Upon arrival we had a long wait for our room as it was not ready. Then told we had to Pay for our stay up front. The evening meal was a throw back to my old school days, vegetables boiled to within an inch of their life, all just about fir for human consumption! But it’s what awaited us in our room that disgusts me more. Around 11pm we decided to retire to bed, upon pulling back the covers we were welcomed by a large brown smelling stain on the sheets yes you guessed it the sheets were soiled with human feces that resulted in us having to go to reception and ask them to be changed. No apology or explanation! We then the next morning decided we didn’t want to stay the remaining 3 nights as the cleanness and food standards in hotel were shocking. We were refunded for the 3 nights but lost our deposit. Would not recommend this hotel and most certainly would not return! Oh if if the hotel denies the stained bed sheets I have photographs to prove the disgusting sight that awaited us as we pulled the sheets back!

Good location out of town but only 10 mins walk through the gardens. Dated decor. Breakfast option of cereal and fry up but if you order weetabix you only get 1 biscuit. I feel this hotel is more suited to the older generation. No frills. Does have a small indoor pool which is a bonus.

Just come back from a week here can not fault the staff there very helpful and polite Room was ok bath room a tad small one thing drove me mad was being woke most mornings and nights by other guests slamming there bedroom doors every time the entered or left there room. Also would be good to have some cushions on the garden seats and umbrellas for shade The bus driver there and Back was brilliant.

Brilliant budget hotel. Just back from a weekend away and this hotel fitted exactly what we needed. Yes the rooms are a little worn and we could hear everything going on in other rooms.. But the staff were friendly, helpful and welcoming. Breakfast was tasty and fast to arrive. Frankly for a weekend break I'd be happy to pay for the staff service alone.

They state that the breakfast is free but I was charged £6.00 per day. You do not get value for money either, the amount of food and quality was probably only worth £1 or £2. The "shower" in the bathroom is just a shower that you hold yourself as there is no bracket to put it on. There is also no shower curtain so water gets everywhere. Had a dirty towel given as being clean. The only good thing to say is that the bedding was clean.

We have stayed at this hotel twice in the last two years. Rooms could do with a revamp but are clean. Food is nice with a decent swimming pool and facilities for adults and children. Staff are friendly and helpful. Location is only 5 to 10 mins walk to Bournemouth town centre/beach front. Overall we think the Laguna is value for money. However I will mention on our last night we stayed here in June we had the unpleasant experience of some idiot rowdy guests who thought it was ok to shout swear and slam doors at 2am with no consideration for anyone else. I am not blaming the hotel for a few rowdy guests, just be aware Friday and Saturday nights can sometimes get very rowdy at peak times of the year.

Dated hotel but with a nice friendly atmosphere and also has a swimming pool. Rooms are slightly dated but clean and usable. Free on site parking as well which is a nice bonus. You need to pre book for evening dinner and breakfast. Few minutes walk from the city

The hotel is not horrible, but its not great either. You get what you pay for. The entire hotel is extremely antiquated and in serious need of renovations. The walls are paper thin, so I can hear everything that happens around me, as though it was happening in my own room. The staff are extremely friendly and helpful, I have yet to be greeted with anything other than a smile and a warm welcome. The bed in my room feels a bit old and I think it is almost worn out. I sit on it and it sinks pretty far. The location is decent and not far from the city center through either the upper gardens or via an underpass in the driveway. In summary, not a horrible hotel, but not the best either.

Great friendly atmosphere and staff. Rooms are clean but a little antiquated like they are OFF of the 70s… Think of Fawlty Towers with a smile. Food and drink was great and served in bone China! Only reason getting 4 stars was the creaking floorboards from the room above that doing the through the evening, night and gave us an unexpected early start…

This is a nice place to stay for a couple of days and more. The hotel is quite close to low gardens and the town center. The guys from the restaurant are really kind and fun. Martina, Louis and everybody else there are surprisingly professional. The hotel is small but comfy. Attended by its owners. Jill and Richard are great and helpful with any information about the city. They also offer good trips and tours. I surely go back there

I have stayed at Laguna a few times, I was pleased to see they had painted the restraunt which badly needed doing. The rooms are out dated and not very clean, the cleaners are just doing basic and not pulling things away from walls to clean behind, they need to look for dirt and staines not turn a blind eye. Take pride in their work and not just want money. I stayed in what could be a nice room in copper beach. But it was filthy and needed a deep clean to fresh it up. Staff seamed helpful. Family run hotel with indoor, heated pool, jacuzzi and sauna. There is a sports room, annexes and lovely gardens. There is a recently extended parking area as well as coach inclusive packages. Very near to Bournemouth Public Gardens and a wonderful walk into Bournemouth town centre and the beach. The staff are all eager to help, polite and friendly. We have been holidaying here for 9 years and will continue to return every year!

Budget hotel but with a hefty price tag! Rooms were cramped, family room for 3 didn't allow much room for moving around the really dated, pre1960, furniture (the smallest double bed I have ever seen, a single bed, 2 bedside tables, free standing bedroom unit) The bathroom was also small, think broom cupboard then halve the size, a 'clean me' bath with mixer shower — 2 temperature settings steam and ice (management is aware but can't/won't/don't know how to fix it, toilet and what I call a morning after sink (hanging, literally off the wall) on top of that we were directly above the bar area, family room remember! The pool was the only saving grace :) I will add if anybody does have the misfortune of booking here, they operate coach holidays picking up from various locations. The coach drivers have a tendency to block car park access when the coach spaces are full. If it hadn't been for the hotel being full I would have requested to move. It has taught me one thing, I will ask to see the room offered before paying for accommodation at another nonchain hotel.

Shower temperature is dodgy. We asked for a travel cot and when we arrived there was no cot. We then went and asked again and it was literally dumped just inside the room. You can hear everything going on next door and my parents room didn't have a shower curtain or screen yet had a sign telling them to use it when showering. Breakfast portions are small — bacon is a rasher and beans are a spoonful and we were given fried bread with the bacon despite not asking for it — the poached egg was overcooked as well. It feels dated and tired. Bar is cash only yet no sign saying this that I could see.

Where do I start. Rooms very small. Not very clean. Toilet dirty. Took 10 mins to get warm water for shower. Bin had someone else's dirty cotton buds in it. Smelt of cigarettes. Walls paper thin so can hear everything next door. Only place I know that still uses blankets not quilts. MINIMUM PARKING first come first serve so about 40 spaces for whole hotel. Did have a lovely full English breakfast as well as coffee/tea orange juice and cereal. Cheap hot and tasty. But at the end of the day you get what you pay for. Would not use again.

Seriously, don't waste your money, unless of course, you're looking for a throwback to the 70's to visit grandma's house. The bathroom was beaten up, old and gross. Then, at around 8am I was woken up to the smell of what I can only describe as the world's greasiest, deep fat fryer smell that was even worse in the bathroom? It was so bad, my wife an I packed our belongings in 15 minutes and left. I've never stayed in such a terrible hotel. I will say this though, the staff were great, however the owners clearly are milking this hotel without making any investments in its upkeep. Stay away!

3 of us stayed for one night. When we arrived the lady on reception very helpful. Showed us to our accommodation which we had only booked a room but due to a cancellation we were actually offered a two bedroom flat. Very spacious had our own patio area which was private. Not overcrowded at all. The breakfast was ample for us, waitress very kind. All in all I would return to the Laguna again.

Had that smell you associate at best with your gran's house, at worst with a hospice. One of those hospices which actively shoves you off this mortal coil, rather than allowing you to shuffle off it in comfort. Fully furnished by the stock deemed unfit for resale by charity shops. Staff were nice enough though.

It really wasn't that bad! Very 70s decor, but our room was clean and tidy. The bathroom couldn't be any smaller (I could sit on the toilet, put my feet in the bath while washing my hands in the sink), and the shower was a bit weak and required lots of tweaking to get it at a decent temperature. They have a small indoor pool which was warm and clean and was free to use which we swam around in, and the included breakfast was medium size (one sausage, fried bread, bacon, egg, hash brown, beans, rack of toast, pot of coffee, juice). Staff were friendly and there was stuff for the kids to do (table tennis, pool, roundabout). Parking was a bit fun as its a crammed in but they found us a space. Would use again if I wanted to do things in Bournemouth as its only 10 minutes walk away from the seafront.

A weekend to be spent with my wonderful girlfriend, seeing comedian Alan Carr, quickly turned out to be a Carr-Crash due to the 70’s style accommodation that must have an allergy to dusters, possibly developed 10 years or so ago. Pulling off into the car park, we were greeted with a lovely gravel drive and ample parking, but probably not the best surface for grating a brand new Roxy bag across to get to the borrowers-sized reception desk. A friendly chap greeted us and an arrivals card was duly filled in, after which he led us on the 2-minute walk to another of the hotels’ outbuildings. He left us with around 30 meters from the front door with adequate directions to find our room. Once the door and right, left, right turns were negotiated we came across Room 307. Placing the key into the lock, a short clockwise rotation served up a veritable feast to my nostrils, a sign as to why the decent fellow had earlier made a premature exit from proceedings, an insight into what the room would hold in store. Student house damp smell was the immediate thought, and then the third (smell and taste bing the previous two) of the 5 senses took over – sight. Due to not being alive in the 70’s I am not speaking from the voice of experience, but this was pretty much like walking back in time. One small, single glazed window, wood chip wallpaper (painted baby blue), second-hand Weatherspoon’s carpet and a beautifully artexted ceiling, cunningly decorated with cobweb.
