Amazing in every way. Food, atmosphere and service were all excellent. Can’t wait to return.

I would say that the venue is lovely, however sadly the service was not great. I went on Friday evening for dinner (5 of us) for a birthday, and unfortunately it took 45 minutes for our drinks to come — all at different times — and our food then took another 45 minutes! Our table was booked for 7pm and we did not eat until 8.30pm — not really acceptable. Whilst the staff were very friendly, I felt maybe it was too busy and the kitchen and bar were just too backed up. I will return to give it another try, but certainly not at a weekend in the evening as i’ld hate the same treatment.

We had our wedding reception at the Mitre and words can’t describe how sensational this venue is. Everything from the riverside setting to the stunning orangery, to the food and drink which is out of this world and more than anything the staff and service were outstanding. Thank you SO much Carolina, Ronnie and the team for making our wedding day truely unforgettable!

Amazing place I highly recommend a visit — staff were very friendly and service first class, they went above and beyond to make our visit special. Thank you Francois for organising our boat trip it was a great day in the sunshine, and the reception girls who were so helpful and welcoming throughout our stay. I look forward to returning.

Ok. Hate being forced into writing something. But hotel is great. I’ve stayed here 4 times in the last 12 months. It is atmospheric but more importantly it’s clean. Tired and shabby in places but so more friendly and comfortable that the new and brash commercial places. The service is personal with no airs and graces. The breakfast can be very good at times — the sense of adventure is to be sought before expectations. The beds are very comfortable and surprisingly well made — we’ve all experienced 5* where the sheets ruck up — and the toiletries are definitely usable. The views of the river are desirable when booking a room as they are quieter. I love this hotel. And I have enjoyed one of the best sirloin steaks ever In the restaurant.

A very enjoyable two night stay: the room was great, staff very friendly and approachable, the food (breakfast and dinner) were good and you cannot beat the hotel for location ie the Palace is literally over the road and shopping at Kingston a short bus journey away. The place is a little ‘tired’ in places and parking limited but, overall, we would not hesitate to visit again.

We have just spent a lovely 3 days staying here. The rooms are spacious and clean. There is a great selection of tea and coffee. Rooms also have a fridge, safe and ironing board. The view of the River Thames is spectacular. Nice and close to Hampton Court, Hampton Court station and lots of lovely restaurants. Really happy.

Very good accommodation and situation but SERIOUS reservations about the restaurant!

Filthy rooms and unhelpful staff — still no response from the complaint I raised — strongly advise not to stay here as it needs shutting down.

Poor breakfast, if you want to go right then go to some cafe nearby, the hotel breakfast is not worth the money, worst Wi-fi works sometimes does not recommend this place.

Poor breakfast — inconsistent and limited in choice, coffee was labeled decaf and there wasn't an alternative. A number of staff were unhelpful to the point of being rude. Rooms are large, beds are comfortable but I was allocated a double after requesting a twin. No aircon in rooms, glasses in room were dirty and the bathroom has mould. Shouldn't be listed as 4 star — Premier Inns are superior.

Wonderful suite. Fantastic location. Staff who couldn't do more for you. Frankly, unmissable if you're in the area.

Went there for Sunday lunch. Service not good. The starters were lovely but my roast beef dinner was appalling. Couldn't eat the beef as mostly chunks help together by a large amount of fat. Should have been thinly sliced and no large fatty bits. I was really upset over the meat. Otherwise the staff were very accommodating though failed to stop the children who were running and climbing around our tables and pushing past us. We did complain to no avail.

Excellent hotel with very friendly staff located right across from Hampton Court Palace. Easy access to Heathrow via a bus local transport or by train into London. Excellent breakfast buffet.

Excellent location right next to Hampton Court Palace! Front desk staff was helpful with an early check in and provided us with a lovely room. The continental breakfastreakfast was amazing and so was the sausage! Get there a little early to get a seat by the windows as the restaurant overlooks the river which is quite relaxing! Would highly recommend if you're looking for a place to stay in the area!

The Mitre is a gem in Hampton Court. It’s charm and character are what sets it apart from those modern soulless hotels around. Staff are really helpful, attentive and polite. Nothing is too much trouble for them. I can say from experience that their wedding venue service is also brilliant. Everything you can ever want to take the stress out of the organisation of a wedding is catered for. Why go anywhere else. You get the benefit of the Hampton court backdrop without the Hampton Court premium.

Non existent service, waited 20 min, nobody came to take an order. Avoid. edit for Andy: My wife and her friend were at the terrace on Monday the 10th, around 1pm. It wasn't busy by all mean. She described the waiter as someone falling asleep. They were ignored, a couple of young women walked in and suddenly he was more awake. After being ignored for 20 min+, they walked out and enjoyed a lovely lunch next door at the Mute Swan.

The hotel is very old, no access for pushchair I have an 5 months old baby and I haft to carry her pushchair up and down on the stairs, the room above us was very noisy had a feeling that was elephants going on, we decided to have lunch on their restaurant was the poorest lunch ever had, just a jacket potato and half chicken for an 4 star restaurant, how this ppl got they stars is insane. Myself I do study tourism but I won’t recommend to anyone who have a baby, not pleased at all.

The room was great, the staff were very nice and the breakfast was tasty. The surrounding location was fantastic.

My partner and I went for brunch here, unfortunately we didn't actually end up eating. I ordered the haddock fish cakes. After waiting about 45 minutes, they brought me a battered hake… Not what I'd ordered at all. Apparently they had run out of fish cakes, so instead of telling me they just brought something completely different and at first tried to tell me that this was the fish cake. The staff are in need of training. The service was slow and not good and the manager seemed to be having a hissy fit behind the bar. All in all, this place has potential with it's lovely location, but it needs the staff to match.

Lovely views. Comfortable beds and large room with all amenities. Staff very attentive. Evening meal was excellent but breakfast a little cold. Will definitely return when in the area.

In a nice area opposite Hampton court and right on the river. The rooms were clean and well maintained, but unbelievably hot with no air-conditioning. The reception staff were very polite and helpful.

Parking was ok ish had to hand my keys into staff at reception as double parked. Not happy on handing them in on 67 plate tuscon however the main part of hotel was lovely and room was spacious. However half an hour with a broom and jet wash could be greatly needed in the run down forgotten a out courtyard at the back of our rooms. The courtyard that can be seen as you walk to the restaurant is spotless. If I had a broom I would have done it myself. Breakfast was good and the stay was ok.

Friendly staff, nice views, peaceful environment. Free parking was non existent, and the breakfast was not good. The 1st floor smelt of damp.

On arrival booked 2 rooms with early check in. None were ready and the customer service of the staff was not to any high standard Told by one member that I should call them to see if available still (I was supposed to have known that the person wanted a late check out day before) in my response I believe this is down to the staff and not the customer. Apart from 2 members of staff low customer service, other staff were friendly. Breakfast could be a little hotter as by time sat down with it everything was cold! Rooms are ok but in need of an upgrade. I always know not to believe what I see on some hotel websites aren't always the same photo, Photoshop is a wonderful thing :) All In all good situated Hampton court across the road, train station 5 mins away too. Would give it a 4 /5 but staffs attitude on arrival was the reason for low score.

Visited the hotel for a social event. Pleasant hotel in a lovely location next to the river. Bar service was very good and the staff were very courteous.

A lovely hotel with lots of character and directly opposite Hampton Court Palace. I was in room 308 — views over the river. Huge room and I really liked that it had a fridge, safe and coffee machine. I'm only giving it 4 stars as I had to check out at 0600 and there was no provision for an early breakfast and the plug sockets weren't ideally placed next to the bed.

Room was spacious, bathroom was a fairly good size. The disappointment was the fact we were kept up all night but the upstairs guest sounded like they were constantly walking round the room. Phone reception twice at 4:30am and was told they would do something but nothing was done as upstairs were still making a racket. We ended up not having a great sleep. Receptionist didn’t seem to care and we was offered nothing as a gesture. Wouldn’t come back here and wouldn’t recommend rooms on level 1.

Excellent food. Just there for dinner in the Brasserie. All three courses were very good. Very nice. Would definitely go back, maybe in summer, use the outside tables.

Parking is awkward but they can do valet parking. Nice big rooms with very creaky floors — it is a very old building! Great location opposite Hampton Court. Nice choice of breakfast. Only flaw is it took three attempts to get extra milk and tea delivered and the rooms are looking a little worn. However they are planning a refit. Very comfy bed and sofa in the room along with a desk, and free Wi-Fi. Will happily stay here again.

Staying in the room was peaceful and relaxing. Shower mixer didn't have a separate hose that was a bit difficult to wash. However, facilities at the room, included a fridge with mineral water and s coffee pod machine with a selection of coffees. Parking was a bit of challenge though.

Lovely hotel right on the river and across the road from Hampton Court Palace. Nice food but unfortunately have to pay extra to get a hot breakfast. It was nice getting a complementary glass of champagne on arrival. Room was nice and big with double doors onto a small courtyard. Bed was comfortable apart from gap in middle where singles had been pushed together to create a double. The worst part of our stay was on the second night when we had a fire alarm. It was the most disorganised situation. There was no sweeping of hotel to make sure it was clear, no communication from staff and people were just going in and out as they pleased. Took at least 20 minutes for fire brigade to be called and we were stuck standing out in the cold for at least 45 minutes. Very disappointed in this chaos. Staff need to be better trained in this sort of situation.

Our company uses the hotel occasionally for it's meeting rooms — they offer great spaces at a good price alongside brilliant service. Always happy to return here.

Great Location Not great Restaurant.

Beautiful location but expensive! I live locally and dropped by for a drink — £10 for a vodka and coke and so add insult to injury they poured half a bottle of coke into my glass and kept the other half (for the next customer maybe? )! Shame, I would be a regular customer if I didn't come out feeling ripped off.

Fabulous stay at The Mitre, the room was lovely, very comfortable and spotlessly clean. We had a meal in The Brasserie which was excellent, great food and good service. Breakfast was also very good. The lovely ladies on reception could not have been more helpful, and when we did have to ask for something it was there within minutes. We would definitely stay there again if in the area.

Staff were friendly and helpful to help make our stay more comfortable during what was a busy period. The hotel is well located to the river and Hampton court palace and is a great way to take in the beautiful local area.

Phoned up with a reference to book a room, took twenty minutes for me to get an answer to get told to "ring back later" being told that there was three rooms available, I asked to get one of these reserved so that I could book later, then rang up after finishing work to say that there are no rooms are available. Fantastic service! Got the feeling that the receptionist's didn't have a clue what they are doing. Thanks for ruining plans.

It's a nice place to bring people as has character, views and location. Food and drink is good but pricey — to be expected for the area — however they do a three course special for £18 which is good value for money and the staff are very friendly. Parking is limited, rooms are dated but are still nice, well appointed and they are refurbing.

We had just walked along the Thames Path from Richmond straight into a relaxing hot bath luxury. Breakfast was great set us up for the next days walking. Brill.

In general, a nice hotel with lovely staff. Breakfast was great with wonderful views of the Thames. Our room did have uneven floors which I'll take as a quirky part of old buildings. But our shower leaked like a sieve because there wasn't enough caulking around the one door.

Terrible hotel. No Air Conditioning in any of the rooms. It was so hot we couldn't sleep and got physically ill. We we supposed to stay in room 311. It also smelled really bad. I am guessing the smell is the plumbing. By 8:30 pm, it was too much for us (we were all sick and had headaches), so we left and found another hotel. I feel the hotel website should state there is no Air Conditioning available in the hotel. I feel the temperature in the room is unsafe/unhealthy for guests. It is a very old hotel that has never been updated.

We were in Kingston for the day and wanted a break for a drink. The hotel is situated across the road so was ideally located. We had drinks next to the river in the bar. It was a very nice location if a little pricey. Would of stayed for food but we had other arrangements.

It's in the perfect location opposite Hampton Court Palace, nice views over the river to give tourists the bonus of a nice day out and an acceptable meal. Even with the lowest of expectations of English cuisine, you will be disappointed.

This is a WONDERFUL Hotel! It is a GREAT location. The Hotel and Restaurant Staff were VERY FRIENDLY and Helpful! The rooms have all the amenities a chain hotel has, but this hotel has CHARM! I WILL stay there again and also recommend it to my colleagues. It made my trip a delight!

Nice place, but you must visit the riverside views and take in the ambience of the bar. If you do this untill intoxicated, the bill might not be so much of a blow as the prices are high.

This hotel could do with a bit of work on its bedrooms, which are decent sized but quite old-fashioned and tired looking. Restaurant food seems perfectly fine. No denying it's a fantastic location, opposite the palace, overlooking the river and moments from Bushy Royal Park, which probably explains the reluctance to update.

Thoroughly lacking in personality, the staff are soulless, and drinks over priced. Ale was kept well though.
