayed one night in the Market room which is large and tastefully decorated. It has a large bathroom with bath and separate shower. A separate sitting area, bedroom and small outdoor terrace.
We had a very tasty lunch. The staff are very polite, friendly and helpful.
Would definitely stay there again.

Me and my hubby came to book tables for 17 people for my daughter s graduation and was told they couldn’t accommodate that many people staff behind bar made us fell we wasn’t good enough.

It's a really charming place where time seems to have stopped. Also the food is different from other more popular pubs. The figgy toffee pudding is incredibly soft and rich in a sort of exotic taste. The staff is wonderful.

Great hidden gem. Stayed for a long weekend. Lovely room. Staff are friendly and helpful. Just a few finishing touches for one more star. Highly recommended though. Will stay again.

Quick service with friendly staff, but was pretty much dead so lacked atmosphere. Probably because it was a Sunday. I think the majority of the crowd are either hotel guests or people who've got lost after going to the barbican. Perfectly servicable for a quiet drink though, and not over expensive.

Cozy pub with great food, a good beer selection and extremely friendly and helpful staff.

Overpriced, dark, dingy. Used this place frequently around 30 years ago and visited for "old time's sake" as I was in the area. Never again. £11 for two drinks, one of which was non alcoholic. No wonder it was empty with these prices, Young's stop being so greedy!

Been here on many occasions. Changed hands a few times but still a great place to drink. An amazing amount of different drinks available and very friendly staff. It's not the biggest pub but I love it.

Beautiful pub with decor to marvel at. Serves interesting beers and a fantastic looking menu. A shame that there wasn't a veggie option as that would have made it much better. Usually has a very calm atmosphere.

This pub should be haunted, not sure by who. It is delightful, a bit dark but wonderful, wander down to the back to see the rooms there. Staff are wonderful and look after you. A special place.

Upgrading a previous review! Came over the bank holiday weekend with the in-laws and our toddler, having been to the barbican. Staff here are very accomodating and although over crowded during the week, making the thin bar less inviting than could be, it's a popular spot for a reason! Recommend a trip during the weekend to skip the city crowd. Historic bar, good beer and excellent food options (including bar snacks).

Good spot for supper with a couple pints of beer or ale. Sunday roast was excellent, served with ample veggies, mashed turnip, potatoes, gravy, & Yorkshire pudding. 16-20£. Dessert — apple and cranberry crumble with a bit of custard on the side — was ok. About 8 different brews on tap; the Wimbledon Copper Leaf Ale was delicious and smooth. It's a cozy little place in a tight but homey way. Table that I was seated at served a sewing machine in an earlier life. Servers were commendable.

Had the City Boy breakfast, a proper English fry up with a pint and was fantastic!

Husband and I liked this pub so much we went again for dinner tonight. Another wonderful tasty meal! Would recommend to anyone. This is better than some of our restaurants back home in Australia!

My first visit — but not my last! This is a comfy pub with prompt service and excellently kept ale. I was only there for a drink with a friend, so I can't comment on the place as a whole, but it was very busy for a Sunday afternoon. That must say a lot for the attraction of the place.
