Great afternoon tea, lovely staff.

Arrived Friday last week slightly early and was allowed to check in then which was nice, we headed straight for the afternoon tea that was included as part of the stay. Fire alarm went off 4 times during the afternoon tea, not for long on each time, but not pleasant. The serve of tea was different to the menu advertised… Got into the room to realise the mini mirror in the bathroom wasn't working, nor was the shaver portal. The fire alarm went off again when we was unpacking in our room — another 5 times at least. We then headed out. Came back and wanted to visit the upper fifth bar, it was closed at 9pm. Again this differs to what is advertised. When we got back to the room later that night, we realised the fire alarm was making a clicking noise, with no sound on the TV, we wasn't able to sleep. I went to ring down to reception — the phone didn't work. I rang from my mobile, the gentleman on the reception was lovely, offered another room nearby that we could move to. Once we moved, it was slightly worse. The clicking noise was no longer, but instead we had a really strong bright flashing fire alarm above the bed. The toilet door didn't have a lock on. By this point, it was past midnight therefore we was too tired to move, again. Upon checkout, got asked was the stay ok to which we replied unfortunately not. The gentleman on reception proceeded to defend all points above that was raised, the most infuriating part was when he asked me if I knew how to "switch the mirror on?

My wife payed for a two night stay here for my 41st birthday, the photos looked lovely and the deal we were offered seemed very good. We had the romance package for the two nights (3 course dinner for each night, champagne and strawberries in the room on arrival and a late check out) this turns out to be a lie. Two of the three restaurants were closed and the only thing left was the sky bar on the roof terrace, which only sells burgers, pizzas and a couple of light bites (certainly NOT a 3 course meal) no refund was offered on the package we were miss sold. The room itself wasn’t clean, the shower head was covered in dirt and limescale, the toilet continually leaked, the bath emptied itself 5-10 mins after getting in it. The heat of the shower fluctuates from really cold to scalding hot. The staff although they seem friendly have no clue what’s going on and don’t provide a good service. This really is one of the poorest hotels I’ve ever had the misfortune to stay at. The noise inside the hotel as well as outside is so loud and carries on all night so trying to get a good nights sleep is almost impossible. Honestly I’d stay well clear of this place you’ll be very disappointed if you stay here. Stay anywhere else but just not here.

Booked for 3 nights. Travelled all the way from Scotland.
No network, poor service, lack of communication. Wanted to watch Tennis and TV not working. It did not matter to staff our importance of watching the tennis. Guy called Max very rude and not the right person to be at the foyer of any business. Very disappointed a few hours after check in.

Had an amazing stay roof top was opened for us to take up own drinks and food. Room spotless amazing pool which we also had to ourselves. Great helpful friendly staff will definitely stay again.

Great Place to stay very nice.

One of the worst stays I’ve ever had in a hotel. Spa didn’t work, bedrooms were noisy, rooftop bar was shut despite the weather being good, breakfast covered in grease and oil… The list goes on. Wrote to management to share my concerns, 6 weeks later and despite chasing every week, still no response at all. Plenty of other hotels locally to the area that are much better than this place. Complete waste of time and money.

Only a brief visit as partner filming in bar upstairs but ambience was great and if I was in the area I’d spend more time getting to know it.

Myself and a friend went there for a sharing platter and cocktail for my birthday. Cocktail was quite nice but the meat platter was quite boring. We had toast but no butter and not even a small amount of salad to help the meats go down. We ordered a £28 bottle of Sauvignon Blanc and they tried to charge us £40 for it. When we queried it they said we had been charged the price for drinking it on the rooftop terrace, even though it was chucking it down outside and we were quite clearly inside the whole time. Although the wine was rather tasty, it wasn't tasty enough to pay £40 for either on or off the terrace, so I'm pleased to say they did, after a long time alter the bill.

I would have rated this hotel. But after battling for 2 weeks over being charged for products I didn’t have, this has totally spoiled my impression of the place. I still until now have not received a call! The place was nice, but clearly staff are not on the ball at all in there, overall dissatisfied with there customer service!

Great room, comfy bed. Very friendly check in staff, free Prosecco, nice pool.
Breakfast could have been better as it felt like a b&b breakfast, rather than a 5*hotel breakfast.

Swimming on lovely warm pool with sauna was highlight. Staff were eager to help and very friendly.

Groupon voucher not a lot of choice but very nice food, lovely waiter nice and friendly. The Bar after is great for a drink. So quirky with all the cells and puctures.

I am absolutely loving my stay at this beautiful hotel! It’s has so much history and offers great amenity! The manager, Angelo, took his time to show us all the amenities and made sure we had a great time during our stay. All the employees are really nice and courteous! I am only staying in this hotel for 3 nights, but will deftly come back to this hotel during my next visit! Thank you for such an amazing experience!

Nice rooftop away from the usual Shoreditch crowd. Good charcuterie platter and average cocktails. A bit expensive surely but hey it’s a 4 stars hotel.

We've been to the court house hotel a few times now for cocktails or food and each time the experience was very pleasant and enjoyable. Yes there were small little hick ups with the service but on the whole the staff try their hardest to give a good service. On our first visit they showed us around the place, in the old cells were the Crays were held and explained some of the history of the building. On our most recent visit, one of the bar managers called Leonard remembered us and greeted us like long lost friends. We will certainly be going back again and highly recommend the court house.

Took my partner here after she had an amazing afternoon tea experience a few months earlier. To describe the service as one star is being generous. I have never been anywhere which is such a shambles. Getting orders wrong, waiting an hour and half for starters, receiving the wrong food, being told that the dessert is on the way, checking the order, then being told that it is not an available option. Had to repeatedly top up my own water. In positive news, the food was ok. The unique nature of the restaurant and adjoining rooms will pull in people, especially tourists, but I would urge people to seek elsewhere.

This is advertised as a 5* hotel on lots of sites. It isn’t, not even nearly. It’s superficially done up enough to look really good in the pictures but everything is low quality. The roof top bar was nice but £22.50 for a G&T and a tiny cider is only ok if the surroundings are in some way special — the 5th floor was littered with boxes and half constructed Ikea furniture. Great service on the rooftop but awful service on the ground floor where staff were at best indifferent and at worst rude/incompetent. Food was dumped on the table that was not as described on the menu and without any condiments or sides — these had to be asked for twice and then didn’t arrive until the end of the meal. Asked to see a duty manager and no one came but we did hear the very rude member of staff that served us being asked about the situation by a receptionist — they made no attempt to be discreet. No chargers for guests to borrow. Cheap and nasty toiletries. Not even enough tea in the room. All very unprofessional and second rate. We had so many choices of where to stay on what was meant to be a luxurious night away and it’s so dissapointing that this is where we ended up — no atmosphere, empty, tacky. Anyone that’s stayed in a real 5* hotel will no this place is a joke. We could have spent our money going somewhere amazing like The Ned but thought we’d try somewhere new. I feel completely duped and entirely ripped off.

Lovely decor. Take clean and neat inside. The food is not the best. Ideal place for drinks.

Terrible afternoon tea service. I was travelling from Canada to England, and was in London only for one day so I was really excited. The service and food were both disappointing. The waitress started off by telling us we could get unlimited tea and coffee and switch whenever we wanted, so we were initially impressed. They didn't take our order for 20 minutes. After they brought us our tea, it took over an hour of us waiting before we asked them why our food wasn't out yet. The waiter (different person) brought us our food within 30 seconds of us asking, so I assume they forgot about us. By that time we had already finished our tea and water. We sat for another hour waiting for our waiter or waitress to come by our table to offer us a refill. Not once did the servers make eye contact with us or give us the opportunity to request refills on tea. By the end of it, we sat there for over two hours without any servers tending to us. When I finally got a waiters attention (another different person) we requested a refill. He literally just filled our pots with hot water so we were left with disgusting watered down tea. At the end, I expressed to one of the waitresses how disappointed I was with the service and she kindly offered us two mocktails to make up for the terrible service. It was a nice gesture that we appreciated, but it doesn't make up for the worst service I've ever received in my life or the nearly 3 hours of time I lost at a below average high tea.

Excellent venue. Visited for a work event and stayed 2 nights. The room was large and well maintained. The bar area is well decorated and has a good atmosphere. The function room is huge and the cinema was great.

Saturday 21st April 2018 — Afternoon tea for 4 was ok at best, dry sandwiches, slow service, had to ask for more cream after one small pot was provided for 8 scones, then told they had run out, error on the bill etc…
We then went up to the roof terrace bar to be told a new policy had been implemented 20 minutes earlier which meant agreeing to a £160 minimum spend or leave. There were around 4 other occupied tables also being told this with varying degrees of insult experienced. We were then confusingly brought a round of free drinks?
The manager was unavailable and after much push back from all clientele already in place, although every other potential customer was turned away at the door after refusing to agree to the new policy, we ordered drinks and stayed for an hour before moving on (£45 for a bottle of cheap white wine).
All customers were talking together about how ridiculous it is to refuse custom at a virtually empty venue. Rubbish! Won’t be back despite the great views.

Went for afternoon tea. It was decent, but it was a little slow/cheap. Didn't have many options for the food. If I pay this much for afternoon tea, I do not want a cheap flapjack or the waiter to drop half my food. The waiter also asked my acquaintances and myself whether we had a Groupon but did not do this to other guests at the hotel for afternoon tea. How absolutely insulting. I had to go to Harrods and buy a new outfit because he made me feel like riffraff.

Vety friendly and helpful staff. Iconic cocktail bar, making good use of the old Magistrates Court cells. The cinema is surprisingly well appointed, although the air conditioning was a bit fierce when we went there.

Great Hotel. Great rooms. Great amenities. Great food. In an area where you have access to a great nightlife. The staff is wonderful and welcoming.

Lovely hotel in a great location. Nearby many bars and restaurants that are within a minute walking distance. Nice relaxing break away with great service. Only thing I would say is to make the restaurant/bar more competitive for guests given the number of bars and restaurants nearby.

Has to be one of the best hotels I've ever stayed in. The staff is attentive, polite, personal, but never pushy. We stayed in a Xscape twin room on the 5th floor. Whenever we left the room, we would come back to it being spotless with Kinder Buenos on the bedside table. Love it. The area is fun, vibrant and alive, with several excellent restaurants and bars within 1km radius. Highly recommended.

Had a Groupon Meal in the restaurant. I was not expecting much for the money but the food was really poor. The Pork Belly starter was so full of partially cooked fat I could not eat it. My Partners Pork Belly had rock hard cartilage in it? How does Pork Belly have Cartilage. The Cod main was massively over cooked and mine was literally hard on the top. The frozen desert was ok. A really poor effort for such a lovely restaurant, I have no idea how they can turn out such poorly executed dishes. Shocker. The waitress was very good though.

Excellent hotel, very clean and well furnished. The bar and original police cells are a must see! All decorated by Banksy! Hotel is in a good location and central, walking distance to many main tourist attractions.

Roberto, the senior conceierge, made our Christmas Day absolutely fantastic. We walked in to inquire about the bar, since everything is closed, and he went the extra mile to give us a full, private, VIP tour, including the rooftop terrace with the GORGEOUS view of London (which is typically closed). Talk about someone who understands and excels in customer service. So impressed with the staff and the hotel. Next time, this is where we will be staying! Thank you Roberto for being so accommodating!

Possibly one of the best hotels I have stayed at. They are friendly & attentive all you need is ask. Its very grand, yet trendy but a word of caution, there is so much to see in the hotel alone you need a day!

Trendy without the unfortunate attitude that comes with it. Amazing place to stay. Have a drink in the cells, fall in love with the view, and kick back in the spa before heading out for a night with the hipsters of Shoreditch. Amazing venue.

I really enjoyed staying at this hotel. Only 1.5 years old. Nice large room. Clean and comfy. And great to start the day with a swim in the pool. Customer experience wise there are small faults like makeup unfriendly light in the bathroom, lack of power plugs around the desk, no hot water in the showers in the pool area. It feels like no-one has paid proper attention to the customer journey. That's why I give the hotel 4 instead of 5 stars.

Oh this is such a lovely building. We had a sharing platter and cocktails and sat back enjoying the surroundings. Well worth a visit. The surrounding area is buzzing with nightlife. I understand they have a cinema there plus the hotel itself and restaurant /bar area. There is a roof terrace open in summer months. They have original prisoner cells too. It's been decorated and furnished beautifully Staff were very friendly. Well worth a visit.

4 stars as in good & would recommend. Room was large with a little sofa, desk and a comfy bed. I missed international power sockets, although the Concierge will gladly provide some. Free phone during the stay, but it's lacking new Android security updates. Breakfast was good, not excellent. Selection is average in quantity, mainly fresh in quality. Service could be a bit more attentive.

A fabulous hotel. Stunningly beautiful rooms with en suites you don't want to leave. The location is so central. Where ever you want to go in London, you're already half way there. Excellent service. Would definitely recommend.

Overpriced drinks and the most awful dining experience ever. Plastic found in the starter and after 1hr 45m we had all finished our mains but two of our party still had not received their food. Excuses about chicken being cooked fresh, then being dropped on the floor. Disappointing as we had pre-ordered our food so shouldn't have been hard getting the food all out on time.

I picked this hotel for my wedding anniversary. Having booked tickets to a show, I wanted a room for the night and breakfast. This hotel looked luxurious and along with its quirky back-story I decided to book for the night. Upon arrival the concierge and receptionist were very friendly and helpful. We arrived prior to book-in so enjoyed a swim and relax in the spa and sauna, located in the basement level (-4). This is a small plunge pool and hot rooms which were not over-crowded, in fact, besides the one other person in there (who left after 20 minutes) we had all to ourselves. The whole area was kept clean, tidy and well stocked by the very discrete cleaning staff, which were never actually seen but the service they maintained was very much appreciated. We returned to reception about 2 hours later to check-in and received a complimentary upgrade of room to a city view (level 6) along with a sweet desert waiting in our room with our baggage. Our room looked down across the cool roof terrace with the ornate bell tower of the town hall opposite and the skyline looking towards the City with Tower 42 (Natwest Tower), the Shard over the river and Canary Wharf in the distance further East. The breakfast was delicious, cooked and continental, I enjoyed the sausages and griddled tomatoes.

Booked an afternoon tea here, staff were friendly and the hotel is really nice. The afternoon itself is pretty good but the only thing was having the savouries and sweets all on one tray together, which is quite off-putting and confusing. Doesn't make for a good photo either. Afterwards we went for a drink at the rooftop bar, a good size place with some funky chairs. Not a big choice of cocktails and price is quite high.

Confusing afternoon tea experience. We showed up for our 17:00 res last Sunday, but were told the restaurant had closed so we would sit in the bar instead. That would've been fine, except the table we were given hadn't been cleaned and our cutlery was placed right on it. Once we were settled in though, we were told to go to the roof bar instead, because the bar was closing… So when we got there the bar workers clearly hadn't been told what was going on. But they were really nice and accommodated us anyways. Get this though, they didn't have tea… so instead they gave us complementary wine. A no-tea afternoon tea… Someone clearly messed up throughout this whole thing!

The hotel was STUNNING and we were given a free tour too! The customer service was outstanding as the staff and manager were all beyond lovely and the afternoon tea we had was delicious too! Overall just amazing!

Terrible experience — we booked via virgin experience voucher for the cinema. When we arrived we were told event was cancelled due to 'technical failure' that had been for over a month. No one called or advised us. No one was prepared to do anything other than offer another future screening session. We had spent over £90 travelling to London from Ipswich. Virgin were helpful even tho it wasn't their fault, the hotel were not flexible and simply stuck to their guns of offering a future screening for free. We only wanted our fares to London refunded and did not want another screening. The hotel refused to reimburse our costs, offering instead to 'discount' the cost of a £300 room! In my opinion the hotel were to blame, they were unhelpful and totally unreasonable and even lied to virgin to attempt to cover their reputation. They ignored their responsibility to ensure we were compensated for their lack or organisation when a simple phone call would have resolved it beforehand. I hope this never happens to anyone else.

Amazing hotel. Great pillows. Great staff. Great room. I didn't get any cell phone reception in my room. But they do provide a cell phone in the room for you to use.

First visit to Courthouse Hotel Shoreditch for a drink. We were appalled by the slow service from staff at the bar, then he forgot our order, and when the food and drinks arrived, they were not of good quality. And to complete this nightmare — we felt ill and stomach upset — definitely food poisoning or cheap alcohol poisoning. It's an insult to other 5* hotels that truly provide the 5* quality food/drinks, and 5* customer service from staff. The way this hotel is being run, with this poor staff service and food, this hotel will not remain for long… first visit and never to return.

The hotel, reception and receptionists and staff was all excellent. The venue was stocked with good food and activities, whilst staff were impeccable.

Worst customer service ever. Ruined my friends 30th birthday! Would not recomend under any circumstances.

Very traditional building. The original courthouse with all the splendour of large staircases and large open spaces. Conference facilities are excellent.

Worst hotel in Shoreditch. Always empty. Bad sanitiser smell. As soon as you walk just to have a look they'll chase you saying where you can and cannot enter. Refuse to give a tour. 100% change of ownership coming soon.

Friendly staff with amazing service, quite prompt and makes sure all your needs are met. Lovely location and quirky decor with an amazing rooftop bar. 100% would recommend.

Very quirky venue. The main bar features former court holding cells. I was running a conference in the cinema and the staff were very attentive.
