Such a fantastic building. Full of character and charm. Amazing rooms. Delicious breakfast and helpful staff.

Some rooms nicer than others, decor needs updating for the prices charged, poor attention to detail and not really very personal.

We only popped in for a drink. But lady at front desk was lovely. Told us about the building and let us have a look around. Will definitely come back to stay.

I stayed there for the week and I had a single room in the lodge and it the room was a good size with plenty of space, the breakfast was good and there was a good selection the hotel is great value for money and would recommend it.

Beautiful building with a huge garden. My single room is very nice and offers an amazing view to the sea.
The staff is very friendly and helpful. It is a pleasure to be here!

Stayed there for two nights with my family (three children and hubby). Very friendly and helpful staff. Good location close to the shops and restaurants. Breakfast was OK but it's a shame that their dont offer any food service the rest of the day. When travelling with kids, we don't always want to go out for dinner, so room service sometimes is more convenient.

Great hotel, clean and very well maintained, a 5 minute walk, if that, from the town centre, friendly staff, a very relaxed atmosphere. Beautiful garden, big carpark : doesn't do food (apart from an excellent cooked breakfast) but who cares, there are lots of great places to eat, a stones throw away in the lovely, interesting, vibrant town of Swanage. I will definitely stay here again.

A lovely, characterful hotel within easy walking distance of the seafront. The rooms are average size, well presented and clean, although perhaps a little dated in places. Some rooms have superb sea views over the town. There is a free car park to the rear of the building with plenty of space. The staff were extremely hospitable and the breakfast was of reasonable quality.

A great hotel. We go every year in July and stay in Louisa Lodge, which is in the grounds of the hotel and more modern. There is ample parking, attentive and friendly staff and it's only a short walk to the beach, the station (the steam train to Corfe Castle) and local pubs and restaurants. You'll need those as while they still do their excellent breakfasts they no longer do any other meals. Breakfast is now self-service but they're holding their prices and levels of service and we hope they'll be there for many more years.

Despite requesting a ground floor room via lady direct to hotel anf on my booking online AND staying here 4 times I been expected to walk up stairs and with a baby on my own with a disability. I will be contacting disabity uk as not all disabities are visable. If I was 94yr in wheelchair what would you have done? Vety very upset.

I spent 5 wonderful days here. I had a room at the lodge, a new building in the manicured garden. Only shortcoming: Only bathtub with overhead shower. Not suitable for older people or those with mobility crevings. For breakfast, you have to walk down a steep garden path. Breakfast is worthy of all honours. FULL English with black pudding, fried bread, kippers on request, omelette etc. Very friendly, turned staff. The main house is the hammer. There is a cosy bar. The centre of Swanage is a 3 to 5 minute walk away. Great to eat is at Salt Pig and Castaways. Perfect location with ample parking.

Lovely place, nice grounds with perfect position to stroll into town and a good breakfast. Only stayed one night but we will be back. We came back and not disappointed. It's a shame they have stopped doing evening meals as we were looking forward to dining in, but there are plenty of places to eat on the door step. The buffet style breakfast is great and easy to overdo breakfast, and the staff are friendly and helpful. The room could do with a touch up, but in an old house you would expect a bit of character. We would definitely stay here again.

Great hotel for our 1 night stop on a bicycle tour. Very friendly and helpful staff and accomodating for our bicycles too, they let us leave them in a safe place indoors overnight. The only reason it wasn't five stars is the breakfast was a little basic for me but if you like a classic fryup then you'd love it.

Stayed Saturday night. Can't fault the place. Helpful, clean, plenty of parking and a spot on breakfast.

Very good hotel. Arrived late with muddy boots after walking the coast path. But staff were friendly, room was nice and breakfast was great. One of the best I've stayed in can't fault it.

Stayed in the lodge which of modern design. Good staff and no problems. Purbeck house is of Victorian fashion down to cast iron radiators in the public areas. Wi-Fi throughout the site that actually works though of course my be another story in peak summer time.

Had a lovely stay at purbeck house. Stayed for 2 nights. Room was large and clean with a partial sea view. Bed was comfortable. Staff were very friendly and helpful.

A very pleasant stay in a beautiful old building. The lounge is cosy, the staff caring and breakfast is just right.

What an awesome place to stay! The food is professionally prepared in a high class kitchen, with extensive varieties to suit every palate. The elegance is at once impressive and yet homely, putting one instantly at ease and sorry to leave. Prices are competitive all round… It's quite astonishing this place has yet to be confirmed as a 5 star establishment! RAC and AA?! You're being left behind as the happy and satisfied customers are building a majority-opinion 5 star award for their experiences at the Purbeck House Hotel :-)

We were disappointed. Lynn on reception and the breakfast team were very nice but the beds were uncomfy and the bar staff were rude and unhelpful.
Despite the very nice food and beautiful building, I don't think we'd stay there again.

I was a guest at a wedding on 14 Oct 17. I was accommodated in the Louisa Lodge. Yes, the room was a little dated but it was very clean and had a plentiful supply of tea, coffee, etc… Everything in the room worked. Also felt very secure as the door into the lodge is by the key card for your room. Breakfast was of a very good standard. The food as part of the wedding was excellent. … The highlights however were the stunning old building itself and the amazingly helpful staff who were friendly and helpful. Would definitely return if we holidayed in the area.

Really enjoyed stay here with organised group over wknd. Louisa lodge (attic twin room) was clean and comfortable, with everything working, & needed available. V quiet! :) Plenty of hot water for bath and/or shower. Comfortable bed & dark room Friendly & accommodating staff. Interesting historic main building. Great food — will def stay again. Thanks x.

Delightful place. Quiet rooms (top floor), excellent dinners (worth the money), varied and delicious breakfast. Quaint and interesting architecture and fascinating history. Get a sea view room at the top of the house for best experience. Support this excellent establishment. You won't be sorry.

The Hotel was fantastic, the building is beautiful, staff are friendly and rooms are large and comfortable. We'd definitely stay here again.

The bathrooms really need an upgrade way too small.

The barman was welcoming, but the pub is dark and dinghy. We looked at staying in one of their two rooms, but it was pretty grotty and right above the kitchen that smelt of burnt chip fat. Yuck.
