Worst experience ever! Small dated chipped furniture, dirty bathroom, and not to mention the fact there was an event on until 12 which shot vibrations up through our bedroom floor. Restaurant was shut due to this party so had to venture out in the wet and cold. Appalled at being ignored when we contacted the hotel as we had NO warning there could be noise due to the event. As two hard working parents that booked a little treat to do the children's shopping we were looking forward to a nice quiet evening. Had a bath and there was scumy marks and something slimey hanging from the tap. Paid £145 room only for four hours sleep. We ran from this hotel at 7am it was horrible. Not like the photos at all. Thanks for ignoring our complaint, too! Very professional…

Here for a training course, excellent gluten free food provided, lovely people and superb venue.

Good breakfast. Pleasant staff, well positioned for city centre. The elevators are temperamental and seem to breakdown a lot. As a city centre hotel I prefer this hotel in Bristol and the car park next door is better than the car park next to the other Mercure up the road.

Stayed for one night and had a nice, spacious room looking out onto the river. I liked the modern ambience of my room and the queen bed was ok, even though it was slightly too hard for me I still managed to get a good nights sleep. However the best thing about this hotel is the city centre location. Nicely perched on the riverside and just mere seconds to all the nice craft beer pubs on King Street. Will stay again!

Lovely stay, staff most helpful, Roos most comfortable.

Booked via booking. Com when I arrived to be told they do not accept cash I had no card on me as I lost it so was refused check in which is ridiculous I had my passport and cash to pay and I was refused. No apologies from the so called manager who was extremely rude! Would not recommend or stay here again based on first impressions shame as the rooms as nice and it’s good a location. Never have this issue with an IHG hotel much better service all round.

This is a review from a trainer perspective. The picture shows the view from the training room. Staff were excellent assisting with setup. Room layout was all as specified. This venue is a little way from Temple Meads Station but given its riverside location it is worth the short walk. I would be happy to use this venue for more training in the future.

1. After checking-in I immediately found that 2 out of our 4 pillows are dirty — with even pink makeup marks left on the pillow cover. 2. The room service took away my own towel (which is new). When I requested for BRAND NEW ones to take away for my remaining journey, they gave me two reused towels with one of them having black stains on it… So I definitely did not take them. When I reported the issue to the receptionist during check out, the gentleman appeared to be quite indifferent — “we borrow our towels from the room services so you cannot take away them”. Clearly, the Room service definitely not doing their job properly in this hotel, which is disgusting.

Very nice place to stay. Nice air conditioned room and excellent breakfast although not cheap at 140 per room. Just a shame about the parking which is a very big no no and a total rip off a (discounted! ) For the adjacent NCP if £17.50. Better trying to part in little King street at £4.50 for an overnight stay. Only 2 minute walk to hotel!

Beautiful hotel in a superb, chilled location on the riverbank. Food and drink good in the restaurant. Privilege rooms very comfortable. Points off for a broken lift when we arrived. Fixed quickly though.

Good points. Location, handy for the both the harbour area and city centre. Plenty of restaurants nearby. Comfy bed, tidy room. Not so good points. Naff pillows, lacklustre breakfast. 1 of the 2 lifts was out of order during our stay, which is no big deal, just longer times hanging around for lift. Then in the morning there was no hot water until 10am, the boiler broke down.

It's fine for a midweek work trip. Great location. Decent room and breakfast.

Gone downhill slightly! Balcony door wouldn't lock, safe not working, chipped sink and cooked breakfast dried up and hard. River view room but now obstructed by tree height. Coffee machine needing a good clean. Stayed here a few times over the years but unfortunately will now be going elsewhere. Room clean otherwise.

Great location and picturesque on the river. Rooms are very comfortable with TV in the tub. Staff is friendly and the restaurant is great for breakfast and dinner.

Lovely view onto the river. Immaculate room and helpful staff on the desk! Lovely stay great for a weekend getaway as shops and harbourside 5 minute walk either way.

Myself and my husband stayed here on Friday and were greeted by very friendly reception staff, The room we stayed in was wonderful and had everything you need! The bed was very comfortable overall a wonderful stay over looking the water, will definitely be returning. Thank you.

Great location, staff and food. Would definitely stay again. We had the Privilege Suite which had fantastic views on the Waterside and Quay. Easy walking distance of Bristol city center and all main venues and attractions. 25% discount given by the hotel if you use the NCP carpark next door, so don't forget to ask!

The reception was lovely and extremely helpful for everything! The room was super clean and everything you'd ever want. Even a TV to watch at the bath haha. We looked over the river and was very quiet. Didn't hear anything. Definitely recommend.

Very friendly and accommodating staff who were always there to help. The room for the price was absolutely fantastic! It was well furnished, the bed was comfortable and the bath had a TV in it which was a surreal yet fun addition! The hotel is in a great location for the local night life and places to eat and it wasn't loud either and I got a great nights sleep. I would hugely recommend here over any of the other similar priced hotels.

Stayed here for one night with breakfast. The hotel is in a good spot for central businesses and night spots. Check in was easy but took another visit to reversion to get my key card to work. The rooms are very nice and have comfortable large beds. The bathrooms are lovely with bath an walk in shower. There is a small television over the bath built within the tiles which is very handy. There is a safe and iron and ironing board which is very useful. I found the walls of the room quite thin as could hear phone calls being made in other rooms and hairdryers late at night and early morning. Breakfast was a good choice but only medium sized plates put out for fried breakfast. The bar is nice and prices not too bad, they also have happy hours.

Hotel is a good location. Staff were friendlly & helpful. Hotel itself was ok but needs an upgrade. House keeping standards were excellent. Noise level was poor as the walls are paper thin. Would not return.

Great location for shopping and nightlife. Hotel room was a bit tired and no working lifts working for our stay meant a trek up six floors of stairs. Bed was particularly uncomfortable. The view over the river was nice and the staff were pleasant. Wouldn't be in a hurry to book again.

We booked a table for Buttermilk and Maple (the restaurant in the Mecure hotel) for our works Christmas Party. We were all very impressed with the restaurant, they coped with our booking for 40 people very well. The food was lovely, drinks were flowing and the staff were all very attentive. I would recommend.

This hotel is fine but there are a few things that need to be pointed out. First, the rooms are very comfortable but would benefit from a small redecorating. They are a bit old fashioned and, in my opinion, tacky. The bathroom contains a bathtub and a shower area which is great but when you look closer, the equipment is old and a bit run down. The doors are not very well sound insulated so it is quite common to hear people in the hallway. The breakfast is good if you like the regular British breakfast. It lacks sweet options and mostly offer savoury items.

Generally, a pleasant and relaxing experience was has. Clean and right-sized room with pleasing contemporary decor. Plenty of space for storing clothes and still supplying an iron and board which is a nice touch. Good shower and a TV over the bath, if that's your sort of thing. Simple tea & coffee making facilities for an emergency cuppa. The hotel is in a central location and only a short walk from all the shopping, eating, drinking and nightlife areas. There was a little bit of noise from other guests and the street below but you can't fault the hotel for these issues at this price and location. We've been here before and we'll probably come back again.

Great one night stay at the Mercure Brigstow. We close to stay here due to the ideal central location, literally next door to several great bars and restaurants. Lovely room, the comfy bed and shower were particular highlights! Excellent breakfast in the morning, followed by a quick an efficient check out. Would highly recommend to anyone looking for a central Bristol stay.

Very nice hotel near the Harbour.

The Mercure hotel is located in the middle of Bristol, right by the river on a traffic-calmed road. The rooms are modern and very cosy. The bathroom is slightly small, but adequate. The restaurant looks very welcoming — the food (breakfast & dinner) is very tasty — the service very helpful and courteous.

The bar is well sorted and the beds large but a bit hard. Parking only in the neighboring NCP parking garage. Mercure, though, gives a 25% discount. Then a night costs just under £16.
Breakfast is English or continental. Both very good.

The facilities are good but some things are a bit old, the breakfast is quite varied and complete.

Hotel is nice and central location, but it's slap bang in student central. Also only river side rooms have views the rest open out to a loading bay and block of drab flats. The rooms are a good size and clean. Biggest negative is the parking, the website says it has parking, it doesnt, it gives you a 25% discount on the NCP carpark which still comes out at £15 a night which is an utter rip off as other hotels like the Hilton's charge a flat fiver. Had I known the parking was so expensive I would never have booked and would have stayed at another hotel.

Had a lovely room with a view of the river. Room us comfy and has everything you need. Perfect location for going to the waterfront, Cabot and even Clifton. Either its a pretty walk or an easy bus to get up to Clifton village. Lots of pubs, bars and restaurants nearby.

Well equipped contemporary hotel rooms in a fantastic location with riverside views. The breakfast options are top-notch, including items such as smoked kippers on the made-to-order menu.

Me and my partner stayed one night. Room was lovely and well priced. We chose not to eat in the resturant as we know Bristol and knew alotnof placese to eat. For an over night stay perfect.

Had a great time at this Bristol based hotel. The room was spacious and well thought through. Great river views. Very comfortable bed. The eat all you like breakfast was available on Sunday until midday. The location of the hotel is also perfect — far enough from the centre of town for relative quiet. Close enough to make it an easy walk to all major city centre attractions. Cannot recommend enough!

Good experience — what you'd expect from Mercure. Room was clean, modern and well furnished, room overlooked the river. Good location for exploring the centre of Bristol. A short walk from the harbour and plenty of pubs and bars nearby.

I had a Great room, the hotel was right on the rivers edge and the service was good, I would definitely stay here again. I can whole heartedly recommended staying here.

Stayed November 2014. Sounded great and loved harbour view but really uncomfortable. Had a poor night's sleep (hence typing this at 6am) — pillows hard, scratchy and synthetic bed very small (even though booked "superior" room). Not staying here again.

I booked this hotel with high expectations due to it's great location and reasonably good reviews. However, I was bitterly disappointed not only in the standard of the room but also the service. Yes, I found the impressive room deal through Expedia but even so, I expect the toilet to work and decent customer service from staff. Not that I can overly blame the poor receptionist, she seemed to be the only person working! I won't be recommending this hotel in future.

We stayed at this hotel for the weekend for my husbands birthday, very friendly staff, surroundings were great as was the room on the fourth floor overlooking the harbourside. Great location as within the Old City and all was within walking distance. No problem parking as multi storey nearby and 25% discount on parking rates offered by the hotel. Wide range of good food offered at breakfast and offered until very civilised hours for the weekend. Will definitely stay here again on next visit to the city.
