TV not working in the room and no staff to sort it out, staff couldn’t turn the lights on for the sauna steam room and hot tub are. Dinner is yet to be had! Won’t stay again but I would come to use the outdoor pool and had a really good swim 🏊‍♂️!

Amazing outdoor swimming pool, very friendly helpful staff grounds are very picturesque, local to the spa town of Matlock Bath and easy reach of beautiful Peak District walks.

Be honest about the size of en suites in your superior rooms, ours was ridiculously small and there was no where to put toiletries.
There was no fire evacuation information on the back of the door.
Over all the whole experience was a very poor standard for a 4 star hotel.

Had a fab hot stone massage. Cant wait to go back and use all the facilities once we are able to again. The light lunch was lovely and they catered well for my funny food tastes.

The room was very nice, clean and spacious. Staff friendly and covid measures were clear and effective. Evening meal was nice and hiuse shiraz was lovely. Would have liked to use the pool but 10.00 start is too late with breakfast and check out time. Hotel is well placed for the Matlock area. Well worth a visit overall.

Had afternoon tea with my mum. Very disappointing, shown to our table by staff member with bad body odour, tea pots dirty. Ordered one glutton free but no staff could explain what was glutton free except sandwiches which were presented like builders sandwiches full of crusts. Chef could not be found. Young barman was brilliant and agreed with all my comments and informed manager who couldn't speak to us as going into meeting. Young barman left on his own to deal with everything and he was lovely and did his best. We were told not to pay. If you are looking for a beautiful, well presented, clean and value for money afternoon tea I highly recommend The Cafe In The Park in Matlock.

Splendid! We had a lovely holiday, our only day away of 2020 and so glad we had it here. The pool is just gorgeous to swim in, fresh cool water & views of the Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. The staff are all lovely and treat you like royalty. It can't be easy working within all the new regulations. It was all very covid safe: everyone's temperature is checked before you can go in, hand sanitizer is placed generously everywhere you need, the restaurant is well spaced for social distancing, the pool has time slots so social distancing can be maintained & you always have to leave name & address on entering the pool & have your temperature taken. I felt really safe. I could not fault it. Thank you New Bath for our lovely treat away & thank you to all the lovely professional staff.

Really disappointed with this hotel and the level of service I've received since raising some concerns with the hotel.
Went for my partners 30th and it was just a disappointment. The best part about the hotel was the spa treatments. 3* Max.

The lady on reception was very welcoming and Manager Daniel could not do enough he was fantastic too the food was lovely also and great value for money.

the buffet breakfast had a vast amount of products to choose from we would love to stay here again and would like to thank Daniel and all the staff that was on duty during our stay a job well done.

Lovely service, staff friendly, food lovely, spa is small could do with some helpful aides to get in and out of the jacuzzi, difficult if u have mobility issues — outdoor pool! I didn’t venture but people do at 7.15pm In the evening.

Me and my partner stayed here yesterday for valentines day, it's easy to find with multiple car parks and 5 minutes walk into matlock bath. Nice and friendly staff upon arrival, room was ready at 1 instead of 3, room was easy to find, and was lovely decorated, clean and tidy. We had 2 hour in the spa which was £10 each this includes use of outdoor pool, outdoor hot tub, steam room and sauna! Bed was comfortable, TV good size and had a nice quite nights sleep. Breakfast was gorgeous with a good selection of cakes, croissants, toast, fish, yoghurts, fruit, cereal, juices and tea and coffee. Would definitely recommend, gorgeous hotel!

Had a wonderful night, clean room, helpful staff. We were extremely pleased with the hotel itself, however,
we went to the children's Christmas party and were super disappointed.
The magician did a great job but the santa visit wasnt very good at all. It wasn't Santa's fault, the organisation of it all was just awful. The children werent told where to go or what to do so they just ran straight for santa, crowded around, not knowing what to do.
I spoke to the events organiser about this and she came across as being angry with me for suggesting it should have been more organised. Kids are happy to take turns, especially if their grown up is with them. Other parents were having a moan too.
The music was questionable too, no Christmas music at all.
We left straight after the food. My 3 year old said it wasn't 'a very Christmasy santa party'.
We love the hotel, we got married there, please take this as a suggestion for improvement rather than a complaint as the events girl clearly did.

Lovely room good choice with continental breakfast. However the outdoor pool was a fantastic experience and Skips enthusiasm for it is infectious. Hotel owners listen to him and let him sort indoor pool.

Nice and clean hotel. The staff is friendly and the foods is tasty. The view outside the hotel is fantastic.

We booked through Off Peak Luxury and were very pleased with what was listed as a 3star hotel. Bedroom 43 although up lots of stairs was huge and stunningly decorated both the room and bathroom were lovely. The only thing that I felt let down the room was no hand soap or other bathroom consumables. The decorative net blinds also were a little broken if you looked closely but only very minor aesthetic problem.
Bed was very comfortable and well made. Very little noise at all. Even though the windows (due to the listed building status I know these have to stay in place) were wooden sash single glazed originals. The hotel staff were super friendly. Fred the bar man recommended a lovely wine for our dinner and we are in the main restaurant. The food was excellent and very nicely presented — the only down side for we two very hungry travellers was the portion size of the main steak meal — very few if any vegetables as it was a mass of swirled on purée sauces. It said it was served with potatoes. If what came with it were potatoes then the gardener needs a lesson on how to grow standard vegetables not dolls house size miniatures.
My partner then asked for a burger as he was still hungry.
We believe the bar menu would have been a better choice for us that night! Now the swimming pool. What a treat! I am an avoid out door swimmer. But didn’t realise what I’d booked until we arrived and were told that this 40yard 6.

The venue was perfect the room was dressed by the staff and venue dresser exactly as they requested and nothing was too much trouble. The whole day was perfect and food was fantastic, including breakfast.
The staff were amazing with my step dad when he took Ill and were so efficient and supportive to help and then get the wedding back on track (he is now well and back home from hospital).
So pleased this was the venue chosen as everything about the day was brilliant, thank you.

Went for afternoon tea today as a birthday treat and it was lovely. Scones were gorgeous and the carrot cake is to die for! Really enjoyed it and would recommend. Thank you to the lovely staff, in particular Chloe who was very attentive.

Went for afternoon cream tea on Tuesday 7thMay
The hotel is set in reasonable location and looks recently renovated.
The reception area is not the best and could do with redesigning. The lounge and dining areas looked freshly painted and reasonably inviting. Dining chairs could do with a clean.
The cream tea was well presented. The scones (not homemade) were presented hot. This was a major mistake, if they were fresh out the oven maybe, but reheated scones dry out and the t…exture was too dry and crumbly verging on stale. I’m not one for eating sawdust! A spoon would have been useful for the fruit compote! Can I also make a suggestion the staff need to be present and attentive.
I was never asked if everything was ok and also had to make a point of asking for another pot of tea, a good waiter would have brought more milk too! It could have been much better and we were disappointed in the level of care provided.

Excellent! Had a great stay this weekend. Reasonable prices and the staff were welcoming and accommodating. Room was spacious and bed was very comfortable. A special mention for Celine in the Spa who did a wonderful express facial for me. I would drive back to Matlock Bath just to have another treatment! Fabulous; real credit to the team there.

Just returned from an awful weekend at the New Bath Hotel and Spa. The only saving grace is the restaurant — the food was superb although breakfasts are bizarrely entirely "meat free"… but to be put in a supposedly deluxe room at £189 for the night and to then have to put up with a wedding party directly beneath the room (58) playing loud music until 12.30am — and having to contend with the constant noise from the room above clearly allowing kids to run around the room all night and from 6am the next morning was unbearable. Add to this a swearing bar staff member, a toilet seat that had only one mounting bracket… a shower door with no seal at the bottom resulting in a wet tiled floor… no hook on the door and no bottles of water, tissue, shower gel or soap when we arrived — and you will understand why we checked out as soon as possible the next morning. Unimpressed and disappointed after what was supposed to be a relaxing weekend turned into an exhausting one.

My daughter and husband to be had their wedding at the hotel on Friday 12th October 2018. We stayed in the hotel the night before the wedding the rooms were nicely decorated, very clean and comfortable. We could see the preparations for the wedding taking place.
Breakfast before the big day was amazing, to describe the breakfast as continental does not do it justice. The amount of choice for breakfast was really good, freshly squeezed oranges, cereals, fruit, yoghurt, toast and pastries the list goes on. Cooked breakfast was delicious poached eggs were perfectly cooked as was my husbands omelette.
The venue was perfect the room where the ceremony took place looked stunning and the gardens for the photographs looked picture perfect. James and the hotel staff looked after us all day making sure everything was running smoothly. Staff made sure the corridors were clean after confetti was spilt on the carpets.
The afternoon tea was plentiful and catered for the vegetarians, gluten free and the guests who requested no butter or mayonnaise.
The evening buffet was really good with a choice of two hot dishes.
All of the guests commented on how nice the hotel and staff were. How nice their rooms were although some had quite a few stairs to contend with. There were positive comments about the food and all said what a great time they had and some were going to go and stay at the hotel again.

Lovely, professional, and very helpful staff. Remarkably clean and tidy, refurbished with taste. Delicious breakfasts (variety of very good quality food-seasonal fruits, freshly pressed juices, fishes, local cheeses, eggs with avocado and salmon, etc). Excellent quality for a fair price.

Loved the spa — modern and so relaxing. The restaurant was also excellent and so accommodating for dietary needs. Will definitely visit again.

A place with lots of character and even more stairs! Bedroom (59) was a great size, well decorated with a nice shower/bath ensuite. The TV needed upgrading but no other negatives. Initially I was disappointed that a full English breakfast was not available but the buffet spread was extensive and excellent quality.

Unfortunately my experience here was not a totally positive one. Loved the location. Staff were pleasant but room was not up to standard considering how much I paid. I expect milk to be provided when tea and coffee making facilities are offered. It was not! I expect the room to be cleaned including all of the previous guests belongings removed. It was not! Ladies underwear was left in the bedside draw… sorry but I was disgusted by this. When I expressed my disgust to reception the response was … ‘oh dear I don’t know why she left them’! Simply not good enough for a 4 star Hotel!

My best friend and I used the spa facilities here today. We had a treatment and the staff were lovely. We felt really relaxed and rejuvenated. The outdoor area was clean and tidy although smaller than we had expected so we would say it was only suitable for couples/small groups. Despite this we could not fault the service and will definitely be returning.

We really enjoyed our stay here. The staff were the most friendly and helpful we’ve had at any hotel. The room was comfortable and well presented. The food is excellent. And the spa is relaxing with the best treatments I’ve experienced. We will definitely return.

Stayed 2 years ago and returned last week for a 2 night stay to celebrate a family members 90th birthday. Couldn't have been happier. The rooms were elegant and very comfortable as before and the service & location outstanding. The meals we had were memorable — apparently the head chef worked in a Michelin star restaurant and it shows. We had a 6 course taster menu which was so good we are already planning a return soon. Last time we were here they were refurbishing the spa so we couldn't use it. This time we did and spent hours relaxing there, and had excellent massages too. They are still restoring this Grade 2 hotel, including the outdoor swimming pool which is spring water fed — I managed to have a dip and it was unusual & lovely swimming in water that didn't sting ones eyes and in fact was drinkable. I was told that the changing rooms and a few other things would be restored by my next stay. Also I am hoping to swim next time in their indoor spring water Roman pool which they kindly showed me. It looked better than the Roman baths in Bath and the thought that we could swim in it next time is something to look forward to. Just like last time, our abiding memory is the so relaxed atmosphere in this lovely establishment, such a break from city life/stresses. Cant wait to go back there!

Amazing stay last night very clean comfortable rooms. All the staff were very attentive which completed our experience. Breakfast was an amazing change, freshly prepared food not the usual bacon and sausage left under heat lamps. A much underrated hotel you will not be disappointed.

It is a very good hotel in a great location. There were some minor issues with our stay that affected the score. But the staff were extremely nice and whenever necessary apologised for an inconveniences.

Wonderful place, the staff were lovely and very helpful. One of the conveniences is that for some of the rooms, you can park directly in front of them-thus having very easy access. This added to the novelty of the recently refurbished building. Some aspects are inevitably more dated, but the rooms are spacious and clean with all the standard amenities. The highlights would be the spa services, if that interests you, and the wonderful breakfast. The breakfast includes a delightful selection of breads, cheeses and pastries — alongside a menu from which you can order hot food. This includes egg cooked in different ways in addition to classics such as salmon. The hot chocolate is exquisite, although strangely wasn't on the menu. Wi-Fi is slow in some rooms, most likely because of bring far from the modem (it's a very large building). We found that Internet speed improved drastically when positioned closer to the door.

A lovely hotel with sumptuous decor, our delightfully spacious de-luxe room was ruined on Saturday night as there was a wedding going on with a disco in the room immediately below, and even the spoons in our mugs were dancing to the pounding beat until twenty to one the next morning!

Only attended a wedding fayre at the hotel. The hotel is on the edge of Matlock in a quiet location with ample parking. The hotel looks nice and the staff are friendly but I cannot comment further as I never stayed there.

Beyond expectations. Proper cooked breakfast, jacuzzi, sauna, nice rooms and clean. Highly recommended.

Good location, 5 minute walk from the main part of Matlock Bath. Room was fine, eventually, as the first they gave us was not up the the standard we expected from the pictures we booked from. Food in the restaurant was good, if nothing too exciting. Didn't get to try the spa.

Very comfortable room, extremely pleasant and attentive staff, continental breakfasts with a really wide selection plus a good range of hot egg dishes (poached, scrambled boiled, omelettes etc). Bar snacks throughout the day, evening meals very good but only one vegetarian dish on the menu which could become boring for vegetarians staying more than one night.

Lovely hotel with comfortable rooms. We were lucky to get an upgrade due to my injured leg. The evening meal was excellent and breakfast was continental style. As it was a Spa hotel disappointed that there was no spa treatments available on our 2nd day, both staff were off!

Fantastic location for walking or enjoying Matlock Bath. Disappointed we couldn't book for dinner when we checked in as all slots had already been taken up by 5pm. Room was lovely, with everything you could need. Unfortunately the wall between room 4 and 5 was paper thin, meaning we were kept awake by nightmarish levels of snoring from our next door neighbour! Book only if you are a very deep sleeper, or remember to bring ear plugs!

Would have been 4 star but we didn't receive any information when we arrived. Having been bought a nights retreat for this hotel. We turned up to be told "here's your keys" instead of "afternoon tea is at 4pm (your booked for this), the spa is open until 5:30, dinner is from 7pm (your booked for this) and breakfast starts at 7am (your booked for this). So instead I had to call reception several times just to find out what we were there for. And as the booking confirmation never came through to the purchaser we had no other way of knowing what we were doing. Additionally there was no mention of the Internet code until I asked. There was heavy dust on the room door jars, sash window tops and the Queen bed was compact at best. All said, the general manager was very welcoming and the even meal food was great. In the morning we did get an apology for the lack of information we received… But the moment had gone. We are considering staying again as a lot of the issues were with people and not the place, which is quite nice.

What a strange hotel. It has the faded feel and outward presence of a 4/5 star hotel. The staff are very friendly. Breakfast choice is very limited, in fact the buffet at the weekend constantly runs out, bacon is not on offer and in the very limited continental choice, no ham. In fact I would say that the hotel is either Halal or Kosher run. Disabled access is very poor indeed as well and even those with limited mobility but "walking wounded" will find the stairs a nightmare. As I type this at the breakfast table in the hotel, someone is complaining that there are no plates now. I get the feeling that the hotel is run on a very tight budget and is desperately trying to avoid becoming a "coach party" hotel. Sorry for the poor review, as I said, the staff are lovely, but what is going on behind the scenes.

Had a 3 night stay. Hotel on the whole was good value for money. Booked a superior room which wasn't but was upgraded to a suite without any problem, which was excellent. Only complaint was breakfast. Beef sausages and no bacon doesn't constitute an English breakfast. This could cost them custom in the future. Staff were very helpful but a little slow with clearing away breakfast plates etc.

We recently got married at New Bath Hotel and Spa and everyone went above and beyond to make our day fantastic. The food was great along with the bedrooms. The whole team, from the restaurant, housekeeping and front of house, were attentive and lovely throughout our stay and nothing was too much trouble. Alison and Natalie were great with our wedding planning from start to finish and on the day excelled themselves with their hospitality and management. The hotel itself is beautiful and we have enjoyed a few meals and visits to the spa which we will do again.

The hotel was very nice, but the evening meal was very slow, when it did arrive it was very good. The breakfast was good except there was NO bacon served with a full English breakfast, due to the religion of the owners. I think this is totally wrong of them to press their religion on a Hotel were all religions would want to visit. SO if you like bacon don't go. The staff were very good and the rooms were lovely. I know that its still being done up, and I wish you well with your hotel.

Stayed here 2nights 14/15 June. From our arrival to leaving we found the staff extremely helpful and welcoming. The young lady on reception went out of her way to change our room when we expressed concern over the road noise. Actually, we would have been fine as the hotel is very quiet. Breakfast was excellent, lots of choice, which changed each day. Melissa remembered my husbands order for an espresso coffee! Most hotels are not as accommodating. Clean. Comfortable beds. Helpful friendly staff. Would stay again, would recommend to friends or family.
