Without a doubt the worst hotel I have every stayed in.
Excusing the tired and general run down appearance of the hotel, we stayed in room 6 (a suite).
The curtains were handling off the rails and had to be closed using a coat hanger, the tiles in the kitchen had grout missing and was sharp under foot, the hotel was damp and wallpaper was hanging off, tolerable but not ideal.
A massive issue however was the noise, presumably from the cafe below. Every 40 minutes a loud noise (presumably a fridge compressor) would kick in for 3 mins. It sounded like someone using a hammer drill to bore holes in the wall. We got absolutely no sleep and were left exhausted. We complained to the staff who were able to offer us a replacement room, the mattress was so uncomfortable with wires and springs sticking through, further noises from the plumbing, extractors and smashed heater leaving the room untolerably cold, we opted to return to original room and purchase ear plugs for the second night. One of the staff members was so rude that he told us we got what we paid for and what did we expect, we had seen the reviews and knew what we were getting. I asked to be contacted by the management and am still waiting. The hotel is displaying a booking. Com rating of 8.2 from 2016 on the reception desk, when pointed out the rude member of staff told us we couldn't see that on the desk when we booked the hotel.

Absolutely Disgusting squalor you wouldn’t ask animals to stay in. Mattress ripped and stuffing appearing. Flood mark on ceiling with hole. No furniture in living room of suite, bathroom tiles cracked and filthy, excrement on toilet pan.
Had to leave couldn’t stay in it. And to top it all refused to give refund.

6 of us booked for 4 nights which included English Breakfast. We arrived Receptionist very friendly. We arrived around lunchtime so decided to eat at the Restaurant we ordered three Panini’s and three Chips all six of us had a drink, no panini arrived but a sandwich… with no explanation to why! Cost £84 we didn’t eat there again.
Had a good night sleep, looking forward to our breakfast as we had planned a busy day ahead, only to find we where eating out side of the hotel on the path, breakfast consisted of 4 croissants, four slices of ham and cheese, a little bowl of yoghurt, small jug of orange juice, 4 apples and half dozen strawberries, asked where full English was just got told we don’t do English, I then explained it is on there website! No answer was ignored. I then asked for more croissants got told we were not allowed anymore, finely 1/2 hr later got our morning tea and coffee, as you get served this from the little cart on the side of pavement and as the public orders from there too we had to wait. Day 2 all we got at our table on the pavement was four slices of ham and cheese 4 apples asked when are the croissants coming got told this is your breakfast, my sister went into the reception as this is where they serve their breakfast, to make some toast, she got told her breakfast was out side and not to have the toast! The next two morning we ate round the corner at Toast which is very nice.

One of the worst experiences. Stole my money because booked thru agoda and did not refund after cancellation. Even agoda agreed hotel is at fault. Hotel run by crooks.

What can I say about this hotel other than its literally perfect x amazing price for such a beautiful historical building in a perfect location in Westminster. the staff go above and beyond they really do, I was blown away by the service from now on every time I go to London it will be to stay here.

Crap Customer Service! No refund given I the current situation. Will never use. They avoid all phone calls, tweets, facebook messages and emails — even the director!

Terrible customer service, shady people running this place. In the light of what is going on in the country won’t refund money for a stay which will never happen. Disgusting behaviour; at a time like this making money out of people. Avoid!

Money was stolen in room and staff was ignorant on the matter.

Do not stay here! Worst hotel I’ve ever stayed in, under new management and they are running this place to the ground which is such a shame as it used to be a lovely hotel. Dirty rooms, unhelpful staff and no dinner or breakfast even though we paid for it.
Can’t say one nice thing about this place. Everyone we saw at reception was complaining and staff are so useless and say manager isnt it?! They have stolen our £25 room deposit off of us too and not paid it back. Apparently they can’t give the name of the owner so if anyone can tell me so I can contact him that would be great.

The worst ‘hotel’ I’ve ever come across… extremely rude staff, no professionalism, disgusting filthy rooms. We ended up walking out and not staying and was refused a refund. Offered another room, not a chance in hell we would of given it a thought after being shown their ‘top suite’ why would we look at another room if that one was in that disgusting state. After reading all the reviews on theft from rooms I’m so glad we walked out even if it cost us another hotel room else where.
Reported hotel to local authority.
Should be shut down.

The place is wonderful and the reception Susan is great took wonderful care and was very helpful, I would recommend the Colonnade to anyone.

Disgusting and employees are thief’s… we caught an employee in our room stealing our money… asked for the manager and he wouldn’t give us his name… asked for a refund a we could go to another hotel, they refused… done stay here ever!

Went for afternoon tea here yesterday. Upon arrival receptionist was very unhelpful and would only point us in the general direction of the tea room while appearing extremely fed up. We found our own way with little or no direction.
We waited for quite a while before any staff acknowledged or approached us. The table, chairs and floor were festooned with crumbs and there was even an amount of broken glass on the carpet.
Two of our party of 3 requested coffee in place of tea. We were told this would incur an extra charge (never experienced this before when having tea at more salubrious hotels).
The food itself was good until I found a black hair in my mouth along with the cake. The 3 in our party are all blondes so I knew we certainly weren’t responsible. When this was brought to the attention of the “senior” member of staff he simply informed us “we don’t make the cakes, they are bought in”. No offer of apology was given and my friend asked if he would be prepared to write off the charge of our coffees as a good will gesture, which he grudgingly agreed to.
Certainly would not return or recommend!

Very disappointed with our cream tea. Only ham cheese sandwiches and the cakes were not home made. Shame as a nice place and location.

I booked it and then read the reviews! God knows who is writing the bad ones as this place is beautiful! The rooms are beautiful, the staff are so helpful and although travelling for work… I will definitely be back!

Had to transfer to another hotel for one of our two nights & pay. Was promised a refund this did not happen. Calls not returned.

Very poor experience. Bedroom not cleaned, no toilet roll in my room, no milk for coffee, bar had run out of gin and staff untrained and flustered.

I booked the Colonnade Hotel for my wedding party this August (2018). My husband and I stayed in the Honeymoon suite which was lovely however our stay was ruined after we realised a number of our belongings, including wedding gifts, went missing. We contacted the hotel to launch an investigation and after calling every day for around 3 weeks and leaving messages for the manager, no one has ever bothered to respond to us. It's hugely disappointing (especially for a 4 star hotel) and has tainted the whole experience for us. Unfortunately for these reasons I can't recommend the hotel to anyone.

A Heritage site hotel which has kept all it's features, lovely, quaint and quiet, friendly staff and nice restaurant.

If you want to stay with them please think again. If there is less than one star I would definitely give it to them and for Priceline. After I made my reservation with them through Priceline. They told me that they are not working with Priceline. Called Priceline and they told that I can stay with them but I need to pay more as the hotel not accepting the price that Priceline gave to me. Priceline refused to refund what I payed. I called this hotel more than 20 times and every time I call they would tell me call after 30 minuets. The employees are so rude and they need to learn how to speak respectfully with people.

Great hotel! Room was clean and satisfactory. Xautiin if you are disabled. There is a lift but you may still have to use stairs. The location of this hotel is great One stop from Paddington. We enjoyed our stay.

Unfortunately, the hotel "The Colonnade" has earned a maximum of two stars (instead of as in the description four). My room was on the ground floor (with a view of the basement shaft), so that the sound of the departing subways could be heard all the time. The breakfast buffet is ridiculous. Sometimes there wasn't even sausage and cheese (let alone bread rolls or anything else). The staff is very unmotivated, except for the reception. Often in the evening parties with a large background noise take place. I'm not going to book the hotel again.

This hotel has great potential but was a huge disappointment — very tired furnishings in the lobby with soiled chairs and holes in the covers. The corridor smelt unpleasant and the lift smelt disgusting. The deluxe room was adequate but one bedside lamp was not working and the USB points were not working. The safe was positioned so high it was nearly impossible to reach. Breakfast room service — ordered scrambled eggs and fried eggs arrived and the order notice was put outside the door in the evening of the last day there was no breakfast the next morning. There were no adaptor plugs available. Great location. But value for money — no way!

Terrible stay. Blood on the mattress, dirty bathroom, overall very dirty. Extremely tatty and not at all like the pictures on the website.

Would I stay here again? No! This is my second stay within 2 months at the Colonnade and this time is no better than the first. I made the mistake of booking the 2 stays by paying in advance through booking with the hotel directly. It’s stretching the truth significantly to claim this is a 4 star hotel. It should be placed somewhere between 2 and 3. Closer to 2 in fact. It’s hard to think of a positive comment to make. Check in is a cold non smiling experience. The morning welcomes from reception staff are just the same. They know they have to wish you a good day but it certainly doesn’t sound as though it’s meant. Lounges and settees in the reception area are filthy and torn. Our room (6) was dilapidated. Carpets are worn, leather chairs have splits in the leather, curtains in our room have rotted and have split linings, cupboard latches are broken and not repaired, paintwork through the hotel is dirty and needs a good clean. I wonder when the carpets last had a shampoo. Breakfast was very disappointing. I see this has been covered in other reviews. Hot water runs out by 7.30 so get in early for a morning shower. As a regular visitor to London this would have been the worst hotel I’ve experienced. And I won’t be back. This hotel needs a total makeover.

We got a free upgrade on our room which was great! Very clean, air con was good, was nice to have a working TV, view beautiful. Breakfast was meh and the hotel room floor was a bit stained (clean but had marks on it). Would stay again.

Nice hotel. Although some work needs doing to it, some parts are showing their age. The check in procedure involves taking a seat and having a chat… Didn't like that. The lift as well… I'm sure it's safe. But it's that old it's scary.

For the price this hotel was better than expected. Booked last minute, and was given a large room. Nice staff and great location. Lots of history in the hotel and a very interesting elevator which my wife was terrified of :)

In the reception, two women who alternated were both unfriendly and arrogant. They wanted, although we had previously paid for 3 nights €320 for the hotel, £75 deposit. This is uncommon in advance payment worldwide. Check in was not until 2pm, although the room was ready when we arrived. Very inhospitable! The bathroom was very old and moldy, the rubber strips to the insulation hung on the bathtub broken over the tub. Therefore the bathroom was always underwater! No toilet brush. The curtains hung old and broken only in some hooks. In the hallway there were food leftovers from guests from the rooms, which were not cleared for 2 days and were disgusting to be seen. The elevator a nightmare. The carpets in the room abgeranzt. Through the window cracks the wind whistled. Windows in spite of city simply glazed. The breakfast was good. A man in the front desk was friendly when checking out. All in all an imposition and at most a 1-2 star hotel. Price, performance and friendliness are wide apart. A renovation would be imperative and a coach for the ladies at the reception.

Atrocious experience with this hotel manager during the booking process. 1) Groupon advertised rate 70GBP which I paid. I then called the hotel to say that i'd like to book a Sunday night stay which I had paid for. He said there was no availability and it would cost 30 more for an upgrade and 60 more to change the day! I couldn't believe it — price has changed from 70 160 in a matter of hours — over double the price! (This was also different to what he had told me during a brief conversation with the hotel earlier in the morning where I was told they'd have to get a manager to sort it out! Internal communication amongst staff obviously non existent! ) 2) I called in the morning to try and sort booking a room and then guy called me back at 1750 — not the best customer experience here to say the least, waiting all day for an urgent booking 3) He then kept interrupting me throughout the call so I couldn't clarify all of the issues — very rude throughout the call. Unsure why he works in customer service — made me irate! 4) He said "Speak to GroupOn and I will too" and then hung up Needless to say i'll be cancelling the booking, total waste of time.

Not good. Great location in one of the nicest parts of London and I’m sure it was nice in the 1990s but it’s in serious need of a refurb. The rooms are tatty and tired with wires everywhere the and bathrooms in serious need of updating (mine smelt). All the repairs since the last refurb seem to have been botched. It's literally 60 seconds walk from Warwick Avenue tube station, but if you’re on the lower ground floor you get a rumble from the Bakerloo Line that runs under the hotel (my bedside table lamp actually shook when this happened). The restaurant only serves food laden with garlic (there was other stuff on the menu but I was told it was not available to order — exotic stuff like sandwiches, cod and chips, etc. ). There is a really cool suit of armour in reception (no idea why but if you're into all that give it a try). Now wondering why I gave it two stars not one …

Had bought a groupon for afternoon tea from their site. Misleading info from groupon 're location (was more Little Venice than Mayfair) restaurant NOT like photo. Disappointing afternoon tea. Seemed surprised when we requested more tea (teabags not leaf tea) … sandwiches dry. Cakes nothing special. Wasn't the cheaper end for afternoon tea either!

Beautiful to look at however, room and facilities were not worth the asking price. Complicated room service and mixed messages throughout our stay. False advertising for complementary breakfast.

I stayed I a standard room, it was comfortable, clean and pleasant. Much better than a budget hotel, but certainly not top end luxury.

Very nice venue, outstanding service. The cuisine is good, I was hoping for something slightly finer or more sophisticated. There is no way you leaves the table hungry. Great value.

Got an offer off groupon, but on arrival had to pay £30 on top of that, no idea why. Room was dreadful for what we paid. Hair dryer didn't work, heating switch was broken so it was constantly boiling in this sweat box. Female staff were rude and unwelcoming. (There was one male member of staff who was probably the only decent one) as we were leaving there were 4 guests who said they didn't want to stay there and didn't even check in. Good location but so overrated for what you pay for.

The hotel itself looked very nice on the face of it but the service and attitude from the staff was absolutely horrific. There were no towels in the room when I got in there and no answer on the reception phone so I went down to the lobby only to be spoken to rudely and no notice taken by the manager. I asked to speak to the manager about my experience upon checkout to offer feedback and he was unreceptive and very arrogant and unhelpful. I certainly will not be recommending this hotel to anyone whilst he is there!

Pleasant hotel, nice feel and rooms. Avoid the downstairs if you can as you get a rumble from the bakerloo line underneath, but otherwise a nice place in little Venice about 10 mins walk from Paddington.

I bought a voucher via Groupon and chose a room for £139 during a week period in December. I called the hotel and asked to make the booking for the 27th. The guy on the phone couldn't do it for some reason and asked me to email them the voucher so they can make the booking. He said a room is available on the date. So I sent an email with the voucher just so I can get an email back that a classic room was not available and that we need to upgrade to a "better room" for extra £30! Not only that. My friend called and asked if he can book a room directly with the hotel and the same woman that emailed me that they don't have a room was very happy to tell him that they have a classic room available on the 27th and it was £108 including breakfast! Not only that they tried to con us and make us pay extra £30, but the same room was available on the same date and for way less than with the deal on Groupon! I took the phone off my friend once she said that and spoke to the woman and she was stuttering, apparently there was a problem with their system and she gave wrong information to my friend! I am very disappointed and wouldnt recommend to anyone. Wouldn't even gI've a star but had to! What a shame!

Better than the Park Grand hotels close by. Interior a little old but charming. I would call the elevator quite an adventure. Rooms okay, enough space. Floors a bit noisy. Solid restaurant with bar in the basement. Overall good value for Paddington.

Booked a 'bottomless prosecco brunch deal' — 6 people in the party. No disabled access so lucky everyone could get down the stairs to the basement where the bar area was — would have been a nightmare on a wet day as staircase open to the elements and made of slate type material. I don't call 3 bottles of prosecco between 6 people over 1 1/2 hours an 'unlimited' deal! Had to ask repeatedly for top ups, had to ask for the toast that was part of the full English breakfast description. Had to ask for tea. Had said we would wait a little while for dessert as they were clearing away our main course plates — nearly 45 minutes later we had to remind them we'd not had dessert. We ordered another pot of tea for someone — 30 minutes later we cancelled that as we were planning on getting a taxi back to the station. We had to ask after another 30 minutes where our taxi was. Then we were told it would be less than 5 minutes so we went up to wait for it — and had to ask yet again. I was so embarrassed that I'd booked this venue for friends who had come from the south coast. I certainly won't be back and will not recommend them even on a 'deal' I don't actually think it was worth the price we paid (£108) let alone what the listed price was (over £250)

Despite having room available before 2pm, they wanted to charge me £40 to check in early. No wonder there are so many discounted rooms on hotels tonight. No customer service skills demonstrated by staff.

Located in Maida Vale, this hotel is probably the best in the area, with a persian restaurant located at the ground floor.

We recently had afternoon tea at the hotel. We all really enjoyed it and the service was fantastic. The actual afternoon tea itself was fab too — lots of choice and plenty for everyone.

It's a reasonable hotel, but not much more than that. The room appears old and in much need of maintenance, the furniture, carpets and drapes desperately need to be replaced. The bathroom was a bit larger than expected, but there was no ventilation so it stays humid all the time. Our room was on the ground floor and you can hear the metro going underground, not hard, but notticeble. The check-in was a bit chaotic, since there's a relatively small desk and room to wait. Unfortunately a lot of people wanted to check-in on the same time and that's when you notice the room just isn't big enough. We had breakfast in our room and it was ok, nothing special. Location is fine and very near Warwick Station (metro). Late check-out was possible, although until 12.00pm was free and after that you had to pay 20 pounds for every additional hour, which I found a bit expensive.

Hotel was charming. Creaky staircase & vintage lift added to the experience for us. Room (junior suite) was lovely & clean although TV dominates room, placed in the centre. Staff very obliging and pleasant when we ordered off menu for room service. Unfortunately breakfast (included in our rate) was a let down in terms of quality of food. Would have been outraged if we had been paying the price on the menu. Considered overall, unfortunately do not think this offers great value for money.

On arrival we asked if we could check in a little earlier as we wanted to change before our matinee in London. Staff stated they would make our room a priority. Returning later in the afternoon he were told we still couldn't check in so we couldn't get changed for the theatre. We returned after the show to get changed for dinner instead. On entering the room first appearances were nice. However we were on top floor and closer inspection proved more TLC was needed. Our window wouldn't shut completely so we had a draft all night by the bed. There was a pubic hair in the bath tub. The shower had no pressure and the shower head was positioned at a silly angle. We looked in the mini bar and found used bottled of drink by previous occupants. We didn't find the tea making facilities until 5 minutes before we had to leave — who would look in the bedside cabinet which is on the other side of the room from the fridge and glasses? Lol We had a continental breakfast as part of our deal. All I can say is it was a complete shambles! Breakfast served between 7:30 and 10. We arrived at 9:25. The breakfast consisted of cereal, yoghurt, ham, cheese and croissants (but there were none so we had to ask the waitress) she brought out about 15, which you can imagine disappeared in seconds. We had to get a waitress attention to get our tea and coffee and we had to stir it with a dessert spoon! It was havoc. Unfortunately we left hungry so had to get a mcdonalds in London after leaving the hotel.

Was quiet on a Sunday night. Was expecting small portions, but the Persian based good came in portions that were too big for either of us to finish, with a nice crisp salad.

Good location for exploring little Venice, and a short walk from BBC Maida Vale studios. Rooms well appointed and comfortable.

This is a charming traditional London hotel. The location is very handy and is easy to find from the tube. It feels like a country house, which I found cosy but some may find it a bit dated. The front desk staff were exceptionally keen and friendly. My room was just off the main lobby so it was a little noisy at times, but overall it was a nice atmosphere. The room was old-fashioned but comfortable. I would return.

Really nice service with a comfortable rooms in a quiet and a well comunicated neighborhoud, the underground is really close, less than 3 min walking from the hotel, the rooms are smal but comfy and the staff are kind and allways willing to help!

I was guest on January 7th Very good hotel, great welcome, friendly staff, room with barhroom ok. Good english breakfast, safe return.

Not great. Good location, but, upon arrival the elevator was broken and being on the top floor (90 steps) our days were worked around going up and down stairs. Then they double charged me for the room and treated me as if it were my fault and i'm too stupid to understand my own card statement. Until it got sorted and a refund was issued, there was no admission that they MIGHT have made a mistake. Between this and the snobby staff and crap towels, save your money and go elsewhere.

Redicoulously Small rooms. We got a room which was actually in the basement (under ground level). The size of the room was totally miniature. We got the room through PriceLine so we were expecting a normal room (usually I even get upgraded through PriceLine). The elevator was not working. We ordered a wakeup call which never arrived. We asked them to help us with a taxi to the coach to airport — the 4 minute ride costed 30$. Had they asked us — we would say we just want a regular black London cab, for which the pricing would be about 8$. Just don't go there. In case you win it through PricLine or Hotwire — just ask to replace hotel.

Went for afternoon tea on a Groupon deal and was generally very happy with the deal. We had a nice afternoon slot, the food was tasty and there was enough of it, and the champagne was lovely too. The afternoon tea was served in a room which is in the basement, so I wouldn't recommend it on a sunny day, as you do feel down in the dungeons a bit, but having said that its still a nice room. Very easily accessible from Warwick avenue tube.

The Colonnade is just a stones throw from Warwick Avenue underground station so it’s really easy to get to but the hotel itself wasn’t that easy to find as the only sign showing the hotels name was on the side of the building which couldn’t be seen until you were round the corner. It’s a beautiful old building which actually started as two Victorian residences before being combined into one. The decor is very traditional and a little fussy for my tastes but is perfect for those looking for that authentic atmosphere. I’ll be honest, I’m not entirely sure if the champagne was really champagne or if it was prosecco but it was light and refreshing nonetheless. The tea on the other hand was a disappointment. Sure it came in a pot big enough for three large cups of tea but it was made with a teabag rather than loose leaf which isn’t good enough for a tradition such as afternoon tea. Our tier arrived and upon first glance I was impressed – three different kinds of sandwiches; ham and cheese, cucumber and cream cheese and egg mayonnaise. Pretty standard fare. There was only one scone each which according to the menu should have been plain but mine had at least one raisin in it so who knows which kind it actually was meant to be and a selection of sweet treats which I was happy to see came in pairs. None of this sharing malarkey this time round. The scone was OK but the delicious strawberry jam by Wilkin & Sons Ltd that came with it more than made up for its averageness.

Rude and lazy staff, unreliable service, terrible value for money, My parents came to visit us in London, and stayed in the "flat", since they were there for over a week and wanted self catering. The flat was advertised as luxurious and the pictures posted were beautiful. In reality the flat was shabby. Colour peeling off the walls, broken tiles, worn furniture, leaking taps, and dirty dishes in the kitchen cupboards. The flat is spread over 3 floors, with 4 sets of very steep stairs. NOT mentioned anywhere in the descriptions. Cleaning was supposed to happen every day. We had to call housekeeping 4 times and ask them to send cleaners. Since the kitchen table had horrible stains, we bought a lovely colourful tablecloth to put on it, which the cleaning staff then proceeded to bleach, and destroy! We were promised compensation by the very rude hotel receptionist. Needless to say that never happened. Will never stay there again.

We stayed at The Colonnade this past week on a short trip to London prior to leaving the UK for home. We stayed on the 4th floor for a two night stay. The hotel itself is well situated to the Bakerloo line (the Warwick station is visible from the front door of the hotel), and is a bit of a hike to Paddington (about 15 to 20 minutes) but do-able. The building itself is old with lots of original charm. Parts of it are in dire need of updating, but our room had a comfortable bed and linens, as well as a desk and small office space. This where we ran into trouble: on the last day of our stay we left our room around lunchtime, and came back around dinner time to discover that our room had been accessed and we had been robbed. They took my laptop from the desk along with a host of other items that they stole from suitcases and backpacks. They picked us clean. The police were called and said that the room had been accessed via the key lock (i. E. Someone had a key to our room). The management of the hotel has proven very uncooperative with bringing closure to this situation or any information at all. Along with our electronics, they took all of our photos, a backup hard drive with all of our schoolwork, etc. Based on this experience I would never stay in this hotel again, and would not recommend it to others based on personal safety reasons.
