Lovely hotel. Very well trained courteous staff. Rooms immaculate. Food spot on. Very busy in the bar on a Saturday — almost no space but that's because it's good and the best table service we have had. A larger bar that is open all day at weekends would be good. It was closed until 3pm on the Saturday we visited.

Superb hotel, great rooms, very attentive and polite staff — probably the best staff we have had in London. Very nice restaurant for both dinner & breakfast. Look forward to returning.

Managed to put the wrong arrival date and the staff were so good and managed to get the staff to prepare another suite for us even though they were fully booked. Lovely evening.

Just checked in and went for lunch, service was appalling. Food cold and late (1hr! ) messed up our order. Kitchen and wait staff seem in chaos.

Beautiful, elegant understated decor, and a comfy, large bed. Great restaurants and bars near bye and easy walking to many of London’s iconic sites. The hotel is stunning, a fantastic restoration, with a friendly relaxing atmosphere. The breakfast was great, in a lovely french style salon, with 5 star service and attention. Can highly recommend for romance, work, holiday. We will be back, our new favourite hotel in London.

An absolutely stunning hotel. Service was outstanding. One of the wonderful staff actually went out at about 10pm to get my husband dark chocolate. Was a wonderful suprise when she knocked at our door. Breakfast pancakes were the best I have ever eaten. Definitely will be back.

Great centrally located IHG hotel. Well placed for Euston and Kings Cross stations and close to the tube. Very helpful reception team, very friendly and jolly. Equally welcoming in the Palm Bar for large G&Ts! Beautiful building.

This is my regular go-to hotel in London. The hotel is truly beautiful; both inside and out. The staff are always friendly and have been personally helpful with me. All amenities are fantastic. I look forward to returning in the near future on my next venture to London!

Had the most amazing weekend spent in the hotel celebrating with my partner and truly was the most amazing way to do it! From our gorgeous room to cocktails in the most beautiful bar. Staff were amazing and went above and beyond from booking us a table at a local restaurant and getting us a taxi. Thank you for the amazing stay which truly made our celebrations wonderful.

The venue is very nice and the staff were friendly.

We had a most enjoyable afternoon tea in this stunning setting, with attentive, friendly service by our waiter, Fedro, who was also very knowledgeable about the history of the hotel. Nothing was too much trouble for him and he made our experience extra special.
The food was excellent and sandwiches and cakes were replenished on request, as were the hot beverages.
I would highly recommend this venue for a delicious and memorable afternoon tea!

Nice hotel, lovely decor and rooms with friendly staff. Don’t bother with breakfast here at the Burr & Co, not organised at all, poor service. Went instead for breakfast to a nice little cafe around the corner called 49 Cafe. Updating review: Many thanks for your reply. I would also like to mention that we did try breakfast on our last day at the hotels own restaurant (not Burr & Co) and it was very nice, and up to the expected standard of your hotel. We would definitely stay here again.

We won a night's stay here but I will do my best to be impartial. We stayed in a double room and had complimentary welcome snacks and drinks. The bathroom was done in a lonely art deco style. As Londoners we are familiar with the area already but most tourists will find the area comforting and central enough. You can easily walk to Covent Garden or Soho in ten minutes or the British Museum in five. Other parts of London can be reached through the nearby bus stop or tube station. Breakfast was included and includes both continental style and greasy fried up which is great!

Had a wonderful stay at the hotel for my birthday. The staff really made an effort to make it special for me. They upgraded my room to the beautiful junior suite and delivered a delicious cake! The suite was stunning, especially the bathroom (amazing roll top bath! ) Thank you for such a lovely stay!

Very Excellent Hotel. First class service. Good value for money. Staff are very helpful. Corridors smell can be better. It was a very old hotel and now a new management took over and renovated everything.

We actually went to the restaurant, Neptune for dinner and the decor reflects the opulence of the past. The food however was very modern in it's treatment and was DELICIOUS! Obviously a seafood restaurant, it still has other menu items for non-seafood diners. The seafood was amazing. Best lobster dish I've ever had. The coffee was very good with a great taste. The staff in the restaurant was friendly and excellent in service. Well worth the visit.

Please don’t take this the wrong way. Although not staying at the hotel, we used it to meet clients in the Coffee / Bar area. Nice airy ambience, good food and drinks. The option of available draught beer does need a little more visual.
As a regular to the Blythwood (Glasgow) I was met with the same efficiency at the door here. Good pleasant staff. Please keep this up. Will be back soon.

Amazing hotel! Very new and beautiful decorations! Love the marble lobby. Room is good size with a good size bathroom. Very comfy bed with white sheets. Very tasteful deco in the room. Staffs are amazing too, very knowledgable and friendly.

Great interior and exterior! The marble was amazing. It's worth it to use the main staircase as the elevator is the smallest I've been in and on the 2nd floor there is a lovely dragon sculpture that Fitzroy Doll (architect for the Titanic and Hotel Russell) had made for the hotel. It's twin was on the Titanic. My Dad and I found that to be one of the best parts of the hotel. The bar was very nice, but the drinks were a bit overpriced. We had a twin room (no view, unfortunately) with very comfortable beds. The hotel is located around the corner from the Russell Square tube station and also a Tesco Express. Very convenient location, especially for getting to Kings Cross. Overall, it's a nice hotel with history and character.

I regularly stay in London, and this was among the best value for price hotels I've been to. Stunning building, attention to detail, great amenities from top to bottom (loved the "Tuck box") and outstanding staff. Will definitely stay here again.

I cannot begin to explain how wonderful our stay here was, a beautiful room, but more importantly, the friendliness of the staff was like nothing we have experienced before, we felt like everyone of them was there just for us, we will certainly be returning very soon.

The Hotel is brand new, it opened April, 16, 2018. It is the old Russell Hotel, completely refurbished, but keeping the old architecture The building is iconic, the decoration is superb and the team is lovely and very responsive. Very comfortable rooms (albeit smaller than it should be), good bathrooms and very honest breakfast The location is the best, close British Museum, underground and the cozy Russell Square. Since the operation just started there are minor adjustments that are being made, but with thus team is just a matter o time I definitely recommend The Principal to a good stay and in London.

The Principal just opened two weeks ago and all the staff is still very excited about it — only half of the hotel is in operation yet, so there are really way too much staff at this point. We had a good clean room — though they were a little slow cleaning it one day — with everything needed for a good stay in London. We certainly didn't miss anything in our room. The hotel has a very good bar too with plenty of interesting choices. We could easily have gone there every evening, but London was too much to offer to do that. All-in-all a very good stay in a very good hotel!

I love this hotel it is the first time I've stayed and it was refurbished only a couple of days ago the rooms are really nice with little touches like a tuck box with a few snacks in and a fridge with a little carton of proper milk. All of the decor is very nice and the breakfast is locally sourced and tastes wonderful not like the usual buffet breakfast you get in most hotels. The staff are super friendly and make sure you have everything you need. I have booked this hotel for the next few weeks and I am hoping for the same experience each time.

The front desk staff was so rude. I was staying the first 2 nights on my own here, with my parents joining me later that week. The hotel gave me the HARDEST time trying to pay for my room, as my parents had prepaid. The male staff from Canada was the rudest, belittling me and asking if I was sure I could afford the room when I decided to pay with my card. Will never stay here again, so unfortunate because the building is so gorgeous.

Formerly 'The Hotel Russel' attributed to Charles Fitzroy-Doll ('all dolled up') and completed in the late 19th. Century. An elaborate confection clad in terra-cotta with decorative statues, busts and coats-of-arms. Recently refurbished ; an impressive and distinguished resident on this historic square.

A lovely hotel, only a hop skip and a jump away from the subway and many of London's treasures. The breakfast should keep you nice and full for a good chunk of the day :) n+ the staff are nice and helpful.

Rooms were a little dated, restaurant was a little dated too, but you stay here for the proximity to Central London and for its wonderful architecture.

Old fashioned luxurious entrance, & beautifully decorated rooms to match. Having only just found this place, I now am worried someone calling themselves a designer is going to ruin this beautiful hotel, out of all proportion & recognition! I hope not it had a unique character.

Used the car park to park for a day out in London. Fairly easy to get to without having to drive through too much of central London. Good vale, £12 for 6 hrs, £14 for 10 hrs even with the petrol cheaper than the train for me!

The hotel is in close proximity to the British Museum and a subway station. It is situated on the "Picadilly Metro line" which goes directly up to the Heathrow Airport Terminal 1-5.
The rooms are not very intoxicating. The beds are light and mounted on wheels, this move is again at the inside rise.
The TV did not turn and the battery cover of the remote control was missing.
The window writing were very bad. Single glazing is a bad idea on a busy street in Central London.
The breakfast was English but tasty.
I would choose the next time very likely another hotel all in all because I was expecting something more for my money.

Hotel booked on my behalf for my business in London. Bed was extremely uncomfortable and room was very noisy. Single pane glass in the centre of London isn't good. Worst nights sleep. Curtains thin and light came through early morning. Cleanliness was ok in room. Corridor area was poor. Breakfast was average. Reception staff friendly and when we mentioned about the bed and noise they said that was the best they could do. One night in the room was more than enough. Will not be planning on staying at the Imperial again.

At those prices, who cares if it's a little noisy, and the beds are uncomfortable? The rooms are nice enough, but the wheels on the beds annoyed me to no end. I get that it's to make cleaning easier, but at least let me lock the wheels so the bed doesn't slide out from the wall while I'm trying to read my book! The breakfast was fine, the Wi-Fi was bad, the elevators slow, and the water hot, with good pressure from the showers at least. It is very close to the tube station, which is a big plus. Would perhaps stay there again.

Food was absolute rubbish. Sirloin steak! wouldn't have given it to a dog. Complained, and was told we are sorry sir. Never saw another member of staff. All to easy to take your money and run.

I stayed at the Russell in may 2015, this was due to my daughter being in the hospital nearby. The staff were very friendly and helpful throughout my stay. The single room was very comfortable, clean and I was lucky to have a lovely view. The bar area was comfortable and served good food. The hotel was also very good value for money. I would highly recommend this hotel and am looking forward to returning for a stay in the future, under better circumstances.

When my Cosmopolitan and Marie Claire readers want private horoscope consultations, we always meet at The Hotel Russell because of the Grade II listed mosaic floor. It shows the Sun at the centre of the Zodiac. It was created by Rust, whose mosaic work can also be seen on the East Staircase at the Victoria and Albert Museum. There is a second astrological mosaic by Jesse Rust at the old London, Edinburgh and Glasgow Insurance Company at 194 Euston Road, also Grade II listed. History and mystery!

Very beautiful hotel, stayed there a year ago with my sister and loved it. I came back this year and as I also read in other reviews the personel is a problem, they are numerous but they are unfriendly and not interested in the wellbeing of their guests. Certainly at the reception desk these people are not friendly at all!

Stayed two nights staff very helpfull. Hotel very tired could do with a coat of paint room tiny ate in restuarant. Never again. Waited thirty mins for first. Course. (soup). When arrived (cold). Wont be back.

Had to cancel a booking today due to a family death, the receptionist was very helpful and the hotel refunded our money on a non refundable booking. Thank you Hotel Russell. The rest of the group booking is looking forward to seeing you on the 31st of October and im sure the rating of 5 star will remain after our visit.

I had a great experience at the hotel. Booked reservation direct — a lovely Zack helped me and got me sorted in a professional efficient friendly helpful way and offered an upgrade to a junior suite for a small sum which I accepted. On arrival it was so easy to find the hotel right near the tube and easily walkable with a wheelie bag. Every body was welcoming from the doorman to the check in desk. I was then told they had upgraded me to the suite! What a treat and it was a rather lovely suite of three rooms with a lovely view of the park and very nice facilities including a kettle and drinks and shortbread all most welcome. The bed was very comfortable and the room not noisy despite being on a busy road. Great TV and facilities as well as storage — a very grand room. The bar at night was cosy and we stayed there till it closed without feeling rushed out. Breafkast I did not order but went to the bar for fresh milk and they gave me a plate with pastries and a smoothie anyway! A good check out system and a 12 a clock complimentary extension meant I really got the bets out of the time there. I would definitely stay again and recommend the hotel for the incredibly relaxed and friendly atmosphere.

Stayed for 2 nights, well located, junior suite to hight standard, breakfast had a good selection and plenty available, hotel has a lot of historic features, I would recommend this hotel to anyone.

Stayed 3 nights in a lovely, well equipped, quiet room on the 8th floor. The staff were excellent throughout our stay, particularly in the lounge bar. We ate breakfast and dinner in the hotel and the food was great. The hotel left complimentary treats — cakes, robes, Clarins toiletry pack and a chilled bottle of Prosecco — in our room on my husband's 50th birthday. The hotel is lovely and a two minute walk from the tube and within walking distance of the central London attractions. Excellent stay for very reasonable rates. Highly recommended.

Value for money very good. Very good room service and very friendly staff, several receptionists who speak Spanish. Perfect location, near mouth of metro, shops to stock up and the great square of Rusell Square just in front. Very close to the British Museum. It worse, the breakfast, on the line of the hospitality British. However, the cafe-bar of the hotel offers the best dishes at affordable prices.

Poor customer service and average school dinner food. Absolutely no vegan options, which is sickening for an upscale 20th century establishment.

Bad experience. Stayed at this hotel for a week and a half on a business trip. I paid for the room in advance and showed up a day late because of a delayed flight and they gave away my room. So not only did they get my payment for the room they got another person's as well. Also, when checking out I paid with a different credit card than the one I used to hold the room. They forgot to release the prior credit card's charges for two days. The high point of this hotel was the bar and restaurant section.

Just home last night. Stayed 3 nights. Lovely hotel. Interior and exterior lovely. From arrival to departure non of the staff disappointed. Elena arranged our rooms as I called prior. Fab rooms and always spotless, due to hard working chambermaids. No fridge, but rooms had all the facilities we needed. (However be aware of the noise form the streets below. Bring earphones. ) All of the doormen polite, helpful and very impressive, as were the concierges for whom no question was too much trouble. And of course who couldn't mention the loveliest man of all, Irishman porter. BERNARD — loveliest, politest man. He makes you feel really wonderful. A real ambassador for this lovely hotel. He even arranged trips for us on the tour buses, which we highly recommend. Couldn't do enough for us frankly. very busy hotel, but no queues at breakfast since fast turnaround due to diligent staff. Breakfast was hearty and delicious. Central for underground, station and buses. Nice little local Italian locally. we will stay again, yes. Just be aware that outside is noisy for sleep, even though we slept in rooms at the side of the building. However I will stress that there was nothing else which we weren't happy with! Go and enjoy. Mr and Mrs hillhouse and family.

Love the classic looks of the hotel, but service in the bar area is very poor. I had to wait very long for my food (60+ minutes) and drinks. They seem to have a lot of staff, but they seem to be interested in each other more than the guests.

Pretty good, I you it I recommend greatly, is sees that have improved them breakfast because just of breakfast and was all pretty good. Good hotel and good service.

Nice staff, impressive hotel and reasonable priced rooms, but our blow heater didn't work and our hot water tap fell off when turning it! Would stay again but only due to the location and cost.

Cool location, lovely facade and stairwell. Manager changed our room when we complained. 1st floor rooms are incredibly noisy and we had bad AC. 7th floor overlooking Park was nice. No guarantee to get a room fridge.

Stayed here while in London for business lately. Looks amazing from the outside, I couldn't believe it had fallen into our business hotel budget. I imagine when the hotel was built it was very up market and grand. It still retains some of this in it's architechural features, especially with the entrance hall, restaurant and many of the corridors lined with marble. I also found the staff (including the doorman! very friendly). Delve a little deeper though and the rest of the experience does not quite live up to the grand entrance. Move away from what I imagine was the original hotel, and the corridors suddently turn from marble to tatty paint. The lifts are the smallest I've ever experienced, though it does give you a good excuse to use the impressive marble staircase. My room was quite disappointing. I think I was facing the centre column of the hotel. The windows were blacked out and nailed shut, not too pleasant. This is more than likely to try and keep the din of the air conditioners down which sit in the central shaft of the building. It was quite a noisey night. The general fit and condition of the room was average, though it also looked a bit tired. The bathroom particularly so. Bed was clean and comfy, and I slept well despite the noise. Breakfast, although in an amazing room, a clone of the dinning room on the Titanic, was very disappointing. Average choice and low quality ingredients in the cooked breakfast.

I have been to this hotel several times, each at the expense of companies as I was attending conferences. As a city centre base, it's not bad — stunning location, recently renovated rooms, and the staff have always been exceptionally helpful. Being right in the centre, it's very easy to get to — it's practically on top of Russell Square station. The lush greenery of Russell Square is right outside the door, and it's a short walk to Oxford Street, the British Museum and Covent Garden. So convenience is a big positive. It does have a couple of significant downfalls, however. Being placed next to two very busy roads, it is noisy, even in the rooms facing the back of the hotel — the insulation against noise is inadequate in most cases. As there are a few bars in the locality, there is noise from drunken revellers as well as traffic, though this is less noticeable, and usually only at weekends. The prices in the bar are astronomical — I would recommend going to the bar in the hotel a couple of doors down the road, which are much better, comparative to Wetherspoons prices. Breakfast is fairly standard hotel fare — fried full English, some cereals, fruit juices in those bizarre thimbles that hotels seem to always have. Overall, it's a handy central London hotel, friendly and welcoming, but with bargain chains like Premier Inn offering accommodation for a similar price and more up to date facilities, might not be your first choice.

Site clean, bad breakfast and dinner to not give it or the dog and over took us bail (field trip) or us encasaquetaron which I oteo group broke a bed.
