Lovely room, dog friendly, welcomed by host upon arrival, and a breakfast to die for…

Having just stayed the weekend at Sheriff Lodge, I heartily recommend it. Not only were we greeted warmly, but our host Ziz was friendly and professional too. Even Red was very welcoming. The place is beautifully decorated with a very comfortable feel and the breakfast was delicious, being either homemade or locally sourced. Plus you are within walking distance to the pretty town of Matlock and not far from many places of interest. A great place to stay and we hope to stay again soon. 😊

We have visited Sheriff Lodge three times, and are looking forward to our fourth visit in January. Ziz is a wonderful host and her B&B is the best we’ve ever stayed in! The breakfasts are absolutely delicious, again the best we’ve ever had anywhere else. Ziz had her license for our last visit and it was lovely to be able to have a drink in the evening. Sheriff Lodge is so comfortable and the rooms are beautiful, it’s a lovely home from home! We feel welcome and relaxed from the moment we arrive! Roll on January!

We have has another brilliant stay at the sheriff lodge in Matlock already looking forward to our next opportunity to get away, our room was spacious and very well appointed and breakfast was excellent.

Easy to find and situated in a quiet area close to the centre of Matlock. Onsite free car parking an added bonus. Bedroom was stunning with little extras — chocolates on arrival, a fan, a proper hairdryer and a box of ‘things you may have forgotten’ which you could help yourself to or borrow. Stunning views and an extremely comfortable bed. Even a choice of times for breakfast. Fabulous host Zizi and nothing was too much trouble. We were also given discounts to local attractions and a map for a guided walk that Zizi had prepared which took us to the most amazing viewing points that we’d never have found ourselves.

We stayed at Sheriff Lodge back in July. Beautiful room, fab location for enjoying Matlock and surrounding area. Breakfasts were delicious! Ziz was a welcoming and helpful host and we loved Red the dog! Would highly recommend and hope to return…

Lovely Bed and Breakfast in Matlock. Spacious, well equiped bedrooms with comfortable large beds. Great choice for breakfast. Bonus having discounts at local attractions. Will visit again.

Lovely house outstanding decoration and furniture very clean warm and comfortable lovely lounge to sit in the evenings. Bedroom spacious comfortable beds great power shower with toiletries included. Lovely welcome by ziv and red the boxer breakfast very fresh and plenty of choice freshly cooked fresh homemade bread and conserves lovely. Close to all amenities felt very welcomed we enjoyed our stay thank you.

We stayed at the B&B for three nights and loved it. Our family of four (2 adults, 2 children) had the Warren room and it was the perfect size. The owner is lovely and accommodating and the breakfasts are out of this world. I can recommend the Eggs Benedict and Jumblies. The location is perfect for exploring the Peak District.

My wife and I recently had the pleasure of staying at Sheriff Lodge. A lovely building, very light and pleasent bedroom with a very large, comfortable bed. Breakfast was a real treat. Great locally sourced ingredients, very plentiful, nicely presented and well cooked. Our host was able to book tables for us at a couple of local restaurants which gave a discount to guest's of the Lodge. We were also able to benefit by getting a reduction to the admission price to Chatfield House negotiated by our host. Altogether a very good experience, an excellent host and very good value for money. Very recommended.

Superb dog friendly b&b lovely big room great host great nights sleep better than I get at home breakfast sets you up for the day nice tea & cake in the afternoon can I have the recipe please as arnold would say I will be back if you love your dog as much as I love mine then this is the place for you even if you are not a dog lover this is still a great stay thanks.

My partner and I stayed at Sheriff Lodge for a long weekend and had a fantastic experience. The house is perfectly located, close enough that you can walk to the restaurants but located further up the valley where it is perfectly silent and peaceful. The breakfast was brilliant and had a lot of choice but also catered for food allergies or preferences. Ziz made fresh bread every morning and also used all locally sourced ingredients — I recommend the sausages from the local butcher! Our room was beautifully decorated with idyllic views across the valley. The beds were really comfortable and the room immaculate. Ziz had lovely extra touches like the homemade soaps as well. Ziz is a fantastic host and makes Sheriff Lodge even more special. She gave advice on where to walk within the area and places to visit — Chatsworth Estate has a brilliant deli and she also recommended a great pub after our walk. Lovely place to stay and we will definitely be going back. I have already recommended to friends and family as it is a charming place to get away from home.

Fantastic room and hospitality and outstanding breakfast. Sorry to drop a star but the room was beyond freezing, it was at the top of the house 'the loft'. As you started at the bottom of the house it was toasty warm but the further up the house you went the colder it got. The radiator was on and there was even a portable heater in the room but nothing seemed to warm the room. Myself and my little girl slept in socks and sweaters. ☹

A fantastic place, run by Kate and Alan, a fantastic couple. Perfect hosts in a truly beautiful and comfortable environment. Every amenity in the room with the biggest, 7 foot beds, including Tv, even if we haven't ever turned it on in any of our five visits. Stunning breakfast and award winning bread. Matlock is a great place to visit with loads to see and do in the area and good choice of places to eat. Saying that it's highly recommended doesn't do it full justice. Just book it!

A luxurious Bed and Breakfast with superb facilities and a friendly, genuine welcome. I've stayed in hotels a lot more expensive with less comfort than this. The bed (and bedroom) were truly comfortable and the breakfast was first class. I willingly recommend this place to friends and family.

My family, that is my daughter and our dog, and I have just come back from a short break in Matlock. We are missing it already. After reading the reviews we decided to stay at the Sheriff Lodge there. Firstly thank you Trip Advisor and the reviewers – all the positive things that were said that swayed us to stay there were true. Secondly and now for my personal review: Our stay went from one night to two and soon three. The room — We stayed in the Warren adorned with its beautiful rabbits in art and cuddly forms. It is more like a little apartment than room and with its separate entrance offered the privacy of a holiday cottage but with the services of a hotel/guest house. The beds were very comfortable. The rooms were clean. We loved the power shower. Dog very friendly — The room allows dogs and our dog was treated exceptionally well during our stay – she got plenty of stroking attention and the hosts received licks in return. Maya is a rescue dog and at times can be anxious in new places but Kate and Alan helped us to make her feel ok and she was able to enjoy the holiday very much too. More about the hosts — Kate and Alan were thoughtful, open, entertaining, kind and worked tirelessly to offer the best service. They answered questions, gave advice when needed and helped out, everything to make sure our stay was as good as we could get. Kate even helped out with a laundry crisis.

What a lovely place to stay. Huge beds, clean and tasteful. Breakfast was lovely and the owners made us feel special. Thank you. Will stay again and recommend to anyone.

Stayed numerous times, fantastic hosts, fantastic accommodation, fantastic breakfasts. I wouldn't stay anywhere else in Matlock.

Made to feel extremely welcome and a home from home. Best choice of breakfast I have ever had and certainly one of the tastiest, using local produce. Superb.
