Fantastic meal, and setting on Valentine’s Day, for my wife and me. Staff really friendly, restaurant decorated for Valentines, and a great evening was had. Thankyou very much. Will definitely return.

Lovely Sunday roast and gthe staff were very attentive even tho they were very busy. Shame it was foggy as we couldn't see the view!

We had a fabulous weekend stay. The staff are 1st class super friendly and very efficient. The cooked breakfast was 1st class, as was our evening meal. The steak was cooked to perfection, and the cod was fresh with the best batter ever. All very reasonably priced. Our room was clean with a wonderful view across the moors. We would definitely stay here again. Thank You. Donna and Sean Shropshire.

We stayed recently and what a wonderful weekend we had. The hotel staff were so friendly and welcoming, the accommodation excellent and the food was amazing. Exceeded our expectations and hope to return again soon.

This place is amazing food is just out of this world and the staff are extremely friendly nothing is too much always smiling. We will definitely be going back there. The hotel is very clean and lovely x.

Just had a xmas set meal with our friends tonite keeping to our 2 metres apart. The food was delicious and presented nicely.

Lovely overnight stay whilst exploring Dartmoor! Room was cosy with a gorgeous view across the countryside and the sea. Dinner was beautiful and the grab a go breakfast hit the spot! Special thanks to Patricia who rescued my beloved teddy which I accidentally left tucked up in bed; the postman delivered him to us this morning Highly recommend staying here!

Amazing food, very talented chef — the steaks, scallops and beef Wellington were truly the tastiest yet. Lovely friendly owners and all staff were so kind. Beautiful views and animals abound along with very comfortable rooms. Views to Plymouth Sound and a lovely quiet location right on the moor and only a few miles from so many interesting places.

We held my parents surprise Golden wedding Anniversary party here, Pre covid, and it was fabulous! Staff were superb, very friendly and accommodating. Food was delicious and compliments by lots of family and friends about the venue and atmosphere of the place. We’ve also eaten here several times, one being today with the family. Food was delicious as always and the staff are second to none! Service was wonderful and we felt safe throughout our time there! Thank you all.

My husband and I took my parents for a meal and I must say everything was COVID safe and we did not feel worried at all. The staff as always were friendly and helpful as ever, our meals were excellent and I would definitely recommend the moorland if you want a lovely night out, great food and the best customer service x.

What a lovely place! My sister and I have just had a fantastic Christmas dinner at the Moorland Hotel, very well presented and beautifully cooked. The staff are so helpful and friendly, I’d definitely recommend it! They even made her a lovely honey drink as she had a sore throat.

Second time going for celebratory meal, what lovely welcoming staff, well mannered friendly service. Food is always good, relaxing surroundings, no hesitation in recommending this Moorland Hotel.

We have stayed here for 8 yrs consecutively — really lovely accommodating hotel, great helpful staff — very friendly — we Love it.

Wonderful place for a meal. Not kept waiting ages. Staff very very friendly. Lovely dining room. Meals we have had have always been tasty, hot and comes out all together no matter how many in your party. 10 out of 10.

We stayed in the Wotter room which was absolutely amazing. My jaw dropped open when I walked in. Massive room, with stunning views of the moors, a huge bed and an amazing double jacuzzi bath! All the staff were so friendly and helpful, Patricia especially went above and beyond for us. The food at the steak house was absolutely delicious, the steak was cooked to perfection and the chocolate cheesecake, oh my goodness wow! I loved watching the chickens running around too. Absolutely perfect stay, we will definitely be returning.

Doesn't look much from the outside but it was a great experience. We only went to the restaurant and this was the second visit, you get lovely, decent, ordinary food that is well cooked, no complaints. Great view from the car park too.

First visit was amazingly good. Unfortunately second one quite poor. The room we had booked had been allocated to someone else. Not even an apology given. Food in restaurant did not anywhere near come up to standard of first visit. What a pity. Yes, it was definitely this hotel on both occasions. It wasn't a case of overboking of the room — simply that our chosen room, requested and agreed weeks earlier at the time we booked and paid in person, had been allocated to someone else — we discovered on arrival and expressed our disappointment politely. Definitely no apology of any sort. Not even a tiny one!

Took a friend here for a birthday meal last night. The weather may have let us down, but the food and service certainly did not. My friend said her rump steak tasted so good and she certainly had a plateful of food. My salmon with lemon and dill butter was cooked perfectly. The desserts were gorgeous (my apricot curd syllabub was accompanied by crushed meringue and was a great balance of fruity, creamy, sweetness — bad for the diet, but good for the soul). The staff were so welcoming and friendly, noticing empty glasses and offering refills and making sure everything was ok. We had a lovely table by the window and we watched the rain travel across the moor. Perfect. Really recommend a meal here. X.

Fantastic views all the way down to Plymouth Sound from this friendly hotel. Our room was very clean and comfortable. The staff are lovely, very friendly and helpful. The restaurant offers a good selection of tasty meals, but we would recommend the steaks, they are to die for. This is our second visit and we will go back again. Easy access to the downs immediately across the road. This hotel is ideally situated for exploring Dartmoor and surrounding area.

Excellent in every way. Food wonderful. Staff fantastic. Made very welcome and comfortable with dogs. Love this place. Been several times now and intend to go many many more times. Cannot praise it enough.

Lovely hotel, very welcoming staff and very good food, especially the steaks which are locally sourced and superb. Far reaching views of Plymouth and the sea with Dartmoor on your doorstep. Dog friendly and great for walks over the Moors straight from the hotel.

This place is fantastic! The staff are so friendly and helpful and the food is amazing! If you want go for a bite to eat or even a little break away this is the best place to go!

Great secluded location but not remote. Staff superb. Only gripe was bed being soft. Clean and well furnished room.

Me and my partner had a 1 night stay and we were able to take our 2 dogs. From the second we got there from the second we left the staff were very attentive to not only our needs but to the dogs aswell. The service and food were impeccable and we could not fault a thing. We had a wonderfully relaxing couple of days here when we had an event to go to in Plymouth. A peaceful spot, and views from our comfortable room were lovely. Staff were very willing to help with any requests. Breakfasts and dinners were tasty, hot and good portions. Parking no problem, with bonus horses and chickens about. We only wish more people stayed here to enjoy it all!

The accommodation was lovely could not fault it and the breakfast was so good will defo go back again.

This was my second stay at The Moorland Hotel and both times have been wonderful. The staff are ever so friendly and welcoming. The hotel it's self my not look the best from the outside, but inside it is clean and tidy. Good amenities. It is a bit dated, but I personally think that adds to the character of the place. Food for both our evening meal and breakfast was very good. The views are outstanding.

Come here each year for my wife's birthday. We stay in the wotter room and really enjoy it.

My son and his partner often stayed at the Moorland so my husband and I decided we would give it a try and took our GSD Willow with us. We had a truly lovely stay at this super hotel. The location is really handy for just about everywhere in Devon. Everything about the hotel is perfect. The staff are wonderful, the food is out of this world — the best steak EVER. The rooms are clean and comfortable and the view from whichever side your room is on is quite spectacular. As for Willow — she really enjoyed herself and a lot of fuss was made of her so she loved her time at the Moorland. Can't wait to get back this year. Thank you "Moorland" — you are definitely our favourite hotel!

Had a wonderful stay here, warm welcome from the staff, we were given a room out the front, but preferred to out the back which the rooms had balconies & stunning views over the moors to Plymouth & the sea. So we ask to swap, we did with no problem. The room & bathroom was modern'ish but clean & comfortable. Breakfast is great, the restaurant for evening meals is fantastic, lovely meals at reasonable prices. The kangaroo stake is superb. Close to good walks, Dartmoor Zoo, Dartmoor prison museum, a resivour & many other place's to visit.

A lovely friendly hotel, not pretentious. Very clean, bit rough around the edges but cosy and welcoming. Staff so friendly and always happy to chat. Food excellent, home cooked with good portion size. Breakfast could have been better but ok. Located on moor with good walks around the locality.

5 of us had a great evening at this cool 1930's Art Deco hotel after 32 miles hiking across Dartmoor. Great bar, great dinner n brekkie, the staff are fun & couldn't do enough for us! If only we could have stayed longer!

Moorland Hotel is LOVELY! The hotel is cosy, the rooms are spacious, clean, elegant and the beds are comfortable and the ensuite is always a treat. This is our 3rd time here and this time we had a family room with our 8 month old — lovely big bed and we had a cot bed, in our bathroom we had a shower and gorgeous roll top bath — LO loved it! Staff are AMAZING! They are ALL friendly and welcoming! They cannot do enough to help you feel comfortable and enjoy your stay here! I truly cannot recommend the Moorland highly enough!

Nice friendly staff with excellent food, nice clean rooms. And dog friendly.

Apart from the smell of dogs as you first enter, the hotel was very nice, the room was very clean and comfortable, the bed was a little too soft for my liking but again very clean and comfortable pillows. The view was absolutely amazing and though we didn't eat there due to restaurant reservations, the evening food smelled wonderful and the staff were extremely friendly and welcoming. Very hospitable overall.

We stayed at this hotel recently and had a great time. The room was lovely and comfortable with a great view. The staff couldn't have been more helpful and friendly and the meals we had were wonderful. It is in a rural setting but lovely if you want a relaxing break (and not too far to drive to Plymouth) or if you fancy a walk across the moors. Thank you for a lovely stay!

Stayed here (room 5) with my wife, for my 71st birthday. The hotel is good value but, generally, needs a common theme as it is a bit mid-matched.
The staff could not be faulted, nothing was too much trouble and they made you feel very welcome.
The food is very good, though the need to order a "cooked breakfast" the night before seems needless. Also breakfast finishes at 0850 which seems quite early.
I would definitely stay here again and will recommend it.

Lovely hotel only 15 minutes from home and you're in the middle of nowhere! Room perfectly pleasant if a little small but food excellent and staff are all lovely. We came on a Groupon deal but will be back and can and will recommend.

Stayed a few time and love it here food very good and rooms are brilliant.

Great little hotel located on the edge of the Moors, friendly staff and nice rooms. I stayed for one before a cycling event and they kindly found a place to securely store my bicycle. Make sure you book a table if you want food — it gets very busy.

Wotter room for our wedding night/weekend and WOTTER room lol awsome views and the steak is a must but book first :-).

Best steak ever room was clean but couldn't get a table next night not a lot around in walking distance for other food.

We really enjoyed our stay at the moorland hotel. The food was gorgeous and very reasonably priced best Steak I have had in years. The room was clean and very nice the décor is a touch dated. The Staff are amazing we had the best service we have ever had in this country, the staff were efficient nice to talk to and just gave GREAT service. Looking forward to staying there again soon.

We thought we had booked our most favourite jacuzzi room but on arriving discovered that we hadn't! What devastation, ever seen a big butch man cry? We ultimately so enjoyed our stay here, even not having our favourite room couldn't spoil it, everything is good, everything! Thank you Moorland and staff.

The Hotel lives upto it's historical past of being a guest house. Despite this quaint hotel was and is fantastic. Placed at the edge of the Moors you'll have glorious views from every angle. The only negative is the mattress was bumpy and the roads leading to the Hotel were narrow. It's a great venue for single couples or families. The staff are brilliant and couldn't do enough to make your stay worthy. Highly recommended for all. Restaurant is gooood.
