Reviews of Shakespeare Hotel 3*
Perfect location for getting around the city (the hotel is very close to the train station and underground) nice staff, great breakfast, nice rooms. Strongly recommended!
Very nice hotel, very quiet and very good breakfast, I will come back and I recommend this hotel.
Very good, to clean, the breakfast was delicious…
Tha hotel is goog, but don't forget nothing in the room lose property never coming back to you! The hotel is good, but don't forget anything in the room never recover!
Super location, friendly staff, neat and clean rooms. rooms are a bit small and it's a long climb for higher floor rooms. No lift. but I think for the budget it is a great place to stay.
Good location, very friendly and helpful staff. Clean. Great place to stay. Breakfast is included in the reasonable room price.
I don’t have nothing to say about them but I have only one word for them which is “Excellent “
No airco, was really hot. Really noisy. Not too expensive so overall okay. Breakfast was good tho.
Pleasant and affordable hotel.
The area is nice, rather lively with a lot of restaurants. The subway is five minutes away.
Breakfast is ok, nothing more.
Only drawback: you can feel the vibrations caused by the passage of the metro near the hotel.
Stayed for 2 horrible nights. Terrible welcome. Mean staff. Tiny rooms with a shower that is not so well meant for showering. Staying on the 4th floor was shocking with the no lift service and thus ended with a nightmare carrying bags up the narrow stairs which at some point felt as though they were about to break… all in all not recommened at all. Worst experience ever.
Too small room, the beds were short of falling apart and also too small. Just like the bathroom. The breakfast consisted of half-edible waffles and toast, the coffee did not taste, so was more to get used to… The staff was not very friendly either… Only the good location near Paddington Station justifies the second star…
Room we were in was tiny with a double bed crammed in Helpful staff. Only stayed one night. Hotel is a little tired and could do with a refurb. But enjoyable stay.
As a solo woman travelling in London, this was a welcome relief from the hustle and bustle of London. It is an easy walk from Paddington Station which was a must for me as I have limited mobility. The friendly staff at the reception made it a welcoming spot. The single rooms are small with their own toilet and shower. The breakfast was good for a continental one. No complaints about anything.
Overall, it's fine. I slept well, ate a decent breakfast, and loved the location. However, the climb to my room on the 4th floor was horrendous. Rickety and uneven stairs, narrow stairwells, weird set up of the stairwells… not thrilled but knew about it going into it. The rooms are rather dumpy. The beds felt old and the sheets and duvets were torn and kinda gross. The room could use a good updating. The bathroom was clean and a nice size. I loved that the windows opened and looked out over the beautiful park across the street. I thought it was a relatively quiet and pleasant location at night. Very safe, especially for solo travelers like me. Lots of good food options in the area. I was disappointed to find that putting the "Do Not Disturb" sign on the door meant nothing because when I came back after being out for the day, I found my beds made, clean towels, and the room straightened. I really didn't want my room serviced and thought the "Do Not Disturb" sign would do the trick but clearly not. The desk staff were nice and easy to deal with. I asked for a fan on my first night's stay but they didn't have any. The next night, I asked for one and they were very accommodating. It helped keep the room cooler at night. I'd consider staying here again but would probably shop around elsewhere, since most of the hotels in the area are comparable in price and options and might be a bit more modern compared to the old Shakespeare.
For a hotel in London it's already good for a reduced budget.
Very well placed, 3 minutes from the buses and Metro, several restaurants at 3 minutes also.
Room size sufficient, facilities in the room but… Small washbasin (difficult to wash hands) and especially noisy! Unlined windows and especially the vibrations of the subway that make objects and furniture tremble.
The reception is friendly and very helpful (we needed remote help and we were very well served.
Breakfast very decent.
Staff very pleasant, do not speak no Spanish, facilities a bit old but sufficient sleep, the bad thing is that you can hear the meters and the room until it vibrated, we had a room overlooking an inner courtyard, the breakfast limited in variation, the coffee is very bad but as in all of the sites in London, the good thing is q are continuously making toast as well q you save a lot of time, don't expect luxuries but it does to take a shower and sleep.
A good hotel and helpful staff. No elevator attention the floors are 4 so ae take the top floor it will be tiring to do down and on the board is ask immediately to check in a room not at 4. Or plan. The location is excellent a few meters from Paddington Metro station and buses everywhere. Very good breakfast.
It'S cozy, the staff is helpful, x any information you never get annoyed… The room was a Little small. But x The rest you can say it's all OK.
Clean, but simple. For the cheap price, nothing could have been expected in an expensive metropolis. Freshly baked waffle, toast, scrambled eggs and cereal for breakfast. After an extensive stroll around the city, the subway noises do not disturb. Staff very friendly, humorous and helpful.
Rainfall breakfasts and little miscellaneous. Just enough room!
Small rooms, small joint shower and toilet, no elevator and narrow stairs. But it is clean and tidy, efficient and helpful crew, 2 min walk from Paddington — a major train and tube station, and a walk from Hyde Park. You do hear the underground trains every few min but it is no more than a distant quiet rumble, at least in the higher floors. Rooms for 5-6 persons make it a very cheap options for families who wish to see London (and not hang in the hotel)
It is a simple hotel with clean rooms.
The bathroom is very small. Unfortunately, there is a lack of storage facilities in the bathroom. Towels are changed daily from room service, if necessary. There is a large towel for each person. You should bring a small one for your hands.
We had a fridge in the room and a TV. But there are no German programs.
Unfortunately there is no lift. The suitcases must be carried up the stairs themselves.
Oropax should not be missing in the luggage. The subway is to be heard in the rooms.
The staff was friendly and helpful.
Hotel was OK for the price, but the breakfast is incredibly bad, the toasts were burned every day fruit, or fresh yogurt there is not, there were even breakfast times and if you can be 5 minutes late you could not go for breakfast. The stairs were so tight that you could get your head out, the bathroom is new and good, but the beds were totally durchgessesen and the laminate broken.
Perfect place if you need to stay in London overnight. Close to tube and trains. Clean and cheap.
It is unfriendly, we have got a room in the basement no bathroom in the room a communal bathroom we had… And the breakfast was very skinny and staff told you not to take so much… This hotel is supposed to have two stars? I would rather say that it is a hostel and not a hotel… We were bitterly disappointed.
The Hotel is in a very convenient and quiet area for Visiyare London. You reach it all in no time. Very good breakfast
I also really enjoyed the room which to my surprise had not the clssdica is hateful carpeting. Clean and cozy, only flaw: The subway passed under the nsotrn room every 15 minutes making enough noise.
When I return to London I will know where to sleep!
Good cost-performance ratio. We found the hotel with a good offer. Good position, just near the underground and with several restaurants at few meters. The staff was very kind and available. Breakfast: We liked the waffels, freshly cooked and tasty. Not large variety but it was fine. The structure is a bit antiquated but we had a nice and clean room, comfortable beds big enough if the aim is to visit London. We were sleeping very well, no sounds from the street, indeed the hotel is not directly situated on a road with traffic.
Fantastic location, clean and comfortable room, perfect continental breakfast in the morning. All staff were just wonderful and accommodating. This will definitely be on our list to stay when back in London, which is hopefully soon.
Well, nice. The only building criticism is the lack of an elevator. Good location, good breakfast, nice staff would go again.
Great service, very nice staff, great breakfast buffet.
LONDON-style Hotel. Compared to the hotels in Spain the rooms and bathrooms are a little small, but for what it is, it's fine. My room clean and tidy. It has very good connections, Paddington train station (5-10 minutes) and Metro station a couple of minutes from the hotel. Breakfast is buffet type, not a lot of choice but everything I tasted I liked. Very friendly staff. Leave the room at 11am and you can leave the suitcase there if you want to go for a walk or your flight leaves in the afternoon and then go for them even if you're not in the room. The only downside I would put is that you hear too much the subway when you are in the room.
I gave four stars to this hotel because the rooms were clean. The bathroom in the room was like the one of the ships so a little claustrophobic. The room itself was not small but they crammed two bunk beds and a sunbed. We were two but in five C is really little space. The breakfast was a little disappointing. A few steps from the metro so very convenient. And then in a nice neighborhood.
Very good location. Circle Line can be reached in a few minutes. Local, pubs and grocery stores in the immediate vicinity. Friendly and helpful staff, clean rooms and a solid breakfast offered by the hotel. Only drawback was the mattress which was already over. That's why the four stars. Definitely recommended!
It is a hotel that is good to sleep what just and little else, as you hear the meters totally every two minutes. But the deal was great, minus one night that there was a man/young person at reception who didn't do either to help us or to understand each other days great. And good that, to go from Turisteo to London because it is bearable perfectly, the room was fine, it was small, but it was clean…
It is pretty cheap so you can not expect too much. The restrooms were clean and looked new. The stuff was nice and helped where they needed to. Our room was at the 4th floor, the staircase got slimmer the higher you got. The fire alarm was loud enough to wake us up so no need to worry there. Good for school classes and big groups.
Beautiful Hotel in a very good neighborhood, close to Metro and bus stops, Hyde Parck very close.
The room was clean and the staff were very friendly and helpful, of all the times I've been to London this hotel is the best, I would repeat many times more.
It's a perfect hotel, close to Hyde Park, underground station, bus stops and lots of shops and restaurants.
The hotel is very clean, the staff very kind and the breakfast is amazing.
I loved it and I am sure that I'm going to repeat.
Clean and cheap, close to public transport although the facility and especially the beds are definitely to improve because they stayed at Victorian times.
Vibrate to the rhythm of the metros!
Old and simple breakfast.
Room too small for a family.
Very nice staff, very convenient location to move any half, old building and tiny rooms!
The hotel was perfectly located with access to Paddington Station and everything we needed was close at hand. Breakfast was serviceable if not inspired. Fresh waffles, boiled and scrambled eggs, ham and cheese slices, cold cereal, yogurt and fruit were available. The supplement for the Full English Breakfast might be a good option for a couple £. The hotel was well maintained and very clean.
Infrastructure: Low-level hotel, room too small, bed of six feet long (not recommended for large), bathroom too small, cold water once on two, shower head running, broken cupboard without forgetting the subway that makes the room vibrate.
Regulation: EXCESSIVE, 30 min MAXIMUM for a completely insipid breakfast, no alcohol in the hotel, no smoking in and in front of the hotel.
Staff: They give a very bad image to the English, never a smile, throw the stragglers at breakfast, I'm not even sure to have seen a sign of sympathy on their part! Luckily there was one on the team that was more human than the others (thanks to him).
I do not say thank you, it is not thanks to you that I enjoyed my trip.
Unless all this is a pale theatrical performance to honor your name… There is more beautiful play to play than: "Too much noise for nothing" "The Tame Shrew (or earlier breakfast) " or "The Night of the mistakes (of hotel) "
We visited Shakespeare hotel 31 October till 5 November 2017. The rooms were clean and spacy, beyond my expectations for the money we payed for. The intercontinental breakfast was fair and offered us a wide variety to choose from. The rooms were cleaned daily as well as towels did. We had a small but nice balcony which viewed the saffolk park. The only complaint was that the receptionists to were not helpful except from a Greek guy who's name I can't remember. By the way if you intent to visit London and want a value for money hotel check this out.
What to say. An old building with equally old furnishings. The rooms are small and run-down. Far too tightly furnished. The bathrooms are sometimes almost too small to use with locked doors. To do this, the staff is rather unkind, if okay. Breakfast is a disaster and should be avoided. You'd rather go for a few pounds in one of the countless breakfast bars around the corner for a few breakfasts. The "Shakespeare Hotel" is not really cheap. At the same price, there are much better accommodation in London, even if it is undoubtedly a very expensive city. Most youth hostels in Germany are better!
Great hotel, a little bit but jadore this old style, English.
I spent a week in this hotel and thought it was really great! 4/5 points + central location + less than 2 minutes walk to any restaurant sac bars + Sauber (towels can be changed from if you like) + toilets both in the room and in the hallway at each floor — unsuitable for the elderly, as the location is a bit noisy — It's all very tight (yet absolutely enough to sleep in) — the breakfast buffet was delicious but slightly empty (e. G. No decent fruit)
You honestly get what you pay for here. Room was small but okay and clean, bed was stiff but sleep-able, but bathroom was TINY, honestly looked like a closet. There was no separation from shower to the rest of the bathroom, so the entire floor got soaking wet anytime I showered. Eventually I sacrificed a towel to keep the water from spreading, but even that didn't help too much. I don't know if the rest of the hotel is like this, but I'm relatively certain the metro ran right next to our room — every ten minutes or so it felt like our entire room was shaking from it. Breakfast is surprisingly decent, I wouldn't recommend paying extra for the English breakfast, you get enough with the normal breakfast. Staff were nice, but they led me astray by recommending I be at the train station about twenty minutes early for my train. As an American, I've never taken a train before and didn't realize you have to be there THIRTY minutes before, otherwise they won't let you on. Yeah, so we missed our train, which sucked, but I do acknowledge that's partially my fault. I just wish these guys had given proper advice when asked.
Rooms are good. Staff is really helpful. The location is very near to the metro station. There is a Royal park within a kilometer's walking distance which you can visit. The overall location is very good with all kinds of shops nearby.
Located very close to the centre of the city and well connected. The room that we had was pretty decent and the breakfast is ok: toasts, waffles and cereals. No elevator.
We have been few days in the hotel and the stay has been very good, we have not had any problem. The rooms are small, need to sleep and little more. The breakfast is not very varied but very good.
Typical Hotel London. Well connected. Subway station, train and bus less than 100 metres. Good care of the professionals. Continental breakfast adequate. An option is functional and comfortable, without frills, for a visit to London.
Bad hotel. The room was stuffy and noisy and could have been a lot cleaner, we booked another hotel for the next night. The shower was disgusting so none of us used it. The staff were friendly but that was the only positive.
Great service. Stored our luggage here through city stasher, ideal location close to train station.
I enjoyed my stay at Shakespeare Hotel. The room was small but it was always clean and the whole hotel is well cared for. Every staff person I encountered was really polite and accommodating. There was a bit of noise from the trains nearby, but it's a small price to pay for how well connected the hotel is to the rest of the city. I would recommend this hotel to friends and colleagues.
Location is really good. Single rooms are absolutely tiny which make it cosy in my opinion. The lighting is quite confusing because there are chains/ropes and they are hidden (for someone not used to them. I cant comment on the price because I got it through a travel agent. The staff were quite helpful, pointing out places to visit etc.
Nice hotel in a lovely location. Will definitely go there again.
The hotel was as expected, small rooms, "plastic bathrooms" and no lifts, only carpeted stairs. But it is close to the underground and railway stations, it is clean and the staff is friendly. Simple but ok breakfast. Good value for money.
House romantica de epoca.
Hotel with very good communications. 30 meters from the metro stop. Relationship quality price excellent. The rooms are clean and cosy.
Terrible hotel, rooms were very very dated. Our room was a double, so small went bending over my backside touched the wall. Shower had no hot water, no lift so we had to walk up three flights of stairs with our cases. Staff not very helpful, would not ever go back there. I made an official complaint and got back £33 50. My advice don't go there.
Rooms and bathrooms really small but of decent quality. Friendly staff. Free Wi-fi but a little slow. All in all, considering the shopping, it is definitely a good solution for a weekend with friends!
Good location at a reasonable price. Just round the corner from Paddington station. Be warned — staff are grumpy assholes, the bathrooms smell like people have died in them & breakfast is a bit 'iffy'. You get what you pay for, I guess.
Frankly, was not the best. Beds were noisy, bathroom was so small I could not move, toilet smelt every time it was flushed, towels were slightly dirty, broken socket behind my bed, shower was broken and would not turn off, room was boiling because there was no air conditioning, found hairs on the bed and there are no elevators. I was on the top floor and had to walk all the way up after a tiring day of touristing with all my luggage.
The Shakespeare hotel is a nice hotel, very close to Paddington station. Located centrally, to go anywhere, without really really long way.
The rooms are typical of the area: quite small. But you want to look at the city and to stay, it's okay. TV, hair dryer, adaptor, extra blankets are no problem, everything is available here. Comes with the cleanliness you now no German standard hinterherhinterher, but it's really okay. The beds and the bathroom were clean so far.
It's old. It creaks here, cold there and you can hear the train once and it looks all somehow somewhat worn out ladisdiahly. Thus, you can live. But who wants peace would be eh wrong in London.
The service is super friendly. Typical British politeness and everyone is friendly. The post will be sent for a way and the bags can be safely locked up, if you want to do before the check in kommtkommt or after the check in something.
I kannkann recommend it.
Good points: Fairly last minute booking and at £76 for two people was a steal. Great location, close to Oxford street and Hyde park with good connections. Staff were friendly and the breakfast was lovely. Personally found it hilarious that we had a five single bed room for two people. Others may have disliked that. Bad points: terrible free Wi-Fi, with a £5 charge to improve it. Im not opposed to no lifts in a hotel but the staircases were very small and were having work done. Was lucky to only be on the second floor. Im an quick sleeper but some may be put off by thin walls and the water pipes being fairly loud. Overall, for the price, location and decent quality of stay it gets 4stars would go again on a budget.
The taste is a little tired but I appreciated the cleanliness of the rooms and the fact that there was no carpeting. The bathroom is a bit small and should be updated but overall for those who must spend a night or two is fine considering the price. Acceptable breakfast waffles are freshly prepared and very friendly staff.
Rooms Breakfast well, miserable. Well situated and clean. Very expensive for what it is. We will not return.
Me and My 3 big girls stays for 3 nights. Very pleasant and nice. The breakfast was super and perfect. New waffles every morning with a lot of different sauces, Nutella, toast, cornflakes and yoghurt. Cakes and fruit. We were surprised. Thanks a lot to the stuff, you were fantasic! It tasted very good. (from the mother with the three blond girls with tall hair)
A little Minus for the room, 3 bunk beds, not what we expected us. But ok otherwise, clean and fresh room. Friendly and helpful stuff in the reception.
Many stairs, we stayed at 4:th floor…
But I will recommend it, perfect location, very close to paddington station, and maybe 7 minutes walk to central line, Lancaster gate.
10 days ago:
reception service very good. Very friendly Italian staff. Room service does not exist. In 5 days stay we were never cleaned up the room. 4 bedroom very closely. Towels get changed. Bathroom never cleaned. No elevator. Stairs to the narrow, steep tunnel. Decent breakfast service. Restaurant staff doesn't speak Italian. Very nice from the outside but inside big disappointment.
This hotel was very bad. The quadruple room was big, but it was in the basement without a window, dirty blankets and a very small bathroom (if I can call it bathroom) there were also mold! one star is too much for this "hotel" for your own good, please don't go there.
Staff was so nice and the view from our garden was a wonderful garden with alot of sunlight coming in. We walked everywere and if we couldn't be bothered there were many buses and train lines. Amazing location, clean and cute hotel. I reccommend.
Very bad experience. Very rundown, room is not what you see on the web pictures or displaying at the front desk's picture frame. DON'T book this hotel. Should not even have one star! The one star should only gives to the breakfast which is surprisingly not bad, especially the coffee.
This is a fair Hotel in London City. I had a personal room with in-suite bathroom. I stayed 2 days and I really appreciated my stay. Do not expect a luxurious or modern Hotel but fair Hotel. Reception desk staff was nice! I recommend this Hotel for short term stay for young traveller.
Not a great experience overall. Only positive was reception staff somewhat helpful and flexible. Internet virtually unusable and expensive, bed bugs, no laundry facility. Dining facility (breakfast) staff unfriendly and inflexible. Could not get second chair for double bedroom even though two were staying in room. Tiny cupboard space with insufficient hangers, of poor quality. Bathrooms very poorly appointed — no shelf to put toilettries on. Walking distance to Paddington station is helpful.
