Good price, good location and a comfortable bed. Breakfast was not all that. Always sounded like someone was moving furniture around in the room above. Shower not great. But its a cheap place to get your head down in London.

Very nice Hotel, it's clean and comfortable, the staff is really nice. Breakfast has a lot to offer, tastes great.

The location is very good. The hotel is warm. Super comfortable room. Good beds, bathroom too small. The staff was very friendly and helpful. We spent a beautiful few days.

First impression 1star, bud final 4.5star. Avg. 4star. Small room small rest room. Because this is price. Good location, good traffic. So final 4star. ^^

Cheap and good service. The private bathroom in the room was much smaller than expected. The shower was practically useless I owe the limited space.

Excellent budget hotel in a superb location. The rooms are dated but very clean and the beds are super comfy. The bathrooms were clean and convenient enough considering ours was shared. The staff were incredibly friendly. The breakfast was top quality and set us up perfectly for a day out and about. I genuinely think this hotel is very good and will stay again.

Location is great. Is very central. Breakfast is good. Hotel is clean but just old. If you don't want a luxury person, and want to live centrally, you've come to the right place.

Not suitable for families… The bathrooms are very small and dirty… Were drawn into the rooms. Sink and shower vase are practically placed between them… You're also struggling to close the door. Dust everywhere. Some rooms are deprived of bathroom you have to go to the one shared with other rooms. Some rooms overlook the other courtyard on the street (in the last Impossible quest to sleep)! You always feel a strange smell in the hotel… The rooms on the top floor are very hot and there is no way to refresh them. Breakfast is done in a room in the basement… from sweet to salty… Even here cleanliness is not the best. The photos on the site do not correspond to reality. I do not recommend this place… there are other better ones in the area.

I stayed in the Hotel a few months ago for a Business trip. To sum it up; one of the worst Hotels I have ever been in! My room was a small room next to a garden/outside area. Furniture had not been cleaned for days/weeks/months. Thick layer of dust on the cupboard and generally a dirty feel to it. The door to the garden was permanently locked but rotten at the bottom. Around midnight when going to a bathroom I discovered a small insect running outside via de rotten part of the door. I then decided to check out and take another Hotel in the area. To sum it up… avoid!

Put that had a bathroom in the room but then in the reservation of Booking that is shared. We called the hotel and Booking but since the hotel they say that as we have claimed they do not want to do anything x to help us. Very bad service.

Like a hostel. Not bad breakfast. Shared bathroom yuck noisy at night roasting at night no air. Booked 2 nights moving out for second night. Not for us. Cheap and that's it.

The rooms are too small despite several choices. The shower and toilet compartment are ridiculously tiny. Constant noise from the radiator. Simple Breakfast.

It was nice and clean with friendly staff. The ensuite was little and water took a while to get hot and was sparse. But for value for money and location it was ideal. I would visit again.

You will regret making their "free cancellation" and "No prepayment" reservation. Beware. They run a bait and. Switch. And cancellations are really 100% of reservation. A heartless company exploiting would be guests.

Simple but nice place, within walking distance of the British Museum and important avenues, good breakfast and friendly attention. Acceptable, comfortable-sized rooms.

We stayed there for a week and it was perfect even the breakfast. I recomanded.

Best of all is its location, practically in central London (Zone 1). The only uncomfortable thing but that is known from the start is the bathroom which is shared.

Good place, helpful friendly staff and fantastic location. Breakfast is good and rooms are clean. Only downside is the Ron's need a little refurbishment I. E paint, carpets etc but other than that rooms are spacious, clean and beds are comfortable. Have stayed before and would stay again. Thanks.

One of the worst hotels I've ever stayed in. (Including Preston motorway travel lodge. ) Weird Russian doss-house. Good if you like having staff be rude to you/ignore you/ask if you speak Russian the ignore you. Avoid.

Cheap around 40 a night, apart from the brekky the place was abit grim. Smelt funny 2 toilets for the hotel, only pros are price and location.

For the love of God please renew the hotel. Location is excellent but rooms are very gloomy, uncomfortable and very dirty.

Hotel is on the nice place, in the middle of everything. It needs to be cleaner. Man on the reception Rakesh is kined, friendly and helpfull. Because of that and good location I would come back again.

I really enjoyed my stay… the room was near had everything you need… the weather was so hot m. They had already set up A/c for us coming in… and the Breakfast was Beautiful, it has everything from a fry up to fresh fruit, cereal, yoghurts, juices, tea … It was an excellent start to my day. We stayed in a family room for a four night stay. My husband booked the accommodation and having read the reviews, I was expecting the worst. However, following our 15 minute walk from Kings Cross Station I was very pleasantly surprised. The area is very quiet and pleasant, it is mainly student accommodation with medical teaching establishments in the area. There are 3 tube stations and all the required amenities within walking distance. The staff were friendly and welcoming. The room (Rm3) was fine and had everything we needed including a fridge which given the very hot weather was very welcomed for keeping drinks in. We had a very compact en-suite, 3 comfy beds a table and some chairs. We were at the back of the guest house so we were able to have the window open all the time without it being noisy. The breakfast was plentiful and wide ranging in what was offered. It was very central and all the tourist attractions were within easy reach, be it walking or tube. We could not have chosen such well situation accommodation for the price and I felt safe walking there late at night alone with my daughter. I have not given 5 stars as there were a couple of negatives which on balance with the situation of the hotel are small negatives. The en-suite was very compact and the water pressure in the shower was awful — after four days of walking in very hot weather I needed a proper shower.

Just horrible. Completely outdated, defunct and dirty. Everything rusted in the bathroom, no pressure on the shower… just came a few drops… Temperature adjustment is hardly possible. The first room I was offered was a naughty one. Claustrophobic states. Unfortunately, the other room was not much better either.

Good location, nice room, bathroom ensuite was tiny and had a missing toilet button but generally the facilities are as you'd expect for the area. Shared bathrooms are larger and kept clean. The breakfast was surprisingly good with scrambled eggs, sausages, bacon, tomato, fruits, juices, and cereals.

The photos that advertise this "hotel" do not match the reality, bathroom in the room including shower smaller than that of a train, poor cleaning, operation of the Wi-Fi discontinuous, bad breakfast.

Three nights in this beautiful Hotel within walking distance of downtown, honest prices, friendly staff, and great breakfast! Recommended!

Very friendly staff, very accommodating. I stayed a couple of days and found it to be quiet and very peaceful. Common room and breakfast downstairs every morning with wonderful cooks. Pretty much a no frills place, but that's what I was after, and at a very reasonable rate as well. Next time I am in London I would not hesitate to stay there.

In every film set in London I find your building, your front door, your street. Friendly, kind and helpful, room as per description, familiar the room where you consume your exquisite breakfasts.

Abstract: Londoners standards are far lower than ours!
The hotel is in an excellent position, very central and 2 distance from the British Museum, with at least 4 metro stops within 10 minutes walk. The hotel experience, though, was not the best. The room is quite old although the bed is big and comfy. The bathroom is extremely small and most basic movements were difficult, the soaps are just the ones in wall dispensers placed near the sink and in the shower, so bring your bathing soaps home. Upon our arrival the toilet was blocked. The front desk a little handyman to fix the problem and in a half hour (thankfully) was resolved. We then requested additional cleaning the bathroom, given the extraordinary intervention, but was not made. The bathroom also was not cleaned even the next morning! On the second day, then, the towels there were only provided 3 … facials.
In return, the breakfast is good and plenty: you can choose from the traditional English (eggs, bacon, sausage and beans) to that sweet more nostrana.

The only winning factor for this hotel is the location. It is so close to central London and quite cheap. The staff were not unfriendly but quite unhelpful. I was on the top floor and with no elevators, I had a full arm workout getting my bag to my room. The room was clean-ish with a tiny bathroom — I had a mouse running around for most of my stay. The views from the window were beautiful. I made my way down to the breakfast room one morning, but it was so crowded that I didn't stop for breakfast.

Back to the 70s… room 18 was very noisy and dirty. Lighting was also medieval. Breakfast comprised very runny scrambled egg and lukewarm coffee.

People are respected, but things aren't! A bit dirty for a hotel.

Booked via expedia with instructions to pay on arrival only to find the hotel decided to cancel my booking without any communication. Can only assume they got a walk in which made them more money. The manager didn't even have the manners to apologise but to be honest it looked like a dump anyway so maybe I was lucky!

We were a bit disappointed by the bedroom we got. Underground bedroom 29, we opened the door and we entered the bathroom (weird), then we reached the first bedroom, with no window. The get in the second bedroom we have to go thru the first bedroom. Second bedroom with a window on a blind inner courtyard with a fantastic view on the kitchen. We needed to keep the dark curtain closed at all time to have a bit of intimacy. The room was very noisy on the morning (water going down the drain from flush and showers and noise from the nearby kitchen) Not worth the 105£ per night we paid. Despite these inconveniences, the bedroom was very clean and the beds very conformable. Furthermore, the breakfast was great, a lot of various good stuff. The receptionist very welcoming, polite and helpful. If you have to stay in Arran House hotel, avoid absolutely the basement room 29.

Urgh, the most disgusting hotel I've been to. From the sleazy host to the dismally unhygienic and ridiculous bathroom this place was a disaster. Avoid it at all costs.

We've actually just got to our double 'ensuite' room — we are cramped into the top corner of the hotel and the 'ensuite' is literally a port-a-potty fitted into the room. We can shower and use the toilet at the same time. I recognise it's London prices but at £110 a night it's a bit of a joke — certainly not like any 3 star hotel. Hotel staff are nice and pleasant but the hotel needs a revamp.

This is my first trip to London and I didn't know what to expect regarding hotels. I'm glad I trusted the reviews on this site. Today is 9/2/09 and I had one of the tastiest breakfasts I've had in Europe — cured ham (? ) sausage, scrambled egg, sauteed mushrooms, and fresh oatmeal with tea. The reviews did not disappoint — this place may not be the newest but it is very well-kept, clean, and serviceable. There is no central AC as far as I could tell, so my room was a bit stuffy but I opened the window and turned on the ceiling fan and it was fine. It was nice to feel the breeze. Rooms are small and they are currently under construction, but the friendly staff, old-style charm of the rooms, and delicious breakfast make this place a really good value for the money. Beds are small but comfortable. Super clean/modern bathrooms (even shared ones) really set this place apart from others. I definitely recommend this place, and am glad I will be returning to stay here after I travel to other parts of the UK.

I stayed in the Arran House Hotel for nine glorious weeks. For an incredible price I had an ensuite room, with Wi-Fi internet access for free, an enormous inclusive breakfast, wonderful linen, great, great staff and the hotel was spotlessly clean. All this at a fabulous location in Bloomsbury. My only advise would be to book early if you want to stay here.
