We arrived at the property at the time that we had previously arranged with the owner and were met with enthusiasm and politeness — always a good start. Parking is on the property, right next to the building and tucked around the corner, so nicely out of the way — reversing in is recommended. It was evident that we would all get on well. We were given the choice of rooms available, which we liked, as it meant that all rooms were in a 'ready-to-go' state, whether booked or not. Another plus. Our chosen room was excellent and exactly fit for purpose for our needs. The en-suite was spotless, with a good supply of towelling and soaps/shampoos, in case you'd forgotten anything. The bedding clean and crisp and we had no trouble with extraneous noises (internal or external) throughout our stay. Small TV to catch up with the news and tea/coffee/water/biscuits. Wi-Fi also available 24/7. Breakfast was presented extremely well, the choice extensive and cooked to order (no heated 'Bain-Marie' here.! ). Plenty of places to find and try for the lunch and evening meals. Local 15th century pub, serves a nice selection of traditional pub fare and a 'specials board' if you choose not to travel too far. The location of Hazel's Roost, is perfect for those who are used to the 'Dales' experience or new to it. It's very well serviced by road and there are a myriad of walks, caves (and creamery) and other attractions to keep you well occupied. Main towns are close by and York, is just over an hours drive away, if you need to keep in touch with Urban-Life. Our hosts were an excellent source of local knowledge to help get to know the area. This will hopefully not be the last trip we will make to Bainbridge and if available, we know where we will pause when we revisit.
