Nice decor, comfy rooms. Couldn't get Wi-Fi to work.

Great hotel close to Covent Garden.

Poor customer service, awful experience, I'd advise any salons to use loreal or wella, we have had nightmares with this company.

I stayed at the Academy Hotel for a daytime booking to enable me to finish some work. The staff were helpful and careful. The room was clean and comfortable with good facilities. The Wi-Fi worked well, and that's not true in many hotels. I didn't use the catering so cannot comment. I will certainly use the hotel again.

We stayed there for about a week, the room was comfortable but we had countless other issues, mostly related to the staff. When we arrived we found that the room had no phone, no big deal, went down and reported that and was told "That's weird" later we noticed that there was no "Do not disturb" sign, so we went and since the staff was different we mentioned the lack of phone again. We were told (in a single breath) to "Your room should have a phone" and "Call down if you need room service". When we pressed the issue since how could we call down with no phone they presented us with a Do Not Disturb sign, room service doesn't seem to need to be called down for, so not sure why that was even the suggestion. On a third attempt at acquiring a phone we were told by yet another staff member "There is something wrong with the Internal phone lines, they are being fixed". 5 days later not fixed or at least still no phone. We gave up. The Internet is crap. If your job requires Internet access, do not use this hotel. You need to acquire a code on a daily basis, and it is good for 1 device for 24 hours for 250mb, it is also slow and unreliable. You can buy premium Internet for an exorbitant cost but for the price of the hotel this should not be necessary. 2 people each with a phone and a laptop staying for a week = 28 different codes. The staff seemed to make no attempt to track the codes, or how many they went through, so what was the point other then being annoying.

Staff not well trained. Poor internet only allowed 200 mg per day. Wooden fire doors bang loudly when ever someone goes through them. Nice room, very quiet except for the fire doors. It was acceptable, but for the money I paid I would probably try somewhere else.

London is a very expensive city especially for hotels, and the Academy is probably the best hotel for its price that I've stayed in. The location is fantastic, within walking distance to the British Museum, Oxford Street and Soho; and London Georgian architecture has a very unique charm. We had trouble with the toilet refusing to flush, which the staff helped us with politely (albeit on a daily basis). Luckily we booked the breakfast-excluded rate, on the one day we tried the hotel's breakfast we were disappointed with the extremely slow service and sparse buffet. The room wasn't the nicest I've stayed in but also by far not the most unpleasant, although a few small dents in the slanted ceiling revealed that not all past guests had been as careful getting out of bed as I was! On the whole though one of the nicer places I've stayed in London.

Loved this place. Great location just around the corner from the British Museum and set on a typical London street. Unassuming front. Wonderful rooms, great decor. Breakfast in the basement and the quality of the food was amazing also. Would absolutely stay here again.

Beautiful hotel: clean, warm, quiet, safe and close to central London. I was almost turned off by a negative review saying it's not OK for single females, and I'm so glad I took a chance on it! This was not my experience at all over a four day stay, and I would recommend it to any women on their own. I felt cared for by staff, and any queries I had were answered promptly and professionally. There are buses virtually at the door, and the tube is two short blocks away. The room was extra large, which is unusual for London, and the amenities were excellent. I would stay at The Academy any time, and will recommend it to my friends.
