I’ve never stayed here but love the restaurant/bar/afternoon tea served here. Really impressively designed interiors with an ‘Oriental’ theme. There are Japanese and Chinese touches everywhere from the lacquer. Black and gold bar, to afternoon tea served in bento boxes. The little touches at the hotel are what make it unique. Staff are friendly and helpful. There is still the distinctive Blakes hotel smell in the lobby/reception but it’s not as strong as it used to be. I miss it. Gorgeous relaxing and uplifting grapefruit and other citrus. Really needs bringing back. Didn’t hear the lovebirds on my last visit. Blakes is a little sanctuary in the area.

Rooms in this boutique hotel are all individually designed in a chic romantic decor. Night club in basement is intimate and stylish. Staff are super efficient and friendly. The restaurant has a romantic feel.

For my 16th birthday I was taken to the Blake’s and it was the most amazing experience I have ever had, the food was absolutely amazing and the way they treat you was outstanding, every staff member makes you feel so welcomed and I would really recommend going it’s fantastic!

The hotel is legendary, one of the most characterful in London. The staff is lovely, the restaurant is amazing. I just wished the DJ understood the difference between a lounge and a night club. I don't particularly feel like I'm raving in Ibiza when I'm sitting down having a catch up with a friend in a cosy bar...therw is music for everyone place and time!

Shocking stay, awful room and food experience, rude staff and overall a very bad stay. Although this hotel had been highly reviewed everything about this stay was disappointing. The first room the amenities were not working and after three visits from the front desk and a tech hand, the issues were not fixed plus the discovery the door to the room didn’t lock. Only when the issue was raised to a complaint was there feedback that there were no other rooms. When asked what other solution they could offer the front desk went to the Manager (the Manager would not come out of his office) and there was an offer of another room where the shower door didn’t close. Although things worked in the new room, it was ultimately very tired, the floor in a particularly disgusting state. Then breakfast in the morning arrived without tea, coffee, OJ, butter, napkins etc. The food was inedible and old with the manager agreeing that he himself would not accept this standard after having to return it directly to the front desk as the issues were not taken seriously over the phone. All in all an awful stay and would not recommend this hotel.

The restaurant in the hotel was immensely disappointing. None of the wait staff had any idea what was going on, what was in their food, we had to ask repeatedly for anything, even paying the bill. Shouldn’t have paid the service charge because frankly there was no service, and it’s not like the food was so good it made up for it. Food average and service way below average. Not coming back.

Not recommendable, very small rooms, unfriendly staff, decor rather on the dark side, plus they should think about renovating. Staff was not able to process a name change of the guests (us) correctly, so we ended up checking out after one day instead of two, with the money prepaid and non-refundable and therefore lost. All in all a very bad experience!

Booked the restaurant for a bday treat for 4 via top table. When I asked for the promotion menu the attitude changed.
Don’t advertise a set menu if you don’t want to serve it. … Staff went on the missing list weren’t offered a drink and after 15 minutes had to ask if we could order as we wented to toast the bday girl… The waiter couldn’t remember our order and he wrote it down.
The food arrived and he forgot who was having what — in a restaurant that had only 4 other tables to contend with. When we left we had to go find out own coats — absolutely awful experience and I wish I hadn’t suggested Blake’s for the bday celebrations.

Anouska Hempel’s exquisite sense of style is something I first experienced at my stay in The Hempel many years ago......great memories! I only discovered Blake’s very recently and dined there with a few friend’s. The Grilled Dover Sole was cooked to perfection and the Ferrero Rocher chocolate mousse is definitely worth a try. I look forward to going back for lunch in the new year.

I can resum the night with three words, amazing and perfect. I came recommend by Mikey, the front of house Manager, to have a lovely dinner. But it was more than that. Especially Martha's service, she's amazing and she was very detalied with the service. Never forggeting the service in general by the waiters. Thanks to all of the team for the attention. Also for the doorman, with that big smile to say goodbye. My family and I, are really thankfull for this night!

I would like to have sat outside but it was too busy and they didn't bother telling me when 6 people left within 20 minutes of my arrival — it was then basically empty in the garden all evening. More importantly perhaps, I'm also somewhat outraged that the bar man thought it was appropriate to hit on my client who was taking me out for a drink to say thanks… that's just totally inappropriate.

We went to the Blakes hotel restaurant last Saturday night without a reservation. We were greeted warmly then treated with delicious food and excellent service! Simone was our waiter and he served us brilliantly while regularly coming over to check that everything was okay during our meal — which it always was. Marta is one of the managers there and was excellently attentive while also ensuring that our experience was formidable. Classy, sophisticated, delicious with impeccable standards and service!

If you're looking for a unique and cozy hotel with top tier service — you've found the hotel. My wife and I had flown to London on a red eye; by the time we got to the hotel we were exhausted. However we were quickly rejuvenated by the friendly hotel staff, the great food in their restaurant and a quick nap in the super comfortable beds. The hotel is also very close to a tube stop which made it convenient. We will definitely return to this gem on our next trip to London!

Came to this hotel for an afternoon tea with the girls and it was disappointing. My friend pointed out that "Now we know what an afternoon tea is like outside zone 1", which was quite funny, although of course I have been to a few afternoon teas inside zone 1 which are also not as good, but this one is at bottom place at the moment for service. We booked the afternoon tea slot between 3-5pm. My friends arrived at 2:30 and I arrived at 3:10. They were downstairs in the Chinese room bar having a drink and then my friend went upstairs at 3:30pm to check on the table. She never came back downstairs so we went up after her! She was waiting for news on when our table would be ready. The problem was no-one seemed to know. The first person she asked got another person, who also got another, and none of them were the wiser. In the end we got our table a whole hour late because they did not shoo away the customers before us. We were led to sit down at the table which was not even properly cleared as there was a lonely champagne glass sitting on the table. The table was far too small to fit the paraphernalia that comes with high tea, the waiter was pretty inexperienced or just plain bad because between the 4 of us we ordered 3 teas, he got 1 tea order wrong, after 15 minutes of waiting time. When he poured water from a jug all the ice fell into the glass, really? It was just bad and slow service throughout.

Me and my partner usually go to The Soho Hotel which we love. We decided on a new location, We love South Kensington area so we chose Blakes. (Big mistake). We upgraded to a luxury room but it was a huge (expensive) disappointment. The room was really dark and cold looking. Nowhere to put your suitcases and tiny wardrobe/ tiny bath also. On arrival, as per requested a bottle of champagne and chocolates should of been ready for us as we entered, instead I had to ask for it to be sent 3 times. When asking the first time the receptionist told me nothing was requested, but when I checked my confirmation email IT WAS! The chocolates weren't even presented nicely, just a plain bar of chocolate I could of bought from Tesco! Whats the point? Service is extremely slow. When ordering our room service (breakfast) I asked for salmon instead of bacon for my Eggs Benedict, yet I received ham?. What a joke. Half the staff do not even speak proper english — its hard to even complain! When we dined in the restaurant, it was empty and cold. They played horrible banging trance music (not good) with only 2 tables, the food was slow to come out. We ordered chicken curry and sent it back as it was just chicken soup with rice (we requested more chicken, the round round we had 4 tiny bits of chicken) — I had the sea bass. This I didn't mind but it was rather lonely on my plate, small and over priced.

We went to this restaurant on a Monday night so it was very quiet. Pre dinner drinks snacks were unique. The battered seaweed was crunchy and tasty. We chose the surprise menu, where you select one ingredient for each course and the chef decide the rest. I chose caviar for starter and seabass for main. Caviar came out on some pasta, which didn't impress me much. Seabass was served on beetroot. I'm not sure if they go together.
