Amazing place, food is beautiful and staff are very welcoming and friendly!. Just what you need after a busy day sightseeing round London.

Just got back from a weekend at the mad hatter. Had to write a review as the hotel is so worthy of one. The staff honestly couldn't do more for you! there was fresh iced face towels on arrival, free mini bar, bottles of water etc, face mask, eye mask, dressing gown, free books, hair dryer, iron board, coffee machine… cookies. You name it! it was catered. We had the HOTTEST weekend and there was a Dyson fan waiting for us in the room 🤩. Hotel was gorgeous. Staff were so friendly. The bar does the nicest cocktails and breakfast was gorgeous. It was perfect location for the lyceum, the tower, Queens parade, the eye, the Thames… everything was within walking distance. Which made a nice change as we'd usually have to tube it every where. 100% recommended and its definitely a hotel I'd visit again.

WOW…what a gem! Had the pleasure of staying in this amazing place June 2022. The room was spacious, clean and appealing. Food was excellent value. The staff are the loveliest and friendliest bunch, nothing is too much trouble. Massive shout out to Luke on reception who is full of help and top local tips ❤️ Great value for money. Thoroughly recommend.

Had a fantastic 3 day stay and could be happier with The Mad Hatter. The staff were absolutely wonderful, super friendly & helpful. The breakfast was delicious as was the pub food at night. Great little gem of a hotel, fabulous location, we’ll be back!

We have not long ago left, we stayed here from the 19th February for an early birthday present. The staff were very friendly, the gentleman on reception was 10/10 nothing was to much trouble! The rooms were clean & the beds, very comfy! Thank you for making our stay pleasant and enjoyable 😘 We will definitely we back!

We have not long left the mad hatter and what can I say what a lovely friendly team! The dinner last night was really good (recommended the pies) The rooms were clean, comfy and well decorated! Lovely atmosphere we will look forward to returning in the near future. Oh abs must not forget the fantastic breakfast this morning! Booked for my wife's birthday, very welcoming and friendly staff, brilliantly helpful. Stayed the previous night elsewhere for double the price and the Mad Hatter was far superior. Will definitely book again.

This is one of my favorite locations in London! cool tiny room… lovely breakfast room. I am a collector of hats! quiet… lovely full window that you can open. Also close to 2 undergrounds.

Absolute gem of a place to stay whilst in London. Gorgeously clean and spacious room and bathroom and staff very helpful and friendly — far better than any hotel we had stayed in before. Enjoyed the pub/ restaurant — the decor in the dining area is whimsical and you really don’t feel like you are next to a busy road!. A very relaxing place to stay and the free drinks in the fridge are a real classy touch. Loved it — will definitely visit again.

Not impressed, told thate kitchen would be closed till 8 o'clock and then told another 10 minutes about five times.! Didn't bother and left, so disorganised.

We’ve only been here a few days, and it’s been a fiasco every day. Firstly, they charged over 300 pounds to our credit card for no reason; we literally hadn’t even entered the room. Then, the Wi-Fi didn’t work at any point over our trip. Our key card has only worked 50% of the time, meaning a lot of trips up and down the stairs to ask them to fix it. Finally, the housekeeping is terrible, only giving us the items it feels are needed, not a full set of replacements.

First time visiting this pub for a few drinks. Really clean and lovely atmosphere. Will be returning soon to try the great smelling food. Menu looked very reasonable and the staff gave excellent customer service. Friendly and fun. Very impressed.
The hat stand selfie area was a nice touch.

Great hotel in one of the most dynamic areas of London, immediately after Blackfriars Bridge. A little too much noise, especially in the rooms on the first floor. Typical English restaurant (fish and chips and little else) but good, not excessive prices for London. Great alternative to the most famous hotel chains in the area.

I would love to give this place 5 stars because the rooms were cute, they had a free sample mini bar, the pub underneath it was awesome and its location is great. However, we stayed there during July and they have no AC, so we were miserable. They gave us two fans but the windows won't open more than half a foot at an angle, so you can't get a cross breeze. Even in the middle of the night it was still too hot to get restful sleep. Do NOT stay here in the summer.

We had a great stay at this hotel, staff were all friendly and although room was hot the fan and complimentary drinks in mini bar helped to cool us down. Room was clean and well appointed and breakfast is good. Highly recommend!

Appalling service from bar staff. When I arrived the bar was empty when the waitress arrived she was more interested into clutching onto her handbag than serving the only customer. After sitting for twenty minutes waiting for friends to arrive a 'reserved' sign was dumped on the table without comment by another equally surly waitress. When I enquired from what time she looked affronted that I'd spoken to her. Another waiter arrived saw I had a menu asked if I wanted to order food I said I was waiting for a colleague. He nodded and smiled went back to the bar. When my colleague arrived we went to order and were informed that the kitchen was now closed… at 17.15 when your hoarding advertises food. Not happy nil point!

Large (for the area) Fullers pub with hotel rooms if you find yourself stranded. Usual range of Fullers-sourced beers & ciders, and good range of food. Space for medium-sized events, helpful staff.

Lovely stay. Clean and friendly. And even but a bottle of bubbly in the room for my mum's birthday.

Friendly welcome from the two staff on duty when my office quiz night took place. We'd booked a space for about 40 people and everyone said how much they'd enjoyed the evening. There was lots of laughs and banter with the staff at the bar through the evening and they couldn't have been more helpful.

A convenient venue with a quirky interior that serves decent beers. The food is rather overpriced and of only moderate quality however.

Stayed for three days. Lovely service. Room was clean. Food downstairs was pretty average. Wprkshire pudding was good though.

Lovely mix of new amenities (Dyson heating & cooling! ) and character charm (the floor is wonky so you can't open the door all the way). They have excellent quality body wash and things on hand, as well as a free minibar. Rooms are gorgeous and themed. Don't pay for breakfast though.

Brilliant hotel at Blackfriars that is easy to get to and very well connected. Just perfect for Borough Market & the Tate. The rooms are great, the complimentary mini bar is much better than the ole' free pint malarkey and the shower is better than the one at home — warm and with great pressure! Best value in London and wonderful service every time!

The staff were very friendly and helpful. Very comfortable box-spring bed, large room. Good location near the Tate Modern on the banks of the River Thames and close to two underground stations. Walking along the River Thames, you can walk to Westminster Abbey, St James Garden and Backingam Palace in a few minutes. Also within walking distance of Piccadilly Iat. Minus points: On some corners the hotel would be in need of renovation. And it's pretty noisy due to the location.

Wonderful little boutique hotel in a great spot in the city. Check in was extremely delayed but the room was large and clean. We would definitely stay there again when in London.

The pub has a great decor but I didn't think the layout was good. It looks bigger from outside than it actually is. They have some taster menus where in you can try pies with ales. I am not a huge fan. Of ales so I cannot comment on the quality and taste but my novice impression is that it offers a decent choice of ales and alcoholic drinks. The food on its own isn't to my taste. However, it is a good option for an occasional booze and bite.

Fantastic location and really enjoyed the treats in the room. Very comfortable bed. I was working at the Tate Modern during my stay and this was a great location with a short River walk along bankside.

Great pub with lots of activities going on staff are polite have not yet used the hotel parts but I've always been treated with respect by the staff.

Stayed Friday and Saturday day night as a surprise weekend away organised by the other half. The staff at reception where so helpful and very friendly. We had breakfast in the pub both days and was really good so much choice and very reasonable priced. The location is fab for tunes and buses. The room was very clean and stocked with everything you need free of charge. Would definitely stay again.

Loved this joint. Will likely stay here again in the future. Price was right and quick to transport for the city and airport. Everyone was super pleasant and helpful.

We won a night here as a raffle prize at a mad hatter ball in aid of the charity Mind. Had a great stay. Lovely room, nice staff and we even got a free drink at the bar. Highly recommend!

Great hotel and great quality of service.

My partner and I stayed here over Christmas for 4 nights, we had such a lovely time, our room was really nice and equip with everything we needed to make our stay comfortable, the breakfast was just lovely so much choice & tasted fab perfect to stay your day, the staff really helpful & smilie, we walked to the embankment a number of times as it wasn’t far at all. I would recommend the hotel to anyone & will be back very soon when next exploring London. 10/10

Lovely place to stay. The room was clean and compared to some London hotel rooms we have stayed in, was quite large. The complimentary drinks in the mini bar were a nice touch. The breakfast served in the bar were excellent and at £10 When booked through reception, was good value. We did have an issue regarding our room key but we were more than happy with the response we received from the very helpfull receptionist.

Only had an after work beer here. Good bar, and good beer. But it is a hotel bar as well, and it has that feel to it. It does do sport on TV, and they can make it a slightly more lively night there.

Large fullers pub with hotel. About 5 real ales, food was really nice, mainly pies but a good choice. The food is on the pricier side but the children were accommodated well too. Nice wooden decor throughout and looked nice and Christmasy for this time of year.

It's not the cleanest and the furniture is a bit dated/mismatched, but what it lacks in chic it makes up for in charm. Staff was very nice and helpful. Seemed safe but they store luggage in the lobby in the open. Not too noisy. Great location, but difficult to get an uber or cab because of location on busy one lane road (no where to pullover). Has a bar/restaurant attached. Would definitely stay again.

Typical Hotel! We had a room on the third floor, we didn't hear the noise related to the work. The bedding is just perfect! The room is very well equipped! The staff are friendly! Clean side nothing to say! Breakfast is top! Good discovery! I recommend it totally for a total discovery of the traditional English world.!

Lovely looking, quirky, Victorian style downstairs in the common areas, bar, etc with modern plush bedrooms. Amazing showers, friendly helpful staff and a great selection of beers and wines. Would recommend paying extra for the full English breakfast — well worth it. Highly recommended overall — I had a lovely stay.

Breakfast is very good, the attention excellent, but they insist a lot on you ask for one packages.

Hotel and pub near Blackfriars set in the work Alice in Wonderland. It is an ideal place to have a drink:)

Excellent stay overall. The room was comfortable and the staff accommodating and friendly. The very few issues encountered seemed more of an issue with the buildings are then anything else. The only real problem is a lack of Air conditioning, which would have been a significant problem if it had been any warmer. It is also worth mentioning that the location is fantastic. It is only a very short walk to Blackfriars station, The Tate and the Globe Theatre.

Visited the pub downstairs. Service is good. The place could do with a make over although maybe it's fine if you like authentic. The pies are good (tried the fish pie) although the sides are so so and they don't come cheap.

Nice big bar area. Easy to get a table on a Tuesday night. Short walk from Southwark station.

My husband and I stayed in the hotel one night this past June. We had a late arrival from Gatwick, which the staff had no problems accommodating. The room was large for London… a little worn but clean. The bed was comfortable. The adjoining pub was very nice. The staff of the hotel and pub were friendly and provided fantastic service. The hotel is very convenient to the Blackfriars rail station. I would recommend this hotel to others visiting the area.

Still staying at the hotel, but so far it has been great! Very convenient location to access Big Ben, London Eye, and all other attractions. Most importantly, very nice and helpful staff and clean room. Will definitely come back again next time.

Advertised with the suggestion that this relates to Alice in wonderland. Other than a painting in the room, the theme was not Alice. The name relates to the fact the hotel was originally a hat factory. The room was expensive but was in poor condition considering the price. The heating was a storage heater and there was no air conditioning for a hot summer night. The TV did not work on arrival and after replacing the battery we couldn't get half the freeview channels to work. The bathroom was small and also in poor condition with, although the shower was powerful and better than anticipated. The staff were great although no discount was offered for the poor condition of the room. Would not recommend unless you get a severely reduced price. (Review based on one night at £110)

10 minute walk from Waterloo, lots of character, well laid out, lovely well decorated, cozy and clean room, really good in room coffee/Tea with biscuits, great bar, food was good too, typical british pub food… lovely! We were at a NYE party at the Southbank centre which was just a 10 minute walk, great for the fireworks, great location for general London tourism, I can't particularly say great value at 340 quid for the room for 1 night plus 20 quid for breakfast but it was New Years Eve to be fair and actually compared to what was available I guess it was kind of good value… ish. Think normal price would be 80 — 120 which is great value for what you get, only a couple of things, TV didn't work but was a general one off problem with whole hotel and breakfast took 30 minutes to come, staff are really friendly and helpful too, recommended!

We stayed overnight to see a show. The room was nice and the breakfast the next day was good. Location wise it was perfect and we had a good walk across Blackfriars Bridge to take in the sights of London.

Really lovely warm London pub. My parents were staying so we got to see the hotel rooms which were clean and cosy. Everything you need in the room including an iron board. In terms of the bar, it is what you would expect from a good Fullers pub and the pies looked amazing!

Friendly staff, huge platters. I come here weekly for a meetup event and we've never had any issues. Plus it's close to Waterloo and Southwark, so you've got good transport options.

Well. At first glance, has it's charm. On the second have the carpets a couple of decades on the hump, is the sink drain clogged, the toilet flushed very musical, the hallways are insanely heats, the pillows are rock hard, the room is poorly ventilated, the noise level is extremely high (thanks to main street & Langzeitbaustelle next door). And around 200 € for a single room? Well. The staff was at least very friendly and the onsite fuller's Pub can also what.

Great bar as well as hotel and very helpful and attentive staff. Good position for wandering over the bridge and exploring the city.

A pleasant spot — a big traditional pub with a decently broad evening menu and a good selection of ales. It's not incredibly expensive or a tourist trap either, which is unusual for somewhere this close to the river. There are charming images of Alice in Wonderland on the ceiling in the dining area at the rear too :-).

The perfect London pub. Spacious yet cosy, excellent pies, well kept beer, attentive and efficient staff. Also properly free, fast Wi-Fi.

My husband and I stayed at the Mad Hatter for two weeks in September 2014 and loved it. The staff is top notch, very friendly and accommodating. The hotel is utterly charming with the re-creation of a 19th Century pub downstairs that is filled with locals and even has a Quiz Night! The food is very good, too. I know it isn't English — — but I recommend their BBQ ribs! Our room upstairs was a bit small but met our needs comfortably. AND with a comfortable mattress — — this is a major plus as my husband complains about the mattress at almost every place we stay — — but NO complaints from him at the Mad Hatter! (Hurray! ) The location was perfect. Good for walking, taking the bus (at the corner) or the Tube just across the Black Friars bridge which is less than a block away. It's a great value for a centrally located hotel. We would definitely go back and I'm hoping we do.

The hote is in a superb central position within easy walking distance of the major sights. Our room was spacious, clean and very comfortable. I have to mention the bellybuster of a breakfast was great and all the staff are very friendly and helpful. For a beer lover it is great as there are good cask beers, the only slight complaint was for a pub we were surprised thay did not have any Cointreau, Drambui or even a port. Overall we had a great stay. Would reccomend the hotel and would consider staying again when we return.

Every time I have been here I have always been treated not only well but warmly by all of the staff there :) That alone makes me feel very warm to the venue and staff there :) I can only imagine that anyone else would feel the same :).

One of my favourites in this area. So good that I had my leaving do here. Big Fullers pub with several rooms. Island bar — good staff, good food, good beer. Prices not bad for the area. Recommended as a reliable pub from morning to late.

A really quaint small central hotel in London. Perfect location for city tours. But also somewhat in the years come. The views of the backyard is also not the most beautiful, but it is after all to sleep.
The nearest metro station is within walking distance to reach approximately 500 m.
Breakfast is typically British, plentiful and delicious! The employees were friendly at all times. I can only recommend this hotel for a city break in London.
