Such a lovely evening, Met with a friend for a 50th birthday catch up! Well looked, after by the staff. Food was great and cocktails good. Our only critique would be the plastic glasses on the roof terrace! It's a grown up thing.

Best rooftop restaurant is a fair review. Loved it. Really friendly staff and very good food. Rooftop was gorgeous to boot.

Sat on the roof garden with a couple of drinks and enjoyed the fresh air and views from a couple of levels up. Service was great, with the bartender allowing samples of his favourite picks. Needless to say, I was not let down. Great little spot!

Great environment. Great location. OK prices. Long waiting times for the roof terrace at peak times. Two hours on a Saturday evening. Good electronic/text message queue system to cope with this though.

Visited the rooftop bar for brunch on a Saturday with a group of friends. The food was nice, however, there is already a limited selection, and when we visited, the full menu wasn't available, further restricting the options. The service was quite slow: within our group, half got their drinks before the meal was finished, and half did not. It was agreed by our table that the price was high compared to the level of quality presented.

The atmosphere is nice. I tried to sit there on a Sunday evening, but the kitchen closes at 6:00. Too early for a big city, but I will give it a second chance.

Great place. Very busy. We were interested in the food menu. Must try that another time. Unfortunate experience with the beers. It was a very hot afternoon and we were looking forward to sampling a couple of cold ales. Sadly, so were lots of other people too. So, the beers we chose were running low or running out.

Really cool pub. Nice vibe and decent prices for a central London location. The staff are very friendly and welcoming. Only negative is how busy it always seems to be but that's to be expected in London.

Great drinks service and food. And a roof top bar with views over the city! Ace! Lovely bedrooms too if you want to stay!

The Culpeper is so fresh. Their grown vegetables, rooftop for lunch or early dinner. Well worth it. Downstairs bar food is great but not as amazing as the rooftop.

My partner and I have just returned from a weekend here. Fabulous hotel in a great area. The room was great. Even though it is above a busy pub, we couldn’t hear anything from our room. The water, cookies and tea and coffee were stocked daily. The shower was really good. All of the staff were really attentive and the service we received — from the welcome drinks on arrival, to looking after our bags so we could explore the area after we checked out — was second to none. The food was amazing. We ate in the restaurant one night and had breakfast both days. The food was really different and delicious. The pub was great. Had a nice vibe and although it was busy, we never had to wait long to be served and it had a really good atmosphere. If I could give it six stars, I would. We will definitely be recommending Culpeper to our friends and we will be coming back.

An excellent little pub with a gorgeous roof garden. We attended a botanical cocktails event and that included some light lunch. The food was tasty and fresh and the cocktails were fresh and made with skill. The roof terrace normally opens midday and on a summer day lunch up there is an awesome experience. Will definitely be visiting again.

Don't miss the restaurant upstairs. Compare to many other pubs, the place is very cosy and not too loud! Food is good at a descent price!

Decent pub with homemade pub food with a little twist. Had the gnocchi and the fish and chips. Great gnocchi with squash and spinach. Really tasty and well prepared. Nicely fried and seasoned. The fish was fantastic! Great chips not from potato mash but cut potatoes. Self-made mushed peas! Bit over seasoned but that's just personal taste. Batter could be crispier. Would eat again! Starter was fried blood pudding balls. Good stuff! Bread and home made anchovy butter complementary. Beer selection decent 5.5 a pint for the standards. Really friendly staff and all easy. Nice atmosphere, great seating, no loud music, door needs to shut automatically because people are too inconsiderate to close it in cold weather.

I had really high hopes for this place after seeing the gallery on the website and checking out the menu. The building itself is very grand and looks great, the interior is also quite elegant and welcoming. The rooftop garden/bar is very cool and absolutely worth stopping by for a drink after your meal. Unfortunately the food at the Culpeper, on this occasion, was average and a little bland. None of the dishes sampled really stood out despite strong presentation. Additionally I was excited to try their oysters but was disappointed to hear they had ran out for the evening. The service was great, the waitress did a superb job and we enjoyed having a chat with her during service. Will likely stop by the Culpeper again in the Summer to give it another shot and enjoy the rooftop garden.

Great food, cool vibe, amazing service! What else can you ask for? I really recommend the polenta chips and the squash gnocchi. They also have a cool rooftop garden for drinks!

We went for the Sunday roast and we choose the lamp option. One of the best I've ever had. Location is really nice as well. Good selection of drinks!

Delicious food, bizarre service. In a group of 10, we all ordered beef roast but was told we could only have it in 150g or 250g. It was then served all chopped up and piled on one self service plate. So bring scales.

Really nice setting near brick lane. Gets busy from 5pm. Great venue with great food. Ideal for meetings.

I love this place. Great, lively pub downstairs, and a fantastic restaurant upstairs. The menu isn't super vegan-friendly, but the staff went above and beyond by helping us choose and editing dishes to work.

One of the best London gastropubs I've tried in the East. Fantastic selection of London craft beers in bottles and good range on taps too. The atmosphere is vibing but not excessive, the menu is excellent and they serve one of the best Bavette steaks I've tried recently (Sunday roast menu). Absolutely recommended. Also, open until 2am!

Had the braised squid, it was fantastic. The only downside was that it wasn't big enough! Good food, good atmosphere.

This is the former Princess Alice Public House, where several victims of Jack the Ripper are rumored to have been regulars. Why did they change the name? Well, it’s still a charming place.

Good pub with a nice rooftop bar area. Both the main bar and rooftop areas can quickly get busy immediately after working hours. So I'd recommend arriving earlier to grab seats if you're coming as a big group.

Went here in the summer and it was rammed, which clearly shows it's popular! Managed to get a table at the rooftop bit and was quite cool to have a place with that sort of rooftop that doesn't cost you and arm and a leg! Would recommend if you're in the area.

Really nice interior. Lovely rooftop which even had space on a sunny Sunday at 2.30pm. They couldn't serve food out there because they had a big table in the restaurant and the kitchen couldn't cope. We sat down to eat on the ground floor. The menu was limited. As it was Sunday I fancied a roast, but they only had one, Lamb shoulder. So if you don't eat Lamb then you're stuffed. The other options available were probably very nice but not Sunday lunch material, like pesto pasta, cured salmon and new potatos. They did have Pork Belly but with some beans and salsa Verde. Suffice to say I went to eat somewhere else. Oh the wine list is short.

Had lunch on the rooftop. Decent decor. Very friendly staff. Menu is different to downstairs and only has some canned beers on the roof. Food was very good.

Beautiful setting on the garden rooftop. The food was excellent particularly the pan con tomate. They also have blankets for chilly nights.

Charming pub in an area slightly devoid of good casual drinking spots. The rooftop garden is a lovely place to hang out in summer and the beers aren't too overpriced.

Great pub with nice decor. Popped in for a quick drink and some bar snacks. Went for the deep fried black pudding bites, which were fantastic, chips were also great. Nice atmosphere and friendly, helpful staff.

Came on a recommendation and loved it. Made our way up to the rooftop garden area which was great. It quickly got extremely busy but he atmosphere on the ground level and outside made a second trip inevitable!

Nice pub with a good atmosphere, and it opens late. I can be a good option if you want to have a nice night out at a chilled place.

. The place is huge but gets quite crowded at night. Still it's possible to find de space with a large group. The atmosphere is very nice. The terasse on the roof is really nice but has a different food menu.

Good roasts and epic portions. The margarita was a good 'un too. Make a reservation or come early on a Sunday.

I love this place, it just looks so smart yet relaxed. I enjoy sitting at the tables facing out to the street, I'm obsessed with the tiles used throughout the place. Drinks were also good (great house rosé). I've never had a the roast, because (please note) they only serve till five on Sunday.

5 starts on ambience, 2 on service It's an authentic old house with a very thoughtful refurbishment — they've preserved the quirkiness for a great ambience. We went to a star-gazing night which was an awesome experience — jump on the rooftop to watch stars through a telescope. Perhaps because of the group event, service was proper bad (as in rude) and food was good but on the scarce side.

Great restaurant! Absolutely delicious food, at a reasonable price. £26.50 for two courses. Fast service and friendly staff. Good place for larger groups. I will be back!

This is my favourite pub in London. Proper old Victorian pub, great range of beers on tap, I have eaten here on a couple of times and it is always excellent. I have also stayed at the pub and the rooms are very nice and comfortable. However the main reason I like this pub is the staff. Everyone of the team there is friendly and attentive without exception. Getting good service in London can be a challenge and very rare to get it so consistently. Not sure who owns the pub but they have done an excellent job, a real find. They also have a later licence particularly on Friday and Saturday when it is 2 am.

Here it pleased us really well! All very nice people there and the atmosphere was bombastic.

Went to bar on ground floor, very good hand pulled beer (Sam Brooks Wandle) and good range of beers on tap and bottled. Buzzing atmosphere with young city crowd. Service friendly and efficient.

Love this pub. The food is amazing. We have been here for dinner on the first floor and brunch on the ground flood and both were fantastic! Beautiful decor.

Great beer selection and friendly staff. The bar is pretty good and open until late, but good for a 'quiet' pint late at night still — I was meeting a friend who'd just landed in London late at night, and wanted a pint so we're could go here, no entry fee, no dress code and have an unfussy pint and catch up at 1am. Perfect.

One of the best pub in London. Great for the after work drink but also an excellent place for diner. The roof top is the icing on the cake when the sun comes out. I totally recommend it.
