Very peaceful atmosphere good rooms loved the history that is around the hotel and all staff were helpful. There was a excellent range for breakfast. We would stay here again.

A really beautiful hotel. The room we stayed in was the Victoria and was really lovely. The food in the restaurant staff was really friendly as was the reception staff+ the food was lovely. We thourgly enjoyed our stay + will decently be back again.

Not had the best stay with our virgin experience at your hotel! Quite rude staff in the restaurant, that through no fault of our own was told that (in front of a busy restaurant) quite loudly we weren’t payers so we couldn’t have the option wanted! (Wrong menu given on in check in) The shower constantly dripped all night, so loud, I got no sleep that night. I have emailed hotel directly and still waiting for a response as yet! Cannot believe I had waited to go here for some time to be treated this way!

Lovely hotel with beautiful rooms. Really convenient as it’s next to the train station and short walk to shops, restaurants and bars. Very helpful staff.

Very friendly staff. Good food. Comfortable room — it actually has 2 chairs! A step back in time! So wonderfully old fashioned it's brilliant with its revoving doors and huge "Hello Dolly " staircase — I only wish I'd packed my feathers!

Amazing Hotel. Had this booked through a Wowcher such a bargain. The three course meal was gorgeous and the rooms big and clean. Bottles of Prosecco included and the breakfast had such amazing choice. The grounds of the hotel and the history of the Hotel was amazing! Defo stay here again :) )

What a week in that hotel, we even had a Christmas present from the staff and me and my misses loved it. Highly recommended very clean rooms nice and big enough for young couple, clean bathrooms, everything just was perfect in that hotel, the only minus is that covid thing which is not their fault, deffo we will come back again stay safe guys and merry Christmas and Happy New year to all of you from now :)

Lovely hotel with good facilities. Our room was spacious with a great bathroom. All Covid guidelines adhered to throughout the hotel including breakfast which was plentiful and all served at the table. Highly recommended.

Great value for money, a pity the restaurant or bar hadn’t opened after lockdown. The public rooms looked lovely but again they were out of bounds. Continental breakfast was delivered to our rooms. Would like to stay again when life gets back to normal.

Myself and my cousin went for an overnight stay. The reception staff we're very friendly and helpful. The room was absolutely gorgeous we we're very impressed as it was better than we expected. We loved the garden with fountain felt very chilled. We will definitely be coming back. Thanks.

I have stayed here a few times and we are coming back next week. We had a lovely stay and the staff were very friendly. However last time we came we had to pay 15 pounds for the car park, which in my opiniin is so bad if you are staying at the hotel. The welcome in Stratford upon avon was free as long as you put in your car reg at reception.

Had a fantastic stay for our wedding anniversary, the waiting staff in the restaurant were all great but our waiter Matthew was exceptional, his care for detail was great and he really spoilt us for the evening. Thank you to all the staff.

Friendly staff and characterful building containing lots of history inside. Some areas now looking a little worn and in need of renovation however at time of writing this is ongoing. Food excellent and prices very keen for the area. Free Wi-Fi far superior to others paid Broadband. … Highly recommend and close to the railway station. Parking is not free although the hotel can offer a good rate.

Fantastic rooms. Polite staff. Fantastic breakfast, nice evening meal. Very clean. Just the bar prices are extortionate which is why I've only give it 4 stars. But there's a pub which is reasonable opposite the hotel.

This was part of the Vegan festival venue so can't really comment on the service and rooms. But visually the hotel looks very high end. It was unclear how involved the venue was in the Vegan festival because signage was slightly unclear and we didn't know where we were allowed to sit and eat. I felt uncomfortable when we asked for cutlery to eat with, which I thought was reasonable considering the hotel was host to festival, to then be treated with (what I thought was) sarcasm. Slightly rude looking back. But on the whole, the festival was nice. Directly opposite the train station too which was handy :)

Several beautiful lounge areas ideal for a spot of lunch or a quiet cocktail. Located in the city centre close to the train station and plenty of local amenities. Rooms were comfortable but a bit musty. We had a large booking with several rooms due to a family wedding. One room was not cleaned properly (used sanitary towels in the bathroom bin) and another hadn't been cleaned at all since the previous guests checked out. This was less than ideal as we checked in after midnight and had to wait for the rooms to be cleaned by the reception staff. After speaking with the reception staff it became apparent that the hotel has recently been taken over by hallmark and this was more likely a teething issue rather than incompetence.

Located directly across from the train station, this hotel is well positioned within the city & is only a 10 minute walk away from the heart of Chester. The hotel was clean & had a classy old aged feel to it. Our room was satisfactory & the breakfast was very good, with a variety of foods to suite all tastes. We would certainty stay here again.

Stayed for 2 nights wonderful hotel would recommend very well run room was spacious and clean. Restaurant was excellent both breakfast and evening meal. Staff were extremely friendly and happy and helpful. Easy walk into Chester. 5 star treatment all round, thank you queen's hotel.

I really wish I could give them a 3.5 as most of my issues are not something they can fix but it's something that must be considered when deciding to stay here. My room was on the first floor and was large compared to most in Europe, it had very nice high ceilings and the bed was very comfortable. The room did not have AC and there was no fans provided (probably could have requested one). We ate dinner here and it was very good and the service was good. The staff at the bar was great. The hotel is very neat with lots of little areas to check out. There was live music for dinner and also for breakfast. The major issue I had was how hot it got at night. We left the window open but it didn't help much. The other issue which is mostly chance was we had a room on the ground floor on the street so throughout the night people (most likely intoxicated) walked past our window talking quite loudly to each other. This along with the heat made it difficult to sleep. Not much the staff can do about either of those but something that's got to be considered. If I could guarantee myself a room on the 2nd or 3rd floor on a quiet street I'd have said 4 stars hands down but it just didn't happen as such.

Couldn’t fault The Queen — attentive staff, large and very clean room — reasonable rate and excellent breakfast! Beautiful decor and cool gardens. Recommended. A bit of a trek to city centre but more than ideal for the station. It’s across the road!

Stayed here yesterday, room was very small and in need of redecoration all round. Bed was very uncomfortable, bath had been cracked and filled, grout in bathroom tiles were showing signs of mould, carpet was stained n generally dirty. Had breakfast there this morning, there was no milk on table for hot drinks. When we asked for some lady merely picked one up from a table nearby that had just been vacated and bought it straight to our table, so we had a used bottle of milk instead of a freshly cleaned and refilled bottle how do we know how long that had been out on the table for. Very poor standard of food hygiene in my oppinion. Also noticed there was a serviette under 1 leg of dinning table to stop it rocking looked totally unprofesional defo not a 5 star hotel. Such a shame as the building itself is beautifull just lacking the beautifull look on the inside would not stay there again sorry.

Don't know about Hallark hotels in general but the Queens in Chester was excellent, I booked a family room to take my eldest grandaughter and great grandchildren for a break which included tickets to Chesters magnificent Zoo. Well, the room was huge, more than enough bed space for us, breakfast good, staff very helpful, could not fault it, some people have said the hote l shows signs of tiredness, it is big and must be a major cost to modernise but we loved our brief stay and would not hesitate in staying again.

Great hotel and brilliant location. The train station is next door along with a great market at weekends. Food is good and the staff welcoming. Our bed was a little too uncomfortable this time around but we will be back.

This was an overnight stay given us as a present. The hotel was superb. The staff were all extremely pleasant and helpful. The room (1402) was great. The food was excellent — evening meal and breakfast. Paper straws were used with the drinks, we the environment matters to the proprietors! I would recommend The Queen Hotel unreservedly.

Very convenient location (right next to train station, or if you drive you can park in the train station car park for £8 per 24 hours — which is less than 5 mins walk from hotel). Room was spacious and comfortable, good selection of food at breakfast — only minor issue was I noticed on the day when they were more busy the buffet food was running low at breakfast. Also worth noting if you want to go to the Zoo, you can buy discounted tickets from the hotel.

Visited for an interview day. Staff were really friendly on the front desk and in the bar. Ladies room was beautiful and very tidy. The lounge was gorgeous. While some of the doors that are painted could do with ending stripped back and sanded (you can tell there's a LOT of paint on them), the whole hotel (that I saw) was decorated beautifully and tastefully. Kinda wish I'd been staying there to see the rooms.

This is a grand old hotel. Quirky decor. Many period features. Not being very modern it has problems with plumbing, but then it is full of character. The staff are pleasant & helpful but sometimes messages seem to get lost — having to ask several times for things to be sorted. Located opposite Chester railway station it is wonderfully situated for visitors who would rather not drive. It seems to be a busy and popular place. Overall a good place to stay.

Quirky hotel ideally situated right by the train station, fantastic decor and some interesting art on display around the building. We stopped in the Kings section of the hotel. Each room was named after a king, Kings of England was the theme on our floor. There was some art in the room relating to the king our room was named after. Nice size room. Comfy bed and great facilities. We ate in the Kings Grill restaurant. The food was delicious with plenty of options to choose from. The waitress serving us was friendly and even offered some advice on places to visit within the centre. Would definitely recommend this hotel if visiting the area.

Last minute overnight break booked on line. Easy to find parking space available £15 overnight. Very friendly staff very nice with families and ourselves. Room clean and tidy bath and walk in shower would recommend.

The hotel itself is very nice. The room we stayed in however, awful. Taps were broken, toilet handle also broken. Stains on the wallpaper (Which were already an ugly dirty brown color), with a whole strip of wallpaper missing too. Drafty window, with a missing internal panel; Also really moldy due to condensation. The bed was extremely hard and uncomfortable, the Mrs departed with a really bad back. Lots of holes in the walls where previous fixtures and fittings had been. We'll definitely never visit again. If you're in room 222; Good luck.

The hotel was very easy to locate, a grand sight walking in with a very cheerful concierge. Booking in was easy, we saw upgrades advertised so we asked and were granted one for £15. On arrival to the room we noticed a very pungent smell. We found it coming from the bathroom. It I assume was something left by a previous guest! However, window opened we explored the hotel. It is truly beautiful, fine decor, quirky sculptures and even a coronation street name drop. Staff were friendly and helpful. Breakfast was delicious. Over all a truly lovely stay at the Queen.

Beautiful hotel, good food and super breakfast, waiting staff can be nice, although just one was on the rather curt side. One receptionist quite rude on check out, not sure if she is new. But overall a lovely hotel, exceptionally clean and management can't do enough.

One of the nicest hotels we've stayed at. 2 night visit just bed and breakfast as we were eating out. We had a room on the 7th floor of the new section of the hotel and it was perfect, lacking nothing. Self service excellent breakfast with good attentive staff. We will definitely stay again.

I had made a reservation through a friend of the hotel. The reference booking said I would be staying in a Kings Executive Suite, at a staff rate of £79. When I came to check in, there seemed to be some confusion with the staff and I was placed in a Queens Room. The room was hardly worth the £160 I would have originally had to pay for, and have stayed in better rooms in b&b's. When I question the reception staff who were all but pleasant they spoke to there Manager (Sonya), who didn't come out at any point to deal with me herself and told me that staff were not aloud to stay in the Kings side anymore as they had been newly refurbished. To stay there I would have to pay an additional £40. As well as having to pay my £15 parking. It didn't matter what was on my booking reservation I had to stay in a Queens room. If I was paying full price, I would have asked for my money back. Walls were thin, nothing special in the room to suggest I was paying top dollar, the whole things was a show of wealth, for people who could brag they paid £100 upwards for a room, that quite frankly would have been of better quality for that price in the holiday inn.

Room was basic but clean and comfy. It's not the quietest hotel, you can hear doors, people walking down the corridor, pipes banging etc. Evening event we attended was great, staff very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was very tasty and plenty of choice. Overall a good stay.

This is a really nice hotel. Rooms are a good size and there is a nice size bath with a separate shower. The hotel has a royalty theme (hotel rooms are named after kings and queens from varying countries). The lounge and other communal hotel areas also have names that reflect royalty. However the hotel is a lot more modern than you expect from the outside The hotel is situated next to the train station and I can honestly say I didn’t hear a single train. I may have also fallen in love with the fireplace in the lounge. Perfect on a chilly afternoon / evening.

My partner booked a 2 night stay at the hotel for my birthday. We chose a themed superior double room; which was just gorgeous! Not only was the decor fabulous, but the bed was so comfortable and the shower was amazing! We had breakfast both mornings, and were offered a glass of Buck's Fizz on the second morning. We chose to help save the environment by opting out of housekeeping during our stay, and received some free drinks vouchers as thanks. The staff were more than happy to replenish our tea and milk supply, and were polite and helpful throughout our stay. I couldn't have asked for a more enjoyable experience.

Booked in 2 nights band b and 3 course dinner included. Quick efficient check in with friendly staff. Room spacious with super king bed large bathroom and clean. Ate in kings grill for dinner delicious food with excellent service. Breakfast both mornings was perfect with a full buffet. We ate in "The Waiting Room" pub style again the food and service was excellent. Would certainly recommend The Queens.

Stayed for one night groupon deal evening meal and breakfast hotel was lovely staff very friendly had a lovely evening meal it filled us up that much we skipped breakfast. We where told to vacate room at 11 cleaners where knocking the door at 9.20 that was our only negative about the stay.

Surprised at the beautiful interior staircase, sculptures, paintings in this hotel. The outside garden was a delight and lit up during the evening. We ate in the King's Grill, the service was excellent, staff fantastic. Food OK. Our room was comfortable if not warm, bathroom new and spotless. However we were next to leave lift and fire door which was quite noisy during the night. Overall had a nice stay and staff were pleasant friendly and helpful.

Old places with great renovation needs.
The rooms very tight and without a shower you have to get into the bathtub to take a shower … Narrow corridors and many intermediate doors.
Some fellow passengers had a heater that was not to switch off the turning parts were fixed. Room swap was necessary.
Do not open the windows in the bathroom. The windows in the room only open a block wide with great effort … unbelievable.
Then this morning, a clamping room door. The sumered service leaned against it without a quick, causing the entire castle to break out. New room there was not being repaired until tonight.
+ Breakfast was good.
Those who are cold on sausages and cheeses tend to look bad.
Glasses completely blind and partial. Dirty.
The room is much too hot as the night before at dinner.
+ Dinner was a menu and very good.
+ Free lemon/orange water at reception.

I stayed during a tour as head group, great restaurant service, fast and professional, good the kitchen. Very special environment and appreciated by the guests, dedicated to the Queen, as she wants the name. Great location near the station and only 15 min walk from the center.

I would visit The Queen Hotel in Chester again and again. Nice staff, great location, cozy and stylish rooms. All around there are a lot of restaurants and bars. Try it out.
