Such a beautiful hotel and amazing staff.

Lovely people right in the heart of the town… fantastic room looking over the old church Best kept secret in town.

I know this place a beautiful but 2 days ive left messages on the spa number to book in for some treatments and no one has called back I have left messages but no on ehas called me back. So I call the receptionist and say I can't seem to get an amswer from the spa ive left messages so they they say they will make sure someone gets hold of us today. Still no one has called back. So even though I recommended this place I would definitely try and improve on people getting back to customers otherwise I can see you losing customers.

What a brilliant find! Really lovely hotel, friendly and attentive staff and a really lovely atmosphere. Great food in both MBB and the Grill and the barman makes a mean espresso martini! 👌 They really do that little extra…Definitely worth a visit. We’ll be back.

At Kings Head Hotel, attentive, professional and charming staff work in an environment which sublimely juxtaposes the luxurious and the rustic. Tantalising evening cocktails were succeed by a morning of relaxing spa treatments — a perfectly indulgent way to end the trip. Our stay here was everything we expected, and more. Thank you.

This hotel unfortunately did not live up to it’s reputation. Yet it has the potential to be quite wonderful. The build itself is stunning. Most of the staff are very friendly and accommodating. We arrived quite late and felt the room was a little chilly, so we put the heating on whilst we went to dinner. Only one starter came. We waited thinking another was on it’s way, but were told we thought you only wanted one to share? Another starter was produced but by this time my partners had gone cold. Bad start but hey mistakes happen… Unfortunately my main course had not been seasoned at all. Ox cheeks are supposed to be full of flavour. It was completely tasteless, I didn’t eat it. Asked if I’d like it replaced by something else but as I didn’t want my partners to go cold again waiting and for myself to eat alone. We shared and ordered some extra bread. Not the romantic meal we had expected. The waitress was very apologetic and said she removed it from the bill. But when it came to pay the manger was very rude and abrupt. She said she had not agreed to remove it. No apology. We returned to our room to find the heating was not working at all but had been blowing out cold air. It was only one degree outside so you can image it was very cold. We phoned down to reception several times, left message but nobody came back to us so we went down and eventually were advised to move rooms.

What a cracking hotel Lovely location Couldn't fault the staff, all helpful and friendly. We ate at the brasserie and had breakfast in the hotel and the food was fantastic. Our room and all the decor was also very nice, I loved the exposed stone and brickwork and just the whole rustic feel of the place, lovey log burner in the bar too. I was worried about parking after reading some reviews, but there's a massive car park, literally just around the corner, which isn't expensive either, you can pull up outside the hotel to drop your bags off before you go and park. We would love to go back as we didn't have much time to explore the local area and we will definitely be staying at The Kings Head Hotel We had a lovely time Many Thanks Stuart.

Was one of the most reasonable hotels to stay in for a last minute trip, room was lovely and spacious, clean, modern and breakfast although pricey very nice too.

Very friendly staff, great service in a beautiful building. Would highly recommend even just to sit in the the lounge with a good book and a glass of Sauvignon.

Beautiful bedroom, we booked a feature room, it has a long balcony overlooking the church and Main Street. Large en-suite too.
Staff all very friendly and attentive.
Wonderful breakfast and great food in the evenings.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay this weekend, from the minute we entered the building we felt safe and were reassured that Covid was still something they were taking very seriously (sanitiser dotted throughout reception, guest manager sanitised before handing us anything & wiped down the card machine in front of us etc). The feature room we had booked was perfect and even better than the pictures! The exposed brick wall and large bathroom were stunning! We were provided with a suggested route and places to visit guide which was great and all the staff were lovely. We also ate in the MBB brasserie which served great food, the only thing we would change was how quick the service was in MBB, the staff were rushed off their feet but actually we would have preferred it if they just slowed down a bit it as we would prefer for our dinner to take up slightly more of the evening. Overall, couldn't recommend this place enough, perfectly located on the market place, the Guest Manager was fantastic and the hotel is beautifully decorated.

Not sure what you are doing with the sign on the bar as all your staff are still serving at the bar with the notice Saying table service only.

Two courses for £16 and probably the nicest two meals I’ve eaten in Cirencester (and I’m not easily pleased). Definitely worth trying out this restaurant, I will be dining here again for sure.

Overpriced, and service lacking.
We visited recently as a treat for my boyfriend’s birthday, so I’d paid for the upgraded room. It really wasn’t worth the money — I’m not sure what the extra paid for except a slightly larger room, which was lacking some basics (like drawers! ).
Lots of little issues, some of which were rectified once raised, but the service was really lacking. The staff, although mostly friendly, always seemed on the back foot. Teamwork didn’t seem intuitive and guests didn’t seem to come first — each appeared to be assigned their own specific role, and even when we were waiting (to be seated at breakfast, for example), other staff didn’t deviate to help where busy. One was cutting fruit in the bar, another lighting the fire, another topping up (already half full) fruit juice — leaving us waiting 10 minutes to be shown to a table.
Sadly put a bit of a dampener on an otherwise lovely weekend. We won’t be back.

We've just spent a fabulous Christmas at the King's Head Hotel. The staff were fabulous — couldn't do enough for us and worked so hard, always with a smile. Friendly service — fabulous food — and the most beautiful, beamed room — a dream of a stay. Thank you all so much for everything.

Accoustics and lighting need to be sorted. The spa treatments are too expensive. No customer parking. The rooms are over priced, either too cold or not hot enough. The bar serves okay drinks but far too over priced. Would not recommend at all.

Excellent nights stay in room 222. A very large room that is fantastic. We had a great dinner and both the duck and beef meals outstanding — highly recommend this hotel and the restaurant if staying in the area.

We held our wedding here yesterday and what can I say. We love this place so much the venue is absolutely amazing. I cannot thank Phoebe and Alex enough for all their help, the day ran so smoothly. The food was beautiful and our room for the night was incredible. All the staff at the hotel were so friendly and helpful and couldn’t do enough for us. Unfortunately my experience with this hotel is awful. I thought twice about posting a detrimental review but given the dis-interest by this hotel and its Insurers I feel other patrons need to know this. On June the 21st I met with some friends for lunch. We chose to eat on the roof terrace which is accessed via a lift. When we came to leave we were advised an "Out of Order" sign had been placed on the lift door because some people will leave via the lift without paying. As we are all ladies of a certain age that was never going to happen. Having come down the stairs in to a dimly lit area I tripped and fell on a step which resulted in a broken wrist. I made several calls to this hotel after I had been seen by my doctor, there was little or no interest. I eventually had contact from their insurers to whom I gave my Doctor, Minor Injuries Unit and Trauma Unit phone numbers and contact details. Two months later they have decided to ask for a witness. We are still no closer to a resolution. I have now put my case to the Insurance and Financial Ombudsman.

A surprisingly big place with very generous sized rooms. Reception area is very nice with a view of what can only be described as a Roman mosaic Under the floor. The bar and Resteraunt area are very comfortable and really pleasant place to sit and relax. We had a standard room which was exceedingly quiet and comfortable. The bed was just right for us, as were the pillows. Breakfast was served in the Resteraunt and the menu choice was enough for the most discerning palat. Overall I found no down side to this hotel. Situated in the centre of town you need not worry about walking to get anywhere. It's right on the door step.

Possibly the greatest mattress you will ever sleep on.
Love the rooms in this place. The spa and pregnancy massage for my fiancée scored me maximum points. The bar area is ok, but doesn’t feel particularly well thought out. The restaurant also feels more like it is filling space rather than the space was created for the restaurant. I got a puncture on the way and so arrived later than planned, but they refused to serve us food (who closes a restaurant before 10pm? ) We did eat in the hotel on the second night, but we found the food at Made By Bob in the little shopping arcade next door, to be better. I’d stay there again for the beds, but would probably eat somewhere else.

Lovely hotel and restaurant with great quality food and spa. Any concerns are dealt with immediately. Food portions are massive but is also of an extremely high standard. Everyone is pleasant and helpful. Spa is intimate and comfortable. Booking process for the Spa weekend consisted of a few calls and was a bit of a pain, but so glad we persisted. Location of the hotel is literally in the centre of the town where the markets are… most convenient location possible. Pubs, market, antiques, unique shops and mainstream shops all within sight. All in all, I would highly recommend this hotel and will definitely return.

We stayed here on a Sunday evening — absolutely amazing experience. Very high end rooms — clean and well appointed. A great deal of money has clearly gone into the renovation works here. Lovely breakfast with very attentive staff — especially the lady who seemed to be in charge of the morning service. Would highly recommend.

Very nice hotel. It is extremely good for a 3 hotel. The bedroom I was in was a good size with nice big beds (twin room). The bath/shower was very good. Nice powerful shower. The only thing that could be added to the room would be USB charging points on the sockets, otherwise I could want for nothing. The breakfast was top notch. Great choice of continental and cooked breakfast.

Really great place to stay. The food was hugely enjoyable on both nights and the atmosphere lively. We had lovely drinks at the bar as well. The room was perfect, very well decorated and equipped. Can't fault it! Location of hotel is perfect for exploring the town, we will be back!

We have just returned from a stay here. We had a really positive experience and a lovely stay. All staff we encountered were friendly. Our room was lovely. We had booked a spa session as advised on their website. The spa is small and intimate and really enjoyable we also used the small but well equipped gym. We didnt use the restaurant as being mid week it was very quiet and so we wanted somewhere with a bit of atmosphere which was easy to find 3 min walk away. We did use the bar which was gorgeous sat by the fire. Breakfast was superb and service was great. Thank you I will definitely visit again.

I would love to give this place 5 stars. The hotel was beautiful, with an ideal location right on the high street with views of the impressive church. The whole building has been wonderfully designed, from the modern but relaxed bar/restaurant, the brick work underground passage ways, to the large stylish rooms with both a bath and walk-in shower. The reception and restaurant staff were also very friendly. Sounds too good to be true? Sadly for us it was. There were several dissapointments that although small, ruined our stay. 1. On arrival I phoned to ask where we could park and was told the 7 spaces available were all full, and was directed to the pay and display across town. As this was a trip for my partners birthday the journey down the high street laden with gifts wasn't a relaxing start. On checking in I asked if we could book one of the spaces for the rest of our stay to be told it was £15 a day. Personally this is something I think should be clear on the site. We decided to stay in the pay and display which was 6.50 a day. (If you choose to park here we found a short cut on our final day that goes from directly opposite the hotel to the car park. From the car park keep the shops on your left and head towards the residential buildings. ) 2. On arrival we asked to use the Spa but were told you needed to reserve a slot. This was not referenced in our secret escapes booking. They told us to call the spa to find out the next available slot, but no one answered.

Excellent location in the centre of Cirencester. Hotel has rooms for functions, a large lounge and a nice rooftop terrace for when the weather is nice. Service is mixed, with not enough staff behind the bar. Rooftop terrace bar is pretty much never open, even when the weather is fabulous. Forcing you to go up and down the stairs for drinks. Not a major problem, but could be easily overcome by having someone on call when a customer rings the bell. Overall an ok place, but needs more staff, and possibly some more regular maintenance here and there.

Really good place for food and great service. Decor is excellent. Only issue I would mention was a lack of choice on the menu.

Very stylish but relaxed decor & atmosphere. The room we had was amazing — freestanding copper bath tub in room was very luxurious! The bed was huge & comfy. However, the wet room shower drains very slowly & does tend to flood the floor! (It wouldn't stop us staying there again though. ) The spa is great with hot tub/jacuzzi, steam room & sauna followed by chilling on the 5 relaxation beds with blankets. You may have to share with other people though.

Gorgeous rooms, an incredibly comfy bed and fantastic service from staff throughout. Both dinner and breakfast were amazing! Perfect for a special occasion or a treat.

There is no way that the vegetarian option was of similar cost to the meat (despite a set price per head), and the fish was shockingly small. Everyone on my table was equally unimpressed. The desert took ages to be brought out and none of the staff informed us that tea/coffee was available outside the main room, meaning we all wondered if there was going to be any and then only saw it when we left. The DJ was frankly a bit embarrassing (nothing to do with the music) and the acoustics in the hall made it very difficult to hear what anyone was saying. While the staff were fine, no effort was made to smile and several of them weren't wearing a uniform — one man looked like a guest who was clearing plates, and a women was just wearing a jumper — that's not a big deal but it just looked so odd when others were in shirts and aprons. A lot of this I could have shrugged off if the price was £10-20 per head, but I think they should be ashamed to charge £30 each for this, with expensive drinks on top. This was supposed to be a treat for myself and my partner, but we wasted our money! There are multiple far superior places to have a work Christmas party in Cirencester (and cheaper too).

Beautiful rooms, food and wine lovely and very helpful and friendly staff. The hotel is right in the centre of Cirencester so easy to get around also.

The location is excellent and the hotel, bar and restaurant all look excellent. I stayed in one of the apartments and I highly recommend it: spacious, clean and comfy. Service with a smile throughout and the one meal of room service I tried was great.

Ok, so the food was good. Not amazing, but good. The SERVICE however was AWFUL. Our mains came quickly but we had to remind them that we had ordered drinks. After our mains were taken away and no-one approached us for a long time we then asked for the desert menu. Again, no-one came to take our order so I grabbed a girl and asked if we could order. She was in the middle of serving someone else so said she would come and take the order shortly. She then walked past us six times, making sure to ignore eye contact. We got utterly fed up and decided we didn't want desert anymore. Again no-one came for us to pay so we walked over to the till. The waiter who was stood there was inputting orders into the till and didn't once look up to acknowledge we were there. We stood and waited for a good 3-4 mins before he finished, looked up and told us he 'wasn't trained to print receipts' and that he would go and get his colleague. By this point we were considering just walking out, after all no-one seemed to notice we were there, so they wouldn't have noticed us walking out! Really disappointing for what should be such a nice restaurant!

Food excellent. Wine delicious. Cheese board tasty, however never enough crackers. Did ask for more and this was no problem. Really lovely decor. Prices on the more expensive side but food worth the value. Just note they charge a 10% surcharge on top of your bill.

Excellent food and drink. I've only ever been there for two private functions, but both were catered wonderfully, and the bar service was excellent. Highly recommended!

The best cuisine for miles around — not inexpensive but top notch. Trendy, modern decor and good staff make for an excellent evening.

The room was very comfortable and well appointed. The decoration in the room as well as the public areas was very pleasant. The staff were charming and tried very hard to be helpful although they struggled with so many people trying to check out by the 11am deadline on a Sunday.

Lovely place very clean lots of character dog friendly and disable friendly too. Food was amazing and the spa was beautiful with lots of treatments on offer.

A lovely hotel in the centre of Cirencester. The room was very nice, quiet and spacious. The food and service in the restaurant was excellent. For my evening meal I had the burger and whilst this sounds simple, the burger itself was very nice and filling. The breakfast was probably the best hotel breakfast I've had — the ingredients were sourced locally and the food on the plate was very well laid out (not dumped on the plate or mixed up).

Stunning building and location… staff were friendly. Food was fantastic. A little way from running a tight ship but we appreciated the experience. It was our honeymoon and weren't given any special additions which was a shame but hopefully we'll be able to give 5 stars at our next visit.

Loved it here. Went for afternoon tea and left happy. While portion sizes were s little small for me (I'm a big guy) it was delicious and staff were very friendly. Would definitely go again.

We got an amazing room. Decided to upgrade to a suite and worth the money. Hotel is greatly located, right in the center of town, with shops and restaurants around it, and within walking distance of most local attractions. Staff is very friendly and verify accommodating. Bar gets busy but nice atmosphere. The restaurant, though, leaves a lot, really a lot to be desired… We've been to many posh places so fancy, well prepared as presented food is not foreign to us. Here, though, portions were ridiculously small (my fiancee had scallops for a starter, she got two scallops), my oysters were probably the most tasteless I've ever had, and the mains, it's almost like whomever decided the menu is trying too hard to be innovative that it just becomes weird. One of us had the plaice, which came with chicken on it (really? Why? ) and the other had the pork belly that came with braised beef (again, why) and all such small portions that almost felt like I only got the pork be… Felt like asking where was the lly… Great hotel, honestly. I'd stay here again, the restaurant, unless the menu/chef improves, probably not…

Spent one night at the Kings Head for a couples get away and wish I'd spent the entire weekend! The rooms were large and spacious, well decorated and the was comfortable. Bathroom was also very large with a separate bath tube and shower. The hotel is located in town centre so it's easy to walk and get around and enjoy this unique market town. Parking in front the hotel can fill up quick but I do recommend booking online and parking at The Waterloo, just 5 minutes from the hotel. Reception staff were very friendly and accommodating, they let me check out an hour later as I misunderstood what time checkout was!

Great location in the middle of town, me and a couple of friends were looking for a nice place to drink and fancied a cocktail… Having walked by and seen they have a new cocktail menu we thought we'd pop in. We asked for a drinks list and was told that they aren't doing cocktails tonight, we asked why not — especially as the blackboard behind the bar said to ask about the list, and we were told, quite simply, 'because we're not'. So fair to say, we thought the member of staff working that night should not have been working with the public. We all have bad days, but maybe don't bring that temper to work when serving people. The bar itself is very well set up with great decor throughout. I'm not in Cirencester that often but should I be back I may check who's working behind the bar as to whether I give it another go.

Nice small hotel in a lovely part of the country.

I attended The King's Head Hotel as part of a celebratory dinner. The service was as to be expected but there were some snags. We had all booked in our meals in advance and as such we were disappointed when the seasonal vegetables, which were meant to accompany the main course, did not arrive. When this was mentioned, which was very soon after the course was brought, they then only arrived once the mains had been finished. This led us to believe that they had been forgotten and only prepared once mentioned. The same problem occurred again when the desserts arrived. The 5 members of the 12 person party who had ordered a lemon posset did not receive one for a good 10-15 minutes after the other desserts were served. They arrived as though only just unfrozen and so it seems that they too had been forgotten. In terms of the food itself, the party was rather underwhelmed, and as some of those present had eaten lunch there previously, and had a pretty good meal, there was something for comparison. On the plus side, the bread was really quite good.

Our daughter booked me and my wife for a cream tea for our 30 wedding anniversary and we brought two of friends along to share the experience, well we were very disappointed with what we got, one pot of tea for three and one coffee which so strong by the time our friend added milk to to weaken it was luke warm, three very small sandwiches each, two pieces of cake each and one scone each total cost for four £ 60.00 Not happy, you get better value at Harrods in London or Millie & Me at Brixham in Devon.

Had Sunday roast lunch there, good quality food in a nice setting. Random celebrity spot as well as Roger Moore (ie James Bond! ) was having lunch two tables over from us! Definitely would come back.

Excellently located hotel on the edge of Cirencester (about 30 minutes walk into the centre). A little drab in its decor throughout and could do with a bit of modernisation. The staff were friendly enough but their knowledge of the local area was limited. Breakfast was good.

Attended a wedding at the hotel. Was a very good day although the announcer got the couples name wrong when showing them into the wedding breakfast.

We stayed for our honeymoon and were given a beautiful room. Booked through Mr and Mrs Smith so a gin tray was waiting in our room. Staff were super friendly and helpful. Room was huge and clean. Lovely sleep. Air con and computer smart tv! Will be returning for definite!

I was at the Kings head for after dinner drinks whilst on my leaving do at work. The bar was lovely and the staff were very friendly and accommodating. I would thourghly recommend going there.

Afternoon Tea. Very Disappointed in the service and food. The scones looked like they were purchased from the corner shop! The cake selection was poor and tasteless. Although the sandwiches were fresh they were very minimal. The service when we arrived was practically non existent! It seemed an inconvenience to be acknowledged by this person. The younger lady who served our tea was pleasant & friendly enough, but never checked if we were ok the whole time we were there. I had to get up and leave the elderly lady I was with to ask for a tea top up! The gardens were lovely to look at, some the seating in the lounge area was grimey and in need of a wash. Would not recommend or go there again!

The poor attention to detail and service often let the hotel down. Often there is at least one dirty glass in a round of drinks, staff don't know the products they are serving, the bar to is wet and the stock is not complete. Eg on my last visit I ordered a gin and tonic. There was no normal tonic, only diet or lemon!

Good meeting venue. Nice rooms and food as well. Recommended.

Worst stay and terrible customer service. We stayed here on Easter Sat got a room with a view of a building site hardly relaxing. Was promised a table for dinner in the bar area as we had our dog and was told at 7pm it was no longer available & to go dine elsewhere. After a lot of complaining was seated at 8pm next to the restaurant reservations desk where nearly every customer was complaining. The restaurant manager was yelling at a female barmaid it was the most awful ambience and certainly not a relaxing dinner. They never offered any compensation and was rude from start to finish. I would avoid this place like the plague…

Room 204 was lovely, spacious with a great bathroom, best hotel room I have been in.

Great decor, varied service, very helpful receptionist.

Lovely hotel, but forgot meal on room service, had to ring twice. Then at breakfast forgot to bring things again twice after we asked. Just little things but annoying. Needs a closer car park I'm disabled and nowhere close to park over night.
