Wonderful food and great service. The best jail ale pie I've tasted lovely fresh vegetables and such a tasty gravy. A beautiful building lots if cosy nooks to sit with your cream teas. Definitely going back there again.

We recently held our Wedding Day at The Bedford Hotel.
It was absolutely amazing and majorly down to the fantastically seamless way that the Hotel ran the day so thank you so much. From we enquired about holding our wedding at The Bedford to the day after the wedding everyone we have dealt with has been so friendly and helpful. The wedding planning team were so quick to answer any questions we had with detailed and clear answers. I stayed overnight in the hotel the evening before the wedding (alongside many family members) and the staff dropped in to run through the plans and schedule for the day and check how I was feeling. Everything ran seamlessly on the day and our guests had nothing but compliments to give about the hotel. The food in particular was a huge highlight and one which we know everyone we have spoken to since said was delicious.
Nothing was too much trouble even when we made some last minute changes or found out on the wedding morning that our chair covers weren't quite up to scratch! I'm not sure who it was but thank you so much to the wonderful staff member/ members from the Bedford who sat and painfully sewed up the feet of many of our seat covers to ensure our ceremony and wedding breakfast room looked perfect. The walled garden was also looking amazing for our photos, even in early October. Overall a beautiful setting, amazing staff and absolutely delicious food.

I enjoyed my 60th birthday party at The Bedford. We enjoyed a lovely evening and we had a fantastic buffet. We also stayed the night in a comfortable room.

Had a wonderful afternoon cream tea for my husbands birthday, had our guide dog puppy with us and nothing was too much trouble.

The ambience of this hotel is lovely, we come here often, food always interesting and if a high quality. Would definitely recommend.

Fantastic hotel right in the middle of town next to the Pannar market, room's spotless staff looked after us very well. The food very good no real need to eat else where.

Lovely cream tea. Staff very friendly and more up-market like London hotels. Interior is beautiful and food delicious. Well recommended if not to stay but pop in and have high-tea or cream tea.

Absolutely lovely food and great surroundings. The room we had our meal in was very spacious and air conditioned. Fabulous.

Stayed in The Bedford on 15th the night before my wedding and it was fantastic. Food was brilliant, service was perfect and the beds are to die for. Stayed again the night of the wedding and once again it was perfect. Breakfast was lovely also.
Recommend this to everyone as it was such a beautiful hotel.

Went here after a funeral and enjoyed the relaxed atmosphere. Especially nice in the garden where we could sit and chill out in the sunshine. Bar was quite pricey but in line with what I'd expect to pay at a hotel like this and cheaper than hotels in Dartmoor.

Visited for a reception. Facilities were period, historical but good. Staff were friendly and polite and the food was good. Reccomended.

Lovely on the outside and for a drink. Not so great if your disabled and wanting to get married there, they have no lift upstairs which means no disability honeymoon suite.

Comfortable room. Nice coffee in the room which is always welcome. Pleased room service was available, would be good to have a list of drink available. For me breakfast starts a little late so I had to leave without it.

Beautiful building, great facilities, friendly helpful staff. Great place for a bite to eat, drink and an informal business meeting.

Attended yet another Sunday jazz lunch. Plenty of good food on the multi-choice set price menu. The band is good with talented musicians. Highly recommended.

I've stayed at the Bedford a couple of times now while away on Business. Always have a nice stay. The rooms are large (if a tad cold) and the staff are always incredibly friendly and helpful. The lounge area downstairs is very cozy and nice to sit with a drink from the bar. Breakfast is always good although the coffee isn't great. Will definitely be coming back again. Have never eaten at the hotel but was very impressed with the menu when I took a glance at it the other evening. Might give it a go next time.

Visited for morning coffee and lunch. Service was very friendly and swift. Had a lovely cup of coffee and lunch was delicious. Would recommend.

An excellent hotel right in the middle of Tavistock. Although I've never actually stayed the night in the hotel I have attended weddings and school events. On each circumstance they have had excellent service and friendly staff.

Had our works Christmas meal here the food was lovely staff very efficient would highly recommend this place and the decorations were absolutely lovely.

Stayed for two nights, very friendly and helpful staff. Both the breakfast and evening meal are very good, you will need a good appetite to eat all three courses of the evening meal. The room we stayed in was ideal for what we wanted. Would definitely stay again.

Had a fantastic weekend stay — the warmth of all of the staff along with the tranquillity and facilities of the hotel all made our stay very comfortable. The room a four poster room with spa/bubble bath just added to make it special. The hotel has a secure large car park out the back access via a lift/stairs to the ground floor (NB no lifts to upper floors (as it is a listed building) so ask for a ground floor room if unable to climb stairs) all areas are very clean well set out. It is a busy centre for Tavistock with the award winning food served in the bar/lounge are and restaurant — the food and drink are superb, so even if you are not staying you can pop in for Tea/coffee, lunch, afternoon tea or dinner (Book for dinner in the restaurant). The hotel is only a few hundred yards from all the shops/market and easy walking as mainly flat. We loved our stay and will be going back.

Great old world hotel. Genuine period features and friendly, helpful staff. The hotel restaurant is amazing and was a welcome distraction from the aches of an entire day cycling in the area. Rambling layout with various bars and ante-rooms to explore and relax. Highly recommended this place.

OK but not usual standard. Gluten free bread awful. But Paninis were very good. Not happy about being charged an extra 10p per cup for having decaff.

We stayed to attend a wedding and the reception after a church ceremony was really lovely with great food and drink. Being an historic building the hotel is quirky in layout and a bit creaky in places bit it's all clean and tidy. Some issues need a little attention. Breakfast was good with plenty of choice and efficient staff. Our shower room was great but despite booking our room as soon as the invitation arrived we were given a pokey double with no view at all! That being said there were some nice touches, it was clean and the bed was comfortable.

Apart from the room being a little hot, this was a very nice stay. The hotel is centrally located, housed in an old ramparted manor house overlooking the river on one side and the chapel on the other. Staff are friendly and helpful. Breakfast was the best breakfast I've had buffet. First class.

So disappointed today with the complete lack of service received. Having booked about 2 months in advance for an afternoon tea, a special treat for my partners 92 year old mum. We arrived in plenty of time for our 14:30 booking, waiter came and laid out plates tea cups etc about 14:15 also placing a reserved sign with details. Didn't see him again. At 14:45 I went to reception to ask what was happening, waitress came to table & asked if we would like tea? That was duly delivered by a waiter who placed it on the table without uttering a word. At 15:10 I then went to question where sandwiches etc were? Oh have you not been served yet was the response! With this we decided enough was enough and said we were leaving. No apologies from staff. Surely this should have been a simple process for the staff to follow as they had our booking. There was a complete lack of communication. If I could remove the one star for poor I would.
