Arsenal Tavern Backpackers Hostel

Visited on a Tuesday night. Brilliant refurb done on the place making it probably the best pub in the area. Good selection of ales lagers and wine. Manager very friendly. Good for watching sport. Very comfortable looking. Do not do food. But we'll worth a visit especially on an Arsenal match day with the ground just down the road.

Great atmosphere really loving the refurbishment and a decent Guinness.

A great pub for Arsenal Fans reasonable priced drinks excellent and quick service by friendly staff and large screen television A special mention for Nikki for her excellent friendly service and kindness.

I love the fact that it’s so close to the stadium watching the Arsenal’s play on the large screen and hearing the crowd with the tavern and at the stadium made ya feel like you were at the game. Best time.

Doesn't have a licence to show live football matches, which is a shame as this once was a great football pub!

Downstairs pub is a large open space with a big screen, fine for pre — or after-game pints. However, was pretty empty after the game, and has quite boring beer selection.

Somewhere large to drink with a big screen. Might do other things but this seems to be its main function. Did meet a moody doorman, but didn't ruin the afternoon. Being refurbished soon I think.

Just one word : DISCUSTING… I've never seen something like that. The bathroom was very dirty. People were very noisy, dirty, unrespectful and awkward. I am not used to post bad comments but this time is I guess necessary.

Absolutly terrible. First night a member of staff punched a guest so they threw out the guest and refused to refund his money (the 3 days he had paid for and the £10 key deposit) no Wi-Fi only 1 shower working then as soon as you take a shower you get robbed.

Had a lovely evening celebrating a friends birthday. Been a while since l have been here as l no longer live in the area … friendly staff & welcoming.

Lazy and horrible staff, only dirty from the ground up to the roof, water leaks in quite a few places, no kitchen, worst beds I found in a hostel so far, for cheaper go to "No. 8 White Horse" or for the same price I would advise to go somewhere else.

The pictures on the website DO NOT depict what this place is actually like. It is a total dump, the common area has torn up couches and mismatched furniture, and smells like it's soaked in beer. The beds are far from comfortable, the metal bunk beds are triple and the mattresses are about 2 inches thick. The showers are easily clogged and over flow onto the bathroom floor. There are a lot of men staying here so when you go to use the toilet, it's either covered in piss or toenail clippings and pubic hair (that's what I found this morning). Also none of the shower areas lock and are not private at all. There's also an oxygen tank in the smoking area, I'm no scientist but I'm sure that's not safe. Be wary of their no refunds policy, we wanted to leave but ended up having to commit for the week because we couldn't get our money back.

Uncomfortable bed, horrible sheets, broken window, disgusting little toilets! But the worst was the staff, totally unprofessional and absolutely lazy. Very poor breakfast! Nice social room, with pool table, tennis table and sofas. Don't book here! Spend few pounds more and have better.

They have a general problem with the leak-proofness of things: windows, sealing, etc. It is dirty and the beds are not really comfortable. The showers do not work properly and the loos are too small to handle. When you enter, the hand blower would go off because it is not much room. : D The price is great and the manager knows that there are problems, so it's gonna be re-done soon. Staff is partly nice. But that doesn't make up for the rest. Would not recommend this hostel. : (

What a dump! They had the nerve to tell me that I was too old to stay there as I am over 40. I've stayed in over 25 hostels all over the world and NEVER had some nasty nobody tell me I was too old. GRRRRRRRRRRRR! Tell that to their millions of Arsenal fans, most of whom are well over 40. The public area's fake leather couches were in shreds, the entire place was filthy, all kinds of sketchy people there, some random drunk guy from the street followed me in there. It is filthy, disgusting, and unsafe. Should be shut down altogether.

Worst hostel ever seen, you can catch sickness if you stay in. Is like you are in prison, awful awful awful … you can spend a night out homeless rather then free night in.

I wouldn't suggest this place to a friend. Even though it is cheap and near the underground station, I don't think I would spend another night there. Toilets are disgusting. We found every sort of things on our thin mattresses: coins, hairs and rubbish I couldn't even identify.

I cannot fully explain how bad this backpackers is. Leaking showers on to carpet, beds stacked 3 high, unhappy staff and no opening windows in room. Zero character and poorly presented. Stay somewhere else. Anywhere else.

The staff (manager and supervisors) are despecable! the they do no care and work towards customere care but indeed they they care of their decisions and autority. I have asked to lower the music or TV sound but instead they are leaving it on all day with an increase in sounds. I am at the hostel all day studying and even if I am alone they leave it on on purpose. To note that when I have arrivied at the hostel all sounds were off. They want just piss off clients only!
