Thanks for a fantastic takeaway dinner last night, amazing sea bass and the brownie sundae was a huge hit with our daughter and we may have helped her out with it too!

Took my mum for dinner last week. Fantastic Menu — so varied and lots to choose from. Scallops were delicious. My mother had the Duck on the specials and it was the most tastey duck I have ever tasted — wish I ordered it! friendly Waitress, service with a smile. Was lovely to be greeted by the Manager and for him to check we were happy — don't often get that. Would and have recommended and will definitely be returning!

The Staff were really polite, friendly and well presented, which made it a lovely atmosphere, the food was superb, lots to choose from the menu! I thoroughly enjoyed my visit, I will be back!

Had a fabulous gin tasting/dinner at the Blue Anchor last night. A very enjoyable experience and would thoroughly recommend. The food and drink were excellent. Unfortunately the service was incredibly slow, although the dining rooms were not full; our 'quick' lunch took two hours twenty minutes. However the staff were very pleasant and helpful. The portions were really quite small, and although well presented, somehow lacked taste! Nothing wowed us, in the taste stakes — sorry. We did not particularly enjoy the food, nor consider it value for money, and would not return for a meal.

My parents just had a function there for about 20 people. Food was nice and staff were well trained. Would recommend it as a place to eat.

Impressive food all cooked to perfection and packed with flavour. Venue was traditional and looked clean and tidy. Toilets (gents) were clean and in good repair. Staff friendly, polite and professional. Thought some well placed background music may have benefited the general atmosphere a little.

Brought a Groupon deal for here but was not as advertised and was given a limited menu on a printed piece of paper. Staff not very friendly at all in only taking our orders with no checking to see if everything was okay with the food etc. It seemed as if because we had a Groupon deal we didn't really matter as much. Would I return. Unlikely although the food was pretty good. It is worth full menu price… no as much better friendlier local options close by.

Taken here to celebrate a 50th wedding anniversary. Very nice food with a some good daily specials.

I was looking for a while for a good restaurant that not only had decent vegetarian options but that could also cater for my nut allergy, somewhere special to celebrate my birthday. After looking at 5 different places I decided to go for The Blue Anchor as it had a very nice menu. We went for lunch today and it didn't disappoint. In fact the food, staff and atmosphere were amazing! The Blue Anchor is a lovely characterful building and we felt welcomed instantly! I will definitely return! I will also be recommending to my friends. If there were a few more veggie/vegan options I would be able to recommend to even more of my friends but having said that, compared to a lot of places, they do cater for different diets very well! Thank you for making my birthday special.

Nice cosy restaurant with olde world charm, menu is varied with something for everyone, suited for families and couples, plenty of parking and good facilities. Cleanliness and staff at a very high level.

Have been here twice in a week. Once in the lovely function room for my daughter's 50th Prosecco Afternoon Tea (excellent food and very good and attentive service) and then for a meal on Mother's Day. Had an excellent three course meal. The food was excellent and so was the wine. This a large restaurant but designed in such a way that it doesn't feel like. The service was extremely good (attentive without being intrusive). The food was delicious! Will certainly be going there again soon for a family Sunday Lunch. They have a couple of large tables in alcoves which would accommodate a family of ten.

Lovely food but really poor service. We were not asked if we'd like drinks after the first one then were ignored after mains finished. No offer of desert menu, gave up waiting and went up to bar to pay at which time were asked if we were checking in! Not good at all. Such a shame.

I have been on several occasions and always been disappointed. The food is pub quality however they act as if it's gastro pub, but the service and food just doesn't live up to that. The service is never great either, it's not bad I just don't feel it warrants the price.

Had a family meal for 10 to celebrate a birthday. Could not fault the food and service. Pleasant and attentive staff and everyone enjoyed the various meals chosen. Quiet and comforting atmosphere when we visited mid afternoon. Plenty of parking opposite. Probably best to book like we did rather than just turn up. Would happily visit again.

We sent the scallops back three times because they were cold and raw in the centre, I gave up asking for them in the end. A friends steak was not cooked medium as requested and was almost still twitching it was so raw. The atmosphere is nice, though the staff could do with being trained with customer service. The bill was corrected to reflect the letdowns.

Came here for my father's birthday the food was amazing the staff are very attentive overall fantastic meal would definitely recommend to everyone else to go and try.

Entertainment was great irie j. Food was ok, however one of our party ordered the steak at a supplement which was ok, but she asked the waitress if she could swap grilled tomatoes for Onion rings as she did not want the tomatoes at all, the waitress said she would ask, but when she came back with the food she said the chef would not let her swap but she could pay extra for the Onion rings if she wanted, this was when the food was on the table, Not great customer service, obviously the Chef thinks they are so great they don’t need repeat business.

Been a few times and the location is great, really good environment. Food is well presented and tasty. Only fault I can pick on is the service can be slow and sometimes the waiters seem to forget about some tables.

I've visited the blue anchor twice for birthday celebratory meals (not mine). Parking is good as there is a big car park directly opposite, the initial welcome is friendly and drinks orders are taken as soon as you are seated. All good so far butunfortunately from this point on its downhill all the way. The meals are overpriced and represent very poor value. On my most recent visit I ordered a rib eye steak (rare) with chips and onion rings. What I got was a overcooked Steak (more medium rare) with 6 chips arranged like building scaffolding and 3 onion rings for the price of £22 ish. This sort of thing might go down a storm at Canary wharf but when the children's meal has about 4 times the amount of chips then you know something's up. When dessert came round it took absolutely ages to arrive and the birthday cake that we brought with us to be brought to the table took a life time to materialise and we had to ask many times. In summary a disappointing experience which is upsetting when a close relative is paying for you so it's hard to complain without ruining the whole occasion.

Excellent food bit pricey but quality BUT I suppose it is part of their policy not having Wi-Fi my EE data was nil and I could have done with keeping in touch with the world outside of the place.

Beautiful decor, mix of old beams and some contemporary touches. Menu is varied, with something for everyone. It may appear slightly on the expensive side, however this is high quality ingredients, presented exquisitely, with great flavours cooked expertly. So I feel it was good value, and worth every penny.

Lovely food, and the service is always great. It's a little pricy compared to some restaurants, but once you taste the food I think you'll agree it's worth it.

Lovely pub/restaurant, has a very rustic/chic feel. The service was great but the visit was only let down by the dry bread with the sandwiches we ordered. The main meals looked great so I guess it was a light snack off day.

My wife and I love the Blue Anchor. We come here a lot for breakfast, which is always perfect. The full English in the best around and both the Eggs Benedict and Royale are superb. We occasionally have dinner also and even the standard menu features excellent traditional dishes. The staff are wonderful and have always been so friendly and accommodating. Service has always been very good, yes it can slow down a little when they're very good and swift so not sure what other reviewers are complaining about! It is a lovely old building, tastefully decorated with good, soft background music and mood lighting. The booths have comfortable leather upholstery with stylish contemporary cushions and drapes, we have our favourite spot in the corner, but it's also lovely by the central open fire, particularly in winter :)

Went here few weeks ago the food was amazing, my fiance is vegan and the chief was brillant and made her a meal not even on the menu.

It really is a lovely venue! We used this restaurant in July for luncheon with our witnesses after our civil partnership. We spent around £250 for a party of four. The food was nice and several of our wine choices not available, and the WW service was executed in a friendly and professional manner. The real let down for us were the PAPER NAPKINS! We don't use them when dining at home and didn't expect them at our luncheon. Sort that out and we'll be back…

We came off the ferry early @ 07.30. Found the door open however before opening time. The lady of the House welcomed us anyway. Shortly thereafter we enjoyed our English breakfast in a very hospitable way, homely. Very nice atmosphere. Thank you again.

2 course lunch on a Sunday for £15 — brilliant value and lovely food — very much recommend (also — suitable for people with children/babies.

I've treated my wife to a meal here twice this year, the second time at her request as she loved the food the first time so much. Nice decor, staff and the best rack of ribs around.

The Blue Anchor Feering is a converted 16th Century coaching inn sympathetically refurbished. A restaurant, boutique hotel with function room and courtyard garden. Richard whittington head chef produces modern global cuisine with a local British flavour. Open daily from 7.30am serving food all day seven days a week.

My wife and I dined at the Blue Anchor for the first time last night. The ambience and décor were atmospheric and relaxing — lots of old oak beams. The food was delicious — perfectly cooked medium rare sirloin steak that melted in the mouth, accompanied by a delicious house red wine. The third crucial element was the excellent service — prompt, friendly and with a smile from start to finish! A delightful experience all round, thank you, and we will definitely be returning soon.

Now called the Blue Anchor. Excellent choice and variety on menu, well cooked with good presentation. Staff very attentive and friendly however, it all comes with a price which in our opinion is a little high. Only a restaurant for that special occasion.
