The food was amazing! The service was very poor we were left at our table 20 mins and I had to go to the bar to ask if we could order. I would of liked an extra sauce with my steak but no check back to see if everything was ok! But like I said the food was absolutely gorgeous! Just think they need to sort the service out!

We had our wedding here on 23/12/2022 and I cannot fault The Hurt Arms in any way. The booking process was so simple, our wedding co-ordinator Mia went above and beyond, and our day ran so smoothly. The staff are so lovely and kind, the food is incredible, the bedrooms are gorgeous… honestly I can’t give enough compliments about this place! I would 100% recommend as a wedding venue, and we will continue to come here for food, and overnight stays because we’re in love with the place!

Stayed here twice and enjoyed dinner here three times. An absolute gem of a pub/restaurant/hotel. Rooms are really well finished with rustic furniture and classic/contemporary feel. Bathrooms are bigger than average with walk in showers and modern fixtures. Everything is really well kept and clean. The lounge area of the bar is nice with big sofas. But the real show stopper is the quality of the food in the restaurant. The first time I came here there were the biggest racks of ribs I’ve ever seen! The winter menus focuses more on burgers but all BIG with excellent sides. Atmosphere of the place is really nice and staff are super friendly! Will be coming back again and again!

We attended an evening wedding reception. Lovely place and very unobtrusive staff working very hard in the background. Highly recommended for your special occasion. Lovely venue in a beautiful place.

I haven’t been here for many years, and when it was suggested that we go for food I thought it would be lovely to reminisce. Wow, what a transformation, amazing, home cooked food and desserts to die for. Highly recommend.

First time here but will not be the last. This is a great place to eat and get a drink. The food is first class and the staff are wonderful. They even welcome walkers.

So… we ordered the movie night bundle for Saturday night and I cannot recommend it enough. Delivery was perfectly on time, the food was amazing and as good as if we were there, but all the extra little touches made it definitely worth it. If you haven't tried this, you need to! And I hope they still have options like this when everything reopens.

Last nights takeaway was absolutely first class and the cocktail was the icing on the cake. Fantastic food, tasty, excellent, exciting, well presented and delivered. Just what everyone needs on a winter lockdown night.

Went for lunch for 4 people today. Food was beautiful but most staff were not attentive at all. The girls were better than the boys but they walked into the back room and back out as quickly as possible. Seems like they need some organisation as our bill was doubled up on drinks too.

Really lovely place! we met family for breakfast and all the food was great, great veggie options. Lovely staff and felt very well organised and safe. Thank you!

Just picked up a pizza from the out door kitchen.
Very disappointed to see the size of the so called pizza.
More like a flat bread. It was half the size of any pizza i'v had and it was more money.

Love the menu here, especially the ‘Build-Your-Own-Burgers’. There are always GF options on the menu too. Good beers and cocktails, pretty decor. My birthday meal here on Boxing Day was delicious ❤️

Well we have had our first takeaway from here and it was absolutely delicious. We had the chicken pies and they were so tasty and just as good quality as if we had been sitting in for food. We chose to collect as we live in wirksworth but it was ready in 20minutes and was amazing. We will definitely be calling again and it is such a fantastic idea offering top quality takeaway. Well done to all the staff working there!

Amazing place for food and drinks special mention to Samantha who every time I've been in and it's been a lot has always been friendly, nothing has ever been too much even when we are loud and inappropriate.

We visited for lunch yesterday and received a warm welcome, excellent service, very tasty food! The burger and onion rings were delicious, well actually the whole meal was and it was fantastic value for money. We highly recommend this lovely place and will definitely be back!

I can't recommend the hurt arms enough. I got married here and it was the most amazing, perfect day. Shannon is a star and the rest of the staff are fab. Everyone has said what a wonderful place. Thanks everyone at the hurt arms for making our wedding day the best day ever.

Do not order sweet potato fries with your meal they were over cooked and not warm at all. The rest of my meal was fine though not over friendly staff and not very attentive.

Fabulous champagne breakfast with a martini to follow, if you gave room. The best I’ve had in ages, highly recommend.

Last minute decision to go out for dinner and we picked here to try, was not dissapointed. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Menu is interesting with choice for vegetarians and vegans.

Surprising find. We had a one night stay here in the very recently created bedrooms which are modern and fitted out to a high standard. Our rate included breakfast which had a great list to choose from. Very friendly service and reasonably priced.

Having planned our wedding in Scarborough, we looked for a venue to hold our evening reception locally. We found this at The Hurt Arms and from our initial email to Shannon, we felt at ease that this was the perfect place for us.
Shannon was helpful and professional at all times, helping us plan our evening.
On the night it was amazing. From the room and outside looking stunning to wonderful bbq food.
There were plenty of staff on both bars, who couldn't do enough for us and ensured there was no waiting around for drinks.
Shannon was there from the beginning to make sure everything ran smoothly.
Having spoken to most of our guests they have had nothing but positive comments about the whole evening.
We can't recommend The Hurt Arms enough.

We have been visiting The Hurt Arms for years and I have never experienced such awful service and inedible food. Our party was made up of 4 adults and 4 children. The service for both drinks and food was painfully slow and I had to wait for my food for a further 15mins after everyone had already received their food. 3 Adults had the chilli which had no flavour and was watery together with being very fatty meat. The children had mini burgers which were so dry and rubbery they couldn’t even chew them, including the buns. The burgers were supposed to be accompanied with fries and they definitely weren’t fries, they were greasy/rubbery wedges that again were inedible. I had the chicken skewers and I literally had 2 chunks of chicken with one wrap on my plate together with the greasy wedges that were supposed to be ‘fries’. The cocktails took forever to make, I had to get 2 drinks changed as they had the wrong mixers in them. So all in all, it pretty much ruined a lovely get together with friends and family. I had booked a birthday meal for next week but I shall definitely not be visiting again. I am so disappointed as I love the venue but I definitely won’t be having a meal here anytime soon.

We stayed here for two nights and really enjoyed it. Rooms had clearly been recently renovated too. Breakfast was good — decent choice of cooked breakfast. Would definitely stay here again if we are in the neighbourhood. Only small complaint is that they should have provided fans in the room as it was very hot and windows did not open much (for safety reasons).

Have been wanting to go there since the refurbishment. We also wanted to check it out, as we were looking at their wedding suite. We went on a Wednesday night around 9. We had a bit of a wait at the bar and when we finally were about to get served, the waitress served some lads who had just walked up to the bar and left us there. I didn't really want to get into an argument with the lads as they'd been drinking. I was hoping for a more "family" feel, but the new owners seem to cater for groups of lads drinking as much as they can. We went to sit outside and a lad and a girl came out, stopped about 2 foot from the main front entrance door and proceeded to put their tongues down each others throats for a couple of minutes, while people had to go round them! Nice. If the new owners have gone for a "2 o'clock, Sunday morning, nightclub feel", they've got it spot on. Shame, I really had high hopes for this place. This is the first and last time, my partner and I will be going there and we will be looking for somewhere else to have our wedding venue.

After a refurbishment we totally love this place now. It's been made beautiful. Trendy but done so well. Love all the different parts of it now too especially the veranda room. Delicious food and great drinks selection. Love it!

Amazing food. Very good selection of vegetarian and vegan options (picture is vegan pudding). I would recommend the onion rings.

Took ages to be seated although there were plenty of spare tables. Waited ages to be served to be told someone would be over then had to ask twice more then had to ask 3 times for our drinks. Carvery is too close to the bar and needs more staff as took ages to be served. Staff just need a lot more training on customer service skills. Expensive for what it is. Only positive was the beef was soft but by the time they'd filled everything else up the rest of the meal was cold. Won't be going back.

Came for lunch today ~ great selection of food from 3 menus (outdoor menu could do with a bit more choice though) ate from the lunchtime one & cant fault it! Great service from bar, through to ordering & serving ~ couldn’t do enough to ensure you enjoyed your meal! Refurbishment is fab, very on trend! Can see this place getting busier & busier over the summer! Would I recommend ~ definitely!

We thought by all the vehicles in car park. It would be difficult to get served however they were very quick to find us a table for 4 plus small child. Nice meal relaxing atmosphere…

Good Carvery and the newly refurbished pub is a nice environment. Some good beers on tap. Lots of staff and they are friendly but they need a stand out restaurant manager to give them some direction and make the service more efficient.

Just had a meal at the Hurt Arms that has only opened this week after major refurbishment. Had a nice meal & will go back as it's quite near us. We had our wedding reception @ the Hurt Arms on Sat 13th March 1971. Happy memories.

Great opening night. Looking forward to coming back.

I love it here! We always get great service and polite staff and the food never disappoints! So much so that my sister has decided to get married here too!

It's great to see this place returning to it's former glory. It's now under new management and the chef is focusing on producing great food. The menu is expanding to provide the usual pub fare and more. If you visited early 2017 or before and were disappointed, it's well worth another visit as the new management have made a difference to the place. There is an open fire near the restaurant creating a cosy atmosphere. There is ample parking and a large play park for children along with a large beer garden. It offers stunning views of the Derwent Valley and is great for a summer drink or meal.

Met by Dan the Manager, Id just been Married at Ripley registrar office and wanted somewhere special for myself my wife and two guests. Pint of Swan Pale Ale was excellent, service and setting was superb. Starter of creamy mushrooms on toasted bread, followed by a medium rare Rump and side dishes. Total service and ambience of the place made it very special. A big Thankyou.
