Really like this place, but only ever had a drink there, excepting wonderful evening meals on a Groupon voucher. ; Even though majority of tables in bar &garden were empty today, we still couldn't get a Sunday lunch without having booked. — so it's no good as an 'on-spec' place when you just fancy a meal out on the day. But presumably that means the meals are so good they can only give their full attention to those they know about on advance. So I hope to one day know what Im doing in advance enough to make a booking.

Had afternoon tea for 2 here and it was very nice. Staff were nice and friendly and very welcoming.

Nice evening but food not quite up to their usual standard. Don't let that put you off though. Am sure it was a one off.

Great as always. The Highworth sausages were great and as usual the steak was cooked perfectly. See you next week!

Really enjoyed my stay here, went here with a couple of friends, the food was incredible and the bar stayed open just that extra bit longer for us. The room was great, but there was a smell of damp from one of our bathrooms. This wouldn't put me off and I'd be happy to stay again.

It was alright, not the best place I been to but the scones went right through me and I had to use their toilets, which their toilets were spot on, so comfortable and clean and ain't nobody got time to poop in public. So for all those combined, I have to give max 3 stars.

Great food, decor, service was good. Definitely be back. Spotted private dining area on way in, mental note made for future celebration gatherings. Be careful if attempting to drive through archway/tunnel, I managed it in a X-Trail but it was tight, all part of the character!

Olde worlde, character hotel. Very comfortable rooms, nice breakfast. Mother's Day lunch ok, chocolates for all mums a nice touch.

Good place, the staff are nice but a little slow when serving. It was very busy when we were there. The car park is also ridiculously narrow, lots of scratch marks on the wall where cats haven't been lucky. Bed was very comfy and bathroom was nice and big but the room was quite dusty.

Last minute booking for table of 10 — we were given the private dining room complimentary — Beautiful room. Thank you Food — pre ordered as requested. The soup was a little disappointing, although it was very tasty, it was tepid, not piping hot as it should be. Our waitress seemed a little confused at times — she came in with the first main meal plates and said "is this your food" … umm, we don't know, what is it? … "I dunno" was the reply. Once we had sorted that out, she went off and came back with the next couple plates and announced "it looks like fish"… our guests who ordered fish (fish pie) motioned it was theirs, only to find it was Thai green curry… we didn't bother ordering deserts…

The food was nice but some staff require more training. The food was up to par and the wine was good. It was a bit downed by the waitress walking in with the food and asking "is this your order"? I don't know, what is it? "Fish"? … it was chicken.

Good service. Made us feel very welcome. My suite was lovely. Enjoyed my stay.

Really enjoy going here — lovely surroundings, good food drinks. I recommend the prosecco cocktails.

Fantastic Sunday roast, couldn't fault the food. However the way it is priced means I would think twice about going for Sunday lunch again. They only offer a 2 and 3 course option. I would only ever have one course when having a roast. Despite asking for a discount for just one course I was charged for 2 courses which makes it an expensive Sunday lunch.

Our stay here was a complete disaster. No one told us at the time of booking they had a function on that evening. The family room is right above the function room and we were all kept up till 12pm with the noise. We have two small children and had stayed there so we were close to a sports event we were competing in the next day. Food here was also disappointing and the car park behind the hotel is down a very narrow lane. Staff did their best under the circumstances.

Visited as had been given an afternoon tea voucher. The main seating area was in a conservatory that was cool and drafty, but building was was being undertaken, so this may be a temporary issue. The gents toilets, however, were particularly bad. Afternoon tea was minimal and low quality, however the one member of staff we spoke to was attentive. I wish them well, but won't be returning.

Great as usual. We usually go on Thursday for steak night. £33 quid for two pretty good steaks and a bottle of wine. Everyone there is so welcoming and the decor is lovely!

Took the family for a Sunday lunch. Between us we ordered the roast Beef and the roast chicken. All meals were beautifully cooked and presented. Staff were exceptionally polite and courteous, nice warm atmosphere within the restaraunt, which in turn was very nicely decorated. Will definitely be going again :)

Recently refurbished, very modern Bs tidy. Friendly staff great food and a nice bar and great outdoor garden to chill in.

Good was okay but the service was good.

Popped in for drinks and to meet friends staying there. A lovely place with interesting and unusual architecture. Friends got a room free upgrade due to a minor room defect and were very happy too.

Thursday steak night is great. The wine is great, the prices are great. My wife and I visit whenever we can!

Our best up class local, love the food, drinks, venue and staff. It's our place when we want to treat ourselves.

Very comfortable rooms, food excellent. Only issue was noise from the bar downstairs, but earplugs sorted that.

Great food, service and rooms — the Highworth really looked after us. We booked in late after being let down by another venue.

I was amazed at the attention to detail and wonderful atmosphere at The Highworth Hotel, nothing was too much trouble.
