Very warm welcome from the time we arrived and the owners couldn’t be more helpful. Nothing was to much trouble.

Lovely place! We only stayed for one night but couldn't be happier with the service and the room we stayed in. The location is perfect for walking to all major sights, the room was very clean and the bed super comfy. The staff was very nice and friendly, we'll definitely be back. Also, the breakfast was delicious and the portions were really generous. Thank you.

An oasis in central London!
We are regular Windermere Hotel customers since 2012, as there we get first class service and accommodation. The hotel is owned and run by the Hambi family who are on the scene daily, keeping the customers under their personal care. Also, they modernise the hotel all the time – on this occasion our room (No 15) had its bathroom modernised. Besides, the room was in top-notch decorative order, was spacious and very clean; was very well equipped and featured quality furniture and linen; had an excellent bed mattress that was conducive to a good night’s sleep; had effective heating throughout the day and night; everything in it was fully functional. Other hotel pluses are a free (and effective) Wi-Fi Internet connection everywhere, a lift to all floors and its strategic location (it is within walking distance from the Victoria Coach Station, the Victoria Train/ Tube Station and lots of important London monuments). Breakfast was first class (a variety of quality, fresh and tasty stuff was offered), the waiters were helpful, courteous and helpful and there was the “Pimlico Grid” brasserie and bar (another innovation) offering breakfast, brunch and dinner. Yet again, the Windermere Hotel has upheld and enhanced its excellent reputation. We will be back again!

We just returned home from an 8 night stay at this lovely hotel! From the moment we arrived, we felt completely welcome. We were checked in by Emily, who gave us fantastic directions and ensured that our luggage would arrive in our room once available. All of the staff was so friendly and went above and beyond. We frequented the downstairs restaurant/bar, which had recently been redesigned to The Pimlico Grid. We had dinner on two occasions and just drinks the rest of the time we were there. The service and food was incredible. We will certainly choose The Windermere the next time we are in London!

Not often if at all I give 5* review but we had a lovely stay with great breakfast lovely corner room and very friendly staff who even took case 3 hours before book in and kept it safe for us and did the same on check out so we could enjoy london and pick it up on or way home. will definatly stay again.

I can’t recommend this hotel for a couple of reasons. First, one of the night staff members (from Bulgaria? ) got snotty with my girlfriend when she went down to ask for extra bath towels, she said he was questioning her why she needed them and rolling eyes and everything. I offered to go talk with him but she begged me not to go start anything. Secondly, someone definitely opened our bags. I had mine closed a very specific way with a carabiner and when we returned it was closed but no longer closed the very specific way I had left it… I had nothing of value in it, so nothing was missing. My girlfriend had left money in her bag (I told her please don’t do this) and noticed $40 missing (edit: I had previously said euros). Finally, the man running the breakfast downstairs was condescending and a bit rude… not enough to get fired up about, but definitely not nice. These items aside, the shower was excellent (I was moaning it was so good) and the attendant girl who was working the front desk when we checked in (Emily) was super nice and very friendly. The breakfast was “okay” but nothing spectacular… although I will say the cook really knows how to make perfect crispy bacon. The location was convenient. It’s too bad about the issues we encountered.

Just a wonderful intimate boutique hotel in a great neighborhood. We upgraded to the suite/apartment next door and loved the comfort and beautiful design and attention to detail that went into creating a warm, inviting space fully equipped with real kitchen! Hospitality provided by the staff was a treat and Glancia, our server in the bistro each morning, was a welcoming smile to start the day. Food was excellent, also… a great find, all in all!

Very friendly family-owned hotel. Comfortable, clean rooms, good breakfast. Had dinner one night, also good. Great location — Victoria Station (rail and Tube) is 10 mins away.

Stayed here 5 days. Rooms were clean, and had tall ceilings providing a very spacious feel. Linens and beds were comfortable. Water closet had recently been remodeled and had new tiles and fixtures. Hot water on demand. The breakfast was delicious they have fruit, rolls, granola, etc. And they cook you eggs, sausage, etc. Fresh when you order it. They have a small bar. The breakfast cook and bar tender Jakub is very personable and a good guy to hold a conversation with. Overall I liked this place and would go back again.

The Windermere hotel is situated in a really charming location. Close to Victoria's station (10 min). Room are small, but cozy. Service and personal are really good.

I absolutely loved my stay here. Booked last minute without any research but never regretted a minute. A bit of a walk to the tube but it's in a fabulous neighborhood so it's an enjoyable walk. Family owned and they are very accommodating, you can tell they enjoy running the hotel. Absolutely loved the on site restaurant. Food is sensational and the chef and all the staff are wonderful. It's an old property so prepare yourself to hear some creaks and not expect things at a modern hotel but it is 100% comfy and cozy. I would definitely stay here again.

Very good advice to everyone: I booked a room and they datto a very clean and equipped apartment at most. Very friendly staff helpful and profesional. I'm definitely coming back!

Great hotel near the tube and they serve a fantastic complementary full English breakfast.

Stayed here a year ago and I still remember Windermere as a nice and cozy hotel that I want to come back to. It is walking distance from Victoria station and the neighborhood is quiet. I recommend the brassiere in the basement when you’re tired after a long day walking around in London. I was with my daughter in London in a twin bedroom and asked if there is a family room if we came back another time with the whole family. The hotel owner gave us a tour and showed me the very nice rooms with connecting doors between on top floor. Hopefully we will book at Windermere for our next visit.

Great location close to Victoria and Pimlico, but very quiet and clean. Spacious rooms.

+: Nice and smiling staff. Close to the Sanjay train station. Large bed very comfortable. Cleanliness. Affordable price (except restaurant).
-: very sound and squeaky floors (2 nights on the 3 without sleep, because of neighbors totally without gene). I had asked to be woken up at 4 am on the last day… I'm still waiting! (Fortunately, the cad of the top was loaded. )

I'm just back from a three night stay at The Windermere with my daughter. Right from booking, the staff wanted to get things right (which they did). My daughter was travelling with her wheelchair, and the lady I spoke to was keen to make sure that we had the right room and could get the wheelchair into the hotel. When my daughter needed to rest, it was quiet, we weren't bothered by cleaners etc, and we could have dinner via room service. The hotel itself is lovely. The room was very comfortable (I agree with a previous reviewer's comment about wanting to stay in the shower all day! ), clean, and had everything we needed. The food was excellent, and I was surprised to see scrambled eggs and smoked salmon as an option for breakfast, delicious. Location wise, the hotel is great, close to Victoria and onwards to the theatres there and even on to Buckingham Palace. You would be hard to find comparable space, location and quality for the price in London. Thank you!

Great proximity with easy 5-10min talk to the tube and restaurants as well as other locations. Affordable, well take care of rooms and great bathrooms. Breakfast was wonderful and included on my stay. Very helpful staff for any issues and 24hr desk. Would stay again! Oh and great fast Wi-Fi!

We stayed at this hotel for 6 nights for our honeymoon and it was amazing! The location was awesome, and we were able to get to all the tourist attractions within 15-20 minutes. The breakfast was amazing, and we really liked that we had the option to order food, on top of the cold dishes that were set out. We also ate dinner one night in their restaurant and it was really good! It was probably one of the best meals that we had in London… the chef was really nice and took the time to talk to us for awhile too! I think what we enjoyed the most was the personal touch and how friendly all the staff and owners were. We would definitely stay here again and we recommend this hotel to anybody else!

We stayed last March and had a fantastic experience. I particularly enjoyed the small cozy feeling. Yes, the rooms are small (especially the shower), but we are out sightseeing the whole day and only stay in the room to sleep. The breakfast was a great start to the day and the ladies did everything to accommodate our taste. The location is wonderful and within walking distance to Victoria station. Felt totally safe in the evening. I felt that all the staff was invested in our having the best possible stay. Highly recommended.

Fantastic to find such a great hotel in London that is easily accessible and has its own restaurant. Staff very friendly and accommodating will certainly be coming back soon.

My mother and I just finished a seven day stay in this charming hotel. I was extremely sad to leave, and not just because I will miss the wonderful English breakfast in the morning! The hotel staff could not have been more kind and welcoming during our stay and helpful as we planned excursions inside and outside the city. We stayed in the Kensington room on the 3rd floor, a cute twin bed room that was perfect for a mother/daughter trip. The hotel is handicap accessible with an elevator so it made it very easy on my mum and her bad knees! The bathroom was extremely spacious with a tub/shower combo and a skylight! Every day, the staff leaves a fresh supply of expresso, tea, coffee, water, etc in your room — all on the house! As others have mentioned, there is a delightful English breakfast available every morning from 7:30-9:30 am. We are early risers so this was a perfect way to kick off our day! You have an assortment of yogurt, granola, fruit, cereal, eggs, sausages, bacon, toast, baguettes, croissants, etc. As well as fresh coffee, tea, apple juice, orange juice and OJ. The lovely couple who owns our hotel helped us plan a great trip with the Evan Evans tour company and gave us recommendations on what to do in the city. The other desk staff and restaurant staff are great as well! One of the best things about this hotel though is the location. We were able to take the tube, walk or an Uber to every single part of the city.

Beware solo travelers, the single room I had was awful. Tiny bed, tiny room, tiny bathroom. The carpets were shabby — perhaps they only rent the singles when the hotel is fully booked — and the sheets were worn & torn. I asked to be moved to a better room, or have my money refunded. The hotel replied that they were full. They stated I should have booked at the refundable rate and refused to refund my money so I could book another more comfortable room elsewhere, thus ruining my trip to London. Expedia called them as well, asking them to either change my room, or refund my money, and the hotel refused. They tried to imply that because I am an American, I do not know that rooms in London are small. But I have lived in Europe for 18 years, & made at least a dozen trips to London.

Friendly, comfortable, great breakfast.

A typical British hotel located in an old build, much alike all the other ones adjacent to it. Traditional decor and a rather traditional approach to service — — closed door requires ringing the reception, metal door keys, and the friendly receptionist taking us all the way up to our rooms, showing around. The room was clean, well maintained and for London standards relatively spacious. Breakfast offers both English and continental versions, the former pretty good, if a bit small. The same restaurant offers food in the evenings, though for drinks you’ll find a better variety in the nearby pubs. Happy with the service, very kind, helpful and patient, lots of smiles and a personalized approach — — easily remembered my room number and needs.

Stayed here for two nights and it was a fantastic experience. The staff is very friendly and helpful, taking very good care of the customers. When we checked in, we were followed to our room and the man in the reception even helped carrying our luggage. The room was big and nice with a big and fine bed, and the bathroom was well equipped with different shampoos, bathrobes etc. There's also a safe in the room and as for the Wi-Fi it's free to use. The breakfast was fine — nothing special, but they served what you can expect. We also dined in the restaurant and it was a relaxing atmosphere, some great food and, like in the reception, some very friendly staff. The hotel is in walking distance (about 10 minutes) from the Victoria station and if you're leaving early for a train (or a flight from Gatwick) the hotel can arrange some early breakfast for you, even if the restaurant isn't open.

The best part of this hotel was the friendliness and helpfullness of the reception staff and the breakfast crew. Having a full English breakfast was a plus for me while my wife opted for the continental breakfast which had many choices. Our room was bigger than I expected but we may have had the largest room there. The small couch in the room was worn on the edges but even having room for a two-seat couch was a plus. We took two coach excursions out of the city so having the Victoria Coach Station within a five-minute walk was great. The elevator was small but not nearly as small as our hotel in Paris a few days later. The hotel is in a residential area so one does not have shops and cafes readily accesible out of the door. Sloane square is only a ten minute walk away.

A gem of a hotel near victoria station! very clean and great service! we got lost on our way back from buckingham palace our first night there, arriving just after the kitchen had closed. The chef stayed behind and made us the most delicious sandwiches! the full english and continental breakfast was a wonderful start to a day of sightseeing. The staff were so helpful and although the room was small, it was very clean and comfortable. We would definitely recommend this hotel to others and will stay there again the next time we are in london. Can't recommend this place enough.

The hotel is nothing like the pictures on the website. Much older and poorer condition. I should have listened to the other reivews that talked about the stairs and the small bathrooms. Our room was on the third floor — basically the attic. The stairs were in very poor condition — they were crooked and I worried about their stability. Our entire room was slanted. If we had poured a glass of water on one side, it would have ran across the room to the other side. My fiance teased that he should sleep on the side of the bed where the slant ran low so I wouldn't roll off the bed in my sleep. The bathroom was smaller than a closet. The shower was so small it was difficult for me to turn around in, so I have no idea how my fiance did it. If we had been able to get our money back, we would have checked out and gone somewhere else. The staff was nice, but the hotel was subpar for European standards. The only positive was the breakfast. My fiance was in heaven with their poached eggs. They made hot items to order, and had warm pastries, fruit, etc. I will definately find somewhere else to stay if I go back to London, and I won't be recommending this hotel to anyone.
