Cannot recommend enough if travelling with a dog. Adore the tennis ball. The breakfast was sublime. Ellie was so kind to our dog Willow. Maybe a dog menu for breakfast. Car park charge bit expensive.

We’ve stayed at the wild boar before. We really like the feel of the place. Food is lovely, we had evening meal and breakfast. The staff are attentive. You do need a car as it’s not in Windermere itself. It has an old fashioned look to it inside and the rooms but that’s in character with the place. We will definitely be staying again at some point.

Very, very poor veggie options although quite tasty it was totally overpriced for the portion of food you actually recieve. The meat eater options were very good, but if you have a vegetarian in your party, don't book here. Definitely poor value for money.

Thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Particular highlights were the super friendly and very accommodating staff, the excellent food and that it was dog friendly. The 75 acre woods behind our accommodation was a real bonus. Can't wait to return.

Had a really amazing meal here for my birthday. Everything was amazing start to finish and the staff were so friendly and helpful and the food was incredible. Would definitely recommend and we will definitely be returning in the future.

We had the 'alternative afternoon tea'. It was absolutely delicious. Couldn't eat it all, so staff provided cake boxes to take our deserts home! Service was fantastic and the decor was amazing, so much to look at! Will definitely be back again! ♥︎

We were meant to have the picnic afternoon tea but due to bad weather we were accommodated inside.
The food was beautiful and arrived quite quickly, asked plenty if everything was alright or if we needed anything else.

We only stopped at the restaurant but have nothing but high praise for the staff, the seating arrangements (and comfort) and especially for the delicious food. Well worth every penny.

Currently staying here celebrating numerous family occasions! Our room is modern and clean with fabulous ‘White Company’ toiletries. The staff are extremely polite, helpful and friendly. Our family dogs have accompanied us on our trip and the woodland walks are a real winner with them! Will definitely be returning.

We had our Wedding at Undermillbeck at the Wild Boar on the 5th of April. We had the best day celebrating and couldn’t have asked for more, all our guests passed comment about what a lovely day they all had. Staff were great and food excellent! Thank you so much to all those involved in our special day.

We are currently on mini-moon reliving the incredible wedding day which we had at the Wild Boar. Jeanette, Irene and team did an incredible job of looking after us and ensuring that all our requests were taken care of. We all had the best time. The food was unbelievable, the staff were so friendly and nothing was too much trouble. And our friends and family have all commented the same! Having planned weddings myself for 9 years, I can genuinely say that on the day I had no …worries at all. I knew that everything was in the best hands. Jeanette, Irene, George, Adam and Natalia — you guys are outstanding and without your help, humour and advice the day would not have been the same. We got married at the Wild Boar last year & came back for our first anniversay. What can I say other than the staff were wonderful & nothing was too much trouble for them as it was at our wedding which was really special. Our room was fantastic & the food good as always. We returned to the lake via the woodland walk where we'd gone in the land rover to where our wedding photos had been taken. Just like last year the weather was perfect — the sun was shining & the autumn colours were stunning. Thanks to all the staff who made it such a memorable stay & we'll definately be back!

Great food, great drink and a lovely atmosphere, the staff are very nice and also very helpful. There are also function rooms to hire which we did, and would use again as they are spacious and well lit.

Lovely hotel, staff and food… But. If you are allergic to. Or don't like dogs. Beware. We were unfortunate enough to share with at least 10! They are allowed in bar and lounge. Very noisy with barking etc. Has put us off returning…

Over on holiday in the Lake District for a few days and called in on Friday 12 August around 5pm. Asked if it was possible to have a meal for two. The waiter said she would have to ask the manager if we could be accommodate seeing that they had quite a lot of bookings for that evening. She came back with a lame excuse that they had a wedding the next day (what that had to do with serving a meal on Friday is beyond me) and therefore were unable to help us out. I know that where I come from (Ulster) we would go out of our way to accommodate visitors to our shores. Can’t see me ever returning to the wild boar.

I got married there a week ago and it was the best day of my life. All my ideas came to life nothing was too much trouble the staff were brilliant. The food was amazing all of my guests couldn't stop talking about it. Highly recommend this beautiful place.

Great place for food and also a place to enjoy a fantastic range of whiskey. Keep an eye out for the whiskey tasting evenings which are very enjoyable and informative. Staff very helpful and friendly.

Mixed experience! As a b&b, it’s great: fantastic room, stylishly decorated, very clean, very well equipped. I’ve worked in hospitality and it feels like housekeeping take pride in offering a lovely experience. If you like walking and nature there’s the huge bonus of stunning woodland, full of bluebells and wildlife, which is owned by the hotel. There are signposted walks and fitness equipment and loads of information to help you appreciate the beautiful surroundings. There’s even a tarn with a bird hide. However… I wouldn’t bother eating dinner here. The food aspires to be something it isn’t, yet the prices are surprisingly high. The staff were all friendly and pleasant but the service was terrible. It took 40 minutes to get our drinks at dinner. There were a few lazy substitutes in the food we ordered, like a sharing plate that was meant to include hand cooked vegetable crisps but what appeared was just a pot of cheap ready-salted. The rolls were obviously stale and then reheated so hot they shattered like glass. The ‘triple cooked chips’ weren’t even once-cooked! The waitress offered to bring the dessert menu but when she hadn’t returned after 10 minutes we just left… No-one really asked if our meal was ok, but perhaps that’s because they didn’t want to hear our answer! In summary: I would recommend The Wild Boar as a place to stay but really don’t come here to eat.

Very over-valued. It's a nice hostel, but too big with too many people. The food is good, but not extraordinary either. If you have seen pictures of spas and swimming pool, know that they are not in the hostel, but well within 20 min of car. Big fake publicity. Finally my window was broken and they did nothing for.

Amazing and romantic time in the wild boar! Fantastic staff and ambiance. Very friendly and personable people. The food in the inn was spectacular and portions are huge. Breakfast was gorgeous as well. Really nice trail around back with complimentary use of their wellies and umbrellas if needed. And comfy lounge with fireplaces dotted around. Great after a nice long walk. Apparently the afternoon tea is famous there. Room was beautiful and super comfy. They offer turn down service. Bathroom was clean but probably could do with a refresh. We can sense the inn was very eco friendly which was a nice touch. Short drive to most villages and lakes. Extremely relaxing stay. Thanks to the staff at the wild boar.

Fantastic Mother’s Day lunch combined with a birthday. Sunday roast is exceptional and good value. They were really helpful with our birthday cake too and got candles for us as I’d forgotten. Great friendly service in a super charming location. Highly recommend.

Top notch food, but a little bit pricey if your a bit conscience with the cash. On arrival it's a little bit misleading as the outside on first impression is a little neglected but as you walk into the restaurant area you will be pleasantly surprised by an open kitchen and quirky features. Food was fabulous, service was great and we'll worth a visit if you're not on a budget. As a guide for the two of us (starters, mains, one was a stake, one ajde, a Coke and a beer) came to £73. Pricer than your usual pub and grub but like I said, food is top notch :) enjoy!

This is an outstanding place! A bit on the pricey side but worth every penny. Have stayed here numerous times and always dine here if we're in the area. Atmosphere is always excellent, staff are great and the food and drinks are second to none. Pub is cosy with real fires and a great selection of home brewed ales and the food is always cooked to perfection. Outdoor walks on the land are fab too — great all round base for exploring the lake district.

Amazing place and location. This hotel has its own micro brewery and smokehouse. I love the food. Prices are as you would expect. Service excellent. Rooms superb. Booked to stay over in OCTOBER. Lo9k8ng forward to it.

Such a cozy and beautiful pub/ hotel with very comfortable and tasteful bedrooms, each with a pig themed name and artwork. We stayed for a wedding that was beautiful and really warm and friendly atmosphere, however low ceilings and smaller rooms may not feel grand enough for some people's wedding.

A wonderful, warm & welcoming atmosphere, with an open log fire burning away in the entrance reception/bar area. Very friendly, attentive and helpful staff. The dining area was well laid out, well presented and comfortable, everyone in our party of 4 had an enjoyable experience, after selecting from the vast choice of food available on the menu, which had something to suit almost all tastes, the food was tasty and all arrived quickly with almost no waiting time between courses which I think was largely down to the efficiency and observence of the staff members working there. A brilliant evening had by all, we will definitely return and recommend to anyone looking for somewhere to eat out.

A favourite when we are in the area. Stayed 3 times now and dined there even more. Friendly and welcoming with a great parcel of land to explore out the back. Can't wait for my next visit.

My wife and myself had the pleasure of staying this weekend. Wonderful experience my personal favourites being the tomahawk steak and the real Ale brewed in house. The hotel staff were attentive and accommodating from the second we arrived until our departure (especially the wee Scotsman on reception) The woods outback are ideal for light stroll to blow off any cobwebs. We both look forward to returning soon and would like to thank everyone at The wild boar inn for s fantastic weekend.

Stayed here for one night, the bed was really comfortable and the room very clean, the staff were friendly and the breakfast fantastic, would definitely recommend.

I love this place. Fabulous country Inn with lovely rooms and a fab micro brewery. Food in the restaurant is top notch. Always a pleasure to stay for a few nights.

We stayed over as wedding guests and everything about the hotel was excellent, the interior is tastefully maintained keeping it's rustic charm, whilst adding modern amenities to keep the guests happy. Watch out for the low beams that come with this type of property! The bedroom was nice overlooking the front and the food in the restaurant and breakfast was top notch. The staff did a great job and we look forward to visiting again!

Wow. What a lovely surprise. AWESOME venue, hotel and great friendly staff. Cannot recommend this place enough, a true hidden gem in the already stunning Windermere area of lake district. You got to visit this place.

The rooms are pleasant and the service friendly, however the best reason to visit the Wild Boar Hotel is the food. They have their own smokehouse and the meat in particular is a real treat. I've visited a number of times over the last couple of years and the wonderful food has never disappointed. I've usually got a deal and end up paying around £200 for dinner, bed and breakfast for two people. Highly recommended.

Stayed Friday Saturday nights DBB. Our room was a disappointment! Room 7 to me is not a Feature room, and I think must be one of the last rooms to be booked, you certainly wouldn't choose it! pricey for what it is and I'm not sure what the"feature"of the room is meant to be! Surely not their very dated bathroom with tiny bath very poor shower and lack of any kind of heating, no where to dry your towel after your very uncomfortable bath or shower! This aside food was very good staff pleasant surroundings lovely although each night the fire in the seating area of the restaurant was neglected and as a result was out by the time you sat to have coffee or a drink after your meal. This is our third visit and would go again making sure we never got room 7 again, come on WB either down grade the room or do something to the bathroom it sure needs it!

Amazing smoked meats with truly friendly and helpful staff in the lake district. We visited the restaurant and although it was fully booked the manager help us find a table by the fire in the bar. The food was delicious and our waiter Alejandro was really attentive and helpful throughout the whole meal. Will strongly recommend!

Hotel, Bar, Restaurant, Brewery, Nature Reserve. The Wild Boar has it all! The rooms are fantastic, the bar is incredibly cosy and full of charm with their own ales brewed on site being served. There is also a smokehouse providing smoked meats for the amazing restaurant and to top it off there's a large area of land full of deer and wildlife leading up to a beautiful tarn. Absolutely amazing place.

Weekend wedding at a lovely country hotel in a rural setting. All the rooms are decorated beautifully, beds are super comfy and excellent amenities. Nice in-room tea/coffee selection, lovely White Company bath products and the food is AMAZING. Highly recommended.

My wife and I recently spend our wedding anniversary at the Wild Boar after getting married here last year. It’s such a lovely hotel the staff are always friendly and welcoming. The food is exceptional. The rooms all have bundles of character. Also if you get a chance to go shooting with Michael Coates then I can fully recommend it!

Beautiful location but we didn't get a chance to eat there after making a deliberate journey to the place. They said they were booked up fully for the next 4 nights for dinner even though we visited during school term time on a Thursday. The place also didn't smell too great in my opinion.

Went there with a friend who was planning her daughter's wedding. We only dropped things off but we were made very welcome and got a coffee on the house! Lovely quaint old building.

This was an unexpectedly enjoyable stay. We spent the night here because we dined at the nearby Gilpin. Consequently we didn't expect such a good experience. Attached to the hotel are vast woodlands, they have Wellington Boots to borrow to explore the grounds. The rooms are decorated in a quirky manner and have DVD players with a good selection of DVDs at reception. All very enjoyable, great staff and breakfast was top notch too. The rooms are fairly cosy and hallways narrow, big this doesn't detract from the stay. Would happily return.

Had lunch in The Wild Boar Inn today. Absolutely stunning food and stunning restaurant. Absolute must if you visit The Lakes. I had a Deli Board, which was enormous, to start. For our mains, my partner had the chicken dish from the grill and I had a burger. Really really great food. It is the type of you food you think of when you go to the Lakes.

Just had food and it was fantastic. Loved it. Everything about this place is superb. The staff are friendly and knowledgeable (ask about the rock in the middle of the restaurant). The best restaurant toilets I have been in for a long time. Great old world charm throughout. Well done you easily deserve 5 stars.

Attended for a meeting in the fabulous Undermillbeck room. Facilities were superb, well looked after by the staff and for style and attention detail it knocks dull conference rooms out of the ballpark.

The food and beers are fabulous but the 'waterfall' urinal should be on Cumbria's must visit list.

This was a return visit to The Wild Boar for a birthday lunch and as expected, it did not disappoint. I would have been content with the homemade pork scratchings and local ale, but my wife and I shared a Deli platter too. The selection of cured and smoked meats were delicious and included a smoked pickled egg, which is something that I could become addicted too. This is our third visit to The Wild Boar and cannot find fault with food, accommodation, bar and restaurant atmosphere. We are looking forward to their Smoking, Ale and Whiskey tasting weekend in November this year. Fantastic.

Stayed for a weekend recently as was at a wedding there. Real cosy hotel. Could not fault it. Food and accomadation was just top notch. They just didn't have any Guinness! Though their home brew beer and ale more than compensated. All the staff were extremely nice and more than accomadating. Will diffinitely be recommending it to all. *****.

The food here is excellent and the choice of beer for real ale fans is excellent. Less choice for larger drinkers. They have a smoke house next door for the best smoke food in the restaurant. Clay pigeon shooting at the rear too. A must visit for everyone.

The menu looked interesting and the bar has a good range of drinks but the pleasant atmosphere was ruined by the head water. He was far too loud and I watched him be quite rude to some foreign visitors who couldn't understand his English. With the Lake District benefiting so much from tourists, to see and hear his attitude made me uncomfortable. All restaurant and hotel staff, especially front of house, should be polite to the customers, and particularly elderly foreign guests; I felt so sorry for the guests and embarrassed for the waiter who didn't seem to realise how rude he was being. Not sure why there were lots of empty whiskey packages on the window sill — looked odd.

This Smokehouse restaurant offers some fantastic food. The smoked steaks are delicious although they need to pay better attention to how much they cook the meat. The beers on tap are very good. I nice place out although possibly a little pricy.

We cannot recommend this place enough. Great setting, nice spacious layout inside, decor and furniture. Very friendly and helpful staff throughout. But the overall winner is the food. Exceptional is not a word I use for dining out, but this was something else. Great wine selection too at very reasonable prices. My wife was very happy as I didnt have one thing to complain about and we both left very satisfied. My view is that if I can do better at home then why pay someone else. Will definitely be returning at some point, even if just to try the pork crackling and homemade apple sauce starter. Simply amazing.

Although the newly refurbished rooms are great, the older ones are dire to say the least. considering the cost of them, I would have expected at the very least freshly painted walls, and a new carpet if they could not afford to refurbish. the.
