Lovely overnight stay while visiting the Christmas Market. Very helpful and knowledgeable staff. Great breakfast too.

We took over the whole hotel a year ago as reserved all the rooms in advance for all wedding guests staying from far away. Communication was good, lovely clean rooms, fab breakfast and our stay was great! Thank you Stjohn.

Clean, well presented small hotel close to centre of Gloucester. Good breakfasts and comfortable rooms.

Nice, quaint hotel. I must admit when I first arrived I was ready to leave and find an alternative hotel. I am glad I stayed and gave it a chance. This is a hotel with A LOT of character. The historical landscape of the town is scattered all over the walls along winding corridors, and the owner has so much knowledge and advice to help you make the most of your stay. I did a tour of the old town. Ate at a lovely Indian restaurant on my first night, and a great place by the Docks on my second. All recommended by the owner. The breakfast was delicious, they cater for veggies. :-) Not all too common for midrange hotels. You will see the odd one or two workmen staying there as well but I think it shows the accommodating nature of the hotel. Rooms are clean, although my bedding wasn't quite to my liking. Friendly staff, although one lady was a bit grumpy to begin with. Overall, if you're looking for somewhere relatively close to the centre of the historic town this is a good place to settle for a few days. It's certainly interesting.

An ideal place for an overnight stay in Gloucester. The room is adequate with a comfortable bed. The shower is small with low water force. The biggest concern was the electric sockets. My partner blistered her finger when accidentally touching the top pin of the plug when removing it from the socket.

If you are tired of modern, plastic hotels and you are looking for a genuine place to stay then this is it. Comfortable and quaint rooms, friendly, helpful and courteous staff and a full English Breakfast to boot! Highly recommended.

Lovely hotel room comfy & clean good breakfast friendly staff only downside was pillows were very hard.

Service was efficient, rooms were clean/modern and the food was excellent. The parking was a bit hard to find but the directions worked.

Don’t be put off by the 2 star rating. The comfort, food and service are as good as any 3/4 star hotel. I’d recommend this hotel to anyone.

Just returned from a long weekend with my partner, already booked for next Easter, warm welcome, clean room, very good breakfast for my partner, and a very good gluten free breakfast for me, staff were friendly and helpful, good facilities and car parking, thanks to all at Edward hotel,,,,, Keith jellyman and Eve Richards, see you soon.

Room was really hot despite turning off the radiator and having the window open all night. Breakfast was ok. Host was a tad frosty! Room clean but wouldn't be in a hurry to come back.

We have stayed at the Edward Hotel for many years, for weekends and full weeks. We have always been looked after very well. The Owners are very friendly, welcoming and nothing is to much trouble. A Fantastic choice for Breakfast, nice clean rooms with very comfortable Beds.

Good off road parking, food and rooms are ok.

My husband and I staid for one night. Was a wonderful exsperience. For a 2 star hotel definitly felt more of a 3 star+. Room we staid in was very clean, spacious, and had a homelike feel. Bathroom was big and better then some 4 star hotels we have staid at. Wonderful sitting ares and decor. Also close to the center were it walking distence to many attrations. I would definitly recomend to anyone staying in gloucester.

Basic accomodations with friendly staff. There is a maze of stairs inside and you'll hear your neighbors walking on them. Otherwise, it's quiet enough and it's a good value.

Booked in last minute just for one night on the way back from Cornwall and was upgraded by the manager to room 25… lovely big comfy bed and spotless room.
The manager himself was very helpful and obliging and took time to point us in the right direction for places to eat and a bit of site seeing.
Would definately stay again.

Nice and clean, friendly staff, had a budget room, perfectly adequate for a nights stay. The breakfast was just perfect, the sausages! Local and handmade, just perfect.

Stayed here for visiting family and a shopping trip great location 10 minute walk into town, we had a lovely room (no7) great breakfast to! will defiantly be returning soon!

A very pleasant hotel conveniently located for my work. Comfortable beds. Good sized rooms and very quiet at night. The car park was very handy given how tricky it is to park in the locality and the breakfast was delicious. They don't serve dinner, but the nearby England's Glory pub has a range of good food at keen prices and the hotel manager can recommend a dozen or so good restaurants if you fancy venturing towards the dock area. (Tank is a good place to go for burgers and a great range of local ales)

Stayed in room 17 which was great for a family. Room could have been a little cleaner (especially under the beds) hence the 4 star rating. Lovely garden which we made use of. Good breakfast, nice sausages. We felt the man checking us in (who was possibly the owner) could've been friendlier/warmer. We would definitely return and definitely recommend others. Very close to town centre and good value for money.

Pros: Nice little hotel. Staff are friendly and proactively helpful. Breakfast was good. Wi-Fi is strong. We stayed at the top of the hotel and had good signal. Housekeeping was excellent including the lovely touch of laying out the children's pyjamas on the bed. The gardens at the back are well maintained and peaceful. Cons: No lifts and quite a lot of stairs to climb. Car park is small and parking is tight.

We arrived late but was greeted politely and given advice on the local amenities. Bed was comfy and the room pleasant. Went for breakfast at 9.30 sat down and was overlooked for about 25 mins with waiting staff just walking past us. Kindly asked one of the staff if we could order breakfast. She apologised and quickly brought us tea and our breakfast. Breakfast full English was lovely.

Lovely weekend stay upgraded to a superior room free of charge. Staff lovely. Great location. Room spacious and had everything in it I could need. Breakfast was fab. Will definitely stay again.

My experience has been awesome on a number of occasions the staff are always friendly and professional. The accommodation has lots of character clean tidy and well priced it's central to everything train station, Rugby stadium and town centre is only 10 minutes away well worth a check and very good food. Truly awesome. Almost forgot the bed is very comfortable.

The Edward hotel is one of the nicer hotels I've stayed in whilst on business. Its only half a mile away from the town centre and close to local shops and takeaways. The hotel has a real rustic charm to it and the double room that I stayed in was spacious enough and was of good decor. The staff are very friendly and made me feel welcome straight away and even upgraded my room to a larger one for free at check in. Breakfast was included with my stay and there is a wide choice of cereals, juices or cooked options served by very attentive staff. There is also a room with microwave and fridge available to guests to use as they please. The Wi-Fi is free and has a strong signal around the hotel. There is also a car park available to the rear of the hotel for guests to use. All In all, I've had a very comfortablewouldn't four night stay at the Edward hotel and wouldntnight hesitate to stay again!

The room was very comfortable and breakfast was tasty with very good service. The bar area is a nice place to chill with a drink and friends, although it is quite small. Check in and check out were both very smooth.

Stayed at this gem of a hotel in April and what a find. The Edward guest house is an original. From the moment I booked (online and forgot to add the 10% discount so rang and they very kindly still applied it) the service and experience was exceptional. The bedrooms have been tastefully decorated; the beds are so comfortable I had two nights undisturbed sleep, unusual when staying away from home. Had requested a room at the back of the building as the hotel does sit on the London Road and it was very quiet. We were able to open the window at night. The bathroom was clean; the shower could be a little snug for some but a good spray and plenty of hot water. The breakfast room is light and airy looking over the garden and patio area which would be a pleasant place to sit in the summer. The choice at breakfast was extensive and the cooked breakfast was just the right amount. The cosy area at the back of the breakfast room look very inviting and made me wish the weather was colder so the fire was on and I could just curl up there with a book. The reception was well stocked with information about Gloucester and the surrounding area and the owner also very knowledgeable about the local. Originally chose the hotel for its location, 10 minute walk from Kingsholme Stadium, as we were going to watch Gloucester play Newcastle on the Saturday but it is also only a 10 minute walk to the centre of town and 15 minutes to the dock area where there is a broad range of shops and eateries.

Fantastic experience all round! Great service from the staff. Very well looked after. Great breakfast and a great nights sleep in a bed made for a king. Will be booking again soon for sure.

Friendly and reasonably priced. Convenient for the city centre and, most importantly, Kingsholm — being about 10 mins walk away. The accommodation was good and the breakfast also.

The hotel is in a dreadful area, I passed several groups of drunks on my walk from the train station, obviously this is not the fault of the hotel. The hotel is REALLY shabby, it is desperately in need of updating — the shower in my room hardly worked and the tray completely cracked. I ordered my supper at 7.15 and it arrived at 8.45 to my room (it is encouraged that if you are a single traveller you eat your meal in your room — appalling! ). The supper was disgusting and obviously burnt, breakfast was equally dreadful. I was continually hassled to settle my bill from arrival, I thought it normal to pay on checkout! It is obviously a budget hotel but my word stay at the Holiday Inn or similar, this is without doubt the most appalling hotel that I have ever stayed in.
